I don't know what OTA is. I don't have a TV, I watch everything online and I try very hard to watch things legally -- so normally I would watch on CityTV.com. But they haven't aired the third episode and B99 isn't on the schedule for the next two weeks. I Tweeted at them and they said "the fans will be the first to know", which basically means they have no fucking clue.
-
Are there any Canadians who can explain what the fuck City is doing with the scheduling? I am so furious with City - they randomly pulled Parks & Recs and Community mid season last year and now they are fucking around with B99 TWO EPISODES into the season. ARGH! This is why people download illegally!!!!!! Sorry... I'm a little rage-y right now.

Thanks! Sorry, I guess I should have looked to page two for the casting thread.

What's the spoiler policy on casting information?

I'm confused by the combination arguments that the pumpkin spice latte doesn't actually contain any pumpkin and yet Americans consume five pounds of pumpkin a year. Where are they eating all this pumpkin?? (Also, why all the hate for pumpkin pie? I love pumpkin pie. I don't eat five pounds of it a year, though.)

All Episodes Talk: The Best Damn News Team
dusang replied to nymusix's topic in The Daily Show With Jon Stewart [V]
Wow, he not only covers some of the most loaded subjects, he pulls off a joke in German. That's talent and skill. -
That's one moral, except for the part where we're law abiding citizens living in a free and fair society.

In the Media: The Blogs Must Be Crazy
dusang replied to Fremde Frau's topic in The Daily Show With Jon Stewart [V]
There are those who argue that a language cannot be static and must change with usage -- so decimate, anniversary, nauseous, and factoid (among millions of others) must be amended to reflect the current usage rather than the original meaning. On the one hand, I see the argument and agree -- I mean, who uses "nice" to mean "fastidious"? But as we watch these meanings change as a result of ignorance rather than necessity it hurts. (I really hate it when newly created, borderline-fake words are immediately misused -- a "selfie" is when you take a picture of yourself by holding the camera at arm's length!! Can we please stop calling every picture taken a "selfie"?) Sorry... back to topic. -
"The Daily Show": Week of 10/6/14

Ummm... did Wyatt just plug Charlotte Bronte by Jane Eyre?? Hahahahahahaha. -
Yes, hearing the Hermione and Annie Edison comparisons, I totally see it. But when Holt handed her the "grade" all I could see was Lisa Simpson in The PTA Disbands.. Lisa: [panting] Grade me...look at me...evaluate and rank me! Oh, I'm good, good, good, and oh so smart! Grade me! [Marge scribbles an A on a piece of paper] [Lisa walks off, muttering crazily and sighing]

Two points -- one, if that were/is the case the viewers might hope the showrunners/writers could fit it in more naturally without contorting the narrative so egregiously to suit their agenda. Second, although I haven't actually counted, I would place good money on the fact that the majority of unsubs are executed by the BAU without the benefit of any due process (just last week they killed someone on the scene). So for any writer on this show to take umbrage to the actual legal process of the death penalty is kind of absurd.

I finally watched the episode last night and just have to ditto everyone here -- I love everyone and everything on this show. Jake/Terry was hilarious. I appreciated that Terry actually expressed a desire for more children (which Jake played on with the very adorable baby) rather than this just being about his "manhood" or other bullshit. (As a previous poster mentioned, Tim got snipped on Home Improvement but his resistance to it was on the "manhood/virility/big dick" basis, rather than an actual desire to expand the family). And, as always, Terry Crews is amazing in all things. Amy/Holt was amazing and they both deserve every award for the "cajole" scene. It's hard to call anyone on the cast a "stand-out" since they are all pretty awesome but Melissa has really imbued what could be the killjoy stereotype with amazing layers and I adore her. I know there are mixed emotions about Gina but personally I find her strangely delightful in small doses. Her line delivery on "secret shameful sex" was perfection and I can't fault her for the "bone bros" slap. I'm trying to put my finger on exactly why I enjoy both Gina and Rosa, while I despise their closest alternate, April Ludgate. I think it's because Gina & Rosa have both been shown to take one for the team, care about their coworkers, and generally find joy in life while April is a miserable bitch who inexplicably has the world handed to her. The Holt/Wunch flashbacks were great but I have to point out that there is no way Kyra Sedgewick's hair would have looked that good in the "night before" scene -- that must have been late-80s/early 90s and she should have had some inappropriate volume and layers in there.

S19: Alfonso Ribeiro: The Tap Dance Kid
dusang replied to luvthepros's topic in Dancing With The Stars
Honestly, what I love about "The Carlton" is that, despite being a visual cue for rhythmless nerd, it takes SO MUCH coordination. Not even Witney could really keep up with Alfonso. -
Oh thank you! I have a serious mental condition where I cannot watch fictional people make fools of themselves and I literally turned the show off as Andre was moving to the other side of the boardroom table in fear of the Zoolander reveal (accepting the award given to someone else -- I can't tell you how many times I've seen that film and have NEVER been able to watch that sequence in its entirety... I have problems). Now that I know what happens I'll try watching again. Oop... I had to pause for an awkward breather after the "urban pitch" video.

"The Daily Show": Week of 9/29/14
dusang replied to trow125's topic in The Daily Show With Jon Stewart [V]
I'd say more like Joan Rivers -- she may be a groundbreaking comedienne but appears to be a total bitch. Topic... the street harassment piece was genius. Although, either Toronto is a lot more polite than NYC or I have a serious bitchface because I think I've only had one incident like that. -

I, too, have a negative view of her -- despite having never seen an episode of her show or a full interview with her. I've heard a variety of arguments that Lena Dunham is treated unfairly by the media because she is a young woman. However, just from the original commercials for Girls, her awards acceptance speeches, and her tweets, I have to say she's created my negative view all on her own. Now, obviously, those are small, decontextualized snapshots of who she is but... blergh she bugs. -
And that the tween/teen he was solely responsible for had fallen asleep on the couch after studying all night? (I took it that she was arriving home at nearly 7am.) Point taken but it was still an awkward scene.
-
I was totally weirded out by the Meg Callahan reveal -somehow it seemed that, as primary caregiver for w tween/teen, Kate just left for two days with no warning. She didn't even seem to have called. I assume it will be revealed that there was/is another adult present but it just seemed really weird to me.
-
I will never hear the word 'cajole' without laughing from now on.
-
Of course -- if the person you worked with and sat opposite in an open-concept, long-hour, dangerous job was about to declare (or re-iterate) feelings that you do not reciprocate, wouldn't you look nervous as hell? (Although yeah, they totally left it open.)
-
As a rating system, the shirtless scale has never steered me wrong.
-
Wow, I do not understand those ratings -- the "lower rated" shows sometimes have more viewers??? I don't... please don't try to explain. I'm in a place where I'm confused and I'm comfortable with that.
-
I was more listening than watching, so I sort of missed a few points but I'm pretty sure that a lawyer wouldn't take a case FOUR DAYS before she has to actively defend in court (was there a jury? 'Cause just from my knowledge of John Grisham let alone the real world, I know those take DAYS to select). Also, the initial classroom scene was such a Legally Blonde rip-off!!

I guess we're interpreting "righteous indignation" differently. I would consider it, generally, an angry response and I don't see John or LWT as angry. Chiding, perhaps, but not angry.
