I had long imagined that I would be comfortable and open discussing sex with my (theoretical future) children, until I was confronted with explaining AIDS prevention to a class of 11- and 12-year-olds. Looking into the faces of these children, the ability to casually, calmly, and openly discuss condoms and alternatives to penetrative intercourse died on my lips. So, on the one hand I can see a mother think that it's okay to discuss sex with her 11yo but, on the other hand, BDSM sex with blindfolds and cable ties?????? I hate to clutch my pearls but... jayzus.

Okay, a) the monologue and Avengers spoof sound hilarious and I kind of wish they were real and b) that fake commercial sounds like a winning product and I would totally buy that. Let's get on that Big Pharma!!

Agreed. I totally felt her pain when she was ranting about how much she doesn't want to "repopulate" with him. But even those moments of understanding her still couldn't totally balance her character for me -- WHO is going to marry you, Carol? There's NO ONE to perform the ceremony, sign the legal documents, etc, etc. I guess that's part of why she was more annoying to me -- although he was disgusting and pretty stupid, his descent actually seemed a bit more... non-delusional?? .... except for where he was talking to sports balls and making out with a mannequin?? Okay, at least in his interactions with her he came off as the less crazy person.

It's strange to me that, while Phil and Carol present opposite ends of the spectrum of crazy, somehow she's worse than him. I actually find her worse but when I stop to think about how incredibly disgusting Phil is being... If you really stop to think about it, if you were the last woman on Earth confronted with this man, how would you respond?? I think any reasonable person would be somewhere in the middle of these two extremes. But for some reason, her extreme is worse. Isn't that odd?

Hey, This American Life fans, I've had recent episodes "Cops See It Differently" parts 1 and 2 downloaded and ready to play for a couple of weeks but just am not sure I care how cops see it. Can someone let me know if this is worth listening to or just rage-inducing?

I think the only serious emotion I felt during the entire movie was sincere anxiety at the very concept of that glider. Like even knowing that they weren't going to kill Ana and Christian the very concept of the glider freaks me out.

Allegedly, the lisp wasn't part of the character originally. SLJ added it, as a nod to the frequent physical "challenges" of Bond villains. Allegedly, he actually has a lisp that he overcame in order to become an actor.

I will credit LWT with that victory.

This is so stupid but there's a scene in Just Friends (the one with Ryan Reynolds - generally terrible movie) where Anna Faris is accidentally tasered and falls off a balcony. Between Anna Faris and Chris Marquette (as the one holding the taser) I laughed 'til I cried. Stopped, rewound, and laughed again.

I don't even see the hotdog meltdown as unreasonable -- why would they package the weiners and buns in different numbers?!?! WHY?!
