  1. Oh for goodness sake . . . Color me embarrassed!
  2. She can identify as black and feel passionate about black culture, racial issues, etc. - no problem with that. What she did however is for several years blatantly and easily LIE repeatedly in public about herself. This to me, outweighs much of the good she has done for race issues. The NAACP position may have been volunteer, but many of the meetings, dinners and events she went to were paid for or free to her because of her NAACP position so she absolutely received personal gain and advanced herself in the social justice community. And, sadly, she will probably get a book deal or other work deals from this recent exposure do the message is " have no integrity, lie about yourself and family, make up stories of how you np have been a victim of hate crimes, etc. and it will pay off". Odd how her situation becomes public and she glibly talks about being " transracial" right after Caitlyn Jenner and being " transgender" garners such huge publicity. She pushed the story of being " outed" by her parents making her look like a victim - they did not out her, just honestly answered questions put to them by reporters who sought them out. I wonder who got the reporters interested in her to begin with?
  3. Curious, why the Poe reference? Admittedly, I have not been watching the show much at all, so maybe that's why this is going over my head.
  4. Arizona, school colors purple and white, graduated in the 70s, all students wore purple head-to-toe and still do at graduations.
  5. Something rubs me wrong about this Donzenal woman. She sued Howard University because she felt she was being discriminated against because she was white. After college she decided she was black! When she lived in Idaho she claimed she was black and was the victim of hate mail, but the mail contained no postal markings. She outright lied to the public about who was her son and who was her father. She claims her parents " outed" her which makes her sound like a victim. Actually the parents just truthfully answered questions put to them by media that sought them out. Rachel may have done good things for social justice and race equality and feels affinity for the black race, but that doesn't negate the fact that she, to me, is not a person of integrity and has lied and been dishonest for several years. I taped the show today just to see what the panelists would say. Whoopi seemed yo give her a pass. Rosie correctly said the NAACP welcomes people of all color and the woman didn't have to lose as black to rise in the ranks there. I was kind of shocked that the ladies weren't more outraged at the woman's repeated lies, dishonesty and lack of authenticity and integrity. I hope she doesn't profit from her lying by getting a book tour and speaking engagements.
  6. CosmoCrush, I agree. I went and looked for her tweet and here it is: Sherri Shepherd ‏@SherriEShepherd May 13 Much love and prayer to @WhoopiGoldberg as you deal with the tragic loss of your brother Clyde. He and your mom understood you so well #RIP What is particularly tacky is that U.S. news media and The View had been particularly protective of Whoopi and discrete saying only she was off for a "family emergency". British tabloids had published the reason, her brother's death around May 12 but on the 13, when Sheerie posted, the U.S. news media was still being fairly sensitive about posting - but not Sherrie! (While checking her Twitter to find the post, I noticed several pictures of herself she posted. I realize she is probably an emotional wreck with her court issues, divorce, etc. but it is kind of sad to see that she has gained a lot of weight back)
  7. She has two LinkedIn profiles. She needs to delete the one where she looks like she was on a bender ( like someone up thread astutely noted!) and has typos. What a ditz! She's not professional enough to be on top of her social media postings and present a strong positive image on a business site. My guess is her mommy and daddy help fund her lifestyle big time and her earnings through her work in real estate are minimal.
  8. Read today about raven's hire as a co-host. Out of curiosity I checked sherri's Twitter which she posts to regularly to keep her name out there and Twitter numbers up. Twitter = free PR for celebs. Interestingly, Sherrie did not mention it or offer public congrats to Raven. I hope she sent private congrats to her - hopefully she learned that some things are not appropriate for Twitter and are more sincere done privately . . .i still can't get over that she tweeted condolences to Whoopi when her brother passed. So tacky!
