  1. It's kind of sad that the show focuses more on David than the lottery-winning home buyers. I really liked him on Design Star, but his subsequent shows have been unimpressive.
  2. As a viewer, all I could think of was the dust that would accumulate on that vinyl. Sadly, as a buyer my first thought would have been "wow, but how do I get rid of it?" My DVR cut off before any mention of a sale. Did they sell and for how much? Thanks in advance if anyone can answer. 😊
  3. It's disappointing that they are being packaged as new and the DVR records them, but they are repeats with a tiny "new" segment.
  4. That must be why she's getting another season.
  5. I've noticed that on this show and on other reno shows as well. Those glass shower doors are costly--I put sliders with textured glass on a huge new shower in my master bath and even the mid-range ones I chose were nearly $1,000. But, c'mon... they spring for marble countertops and don't put in glass shower enclosures. Doesn't make sense to me.
  6. Wednesday night New Jersey househunter dude wants a fixer upper to save money because he's in construction and can do the work. He stands in front of a house and complains there are no gutters... but I noticed there are DOWNSPOUTS on both ends of the front facade of the house! Even I know that where there are downspouts, there are gutters. They were even a darker color than the siding and really stood out. Duh.
  7. I gasped at the prices of the piano and furniture. The total for the piano, sofa, and chair was nearly $10,000. The restoration budget was $70,000 and ended up at $76,000 due to unexpected costs. Hopefully, those period pieces were borrowed or rented for staging purposes. I can't imagine a homeowner would be happy having such a large chunk of their budget being eaten up with period furniture that they had no input into selecting.
  8. I call BS on asking $400K as an asking price in a neighborhood with houses that have boarded up windows. With their tight budgets I question why they spend money on crap like a race car bed that would appeal to very few few buyers. Impractical at best.
  9. You didn't miss anything. The "new material" wasn't worth rewatching it for.
  10. I'd never want a house like the one my parents built in the early 50s. It was definitely mid-century modern and I didn't even like it as a child.
  11. The porch turned out beautiful with the brick floor. Personally, instead of benches on either side of the porch I'd have preferred a couple comfortable chairs, a full length door for more privacy, and screening inside those shutters to keep out the bugs so I could actually sit outside and use it. The living room was still meh with the long sofa against the wall and only one chair. It was rather barren looking, but with the fireplace so oddly positioned the furniture placement will always be difficult. On the other hand, I thought the dining room was much improved and the kitchen was stunning. The homeowner wife looked so underwhelmed during the reveal that I would have loved to know what she was thinking.
  12. Sooo... that's it? Seven episodes featuring Christina's "design expertise" for clients, including the BFF who planned her entire secret wedding, and then two shows exclusively devoted to her fab, multi-million-dollar lifestyle? Yawn. Anyone know if this has been picked up for another season?
  13. I hope they run out of them pretty quickly.
  14. Some years ago I worked as a temp in a large bridal salon in Chicago and even though they took detailed measurements they purposely ordered the chosen dresses at least a size too big so that they required alterations. From what I was told, the salon made a larger profit from alterations than from the actual dresses they sold. If Kleinfelds charges $900 for alterations they're really making a lot of money on them. Quite a rip-off.
  15. That Lazaro gown in blush was stunning on her and nearly made me cry. The shimmery fabric was to die for. I normally don't like strapless wedding gowns, but that one even won me over on her. I really didn't care for the Hayley Paige gown. The top and bottom were a mismatch and the crown was an oddity, even in that lovely setting. It was just bizarre. Don't get me started on the Pnina stripper dress. Or was it a drag queen dress? Gag. At least the mom wasn't stuck with the full bill, but you know that by the time they add on a veil and fitting charges it's going to wipe out the discount.
  16. The conversion of that apartment above a four car garage (originally a four stall stable) was incredible. What the Boys did was nothing short of fantastic. The homeowners were ecstatic with the results. I only wish the reveal had shown more of what they did on the second floor where they created the master suite and an additional bedroom.
  17. Thank goodness for the DVR and fast forward. I watch for the house porn and really don't want to see people frolicking on the beach.
  18. That sounds a lot like Egypt Sherrod's show Flipping Virgins. I hope Tarek's show doesn't replace hers. Egypt is interesting and fun. Tarek strikes me as sort of grim.
  19. No, she's not. But then, neither are the Kardashians. I find it amusing that in the latest HGTV ads touting the upcoming Flip or Flop season Tarek is introduced and then Christina, with her new husband standing by her looking almost sheepish. I can see it now... at the beginning of each show Ant will drive up in some fancy car to drop Christina off at the flip house. They will smooch. Christina will join Tarek with a smug grin on her face. No doubt Ant will receive an appearance fee, which he can use to pay down some of the outrageous mortgage he's now stuck with. Argh!!! The snark almost writes itself. 😎
  20. I wondered about that as well and if I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure I saw a "trap door" type cover over the pole opening on the second floor with hinges to open it.
  21. Thanks for the info! I didn't realize that.
  22. Love the firehouse reno. The Boys are so creative and I enjoy seeing their children, even the little ones, work with them. Clint's sons are so handsome and such hard workers. Luke's family is totally huggable. Kudos to him and his dear wife for adopting all those children. Is there enough short term (vacation-type) rental demand for Boise for them to make the kind of rental income they estimated? Just asking... I thought they would rent the apartment with three bedrooms to a family long-term, which would be a more reliable income producer.
  23. It might be worth watching for the snark value.
  24. I like those aspects of the show as well, but the kitchen designers are so boring with the same old shaker style cabinets, islands, subway tiles, etc. Some of them kick it up a notch with cabinet colors and on the latest episode the mural painted on the wall and blue ceiling were different. I wasn't too sure about the mural and ceiling, but they looked really nice when done.
