  1. This episode made me realize I had no idea what Hannah's last name was. When they called her at the Moth event, I thought the joke was that they called another Hannah. I was also waiting for her to be called up twice. I was terrified that Elijah and Hannah's dad were going to hook up, and I think that was the point, since they teased Elijah and Hannah's mom hooking up later in the episode. Adam and Jessa's fight was terrifying, but the blocking made it kind of hilarious. Like they would be moving around like they were on a scavenger hunt for another object to dramatically hurl across the room. I actually kind of figured they were role playing more than actually fighting.
  2. Colin Jost pitched the "Who works here?" CVS sketch during his stand up last year, so it was fun to see it come to fruition. JLD as the completely-over-it game show host really elevated it though. Not going to lie, I was pretty meh on this show when I watched it, but thinking back on all the sketches, it was a pretty strong episode. The AA powered car was hilarious, shades of Colon Blow as the batteries spilled out the sides. And the "God's a Boob Man" was pretty strong too. Especially when Vanessa was whining about Christians being the most oppressed group in America while Sasheer was like "Okaaaaaaaaaaay...."
  3. This is the first episode of the season that I've enjoyed all the way through, if only because it focused on the core group and had them all working together again. I do admit that I've plugged my ears and shouted "lalalala" through Bellamy's arc this season, so the hastiness of his redemption is easier for me to swallow, but I can't help it. This show is so much more enjoyable without the adults around.
  4. I really like Jason Lee too. He was supposed to star in that Fletch reboot that never came to fruition, and I think that could have been his breakout role. I do wonder if Scientology played a role in his stalled career, since they don't seem to have as much clout in Hollywood as they used to, and their reputation has been only getting worse in recent years.
  5. Degrassi: Next Class has been renewed through season 4 by Netflix. Does anyone know if they've given up on the floating timeline? I know the seasons are technically 20 episodes long, but Netflix is breaking them down into two 10 episode seasons, so following the season 6 and beyond standards, the first four seasons would only cover one school year...
  6. For anyone with the Logo network, they've been playing marathons the past few weekends. I don't know what seasons they have the rights to, but every week they've gone back a little further in time. So far they've aired seasons 30 through 40. I missed the seasons from the mid to late 2000's because I was in college, so it's been fun to see the Hader/Sudeikis/Samberg/Wiig early years. That was such a tight cast. Probably one of the best ensembles along side the original cast, the 80s golden era, and mid-late-90's Ferrell years.
  7. I actually liked Russel's monologue. I thought he was surprisingly charming, and the Les Miz gag was unexpected. I thought he was very good in all the sketches he was in, even though I didn't find the sketches to be that great (the Henry VIII one went on for way too long.) It did seem telling that he was featured so little. I want the backstage gossip from this week.
  8. This is why all the criticism about female heroes taking over the Star Wars series makes no sense to me. Yes, we're seeing a trilogy and an anthology led by a female protagonist, but the films are still largely saturated with men. Looking at the Wikipedia page, which only features the key characters announced so far, men outnumber women 3:1, and the only major female characters the Star Wars saga has had, have all been brown haired white girls (which, I know, they're probably all related, sort of...) who go on adventures with a team of boys. I'm not complaining that the film isn't progressive enough, films will never please everybody, I just don't understand the argument that the new Star Wars films are being too progressive.
  9. I was impressed that the trailer passed the Bechdel Test, because it looked like another "lone girl leads an army of her bros into battle" from the early promotional images. What if we could capitalize off the success of The Hunger Games and the Star Wars franchise at the same time!
  10. To be fair, the recovery of the plans also leads to the destruction of the Death Star, which was the Rebellion's first major victory, so the mission was successful, from a certain point of view... I'm very curious to see who might be involved. The actress playing Mon Mothma is the same from Episode III, so technically they could slip in a pre-Alec Guiness-Ewan McGregor-era Obi Wan Kenobi (which Ewan McGregor has been campaigning for hardcore.) I know Obi Wan played dumb at times throughout A New Hope, but I feel like he had some involvement with the Rebellion. There were also some rumors about Hayden Christensen making an appearance in Episode VII that never came to pass, but it could have been Rogue One related (at which point, it'd really just be him wearing the suit while James Earl Jones handles the acting.)
  11. I'm pretty sure these are the plans that Leia stashes on R2D2, so we know that they successfully retrieve the plans, the problem is, they get them back to the base too late.
  12. The current cast is not short on talent, but the chemistry between performers is not there. I think Kate, Aidy, and Cecily are the only cast members who have really gelled (and maybe Taran Killam) so Kate leaving would be a big loss. I'm not too worried about her going though, as Lorne has held onto a lot of his breakout stars long after they've hit it big (Ferrell, Wiig, Poehler...) I think he's made it worth their while to stay after he lost most of his original cast to Hollywood.
