  1. You're absolutely correct. I never listened to a podcast until 2-3 years ago, a friend I trust insisted I listen to one. I gave it a try, and loved it. But it was a subject I love, and it was well-written. Most of my podcasts are either TV or music related, and yes, some of them are crap. I'll see one that sounds interesting, and delete five minutes in. But the ones I like, I listen to every time they release a new one. Example: Jeff has the official Survivor one. I listen to it each week, and it has some great insight into each week's episode. It's not perfect, Jeff tends to go on a little too long about how great his crew/staff is, but the insight you get is really interesting. He also has Charlie from last season on each week, he explains really well how a player approaches some of these situations (since he's been thru it). HBO has some great podcasts also. If there's an area that interests you (sewing, food, Pilates, whatever) find a podcast or two, and try them. You might be surprised how much fun it can be to listen to a well-made one. PS: You need a podcast player. I use Pocket Casts, free version, has everything I need, easy to use.
  2. Yikes! I can suffer thru his scenes, but barely. He's written as a doofus, which takes me out of the scene every time he opens his mouth. One can be a non-Frasier type (eg Martin) without being a simpleton.
  3. Pod Save America is a huge podcast. Heard by over 1.5 million a week. It's even had four specials on HBO. About 1/3 of America listens to at least one podcast a week. That's 100 million Americans. Jon was a speechwriter for Pres Obama (and others) before getting into podcasting.
  4. I got the impression it was only Celebrimbor who was tricked into seeing Serenity Now. Sauron/Annatar made him see calm, so he would go back to work. In reality, the city was in panic.

    S01.E10: Outside

I'll probably rewatch anyway. I rarely do a rewatch (like you can count them on one hand), but this show was so good that I'm actually looking forward to a rewatch. I'll start a couple weeks before Silo II comes out. Do we know when that is?
  6. The blond lady elf is Mirdania, an Elven-smith, and Celebrimbor's lead assistant. She's played by Amelia Kenworthy. I noticed she was invisible also while wearing the ring, but I doubt that's the "One Ring". It's probably Sauron Annatar just practicing.
  7. Not convinced that's Saruman. He wasn't full-on evil at that time, which this (Blue?) wizard is. Agree. My main complaint is how many story lines they're juggling. Cut out half of them, and it makes for a faster moving, much more interesting series.
  8. While I'm on board with Stranger=Gandalf, I don't see Saruman at all. He wasn't evil early on, not until the Palantir took over his mind. Plus, they've made it clear he's a blue wizard if anything. I guess I completely missed this. What happened to Nori's ear, and how did Gandalf's DNA get mixed up with the Harfoots? I must be dense to have missed this...
  9. Loved Stage Three. Ninja vs the Course, the way God intended ANW to be run. No time limit, no racing, just pure ninja skills.
  10. Call me the outlier, I've been enjoying this season. I watched one each night, to have time to savor each episode. My only complaint is too many plot lines. When you have an episode that skips an entire story line, then you need to rethink your writing. But that's a minor issue, and probably why they released the first three eps at once. I also think we're going to see many of these plot lines start to converge, making for a less convoluted story. Someone mentioned "cramming modern politics". I don't see it at all. You can read anything into anything, but it wasn't so overt as to hit me over the head. The actor playing Bronwyn decided after S1 that she wants to quit acting for now, and get involved in her country's politics (she's Iranian). It had nothing to do with the series. Even though we left S1 thinking she had survived, they had to write her out, hence that scene. Your comment is a good example of letting your strong dislike for this show make up reasons for things happening, with no basis in reality. I think you are way off-base here. They've done nothing to make us think that, and in fact, have shown that the relationship between Arondir and Bronwyn was a developing one, not an old, established one. The people know. There were calls from the crowd about a queen who was handicapped, or not all there, or some such. I think the Eagles do their own thing. They are considered a higher life, not quite Valar, but close. I don't think (WAG) the Numenoreans can summon them at will. Eagles gonna eagle. It clearly was there to endorse Miriel, but quick thinking by Pharazon's gang made it look like it was for him. Can't wait for E4!
  11. I can only like this once. Agree with every bit of it.
  12. The three evils said they were removing the veil that wrapped his mind, from his "space travels". Once they removed it, he was fully literate. I just rewatched this last episode last night, and caught them saying that. She heard Celebrimbor say the exact same phrases as Adar, about Sauron trying to harness power over men. It was too coincidental, and sparked her concern.
  13. Stick with it. She gets better, and becomes integral to the story. I felt the same way, and eventually got to the payoff.
  14. Just to be clear, any ongoing series that was filmed at Paramount Studios is moving over to CBS Studios. They were sister studios anyway, same ownership.
  15. It's already finished filming. In post-production now, will air in 2-3 months (or so).
  16. Barely watching. I miss the thrill of watching a ninja compete against themself and the course. Back when most didn't hit a buzzer, because the obstacles were so friggin' hard. Now it's just tweens and racing, on a course so easy it can be finished in 46 seconds. There was a reason Ninja v Ninja was a ratings failure.
  17. She's been coy and media-silent on this issue. There's been no official due date announcement, and she hasn't posted any pics in a while, so it's hard to say if she had it, or how far along she might be. Perhaps some info will be given at this event.
  18. Barely. Possibly the least exciting hour of ANW since I started watching. And I've been watching so long, they used to compete during the day.
  19. No, it was the Spring finale. BB will be back in Sept/Oct of this year, with the final eight episodes. Then it will be the SERIES FINALE.
  20. I knew Ozymandias from Breaking Bad. That was the title of the second-to-last episode, and the only episode of TV I've ever watched where I felt like I had been physically punched in the gut. That title has stuck with me since then. Exactly this. All the contestants have daily "confessionals", one on one with a camera person & producer, and they say all kinds of things. They get them to comment on other players, themselves, possible alliances, etc. Then when the season is done, they go thru hours of tape to find just the right quote, for just the right time. Heck, more times than not the excerpt you see being played is not even from that day.
  21. How do you know he doesn't? Give the writers some credit, and let them tell the story.
  22. {No Spoilers} The twins battle was in the book. Note (and I'm not directing this at you @aghst as many others make the same mistake) that there is only one book, "Fire & Blood", not "books". GRRM intended "Fire & Blood" to be the complete history of the approx 300 year Targaryen Dynasty, from Aegon the Conqueror up to the end (roughly "Game of Thrones" era). In typical GRRM style, it spiraled out of control, so he split it into two parts. The first was Fire & Blood, covering about 150 years, and published in 2018. The second is both untitled, and again typical GRRM... unwritten. There were some previous novellas and short stories that he rolled into Fire & Blood. What makes F&B unique is that it isn't written as fiction, but rather as history. And the historical narrators often cite various and differing accounts of the same events. I found it an interesting, if somewhat dry, read. But the guts of the story are in the book, and this gives the writers a very detailed blueprint to follow. WIth the usual allowances for drama and TV.
  23. So either start a thread, or wait. Not one single word about a future episode should be entered in an older thread. Not even "it was great".