  9. Hmmm, no guest I particularly want to see . . . . Are good guests typically hard to schedule in the summer?
  10. He always kind of rubbed me the wrong way and doesn't seem particularly revered or held in high esteem by other chefs. I also think it's odd that he rarely talks about his daughter - maybe it is her wish, but I find it odd that he gushes and flirts with women on TV and doesn't present himself as more of a stable, family man. Now with recent publicity and facts about how he has treated his third wife and honored his marriage coming to light I do not enjoy seeing him. I wish they would have chosen different hosts for this season.
  11. True, the audience gets prompted so we hear both spontaneous and prompted laughter and responses. On shows I have seen, whoopie's boob and fart jokes always get some laughter. On The Chew, when she said "don't tweet me, but I hate eggs!" She got laughter. She followed up with something along the lines of I don't like eggs, but I love chicken farmers and people who grow things. It's important to know where our food comes from. That got big applause.
  12. I'm inclined to give Whoopie a pass. She has her idiosynchrocies and comedic standards ( "don't text me, I do not care"' boob lines, fart lines, and forgein accents) as many other performers do. It doesn't bother me. Yes she' s said she only wears white shirts - I don't take her 100% literally. She does seem to wear expensive loosely fitting white shirts 80% of the time. I happened watched a taped episode of The Chew today (i,ve been taping that show regularly for over a year instead of The View) and she was on it. She was fine on it, looks to be friends with Mario, and mentioned she doesn't like eggs and wears white shirts or sometimes black ones. She seemed more comfortable as a guest than as a show moderator. She also announced she's got a line of socks coming out. I watched the show Roth Brian Wilson - painful to see him. Loved seeing Joy on the panel. Edited because I always hit " submit" button to fast and then am embarrassed by my typos and mistakes
  13. "Mohawk & Bangs" Good Lord that is FUNNY !
  14. Haven't watched the show in a while but love checking in with your comments here. Wow, if Sherri said ALL her friends warned her against marrying I am a bit skeptical and think she is saying that because it is convienient for her comedy routine and she can spin stories based on that and fill 10 minutes of any standup comedy gig she gets. I recall Barbara's comment to Sal about not hurting Sherri, but seriously think Babs was just wanting to look cute saying that, probably said it to many other males marrying female aqua intended of hers, and in no way think Bab's seemingly protective comment indicates that She and Sherrie were good, sincere friends. Even though Sherrie always spins it that way. I' m more inclined to think her friends said make sure you have a good prenup and, since he has minor experience in comedy writing, you guys can team up on projects together. I'm kind of surprised she was asked back to co-host! The fact that there was a food based segment on the show she was on is hysterical!
  15. Hmm...so reads like a movie script? Her agent is probably pitching it for a lucrative "made for TV" project....
  16. I watched today because Joy was on . . . really miss what she contributes to the show. I agree that it seems a little odd for them to do the Whoopi clips and mentions, but they know her and probably know that she would be deeply touched in a positive way by them doing it and might give her a smile during this difficult time. I also think it is cool that the show has not mentioned the exact circumstances of her absence (at least not when I watched today) and may be waiting for an ok from her to do so or just let her do it when she gets back. I'm sure friends of hers are privately and sincerely expressing their condolences to her. Meanwhile, Sherri S. used the situation for her own publicity by sending her condolences to Whoppi via Twitter! Unbelievable!
  17. As of this morning, it didn't seem like it had reported by U.S. media, but British media had said her only brother had died earlier this week. Sad. But interesting that our media, and The View are more being respectful of her privacy than the Brits.
  18. Haven't watched the show in a while, but tuned on today and (surprise) enjoyed it. I think what made the table chat entertaining and informative was having Joy and Jeff Garmin there. I don't watch the show he is on but he was quite funny and charming, adaptable and fit in well. The varied discussions about dad bodies, the prettiest women poll, high school STD outbreak, Hucklebee, etc. were good. And I thought the hair discussion that kind of shifted when Jeff said his was a fish was funny. And I'll give Whoppie a pass for her bleeped fish smell comment because it totally fit in with the discussion. And I love me some Willie Nelson music - but not so much his strong pro-grass stance and recent comment that he smoked on the White House roof - disrespectful, didn't need to be made public. Will be checking his new book out of the library. Wish he would have sung a song. No idea who the female singer was but she is stunning and her baby is a cutie! When she started her song, the first few lines sounded like a direct rip off of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive". Edited to add: just noticed Maggiemae already mentioned the song lyric similarity!
