  1. Desiree broke one of the basic rules of playing Survivor - never draw attention to yourself. When backed into a corner deny quietly, play it cool, act offended or upset, even stir shit by causing others to argue (who did that in Africa when he managed to get two others to argue about eating the chicken and while they're fighting you see him scurrying away in the background? That was funny!) But don't try to deflect by being the one to argue and getting loud and defensive with all the teammates. That pretty much guarantees you the vote. Too bad Donathan had to tell the others about the idol. I think he would have told them anyway and wish he'd have kept it a secret but he sort of got stuck telling them when he needed a shield or two so he could dig. I didn't realize until last night but why doesn't the shelter have at least one wall? And no roof either? I don't think I've seen just a platform in years, maybe I"m forgetting but usually they have something substantial built by now. At this point I don't think there's a female player left that I'd want to win. Not unless they start playing a little harder because except for Des who had it all come apart on her I don't see them playing much. (of course there's editing so there could be scheming we don't see). Kellyn is the exception but there's something about her I don't like. As obvious as it seems and as unsatisfying as it might be I think I have to go with Dom and Wendell with Michael as the underdog, if he can keep himself in the game when every tribal seems to be his last. That said can you imagine if there was a shakeup and the final three were Donathan, Chelsea and Laurel? Now that would be interesting. Speaking of Kellyn this is who she's reminded me of, since day one. Sarah Torgov when she played Candace in the 80's movie Meatballs.
  2. Me too but I'm pretending I don't know and writing/thinking from a imagined position of not knowing and not going past this episode. I figure I can't take back what I accidentally read and I still want to sort of participate like it's all new.
  3. I agree that girls should be learning about this at an earlier age but my guess is that if (back then) they’d have had a harder time getting parents to give permission for younger girls. This old lady went to school in the 70's. We got ONE talk about our periods in 7th grade. It was a movie shown by the school nurse and our parents had to sign permission slips for us to even watch the movie. Waiting until 7th grade was pretty much too late for most of us anyway. What I remember most about it was being jealous that the boys got to go play in the gym for that hour. Then sex education was two hour long classes in high school given by the school district's doctor at which I learned nothing. I'm sure experience varies and some who grew up during that time got more info and some got even less but it was pretty pathetic and again waiting until we were HS Sophomores to cover the "birds and bees" didn't really do us any favors.
  4. Just want to add if they do kill off Barbara I won't be mad. I'll miss her and want it to be where she lives next week but I won't be mad at the show if she dies die. What would make me very mad at the writers is if Barbara dies and they put Trixe and Tom back together. Real life is fine, they're a cute couple but the characters don't belong together, that's well established so here's hoping they do not go down that road at all.
  5. I thought this episode was Sister Julienne light especially since Sister MJ was having the surgery and I thought Sister J would be around more. Now I know why since she lost two scenes in the US airing! I've been holding this in for what seems like ages and it's been driving me crazy so I can say - I knew about Barbara all along and I was really pissed about it. Not the story just the knowing. It was my fault, I was reading news on a UK site and along the side of the screen they had headlines and the first few sentences of each article. One was about the show and they spoiled Barbara right in the headline - I wasn't mad at the news site, it's UK after all and they show had already aired so they had every right to do it. I was mad at myself for seeing it and tried to either forget or pretend I wasn't sure who they were talking about (they didn't mention her name it was just enough to figure out it was her). Anyway I've been waiting for it and at the same time mad that I knew I was waiting for it. Although from the preview last week I thought I was wrong about the character and something was going to happen to Phyllis in the fire instead ; I'm way to invested in this show! Question; maybe they cover it next week or maybe they don't consider it important but do we know yet HOW she got the sepsis? Just a cold that got out of control or did she get a cut in the fire that she didn't pay attention to or something else? Loved Phyllis being the rescuer, loved that Sister MJ's ward friend wasn't awed by her status as a nun and they had fun together, loved Sister MJ and her visualization and loved Shelagh and her sneaky "No I'm not reading this I'm perusing it for suitability that's a totally different thing" when given the romance book. I expect to see that hidden in her nightstand drawer in a future scene!
