  1. Really?! I didn't know about this notification thing...but not sure how useful it would be for me.
  2. (Oops! Looks like I confused the name of her current show! My bad)
  3. Nextiteration - yes, I agree, Lisa's This Is America show is great. Adding someone like her to The View would be great! I miss her as a cohost. Hasselbeck was a horrendous replacement.
  4. (I'm looking forward to costumes for tomorrow's show!)
  5. Out of curiosity, I have watched a couple shows of both "The Talk" and "The Real" and those are both dumbed down, babbling chat fests, so ANY attempt by ABC to have The View provide more informative, news things is a big plus in my book.
  6. Lots of people just like watching an inane train wreck (look at Bravo's popularity!) so The View may have lost a lot of those viewers. And a little different age demographic amount the hosts would be nice IF the person fit in well and had moderate intelligence! But honestly, when I now watch an episode I usually learn something or think about things a little differently due to the discussions which are more thought provoking than the babbling discourse of the past couple of years. And, as much as I recognize Barbara's place in paving the way for women in news, her repetitious stories and odd behavior was a waste of my time ...as was most of Sherrie's chatter when I watched an episode.
  7. Sounds like this shift may give the show better access to using ABC news reporters to join the cohosts at the table to discuss issues. It's definitely a move away from the "fluffy" , dumbed down approach the show has taken in recent years. It will may distinguish the show a bit more from other overly chatty day time talk shows. Wonder if the Monday flash sales and in- show commercials are a thing of the past or are needed to generate revenue bexwuse of the programming shift. The New York Daily article provided the text from the internal memo that was sent to staff this week : "As many of you know firsthand, The View has often called on our on-air team to help viewers understand the biggest stories of the day, from Ebola to Election Night," Goldston wrote. "Moving The View to our non-fiction programming group now allows it to fully draw on the vast resources of ABC News and our team in New York, especially now that the show is based right next to the Barbara Walters building," Goldston wrote. "We started to ramp up our non-fiction programming several years ago, and under the strong leadership of Morgan Hertzan, Lincoln Square Productions is growing fast and doing some simply amazing work." "Award-winning shows like NY Med, Dr. Besser's Ebola documentary for Discovery and Surgeon Oz have broadened our perspective on how we better explain the world to our audience and draw new viewers to ABC News."
  8. Sherri seems a bit manic and overly "up" and smiley during that interview. She's commented in the past that she's known for her smile but sometimes that huge grin with abnormally white veneers is just out of place. I would hope that some people on Twitter are holding her accountable for her insensitive, inappropriate comment when listing ailments that "I've got depression". That ( mental illness) is not something to joke. She would be incensed if someone did that about her son's ailments. Of course, she would probably just delete anyone commenting negatively about her awkward interview so no one would see them.
  9. Yes, so unless her surgery is for something serious that requires Tim to stay by her side (which I doubt) then tim could certainly get the kids out of the house to go see the play. At the very least, he could just bring Grace - a perfect father daughter date - to show support for their friend sherri. Why wouldn't elizabeth encourage him to do that?
  10. Sherri has about 30 shows and less than a month to go before her Broadway gig is up. Wonder if either the Hasselbeck's or the Wahlberg's will bring their kids to see the play before Sherrie's run is over.
  11. On a much less serious note, just wanted to comment on their discussion about coloring being calming and meditative. I have a dear friend who is an intelligent, charismatic nurse educator - she and her husband are actively involved in their community, volunteer activities, etc. and she keeps crayons and coloring books in her house and like to color from time to time as a destressor which I always thought was a bit different and quirky. She has rheumatoid arthritis and just had joint surgery (has had over 15 surgeries since diagnosis in her late 20s) and I almost bought a new coloring book to put in a "speedy recovery" gift bag I'm bringing to her next week. Now I'm thinking I need to print out some information on zen tangle ( had never heard of it) and add some paper and colored pencils. I may even try zen tangling some picture frames as holiday gifts!
  12. The Parkside School was really fortunate to have joy and sherrie and other "names" participate in their fundraiser. I looked it up and it's a small, fairly exclusive school with under 90 students and a staff of around 55 and focuses on teaching kids with "learning based disabilities" . One of the art teachers is Lauren Behar - joy's daughter? The event had al roker and his wife as guests of honor. I wonder if the sons of al roker and sherrie both attend?
  13. I would actually be surprised if she did NOT include any Kardashian type, reality show or other fame-seeking "celebrities" on her show and stuck with inspirational, legitimate people who've had a positive impact on the world and are worthy of the list. Of course, she ( actually Geddie) define what "fascinating" is so they can pretty much justify anyone. I would also be impressed if she actually had site own interviews with each of the 10 but that is unlikely. Regarding Meredith, I still tape the show but usually don't end up watching all of it. Her on the couch are my favorite part but the intro topics and games I typically fast forward through. Maybe she should only have a 30 minute interview heavy show. I do like her and find her genuine and good at interviews.
  14. Ah! So Babs was pursuaded to do another annual fascinating people show. So even if she is having a "befuddled" day and is not at her best, they can edit and reshoot to make her look great! And if Monica L. ramps up her self promotion as "patient zero" of social media bullying, who wants to place bets that she might be one of the featured people?
