  1. I haven't posted in a long time (life gets in the way sometimes!) but periodically come to this column to read the spot on snark. Got a new password today so I could post, because I had forgotten mine. So . . Read The New York Post this morning (a guilty pleasure) and was surprised to see Lamar S has a story on Page Six - he wants sympathy and publicity for a reality show he wants to sell to supplement his school teacher (maybe he is only a substitute?) salary. What a fiasco! I tried to post a link but couldn't get it to work, sorry, so Goggle it if you are interested.
  2. One my favorites. Great plot twists! And he did look great in a uniform. One my favorites. Great plot twists! And he did look great in a uniform.
  3. Yea, Friday is a "will record" show based on guest and moderator, but Monday is a "don't bother" day.
  4. Love Kevin Costner and Tony Bennett! And Ree Drummond (aka Pioneer Woman) just launched a line of kitchen goods at Walmart so i wonder if she will show up with ready made food or do a cooking segment?
  5. Oh, good Lord, this is like that old horror movie about "the thing that wouldn't die!" According to the New York Daily News, Babs is thinking of returning to the show! Here's the first paragraph from the article: "Barbara Walters has been turning to her high-powered friends for advice on whether she should step in to a full time role and save “The View,” Confidenti@l has learned from a well-placed industry insider." Do you think Babs has truthful (rationale) good friends that will tell her to stay away and give it a rest?
  6. Ugh, she has refused to name the dad because she will "announce" when it is a calculated move to promote her and keep her name in the news. She will probably sell the story to some news organization. What does she do for work? What is her source of income?
  7. I can' recall - has Tim used his save in every season since they added the "save" option? So far this season, I am fine with him NOT using it thus far and wouldn't mind if it is not used at all.
  8. I was on the Swapnil's train from the start and thought he might be the designer who would supply the creative and fun , yet sophisticated and classy, garments we have seen in past seasons, but the past couple of episodes changed that for me. He didn't seem to be trying and was not using time wisely. maybe he was just getting a bad edit by the producers? He spent a lot of time on smoke breaks and it made me wonder if those were tobacco cigarettes or something else. His grey-contact eyes looked a bit off at times during this episode and his decisions and actions were odd. Maybe he was just emotionally tapped out and giving up - maybe the producers were aware of some things he was doing behind the scenes and were over it so chose to give him a picky client! that's just the conspiracy theorist in me!
  9. http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/(Undisclosed-Address)-Greenwich-CT-06830/2125584649_zpid/ Looks like it may be still listed for sale, just with an "undisclosed address". Because "stars " need their privacy! But from the pics it does look like they are not living there so may have already bought and moved elsewhere. If I had three kids in school I would have wanted to do that proportion to school year starting, even if we weren't changing schools.
  10. Palin was an elected official who touted constantly how she wanted to help the people of Alaska and should have stuck out the 18 months left to compete her term as Governor and then transition into lucrative speech and other opportunities. She was the first female Governor of the state and has now left a legacy that the first female governor resigned (for selfish reasons). She bailed as Governor and I would have the same feeling wheather this action was taken by a male or a female. It's not like she was the only breadwinner in the family, her husband had an income. Shame on her for resigning. Public officials should complete the service the ran for and were elected for before they go off to be a lobbyist, write books, etc.
  11. In today's Page Six section of the New York Post, Cindy Adams mentions that Barbara W and Bill G are working on her 22nd Most Fascinating People show and Bradley Cooper will be on the list.
  12. Whoopi may gueststar on Empire this season . . . Just not announced yet . . .
  13. Celia R., The above post is fabulous. Spot on! I am not on Facebook so I can't do it, but someone should certainly comment on Party City's Facebook regarding their tacky nurses uniform being more insulting than a couple comments about an unusual pagent "talent".
  14. There may be more to why companies are pulling advertising dollars from the show. Purely speculation on my part ( I am not a lawyer or a nurse !) , but maybe the small print in their ad contracts with The View would allow big companies to legally get out of contractual obligations to pay for advertising if the show does something that can be construed as bringing negative attention to it. So companies that are paying big bucks for advertising and see this new season as not living up to there expectations to draw a huge audience can use the "nurses nationwide have been villefied" argument to easily break their contract, pull out their advertising money and financially benefit from this fiasco.