  6. The head NASA guy in Sheldon's daydreams, the one with the curly blonde hair.
  7. It's another weird quirk of Sheldon's that he'll willingly put aside his "rules" if it benefits him. We could go down the rabbit hole of what falls in that category vs. what's an inconsistency between the two shows but off the top of my head I'm thinking of things like his hospital phobia, he tried to get out of going when Mrs. Wolowitz had food poisoning but happily went to get a brain scan with Beverly and some routine tests from Leonard's Doctor girlfriend. That seems to be keeping with the (adult) character's manipulative ways to get things he wants. His wanting another smart person, his pen-pal that he looked up to, in the family overrode his Pop Pop although I wonder he didn't decide at the end the guy wasn't all that smart after all since Sheldon said he "already knew" the material. Michael Cudlitz! Looking as Un-Abrahamlike as possible! Nice cameo; wasn't 100% sure it was even him until the credits. But they didn't have Wallace Shawn slip an "Inconceivable" in there? Missed Opportunity!
  8. I loved that too - when they first showed up I saw the girls and said "Oh they must have had a hair fixing day". But then I saw Sebastian and just laughed...he is..what's the description "odd", "interesting", "unusual", "smoking the palm branches"? All of the above maybe but at least he's fun to watch. I'd have been Wendell at the food IC. I've always wondered what if the whole tribe just noped out? Would Jeff say OK no challenge nobody is safe or would the powers that be try to make them or what? This would have been a good time for a compete or reward choice which they've done before. Imagine being shown those eyeballs then Jeff tells them they can eat those and a few other "delicacies" for immunity or if they think they're safe they can sit out with chocolate and peanut butter until the challenge is over. Also curious about breaking the tubes on Ghost Island - the sign just says to break one it doesn't say break the next one or to do it in order but everyone is picking the next unbroken tube. Wondering if nobody is thinking of skipping ahead or if they were maybe told it had to be in order I like Donathan, I don't think he'll win but I like him. I don't get the sub-titles though, I'm not from his region and I understand him just fine; are people having trouble with his accent? Still no clear front runner. I'd say Dom since he is or appears to be running the show but I wonder how many votes he'll get at final (Chris is out for sure, from his interviews recently he's just as arrogant now as he was in the game), Wendell maybe and he'd deserve it if he won. There are few front runners but still quite a few "invisible" players. I know we like to say that Jeff and Survivor loves the guys more but really there are a couple female players still in the game that I have no clue who they are or what they're doing except being mostly in the background even at the challenges.
  9. We did see that. You're right did a quick re-watch and it was there. Don't know how I missed it - editing my first post to correct that. Glad at least they aren't actually teasing us with previews and previouslys of things we don't get to see after all.
  10. It's funny how some characters grab you right away. Ade is one of those, I kept thinking could they have him recover and come back to Nonnatus as the new handyman or something? I really liked his attitude and his character and how he got along with both Reggie and Sister Monica Joan. Just liked the guy right from the start. I'm also liking Lucille a lot, she was a good choice to add to the show. Barbara looks good. Violet I completely agree with you; she has helmet head hair and frizzy besides. It might be trying to mimic the style of the times but it doesn't work for her. The other hairstyle I don't like is Trixie's - it's not horrible I just keep thinking it's a little too long to be flattering on her. The "previouslys" annoyed me a bit because we were again shown that we in the US aren't getting the entire show. Twice now, once in the preview for E4 at the end of E3 and again last night in the previously on they showed all the ladies in the living room watching the female cosmonaut on TV, a scene we never got to see in the US airing. There are no commercials on PBS and the show ends at about 10 minutes before the hour but then they take five more minutes to do a behind the scenes. I just don't see why they have to clip scenes from us. (EDITED to remove the complaint about the missing scene. It was there and I missed it; twice! Still keeping the part about why they have to edit things out at all but at least that one scene was actually there)
  11. I have to admit I've driven that from the East Coast and I preferred it. No I wouldn't have done it with sick kids and you have to plan and allow for extra rest stops to stretch legs and burn off energy but I've loved all our long car trips to the west (not cross country yet; furthest we ever went was Montana) and the things you can see on the way. The one time I flew to Denver then just drove from there to Colorado Springs; that was the WORST - the quick altitude change hit me like a ton of bricks, I could barely walk from the car to Panera for lunch because I couldn't breathe and for two days I had this raging headache. Until a local told me the quick cure is drink water like you're OD'ing on it, one day of that and I was back to normal but until then it was just horrible. OK that's enough sharing, don't want to go to far off topic. We all know Jill is the clinger, there is no place Derick can go and nothing he can do that he won't have her glued to his side like those marriage rings also contain an invisible umbilical cord between the two of them. I really wish I knew the truth in his feelings though; I'm divided whether he truly finds it annoying but smiles anyway or whether it strokes his ego to have his oh so submissive wife on display for all the world to see how a perfect marriage should work. Personally I think given Dericks hubris on social media he likes the "strokes his ego" option. And of course behind it all is the home life we don't see, the money problems we don't see and the real story on their income, fund raising and donation grifting ways that we'll never really know.
