Am recording the show now that Joy is back on to check out the new season. Have enjoyed the discussions (e.g. Hillary emails) but they do need to control the cross talk. On a more superficial level, like the table and new set design but Raven's outfits for some reason bug me. I am fine with Whoopies relaxed, big cotton bag lady outfits and fun shoes - that has been her style for years. But today While everyone else was in one layer and casual, she was super fussy: top, shirt and coat (3 layers?!), many pieces of jewelry, big swirly hair and heavy makeup. Is that her "look" ? To always be overly done, styled and accessorized?

If I recall correctly, several years back Rosie alluded to Chelsea being in a boarding school out west (Utah, maybe?) to get help for learning issues (but maybe it was also mental health related but just wasn't made public?) Does anyone recall this? I think it was when Rosie was with still Kelly and they were doing all they could to help and support Chelsea. Both Parker and Chelsea were away at boarding schools. Someone on Twitter a week back commented to Rosie if other options besides drugs were tried to deal with Chelsea's MH issues and Rosie's comment was along the lines of " if only you knew!" Which gave me the impression the family has been dealing with Chelsea's emotional issues for a while and exhausting all possible options.

I like table discussions with 4 people best; 5 or 6 and you get way too much crosstalk. I think next season we will see cohosts taking more time off (like whoppi gone a few days for a movie, Michelle taking a long weekend so she can take weekend stand up gigs, Candace needing an extra day off here or there for her other TV show, etc) so they can just go to the bullpen and "NEXT BATTER UP!" they will have one of the "in the wings" contributors step in to fill the chair. But designated days is an interesting idea: Must have Monday with Molly (continued selling of products) Tasty Tuesday with Padma (recipes, etc) Wacky Wednesday with Sherri (stupid skits) Topical Thursday with Ana N. (Political with a strong Republican slant) Fashion Friday with Stacey

FWIW, my guess is that with 6 regular cohosts and another 5 "contributors" that can rotate in as needed, there will be frequent days where one or more regular cohosts are off to do other gigs so there is plenty of backups that can step in. It's almost like a baseball team with a deep bench of people that are "on deck" to step in. Next batter up! This arrangement certainly distinguishes The View from other talk shows! So Candace B. gets stressed and emotional (a la Hasselbeck) after a tough discussion? No problem, take a couple days off to regroup and the next batter steps in to fill the void! And if a regular cohost decides mid-season to leave the show for good (hmm...has that ever happened before?!), no problem 'cuz someone is ready to step in. Maybe ABC is hoping that Whoopie is so unhappy with the new 5 or 6 person table and other changes that she will finally leave the show before new season starts and they can present a really new face for the show - would like to see Joy be moderator!

Wow, just stopped by, out of habit, to read recent posts and what great news! Joy will be a panelist (I hope she held out for big bucks and has been tasked with holding her own against all other panelists), the show is live 5 days a week (no more non- news Friday show which is great fir an election year...but you know Whoopie hates not having a long weekend anymore!), and rotating cohosts which, except for Sherri, I can live with in small doses. The show will go back on my DVR schedule, at least for the first couple weeks, so I can check it out. Do you think there will also be a new set again? Hah! And should we take bets on whether Barbara will make an appearance (prerecorded) to kick off the new season?

Tunia is right.....the date on the story link I posted is recent and I read the article quickly and thought the arrest of him and the other lady ( mom of the toddlers) was also recent. My bad. Even in rereading the article, it is confusing to me. Regardless, he does seem like a really fabulous fellow.

http://patch.com/new-jersey/barnegat-manahawkin/barnegat-pair-face-drug-child-endangerment-charges The guy not only involved himself with Chelsea, but is living with a woman, and her 2 lucky toddlers, in a house with heroin and other drugs. Police involvement not only got Chelsea out but got the 2 toddlers into child protection system away from their sad situation.

Thanks for posting above link to Nicolle article. Boy daytime TV behind the scenes hiring/firing practices are cold! So they offered Nicole one day a week?! Wonder if TBTB wanted to get 5 guest cohosts (Sherrie S, Nicolle, etc) to each fill in one day a week next season - so Monday's would be "Funny" day with Sherrie doing silly skits and making inane comments , Tuesday would be "Politics" day with Nicolle contributing a bit of gravitas, and so on. I couldn't believe when I read Sherry would be back. Know she would jump at the chance for the PR exposure and steady paycheck, and they probably got her cheap, but such a negative step for the show and makes next season not something to look forward to. I do plan to tape Meredith V's revamped show next season to check it out.

I felt bad for Vanina also but then remembered this is a "reality" show so much of it ( if not the majority of what we see on air) is scripted and planned out ahead of time for drama and effect. A few years ago a reality show (can not recall the name right now) was filmed here in my city that involved people buying homes at auctions and then fixing them up to sell them. A friend of a friend who I met after the season was filmed but not all episodes were aired yet was one of the property guys bidding on houses, flipping them, etc. he really opened my eyes about how unreal the reality is! They were often asked to film "spontaneous" scenes over and over again to get it right. producers suggested to the people on the show how to discuss or present things on air to "keep audience interested". The producers wanted to have an underdog in each episode, etc!

Maybe Living Spaces did not see a sufficient increase in business by being linked with Jeff Lewis to make up for what they were paying him. So that, coupled with his unprofessionalism regarding Channa, led to severing the business relationship. I found his "tattling" on Channa kind of funny at first, but the more it went on it was pretty petty and unprofessional of him and I felt kind of bad for Channa and it reflected badly on the company...wonder if she was set up at all? Ironically I got a Living Spaces catalog in the mail a couple days after the Channa episode aired. Frankly, there wasn't a huge difference in the pages Jeff styled (which had his name prominently in a corner) and the other pages done by someone else! By having his office in his house, not only does he get to same monthly rent on an office space but he gets significant tax advantages (deductions on percentage of utillities, house costs, etc) so it is financially beneficial for him.