  15. Sorry, I wasn't sure how to spell her last name so I just used P. Just looked it up...Valerie Plame, the woman who was a former covert CIA agent who was outed a while back.
  16. FWIW, I thought the Valerie P. interview was fascinating and really a great segment. All the cohosts asked really great questions. (Loved Whoopi's "do you miss it?" because I was thinking exactly that) Regarding Monica, I also don't think the Tyler Clementi situation prompted her to speak out. I think she is trying to position herself as a spokesperson for the problem of social media bullying and will write books on that and try for a lucrative speaking career on the subject which is very hot right now. I think she is a smart woman who has had trouble finding a job/career that she wants to do. I'm sure with her education she could find a low profile job somewhere, but she doesn't want that - she likes being in the limelight and wants a job that pays well and has a bit of glamor and publicity with it. Barbara W. has spoken about her sympathetically in the past saying Monica can't find a job...no, she could find a job...she just wants a certain type of job and salary and is playing the sympathy card. I feel a bit sorry for her about getting caught up in the situation, but I think the blame falls on both her and the married president that cheated. Shame on them both. I have friends who were really enamoured with their bosses who had the strength and moral integrity to resist temptation.
  17. I may have heard the last name wrong...the first name was definitely 'Fran'. Deleted the show so I can't go back and check. It's probably the same person. She has stepped up her game this season. And I agree that Sherrie probably vetoed a lot of more appropriate clothes so we often saw her in short, illfitting , sleeveless stuff. Jenny usually looked great.
  18. I am pretty impressed with what the four ladies are wearing this season. Each has their own style. In particular what Rosie P. And Nicole wear are terrific - elegant but with a touch of hipness, age- appropriate, classy and really well fitted. During the makeover segment today they mentioned the show's fashion coordinator was Fran Thomas. Is that the same person that did the last couple of seasons? Because it's hard to believe the same person that dressed Sherri so badly is dressing the hosts now.
  19. Just wanted to comment on Friday's show...well done, ladies. Great topics and discussions. I feel like I learned something. So different from recent past seasons. I'm putting most of the reason on the removal of Geddie and others who were in charge of building the content of each show..they thought viewers wanted that fluff and crap...WRONG. But also, this group of ladies ( and only having 4 of them) messy and compliment each other well. P.s. cement head, don't feel bad....you too would look great if a professional was doing your hair daily! Nicole seems approachable...might be worth emailing or tweeting her to ask about hairspray.
  20. Well, for what it's worth, I prefer the animated, feisty Whoopi over the laid back, disengaged one. And with only four cohosts on the panel, I wouldn't be surprised if she's been asked/told to play a more active role in discussions and not just "moderate" discussions. The dynamics shift a bit with only 4 rather than 5 people at the table...I like 4 better.
  21. Just watched most of today's show and loved Nicole's comment about Russel B mastering"the art of the lean in interview." When someone leans in and makes full eye contact it can be a little disconcerting to some people. Not sure if he does it intentionally, knowing it might put people off a bit, or if he does it to fully focus on the person he is interacting with, but her succinct comment was spot on!
  22. 1. Sherrie may have meant it as a compliment, but linking the Rosie P video on her Twitter does seem like a little bit of a dig. That being said, rosie P. Was indeed sexy then, her dancing launched her career, and she is still sexy now. More Importantly, as a person she has EVOLVED in a positive way. She discusses things intelligently, has a big heart for other people, is actively involved in fundraising, community and giving back to the world, dresses appropriately for her current job, has a broad and unique life experience to draw from and exudes authenticity. These qualities are what differentiates her from Sherrie. 2. Have been watching Lisa Lings "This Is Life" show on CNN. Good stuff, check it out if you haven't already.
  23. Finally got around to watching Friday's show. The discussion about the Oregon lady who has a brain tumor was great. Refreshing to see how heartfelt and sincere all cohosts were about the issue. The discussion on education and teaching children was also great. Rosie Perez so impressed me with her grasp of the need to not just get kids to memorize and learn stuff but to teach them critical thinking skills. I support Common Core standards (’cause it's a step in the right direction) for that reason - it promotes critical thinking and standardizes minimum learning requirements for all US kids , regardless of where they live. I don't know if Rosie went to college but kudos to her - I can just imagine Boston college alum Elizabeth H speaking about the same issue in a disjointed word salad.
  24. She never was very likeable for me from the first episode. Her talking head pieces and comments on the workroom always had a self-important, condescending toword others and rude vibe to them. I'm all for being confident and having high self esteem, but her words and actions had a rude, immature, graceless and unclassy direction. I understand that editors can "spin" her as the season's villain but not showing clips of her being charming, supporting other designers, doc. ( although I bet there are few, if any, of those) but it doesn't negate the fact that she said and did what we did see on air. Bottom line, she is an unlikeable, unclassy mediocre "designer". She should be grateful for the exposure the show gave her and be ashamed of her actions.
  25. I love a good crime drama so am giving this a try. The plot line is a little convoluted and the flashbacks are getting too repetitious. We've seen the same flashback scenes in episodes 1, 2 and 3. While in some they do give some new details, I feel it's a waste of my time to see so much of the same stuff again...hope this pattern doesn't continue in future episodes. And as a,poster mentioned above, I too found the scene in the car where she is told her husband is OK/not fooling around and then in the next minute she is coming on to the guy just wrong...hard to believe