  12. And when he met her it was only after her police inside man took him and she had multiple bodyguards standing close. She doesn't seem like the type to take foolish chances without a plan (basically the opposite of Adam) so what sort of scenario would mean he got her alone long enough to kill her and dump her body? Or did he get the bodyguards too or did he hire a hit team through his "bank manager"? If she has the money she got what she wanted and I can't even think of a reason she'd want to see Adam again. Of all the possibly scenarios the "Adam killed his sister all by himself" plot is the least believable. Of course that brings up the question if he didn't what did he want that alibi for - which is exactly what the show wants us to think and wonder about. Juniors down a well was an OK subplot, I don't hate or love the guy. Jerry put fun in the main plot but I have to say - there is no amount of money per episode that show could pay me that would entice me to do that scene with the spiders. Honestly that would have been my line in the sand....Use fake spiders, do something else or fire me but I ain't doin it.........Oddly though if it were my scene and they wanted it with snakes I'd have agreed. But creepy crawlies --- Nope!
  13. I think Mary getting rid of all the comic books and finding excuses for why they were all bad wasn't because she truly objected to some like Casper but it was a power struggle. She told Sheldon "No" to something she found objectionable, he pushed the boundaries and argued so she lost her temper and just grabbed everything. I can agree but at the same time there has to be a line - I mean when you think about it an 8yr old could cook but I wouldn't let mine read 50 Shades of Grey based on his ability to make a hot dog, mac & cheese and green beans. They missed an opportunity with the colleges, CalTech and MIT but the counselor should have mentioned Princeton so Sheldon could have rejected it with a comment like "aren't I a little too smart for them" or similar.
  14. I took that to mean her Riverdancing turned him on and he didn't want her "enticing" anyone else.............. which I hope is the correct interpretation because for Sheldon that is major character growth. Not the best episode but not terrible either. Did they say though where the Wolowitz babies were while Dad was away and Mom was partying? Or do we assume they were either at Bernadette's parents or Stuart was watching them? I'll go all the way back and say: Peter MacNicol = Dragonslayer. Rumor is he actually hates that move and leaves it off his resume but I loved it and for awhile I had a major crush on Peter despite the age difference .
  15. Very late to the Josiah/Lauren news; didn't even know. Guess I'll reserve judgement on her personality until she pops up on the show and we get to see her in action; let's just hope she's not another giggle Kendra. TLC better get moving on new episodes, the Duggars are throwing out engagements and babies faster and faster these days (on their way to world domination through procreation) On her looks though - I immediately though Amber Benson (best known as Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer). I think there's a really close resemblance there:
  16. OK what happened with Sig and Jake? I thought it would be Jake and his hot head going off but it was Sig that broke first. But was what Jake said that bad and was it on purpose or did he say it wrong? All I really got out of it was Jake was telling Sig that Sig talked to other captains about how fishing was going which helped give him ideas where to go and not to go. Sig, from what I could tell, took that to mean Jake was saying all Sig did was go where other either told him or clued him in. That apparently is something bad in the fishing world and caused Sig to lose his shit. Which in turn, of course, meant Jake lost his shit. Jake might have been right for once not picking up that phone at the end. The rest was the predictable mix of fishing, accidents and mistakes and good and bad crab pots. Not boring though. I did feel really bad for the guy on the other boat that got hit was that bait.......50lbs frozen is nothing to sneeze at...........he's lucky it didn't break his neck! To much Cornelia Maria of course. And I used to think I liked Casey but haven't seen him in awhile and now find him grating and immature. Yeah for the Fast Forward button.
