See, this is what I don't understand -- if you're going to be so shitty at covering your tracks that you have no alibi and the random notes in class and such then how are you also so good at covering your tracks that there's no physical evidence??
-
Fair enough -- I hadn't seen the episode at that point. Watching the episode, though, I have to wonder what kind of dog Karate is, because Cheddar is not that big!!
-
Well, things like Holt's aversion to food (The Party vs. the episode where Boyle tries to teach him to cook), the TV in Holt's bedroom (The Party vs. Beach House), Jake going to the dentist (The Party vs. Payback), Boyle's dogs (Pontiac Bandit vs. Payback). Just little things.

Benedict Cumberbatch: Not Your Father's Sherlock

Sweet gig. -
I haven't seen the episode -- are Charles' dogs not Richard and Dan, the ones that Holt gave him in Pontiac Bandit? I love the show but it disappoints me that the writers seem to have so many continuity fails. On the other hand, Golden Girls couldn't even decide on the layout of the house and is still one of the best shows ever, so maybe I shouldn't care so much about continuity.

Unfortunately, we're well past "reasonable doubt" although a failure to to confirm the existence of the pivotal phone seems a failure on the part of the defense team -- shouldn't they have run though the supposed timeline of the crime as Sarah & producer did? Perry Mason would've is all I'm saying.

Fair enough. But based on @FozzyBear's comments, I still don't think that the Intercept articles are worth reading. Refusing to question anything seems a poor place for a journalist to start from.
-
Okay, so I'm not going to read that article because anything/one that begins with "juries are never wrong" is too stupid to spend time on. Thanks for the head's up.

I've recently started listening to "Denzel Washington is the Greatest Actor of All Time Period" from Wolfpop. It might sound a bit narrow - how many hours could conceivably be dedicated exclusively to the praise of Denzel -- but (apart from that being an absurd assertion to begin) the hosts, W. Kamau Bell (formerly of Totally Biased) and Kevin Avery (writer on Last Week Tonight), allow the conversation to range beyond Denzel on occasion. But really... Denzel.

He should just take them to see Selma.

There's a franchising expo in town this weekend -- hearing the ad on the radio brought so many quotes to my head!! Helen: Hmm, Pita. Well, I don't know about food from the Middle East. Isn't that whole area a little iffy? Hostess: Hey, I'm no geographer. You and I -- why don't we call it pocket bread, huh? Maude: Umm, what's tahini? Hostess: Flavor sauce. Edna: And falafel? Hostess: Crunch patties. Helen: So, we'd be selling foreign... Hostess: Specialty foods. Here, try a Ben Franklin. Although, to be honest I could really go for a pretzel right about now.

Benedict Cumberbatch: Not Your Father's Sherlock

The most startling part of the announcement was the note that they announced their engagement three months ago -- what the hell happened to the last three months?!? I thought that was three WEEKS ago!! (I think that's more a reflection on me than Benedict & Sophie, though.) -
I cannot believe I'm about to be this person but I'm fairly certain that was Rachel's birthday party -- both her (bitterly divorced) parents came and, to keep them separate, they made up the "two party" solution, all while hiding it from the parents. I still haven't seen this episode but I'm very much looking forward to it. One of my favourite things about B99 is that, even when horrifically spoiled for the entire episode, it still makes me laugh.

Not entirely on topic but LWT writer Kevin Avery co-hosts a podcast with W. Kamau Bell called "Denzel Washington is the Greatest Actor of All Time Period" and it is pretty fantastic.

If anyone can take it, it's George Clooney. He'll just launch some elaborate prank, BC will team up with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to retaliate and the world will be a slightly better place. -
Agreed. To be fair, as a "true crime" piece Serial seems to have kept Hae front of mind and importance more than many stories. (As opposed to having her as a non-descript victim of limited consequence to the narrative.)

Farewell, The Colbert Report: Stephen, We Hardly Knew Ye

O'Reilly? He's never been an It-getter. -
Maybe Bow took those down after Dre ruined her prank.
-
That sentence makes no sense. What is happening while fans wait with baited breath? The increased payday?
-
Thanks guys, I'm now listening to The Read. I don't even know half the people they are talking about but I loooove it. Also, please listening to the fourth episode, "Bow Down" because it is hilarious and (a year later) relevant.

I suspect that the yard sale was on the serious hush-hush with some form of social media block or something because how was he not mobbed?

Stephen Colbert Throws The World's Most Patriotic Yard Sale

On an intellectual level I understand that -- I avoid accumulating things to begin -- but it still makes me sad. It's not so much the random props -- like Butt Spray or the cigarettes -- it's the personal items like the awards and specific memorabilia that are a physical representation of this period of his life and what it meant to him and The Nation. Also that the set is not just gone but scattered to the four corners makes me sad. Seriously, why couldn't it be an exhibit somewhere? -
I realize that it is probably a name and not a descriptor but I have to love the topline of that cover "BLACKMAN on Obama".