  19. Great episode. Agree with above posters comments. I am really enjoying this show . . . Which probably means the network will cancel it in the near future. . .
  20. Not that I expect any rational, adult thought from MKL, but ideally they could teach their girls that getting paying jobs, staying out of the limelight (because in their case it is being "famous" for a really bad reason), focusing on defining career goals and working hard to reach them is a prudent and reasonable road to take. Even if Villi wanted that it sounds like he would buckle to what ever MK wants. Plus his chosen line of work as a DJ probably is helped by some notoriety and having some name recognition. Does he hold any other jobs? Do they receive any welfare benefits? MKL cold find full time work at any number of jobs but she probably feels that cleaning houses, etc is beneath her.
  21. That they put their two daughters on TV is reprehensible. They are probably hoping that the televised interview results in some paying opportunities (DJ work for Dad, a book deal for the family, anything!) so that they can afford to pay for college for the girls. The family's income can't be much and they may be struggling. The interview got them an all expense multi day trip to New York, renewed media exposure, etc. If the interview garnered big ratings for 20/20 it shows the public is still fascinated by the sick actions of Mary Kay as an adult TEACHER who should have known better against a young boy. And now she is pimping her daughters out to see if lucrative offers come in. Ugh!
  22. Oh, yes, that,s what my friends and I do when we have pent up anger . . . Play dodgeball. The script and plot lines have become ludicrous. And GiGi remains a horrible, ugly person.
  23. I did not watch the interview. Am surprised that Walter's would damage her reputation by interviewing the se two again. She "retired" but craves the lime light and resorts to interviewing ridiculous people like this couple because she can' t get any legitimate celebrities to talk with. I recall the case with this mentally ill pedophile teacher back when it happened. Seems like a sorry " anniversary" to highlight with a TV interviewing! I did not watch 20/20 but just from article headlines on Radar Online, etc. which touted it, it scema that the copule is struggling financially and hope the media exposure leads to some paying opportunities for them or their poor Daughters. Maybe a Stick reality show, book del, speaking or hosting work? heck, the Family of four already got a free trip to New York for doing the interview. They consciously want to get their name and faces out there again. And Barbara and ABC were more Than happy to oblige. Shame on them.
  24. Barbara really needs to work for her mental well being, to feel relevant and fill to her time I guess. Kind of feel sorry for her. This is a job where she can be propped up in a chair, just read script off a TelePrompTer (as many retakes as needed to get it right) and show clips of her in her glory days covering scandals of the day. New York Post article from today: "Barbara Walters resisted using the word “retirement” when she left “The View” and here’s one reason why: She has a new series set to begin this October on the Investigation Discovery network. The fast-growing ID network said Tuesday that Walters will present “American Scandal,” a series that looks back on well-known crimes where she worked on the stories initially. In the new series, she’ll revisit cases involving Jean Harris, the former girls’ school headmistress convicted of the murder of her lover, and Mary Kay Letourneau, a suburban Seattle teacher convicted of raping a 12-year-old student. Walters has committed to making six episodes of “American Scandal.” She joins a list of broadcast news veterans like Paula Zahn, Tamron Hall, Chris Hansen and John Quinones who do work for ID."
  25. It wasn't the French Chef Pepin - sorry to hear about his illness and wishing him a speedy recovery. It was a Latino Chef Pepin who I'd never heard of and was a bit too animated. The recipies looked good, but they rushed through them and didn!t give lots of specifics.