Yes, I forgot the author part, thanks for adding that. Bottomline, Nicolle doesn't need The View and will do just fine career-wise without it. That being said, her short stint on it certainly put her name and face out there to a big audience and that benefited her. I never watch that other news show she is on but plan to check it out to see her demeanor and delivery on there, especially during this upcoming election year. Sherri, on the other hand, probably has a shorter career-span and hustles to take almost any gig to generate income while she can. I hope for her and Jeffrey's sake, she has the smarts to be investing/saving lots of that money for the lean years down the road. She didn't have the dignity to say "no" when asked to fill in next season - she wants that money and TV exposure. I am still shocked to read that she was even asked back....ugh.
-
She has some dignity, another job with MSNBC (right?), and a husband who also pulls in a steady paycheck so doesn't need the money. Unlike Sherri who jumped at the chance to sign a contract to return as a guest cohost next season - she needs the money and the valuable chance to keep her name in the news and her face in the media.
-
I recognize 3 of these guests.....am I getting old or what? Then of the 3 I recognize, I am interested in none.
-
Love these clever bangs references...but looks like she is growing them out, so . . .
-
I hope for Jeffrey's sake that she does have the same nanny and he has some consistency and routine in his life. I give her credit for hustling and taking all kinds of work to pay the bills, but Sheerie's work schedule is anything but routine.

From today's The New York Post ( so take the quotes from unnamed sources with a grain of salt) : “It’s advisable that you close ranks. That means [cut off] family, Hollywood family, friends, Hollywood friends,” the star was told, according to the business partner. Camille Cosby remains on Bill’s side, despite his constant cheating. She “stopped being embarrassed long ago” by her husband’s affairs, the family source said, but cannot tolerate the “invasion of privacy.” The infidelities were “personal, between Bill and I,” she’s told her circle, the source said. According to the family source, Camille confided, “You have to allow for space to let your partner do what he wants. I have done that and [bill] has done that and there’s no jealously, no friction.” She said every so often the couple goes through an “evaluation period” to determine whether the marriage should continue. “She even once talked to Oprah Winfrey about cleansing herself of baggage every now and again and how it always seems to lead her back to staying with Bill,” the family source said. Rev. Carl Dianda, the couple’s longtime spiritual adviser who presided over their marriage 51 years ago, told The Post his “heart breaks” for her. “She made so many sacrifices for him to have a career.”

She will be doing boxing commentary for ESPN ( which she couldn't do while working two jobs - The View and Broadway), so that is what she was referring to. Now I will go clean my bathrooms!

Oh, he'll be talking about how surrogates are angels and that is how he got the son he always wanted. Not saying anyone will pay him to be an advocate, but he will be positioning himself as someone who supports surrogacy.
-
He probably wants to continue to tweet because it gives him exposure and makes him feel like a "personality". And some media outlet will probably offer to pay him for baby photos, interviews, he can be a pro-surrogacy advocate, etc. so he can use his situation and criticism of Sherri to generate income. His child support money would go a lot farther if he would move out of California......

Yes, Variety has posted that Rosie P will not return next season. Producer Bill said she wants to focus on acting and they will give her a "proper send off." Gotta admit that the fact she was working on Broadway at same time she was co hosting was impressive and she is a hard worker.

Well, OK MedicineCrow. I will admit that I tried watching other day time talk shows a couple years back and not recently so I may be wrong on the content and respect for others's views. My recollection was that when I watched the chat content was very fluffy and no substantive (especially The Talk) and I din 't warm up to any of the hosts. Especially not Osborne or Underwood. Meredith Vs show was OK for a while and did I like how she interviews people. And while The View has turned into Whoppie pontification and lectures while those others may be more egalitarian in letting people speak, I really didn't care for the content discussed on other shows and they didn't have the gravitas of early The View shows.
-
SPOT ON! I feel the same. What distinguished this show from other talk shows is that it wasn't all mindless chatter about mildly interesting issues, pop culture and pseudo celebrities like reality show people. That distinction has pretty much gone away these past few years, so it is like other day time talk shows and it has lost viewers, like me, that appreciated informed, thought provoking discussion on more substantial issues. I had hopes it would have shifted to more news worthy stuff with the hiring of Rachel Maddow's former staffer - and there were glimpses of the possibility when Rosie O was back in the show - but currently it is a carbon copy of other female talk shows. Sigh . . .I now only tape The Chew from day time TV and, while I still admittedly fast forward through parts, enjoy the cohosts genuine interactions, discussions, and have gotten some great recipes which my family appreciate!

Did he really get a job as a full time teacher or was he just substitute teaching? Wonder if he will be working full time come the next school year? Getting $4,100 a month in child support will certainly help pay the bills. My guess is Sherrie was also made to pay his court and lawyer bills so he is doing all right.
-
I wonder if contract talks are going on regarding the next season? Nicolle might be asking for a substantial increase and the leaked article about letting her and Rosie go may be ABCs way of sending her a message that they aren't going to up her salary a lot. Going into election years, I think the show benefits by having her and her political background at the table.

So . . .Bristol had a kid out of wedlock, then was paid big bucks to support and speak about abstinence all over the country for conservative groups but doesn't practice what she preaches and then has another child out of wedlock . . . can you spell H Y P O C R I T E ? The sad thing is she will probably get a book deal or get paid speaking gigs based on all this.....ugh. The Palin family is a hoot!
