  1. I'm not a fan of white kitchen cabinets either. We have white cabinets for the wet bar in our sunroom and some of the things that have gotten on the cabinet doors have stained the finish. Don't even get me started on how impractical open shelves are in a kitchen.
  2. I feel sorry for anyone who actually thinks they design and rebuild the houses on the shows they host. They've gotten really tiresome and way overexposed on HGTV.
  3. When we moved out of the Chicago area I was surprised that electric wiring was not in conduit pipes. It certainly was a safety thing. We never had to worry about nailing a picture hanger into a wire. I actually kinda miss it.
  4. That kitchen took up a lot of space. A wet bar with mini-fridge, wine fridge, microwave, and coffee maker would have served the purpose and taken up less room. The hidden storage was great, but it didn't seem large enough for all the bins she had on shelving when they toured the building. It seemed that her main requirements were storage space for supplies and a make-up spot and, to me, they did okay with the pop-up mirror but kinda failed on the storage space. The Murphy bed was killer and the little patio really sweet. I had this on DVR and didn't watch it right away because I find the Property Brothers so tiresome. They aren't designers or builders, they're actors. But, with positive comments here I watched it and was pleasantly surprised. Brad Pitt seemed like such a nice guy and good friend.
  5. I thought it was odd that the blue shutters didn't match the blue awning. The different shades of blue just clashed to me. The shutters would have looked better with the darker blue. And that wallpaper? OMG! That huge print in the dining room was so 1980s. Trust me on that...the spec homes in my neighborhood were built in 1985-1988 and builders used that busy flowered style wallpaper in all dining rooms. Thankfully, we bought our house before wallpaper was installed and I avoided it.
  6. My DVR cut off the last minute or so of the show. Did they whether the renovated bungalows sold and for how much? Those two houses really turned out nice, but made the other homes on the block look a bit shabby. That made me wonder if they could get top dollar for them.
  7. I don't know about Mississippi, but when we bought houses in Louisiana and Georgia they had to pass a termite inspection before the bank would grant the mortgage approval. We had to present a "termite letter" at the closings, even when refinancing.
  8. I really like this show and Sean. Such a nice change from most of the reruns on HGTV.
  9. I liked the house hunters in Charlotte--they were looking at lovely homes. House porn! The wife from California to Texas was so whiney that I wanted to smack her. When we relocated for my husband's job we did our house hunting in three days by looking at at least a dozen houses each day. Our real estate agent only showed us houses that fit our criteria and that was the key to our success. It was grueling, but we bought a house we toured on day one. Thirty-one years later, we still live here 😍
  10. NY bride's extended stop to perform a "royal wave" midway down the stairs was cringe-worthy. She really thought she was hot stuff. I had to laugh when I noticed her groom with his gum chewing open mouth. With all the shrieking I had to lower the volume on my TV. The over-the-top drama wasn't unexpected and I was so proud of my Georgia homegirl coming to the rescue with her makeup skill. We Southern girls are like that, y'all 🥰
  11. Tarek's Flipping 101 was actually more entertaining than Christina On The Coast.
  12. I hate that. As soon as I see 'fan fave' in the title I delete it.
  13. Not sure about On Demand, but I have Comcast and both the one-hour American-only show and the two-hour American and British version record on my DVR. I just delete the one-hour recording and watch the longer show.
  14. We went to Ferguson's looking for a bathroom faucet because it was close to the place we were getting granite and it was over the top expensive. We were in a crunch and bought a faucet from them and had to get a part of it replaced. After a few years, it now leaks. When I re-did my master bath I went to a local plumbing place where we have shopped for years and they discounted everything, including American Standard sinks and everything we needed for the shower and the sink faucets.
  15. Loved the guys and the house they chose. The bathroom turned out amazing. The dog picture really spoke to them. 🐾 I thought that was so endearing.
  16. Your gown sounds lovely. I have a very pale complexion and chose ivory crepe for my dress. I made my dress and veil from a Vogue pattern in 1975. My future mother-in-law asked why my dress wasn't white and seemed confused when I told her I didn't want to look like a ghost. On the other hand, my mother loved it.
  17. Product placement has gotten so in-your-face that if a Wayfair box that I hadn't ordered showed up on my porch I'd call the bomb squad.
  18. I had recorded one (from Monday night?) that was apparently a recycled Beach Front house hunt in North Carolina. If the wife had said "for sure" one more time I swear I'd have choked her through the TV screen. I'm so tired of these reruns being labeled as New in order to fool our DVRs.
  19. I totally understand and I wish my mother had had a gown I could have worn. I got married in 1975 and went to a bridal shop to try on a gown I saw in the window. It was gorgeous ivory satin and cost $600. I was paying for the entire wedding myself so I sadly couldn't afford it. I got a Vogue pattern and made my gown of ivory crepe in an empire waist style with lace around the relatively low neckline. It had long sleeves and covered buttons on the cuffs. I also made my veil and my maid of honor's dress. Total cost of $35. The entire wedding was $300 out of pocket. Not at all elaborate, but it suited me and we're celebrating 45 years of marriage in May.
  20. I agree. The one she picked with the plunging V filled with "skin tone" sheer fabric (that never matches anyone's skin tone) looked cheap and tacky. To me, that look isn't flattering to anyone and is borderline slutty.
  21. Why any bride thinks those sheer corset gowns are appropriate for a wedding is beyond me. So tacky!