  15. Pamela Anderson?! ugh! why?
  16. Honestly, what a knee jerk reaction by J&J ( and I am a stockholder) and Eggland's ( whose eggs I often buy here in AZ). How could the PR people at these big businesses watch the actual show where they pagent was discussed and see it was anything other than a dig at the fact that someone reciting a monologue is not real talent for the talent portion of the show. I will be emailing both companies. Nurses, as a whole, could be using there collective voices to comment and rally about so many other healthcare issues. P.S. I checked with two close friends who are nurses (30+ years each) and they agree with me and think the whole thing is silly.
  17. Someone send Bitsy a t-shirt that says "Reeks of Idiocy" - she would wear it well.
  18. The blonde "comic" that was defending her fat jokes is not my cup of tea. Never heard of her, disliked all the videos they showed of her doing her schtik, but there are all types of comics out there and some people must pay to go see her. I haven't posted here on the nursing controversy, but let me throw in my two cents. When I watched The View and heard Joy and Michelle's initial comments I did not take it as anti-nursing at all, and really don't think they meant it that way either. I hadn't watched the pagent so when they showed the contestant in scrubs photo and said her talent was delivering a monologue I chuckled and thought it was weird. It was an issue of "this is a talent?" not "nursing profession". After the fact, when I heard she was a nurse, what she did made a little more sense and I watched her performance on OuTube, but it still is unusual to me in terms of a formal talent or skill. I hear stories like that from my nursing friends frequently! In terms of " talent", we are used to people singing, playing instruments, dancing, twirling flaming battons, etc. so someone "reciting a monologue" doesn't strike me as much of a talent since most anyone can memorize and recite a 2 minute speech. Knowing that, there is now hope for me to enter the pagent with a talent since I am not musically inclined! The whole situation is a good example of the danger of social media, how things get blown out of proportion or twisted into misinformation and then disseminated via Twitter, videos, email, etc. Someone threw out the notion that "The View" made negative comments about the nursing profession and it caught on like wildfire.
  19. Poster child for too much plastic surgery - odd looking nose, major face lift, eye work and pumped up lips and cheeks - plus unnaturally white giant fake teeth. All topped off by fake blond hair. Lovely. Too bad surgery can't be used to implant grace or class.
  20. JudyObscure, I was surprised at your comments that Joy doesn't argue logically or discuss issues! I used to listen to that night time talk show Joy had a couple years ago (I'm spacing out on the channel...HLN?) and thought she did a good job at bringing up both sides of most issues - hope she brings that mindset to moderating this show. Years ago, a friend who is a college-level Debate teacher commented to me that she felt Meridith, Joy and Star had the strongest comment/debate skills. P.S. Were you related or personally invested in the Miss America show Joy was a judge for? I am impressed you can recall a quote from years ago!
  21. I recorded and watched. Turned off half way through the Morris C. interview but enjoyed Joy's moderating and the discussions were OK. Guess I liked the show a bit more than others on here even though Hot Topics were just Tepid.
  22. In the two and a 1/2 shows I saw last week, there were 2 mentions of Whoopi's book that comes out in October. (I'm sure we'll be hearing much more about it!) I was kind of hoping she would not return to the show this season but she would be stupid to give up an opportunity to keep her name and face on TV because that translates into money for her. Saw a bit of Friday's show and loved Joy moderating but really wish Sherrie was not there. I thought they might have her doing remote skits and prerecorded stuff, but no, there she was right at the table. Along with all her stress related weight gain from the past year . . . Wonder when she will start professing she wants "to get healthy for her son" and come out with a new weight loss book.
  23. TRUE, TRUE, TRUE. The public's fascination with him fascinates me! He is striking a nerve with many people, but in the voting booth would most Americansreally want this pompous, inelegant, bombastic egomaniac to represent America?
  24. Silly skits? Pre-recorded out of studio segments? Appearing in bits where the show tries to sell something? Am thinking whatever it will be will not require her to do any intelligent commentary or discussing current events (unless it is reality TV related!).
  25. I think bio mom will do EVERYTHING possible to maintain ties with her and would never "dump her ass". By maintaining a relationship with the daughter she has the lucrative possibility that Chelsea, and any wealth she may receive or inherit from Rosie down the road, would would provide financial support for her as she gets older. When her daughter was adopted by a wealthy person she hit the jackpot!
