  1. Pigs will fly first.
  2. And for those too young to recognize it, the song over the closing credits was "Time in a Bottle", by Jim Croce. It was his second, and last, number one hit. He had died in a plane crash not long before.
  3. I think it was behind one of Reba's drawings. They didn't notice it until it fell, and the drawing came loose. Then they saw what was behind it. I *think*
  4. I had forgotten about that line. But now that you mention it, I don't think we've heard it since New Era. I guess in this touchy-feely climate, Jeff wants you to "air it all out" before you disappear.
  5. It actually looks like a very professional job. Very well done, not cheap at all.
  6. He also played the principal in Young Sheldon.
  7. Agree to disagree. I like her look.
  8. Did I love it? No. But for a pilot, it was more than okay. Especially sitcom pilots, which are notorious for taking a few eps to get their characters established. Chuck Lorre has a history of making great sitcoms. I'll give this one a chance. Live audience. Chuck Lorre said in no uncertain terms, it's a live audience, and they don't add any fake or canned laughter.

  10. This is an adaptation. The writers will make changes, to make it the best story they can tell for TV (or a movie, if that's the case). And sometimes those changes can be drastic. As someone who loves the books (read them multiple times), I was initially upset with this series. It was so different, it didn't follow the books. Then I came to realize there was no way to do that. The books had characters change every few years. TV series need some continuity, so they came up with the idea of clones, and suspended hibernation. The books were written (for the most part) in the 1950s. Too many archaic story lines, that didn't age well. So the writers changed them. I went from hating it, to loving it, once I understood what they were doing. I even rewatched S1, and realized it was a great story, and my short-sightedness was the only reason I didn't love it the first time thru. Next big change is The Mule. Let's see how they handle that. tl;dr Accept this is a TV adaptation of a great book series, and enjoy it for what it is.
  11. Agree to disagree. Absolutely compelling episode. And needed to fully understand Sofia. Just because it's called "The Penguin" doesn't mean we can't fully develop other characters. It makes for a fuller, richer tapestry. I hope Batman doesn't show up. I'm happy where we are.
  12. No, typically they appear the next day. Sometimes at 2-3 in the morning, other times later in the day. There may be exceptions, but every time I've tried, it's always next day.
  13. Of all the new procedurals, this is dropping to the bottom of my rankings, quickly. The concept isn't bad, but it needs really strong writing to keep it interesting week to week. And we're not getting that. Some can skate by on the strength of the cast, some have a great overall plot, but this is weak on both, and needs better writing. It's a little too far fetched, the writing takes great leaps of faith, and I'm just not feeling like this is one I want to keep watching. I'll give it one or two more, and see if it improves.
  14. Against the rules. You have to leave the pieces in a pile on the table, you can't spread them out on the ground. Maybe you don't make a single tall pile like Genevieve. I'd need to go back and see how much space was on top of that table. I was convinced it was Rome throwing the challenge, so he could get his enemies out. Maybe even Gen going along. But they would have showed us the confessional where they discussed it. Or maybe he did it on his own. Although he seems very competitive, perhaps too much to throw it. But dang he was bad.
  15. In brief, arbitrage is buying and selling something, usually almost instantly, and making money on the difference. In energy arbitrage, maybe you see some producer with too much electricity selling it cheap for $100/MWh, and at the same time you see some distributor that needs it willing to pay $105/MWh. So you buy a bunch cheap, and sell it instantly for $5 profit (times however many MWh were involved). Do that often enough, with enough volume, and it can be very profitable. Arbitrage exists with almost every commodity, even stocks. Sorry you asked? 😁
  16. He'll always be Dr. Chang from LOST to me.
  17. I definitely noted the similarity between Foundation (great series!) and the opening sequence to this.
  18. Yes!
  19. You make some good points. But one small correction here: First, he wanted to win her over to his side, fair and square. He didn't want to mind-spell her. Second, he couldn't mind spell her, she was too strong, especially with the ring. The female smith was Mirdania, played by Amelia Kenworthy, in her first role out of drama school. She did a fantastic job. #justiceformirdania
  20. Actually, it kinda does. Psychologically. Think of it like having to walk a narrow plank over a gorge. If you had a wide bridge, and someone painted a one foot wide line down the middle, you could walk it easy, and never step outside the line. But if it's a one foot wide plank, walking it becomes terrifying, and you can barely make it, if at all. Same thing with water. If it's eight feet deep, and you're 5'8", it's over your head, but not that scary. If it's 100' deep, it's scary. Jeff said on one of the podcasts that they provide bamboo now. He also said they move camps every season. They have to, to keep from environmentally destroying any specific spot, and give them a chance to regenerate between seasons.
  21. He's not Saruman. They've all but confirmed it's not him.
  22. I can't see them killing a kid, and that's basically what he is.
  23. It was part of a challenge. You can't take anything with you that was used in, or part of, a challenge (unless specifically stated otherwise). Taking the rice would be no different than taking the knife. It was a boss move though.
  24. Nice catch! Terribly under-rated show.
  25. Best episode so far! Stone Face. 😁
