  1. Agree. And the ceilings weren't THAT low. That glass 'garage' door in the townhouse they bought is going to be very cold in the winter in Denver. JMHO, but I thought the Denver couple was one of the most mismatched pairs I've ever seen on House Hunters. I can't help but wonder how long that relationship will last.
  2. You were fortunate that your trundle bed was for sleepovers. I had one in the bedroom I shared with my little brother. When he 'graduated' from the crib in the room and it was taken away he slept on the lower trundle. It was pulled out each night for him. That lasted for at least five years until we finally had a big enough house for me (the only girl) to have my own room.
  3. We rented a painted brick house when my husband was transferred with his job about 40 years ago. The house was built with the intention of paining it a soft yellow so it might have been a special type of brick that was meant to be painted. When we lived there the house was less than 10 years old. From recent photos on Google maps it still looks good, but I don't know if it's been repainted or not. Where we live now the homes are mostly Federal and Georgian style two story brick and there isn't a single one that's been painted. They would look out of place if painted.
  4. Steve is the spitting image of my college boyfriend. My first love. Sigh. I watch the show to see him. I've had a table and chairs on my deck that were nicer.
  5. I really enjoyed this show when it debuted, and I really, really like Steve a lot. However, it's getting stale with all the white and black. When Leanne said she took her inspiration from the homeowner's dining table I nearly gagged. That table and chairs looked like an outdoor plastic patio furniture set. The new fireplace treatment in the living room was interesting, but all the lovely original character was removed and the rest of the room was blah. Same in the dining room--it was a shame that they couldn't have cleaned up that Delft tile and built around it to keep it exposed as a feature. Did anyone else notice the horrible downspouts in the front of the house? They ran down the wall part way and then 'flared' out in a length that would make them a trip hazard on the porch at the right side of the house. Really odd placement and detracted from the curb appeal. It was the first thing I noticed.
  6. This! Our family of six (mom, dad, four children) rarely lived in a house with more than one bathroom. DH and I (no children) have two bathrooms and each vanity has two sinks. I use the master bathroom and he uses the "guest" bathroom down the hall. We just like our privacy and when we have overnight company he moves his toothbrush into "my" bathroom.
  7. Bristol used those concrete tiles on a bathroom floor and even though they weren't weirdly bright, someone at the open house said they were too busy. I think he also used them on a shower floor, which is a huge fail. Shower floors must have small tiles in order for the installer to properly create a slope to the drain. I learned that when remodeling our master bathroom.
  8. I've used tub/shower combos in Europe that only have glass enclosing the half of the tub on the end where the shower head is located and that is fine if one is careful. Agreed that if the shower is big enough and has a rain shower head there isn't a need for an enclosure. However, the ones on TV flip shows certainly need something to keep the entire bathroom from getting wet, especially when the tub is free standing. Unless the walls and entire floor are tiled, and the floor has a drain, the bathroom is gonna be a "wet room" in no time unless the tub is encircled by a shower curtain.
  9. I really enjoyed the guest cottage they did this week. The old elements they incorporated were very appropriate, such as the kitchen sink with the patina intact. However, I was confused that there was a "rain"-style shower head above that gorgeous antique bathtub, but no shower curtain rod installed around it. That reminded me of so many of the bathrooms we see in flip shows where there are beautiful new walk-in showers, but no glass enclosures.
  10. I do have sympathy for the families of victims, but the balloon releases are simply cheesy and dangerous for wildlife. There are so many of them that they must be producer driven events.
  11. House #1 was a nice Mid-century modern, but only had one decent size bedroom, and contemporary House #2 was furnished so it wasn't likely for sale. When they looked at the condo/townhouse with two fairly equal masters--one upstairs and one down--I was fairly certain they'd go with that one. Agreed that they are a bit long in the tooth for their wardrobes.
  12. The "accent walls" are usually hideous, but I thought the wood one that was going to serve as a "headboard" in the condo bedroom looked okay. Until Aubrey spent $500 out of their very tight budget on neon lettering to spell out "Lucky" over the bed. One of the agents touring the condo even said she liked the wood but the neon had to go.
  13. I noticed Joanna and Chimp's book on Amazon Unlimited some time ago and since it was "free" I downloaded it to my Kindle. I couldn't make it through the entire thing. It was self-serving and cutesy beyond belief. I imagine their "network" will be more of the same.
  14. They're going to replace DIY network? Well, that just sucks.
  15. One of the episodes was in Squirrel Hill. I believe it was last season. I'm a huge fan. Steve reminds me so much of my college boyfriend that I especially enjoy watching him.
  16. The pranks are getting to be a bit old. Grow up, guys. Marley is the only sensible one.
  17. Blue is my favorite color, but that was way too much blue even for me.
  18. Glad to see a topic for this show, which is one of the best that HGTV currently has to offer. Leanne's style is so elegant and Steve pulls it off without all the drama of other teams.
  19. Many of our neighbors here in Georgia have rockers and swings on their front porches, but very few people seem to sit out there. They are more than likely sitting in their backyard screen porches. We replaced our deck with a screened in sunroom five years ago, but used the deck all the time during the previous 25 years. Huge umbrellas to shade us from the sun, Off! spray, and citronella candles were necessities before the sunroom was built.
  20. It was stunning, but I didn't like the flat panels on kitchen cabinets and drawers. They looked a bit too modern to me.
  21. Not only was he skeptical of some of her tacky crap, one of the faux "buyers" commented that the purple doors could be repainted white.
  22. Just from the way she dresses and styles her hair, I'd say she's big on Hooker Glam.
  23. That Atlantis property in Dubai looked to me like a larger and tackier version of Atlantis in the Bahamas.
  24. Maybe they aren't married. I just assumed they were since I can't imagine why she'd put up with him otherwise.
  25. I watch shows saved on my DVR and recently the "new" Dr PP shows are actually repeat pops from previous shows with a bit of "extra" info tossed in. Very discouraging to expect a new show only to discover it's not new.
