I disliked that ombre tile. It reminded me of what the walls looked like in our neighbor's house after a fire in their attic. Soot dripping down from the ceiling... just no! As a rule, I like Mike Holmes, but it really disgusts me that HGTV is pushing Allison down our throats. Can't stand her.

Louisiana got rid of most Blue Laws a few decades ago and NOLA has always been exempt from them anyway. I'm from Louisiana and totally understand where Jovi and his family are coming from. Yara needs to get over herself and adjust her attitude if she's going to make it there. Cajuns are very loving and friendly as a rule, but they don't like being looked down on. I totally understand why JoviMom is upset that Yara doesn't want her at the wedding. Make their Vegas wedding a "destination" deal and invite his parents to come along for the ceremony and a small dinner celebration. They can retreat to their hotel room to start their honeymoon afterwards. I'm sure the parents won't barge in on that. Jovi must have a damn good, well-paying job and she just needs to be grateful for that. I do agree that Jovi could cut back on booze before 5 o'clock, although I always have a Bloody Mary as soon as a plane takes off. It's the only way I can relax for a flight. It's Julia that won't "drink" medicine and Brandon who doesn't think using a condom is "fun" 😆

Glad to read that I'm not the only one disgusted with moving some of my favorite shows to Discovery+. Comcast offers the Peacock streaming channel at no additional charge and I watched a couple shows on it. It was very frustrating to be right in the middle of a show and have the screen suddenly start dithering. I understand that has something to do with cable wifi speed. My Samsung smart TV isn't the newest model and I've even had trouble signing up for apps like Hulu to watch ACCN for college football. Again, the dithering in the middle of a game. Very frustrating. I imagine Discovery+ would encounter similar problems.

Try to find reruns of Mike Holmes shows. He often runs into those problems and other issues in the homes he renovates.

I have Orthodox Jewish friends who live in that Squirrel Hill neighborhood. If that homeowner is Jewish, perhaps the reason the Fords 'added' the kitchen in the dining room is because she keeps kosher and needs two separate food prep areas.

Glad to hear you don't have a problem with streaming shows on TV. However, I'm sure I'm not the only one who does encounter streaming trouble. I know a couple of friends also have similar problems and they aren't on Comcast--they are WOW and Direct TV customers. I've even had shows cut out when streaming on my computer, which is hard wired via cable and not dependent on WiFi.

Comcast offers NBC's Peacock streaming service for free. I watched a few programs on it, but with all the buffering and screen freezing it was difficult to watch and enjoy. WE also had the HULU streaming service for a couple months last year to watch college football on the ACC network, which Comcast doesn't broadcast. Again, there was a lot of buffering and freezing mid-show on HULU, both on the Samsung smart TVs and iPad. Because of those experiences I would hesitate to sign up for a streaming service for which I have to pay, I wonder if those of y'all are finding those problems with Discovery+. Any thoughts?

It's rare to find a basement in Georgia houses. The ones that have them are usually on a hillside and the "basement: is usually a walk-out style lower floor.

Perhaps it's my advanced age as well, but I agree with all you expressed. The wine cellar reminded me of a good spot to wait out a tornado, but too creepy to sit down there drinking wine. When they revealed the kitchen someone said something about friends gathering around the island and I noticed there was no overhang or stools to sit on. Was there a dining table? I don't remember seeing one. I thought they were going to finish the attic as an actual room with a real stairway in place of the fold down attic stairs. It looked like there was enough room for a stairway in that bedroom/study. That ladder didn't seem very substantial and looked kinda shaky whenever anyone was on it. Without actual stairs, the loft was a fail to me. I'm so tired of the sayings in tile floors and painted or stenciled onto walls.

Last year there was a show I wanted to watch that was offered on the Peacock streaming service. Comcast offers Peacock free so I checked it out. It was very frustrating to watch because every once in a while the picture would freeze and then dither until it was ready to begin streaming again. We had a similar experience with Hulu when we signed up to watch college football on the ACC Network. Unless streaming has improved a great deal there's no way I'd pay for it again.

That's the impression I got as well. She was a "school administrator" in California and probably earned upwards of $100,000 a year. She's likely getting one of those inflated retirement incomes that "educators" are known for out there. They got a pretty good deal on that unfinished condo, but the $1000+ per month assessment was really high on top of a mortgage, unless they made a killing selling a house in California.

That's why I record and watch the show on DVR. I fast forward through all the sob stories and angst. We get enough "background" when Person with a Horrible Condition is in Dr. Lee's office and explaining it to her.

We had a hot tub and I always wore a bathing suit in it. Hubby went au natural. We never had a real problem with cloudy water, but I was careful to check the PH daily and add the necessary chemicals. You can get quite sick sitting around in hot water that's not properly balanced. As I recall, when we bought the hot tub it came with a beginners supply of chemicals and one of them was a liquid to "repair" cloudy water. I used it a few times when we'd been out of town and the tub chemicals weren't adjusted daily and the water sparkled after dumping some of it in. We usually only emptied the tub when it needed it. It's obvious when it needs to be emptied and scrubbed, especially here in the south where we have pine trees and "pollen season"--even with a lid the yellow crud would get inside and leave a ring around the tub. I don't miss it, although I enjoyed it a lot in my younger days. The idea that wearing clothing, other than a bathing suit, in a hot tub is just silly. However, lotions or just the natural oil in your skin can change the PH of the water, which is why checking it and maintaining the proper balance is so important.

The lawsuit doesn't surprise me either. The allegations about him and Alison Victoria's faux angst made the second season of the show unwatchable. Shame on the production company for filming it and HGTV for airing it.

I suspected that Donavan wasn't the total bad guy that Alison made him out to be. She's so arrogant that I have a hard time believing anything she claims.

It's great that your cabinets were able to be reused like that! We bought some inexpensive cabinets from Lowe's for our garage. If we ever had to replace or kitchen cabinets we wouldn't be able to recycle them because they were custom built in place and, thankfully, are still in good condition after 30+ years. Even if they are the oak that people hate these days. I liked them when we bought our house because they match my oak breakfast room table and antique ice box. My brother worked for Steven McQueen many years ago and enjoyed being his bodyguard/motorcycle mechanic. Thanks for the tip about the book. Sounds interesting. The PDA was awkward. I'd probably like this show better with hosts other than the property bros.

It was a thrill to see him and his entire family so happy.

Our first choice of wedding day was May 10 (1975) and Mother's Day was the next day. Our priest suggested we change it to the following Saturday, May 17, which we did because on the weekend of Mother's Day he advised us that it would be next to impossible to get flowers and even a cake would be iffy. One week later was no big deal. That said, I really felt bad for Julia. Future mother-in-law Betty is an insufferable bitch who doesn't seem to realize Mother's Day is the second Sunday in May every year and can fall as late as mid-May.

What's up with calling the master suite the "main" bedroom & bath? I've noticed that on HH and other HGTV shows.

I don't believe for a minute that someone with Bryan's experience was surprised by the mold. He commented on the mold smell when they first walked in and it was right out in the open in the basement foundation walls and attic roof. He's playing dumb for drama.

That stool was one of the ugliest things I've ever seen. If it were me, I'd return it for a refund, but that homeowner wife seemed like the type who'd like it. Edgy, ya know. The rest of the sun room, as well as the front entryway, did look nice. The outside of the house didn't look as bad as I thought it would with the dark siding on the new sun room. Glad to see that the husband got something for himself in the garage with all the money spent.