  17. Anyone checking out Rinders blog? He's been publishing book excerpts every Saturday from his anonymous source "Terra Incognito" who's writing about his experience. It is Fascinating and at the same time jaw droppingly appalling. The guy is documenting everything that happened when Scientology forced him to help cover up a death on their property. The blog posts are up to week 4, if you haven't seen them yet it's well worth the read. Because Mike posts daily but this is Saturday only easiest way to go back is open current week and scroll to the bottom of the story before the comments, links to the other weeks are there.
  18. That's a great idea. From current pictures of Judy Parfitt she could play SMJ 20 or so years younger easily. They could focus on that or they could do several looks over the years with other actresses playing her younger. But I like the idea of seeing her another way. It would be fun if they did a flashback to Nurse Valeries birth. That was already a sweet moment when Valerie first arrived a Nonnatus and SMJ recognized her. I hate that Trixie relapsed but it's a good storyline to get her off the show for a bit and honestly from some of the scenes in this episode it's time. They're barely able to hide that bump now. Phyllis was also perfect even if she did say too much to Christopher. But honestly she never gave away secrets she just told him to tread lightly. Didn't like the polygamy story much; I wish they had touched a little more on the second wife's age and status. Remembering in the S1E1 they talked about when Conchita first came to England with her husband and questions were asked about her age and marriage., As SMJ put it the impediments were "swept away" but at least the questions were asked. Now some 20 years later this 15yo, pregnant child accompanied by an already married man twice her age seems to just enter the country and that's that? Maybe it's hard to get in the mindset of the era for certain stories but this one was difficult to reconcile.
  19. The best part of the episode was possibly the most subtle: Seen down below the balcony while Rick was reading the letter was Jerry, happily walking baby Grace back and forth rocking her and, at one point, twirling in a circle. I actually laughed out loud at how cute that was. All I can give this episode is half a thumb up that it moved along faster than some others this season and that finally Simon got what was coming to him. Everything else was pretty predictable from the false map to Negan listening in on the rebels meeting to Dwight finding out Laura was alive and told all (and that she was the one on the side of the road). There's balance in anything of course, twist after twist isn't great watching either but no twists, no wrenches or surprises is just as dull and it feels like nothing happened here we couldn't see coming a mile away. Only thing to hope is it was all set up for an epic battle next episode that does include a few twists or surprises beyond what we think is going to happen.
  20. This might be one of the most awesome backhanded compliments ever! It's funny how Jill and Derrick aren't on the show anymore but they get the most board activity as they desperately try to stay relevant and in the public eye while he proves his "worth" as the leader of his family and future super preacher/missionary. I wouldn't be surprised if he pictures himself as the next Billy Graham, and he probably thinks he deserves to reach that level of recognition. Meanwhile he's OK living off grifting the fans for donations and spending his wife's interest earnings (if and when JB loosens the purse strings and lets them dip into that money). Of course even Billy knew when to be discreet and when to temper comments so he didn't alienate the audience he was trying to reach, Derrick has absolutely no filter from whatever thought he wants to roll off his brain which is exactly why he has and will continue to slowly alienate all but the most devout fans. If he had a clue he'd being handling things the exact opposite of how he has been. Missionary 101; do not insult or degrade those you are trying to "reach". Pushing them away with holier than thou disdain doesn't exactly scream come to my side you'll love it here.