  13. I knew as soon as Ilana and Lincoln started their open relationship that something like this would happen. I really hope it's not the end for Lincoln, I really love Hannibal Buress on this show. (And, haha, he was still carrying around his Blake Griffin shoe murse!)
  14. I'll definitely see it, because I think it has an impressive cast, and I actually like the idea of exploring the original trilogy further, because I think the storyline is better developed than the New Order/Resistance stuff. My only qualm with the trailer is that it screams "Katniss Everdeen in Space." Like I'm pretty sure if you played this teaser and Mockingjay's teaser side by side, the shots would match exactly.

    The Star Wars Saga

It's actually the same actress who portrayed her in Episode III, but I'm not sure if any of her scenes made the final cut.
  16. I think for some villains, that detail would make them more compelling, but for Kylo Ren, it just pushes his drama queen level past 11.
  17. I'm still upset that Man from UNCLE didn't do well. That movie was a lot of fun, and all three leads, including Armie Hammer were great in it.
  18. This episode was really strange to me, like even though there were a handful of solid sketches, the pacing was so off, it made the show seem bad. The monologue ended really abruptly and didn't transition into a fake ad/pre recorded bit, the Pooh sketch seemed a lot more like a post-Update sketch than a show opener, and all the choppy cuts and missed cues really added up. And while I love the cast, they should really consider doing some trimming. Like when was the last time Sasheer Zamata was in an episode? I think Darrel Hammond has gotten more airtime than her this season.
  19. It's really jarring how isolated these two story lines are. It's almost like they're happening on two different shows. It also didn't help that the sky crew members a part of the heist to free Kane and Lincoln were Miller, Harper, and Whatever-Miller's-Boyfriend's-Name-Is. I mean they've developed Miller from a background player to an almost supporting character, but not enough for him to lead the breakout. I'd rather have had Raven and Jasper at the helm. And, I'm sorry, but Clarke's long, lonesome journey is so boring. I was excited that they got Murphy involved, because that at least brought some comic relief, but then she immediately left him behind in Polis (which, I get, because they need someone there to play low budget Game of Thrones.) I really hope they start paving her road back to Arkadia, because I'm not really feeling the direction her story has taken. I agree with everyone else, this season has been really hard to watch. Free these poor characters from these awful story lines!
  20. That didn't even occur to me. I think it's just a scene that Charlie is used to because he's a junkie surrounded by a bunch of junkies who are desperate for their next fix. He was just calling the guy's bluff, not expecting him to have a gun. I think the point of the mugging was to separate Marnie from her wedding ring, the symbol of her marriage, and for her to realize she doesn't care that it's gone.
  21. I agree. I really like the idea of Marnie/Ray because I'm a sucker for "we hate each other, but we have this mutual friend, and even though our mutual friend has dumped us, we're both still here" but I don't think the actors work together nearly as well as Soshanna and Ray do. When Christopher Abbott left, Ray had to become an amalgam of Ray and Charlie, and while I think the actor's done a great job with it, he's never clicked with Allison Williams. I think Marnie/Williams works best across Lena Dunham, and as this episode showed, Christopher Abbott, who can get nuance out of her character beyond oblivious narcissist (although I love when Marnie is completely tone deaf to a situation and makes an ass out of herself.)
  22. Or how we'd have to sit through both characters learning the same information at different times, as if Roth copied and pasted the scenes and just changed the character's names. God that book was tedious. I'll watch the movie when it shows up on HBO.
  23. Yeah, if anything, the end of Allegiant makes the series somewhat unique. It was all the conflicting thematic elements she threw in as a jumbled mess and then hastily resolved instead of finishing the story she had started that I found to be the biggest problem with Allegiant. And the morality behind it was all really confusing. It's been years since I read the book, and the ridiculous plot points still give me rage blackouts. was the lowest offense on my "Well screw this book" list.
  24. I spent the entire episode holding my breath while waiting for Charlie to die, he had such an ominous dark cloud around him the whole time. I think Alison Williams and Chris Abbott have such amazing chemistry and that they really sparkled in all of their scenes together, so bummer about Charlie's downward spiral. I do think it's the last we'll see of him, since Ray has basically filled old-Charlie's role as Marnie's stalwart backup plan. Desi wins another episode with "you're recoiling from my touch" and "you will get murdered." Desi is the worst, but he gets the best lines.
  25. Kenan's all over the variety show map this year, and will also participate in the All That 22nd Reunion show (although it looks like it's just going to be segments played through an All That marathon and not an actual special.)