  21. I liked the "A" story of Steve and the hit man. Rough justice since he'll never see trial but the relatives all thanking Steve at the end was a nice touch. Does Scott now have a clause in his contract that he doesn't have to work with Alex for more then 5min per episode or something? I know he fixed it so he can skip a certain number of episodes but popping up for one scene then pretty much disappearing is a little weird. I like Ian Anthony Dale and I sort of like Adam but they need to figure him out because he's coming close to comic relief now. He's not so much "investigating" as stumbling around the island finding information from blind luck or simply by making himself so obvious when he think's he's being covert that he's pissing off the wrong people Literally every crime boss knew who he was, what he was up to and that he potentially had that money hidden somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if Jessie was really alive, that whole car scene was staged and Adam didn't figure it out. I know that's not what happened but I'm also sure if it were he, of all people, would actually fall for it. If they want to keep him in the show that's fine just drop his current story line, integrate him into the team and make him a special consultant or something but stop making him so fumblingly dumb!
  22. I wonder if there are really people out there who actually still care about Josh and Cornelia Marie and have things that qualify as "all your questions" lined up? First time I heard this I thought, nope, no questions for me, we know where he's been and mostly it's trying to get Jake out of trouble. I picture a session where they eagerly sit down with Josh and he looks at an audience and says "OK ready to answer any and all questions about what I've been up to and what I'm doing next, who's first"..........<crickets>............"No really guys anything you want to know about my crabbing plans"............<crickets, coughs, restless rustling>............"Hey, seriously I'm back and ready to answer whatever you want to know".............<lengthy silence, one voice says "well">............"Great finally, what's your question"....................Audience member: When's Sig coming on stage?
  23. I thought it started slow and thought I wouldn't like it. I think I was waiting for the other shoe to drop - what's the "case" of the week, is the artificial turf poisoned, are the homeland players being stalled so a crime can be committed somewhere? That's how the show usually goes. But it was refreshing and fun and in spots very, very funny to have them just doing something for themselves. The resolution of Walter's "date" was nice becuase it wasn't drawn out. Although how Flo even with a low EQ (as Paige would say) can't see how Sylvester feels is beyond me. Also loved seeing Penn Jillette again; he looks really good but even though he's kept the weight off for a few years his "new" look still startles me a little. The only thing I wish they'd drop is the money issue. Scorpion is broke, Scorpion has money for Cabe's bail, Scorpion is broke and needs the bail money back, Scorpion gets the bail money but is still broke but has money for tools and gadgets. Maybe the writers could stop swinging from one extreme to the other and not make that such a huge plot point of being broke or near broke all the time or only when convenient for the story. They don't have to be rich either, happy medium to focus on other things would be nice for the viewers (IMHO)
  24. The only problem I had was the set up for the end gag. How did super smart Leonard not realize it would be Gates when his wife was at the party and said she had a "surprise"? I feel like even Sheldon at his most socially awkward could have figured that out. Also loved Raj's reaction to Gates, initial excitement and toned down excitement. I don't have a problem with Bernadette, I don't think she's gone dumb she just shifted her focus and is forgetting to shift it back or switch between adult time and baby time. I think a lot of Mom's do that at first then they learn the balance and they just took that and inflated it for comedy. I don't look for much "reality" in a sitcom anyway. But I do like where they're going with Penny, her acting background and general outgoing personality made her a good choice for Sales and the idea of her moving to PR could be realistic. Plus it's a nice change and what's likely to happen at their age instead of keeping her stagnant still pursuing the acting that never quite pans out. Now if they just knew what to do with Raj, let him move on personally and professionally like the rest of the gang.
  25. That was the most fun I've had watching the show in awhile. I think it helps to already be a Scooby fan which I am so for me it was perfect even if it wasn't perfect. Any little nitpicks...I just don't care, the fun parts won out over them. Basically loved all the call outs to the cartoon, they didn't really try to change or update the look and feel of it at all Can't even blame Sam for being a downer - I figure the last time he got zapped into a TV show he had his nuts cracked and turned into the Impala (which as he mentioned to Dean was pretty uncomfortable when they needed something out of the trunk). Caught Scrappy right away, loved the guys jumping into Castiel's arms, Sam's Marmaduke comment and Dean being indignant, Dean and the Sandwich.......it just goes on and on. But sorry that I completely missed this when Dean slapped Sam. They really did try to hit all the great things about being in a cartoon.
