Cindy Adams is a very close friend of Barbara Walters...thinking she had Barbara's tacit OK to go ahead and print that.....the fact that she would allow any negative publicity about The View's moderator is interesting. I'm thinking the show will be back next season without Whoopi, with Nicole, and 3 other cohosts of varying ages.

This was in Cindy Adams' column in today's New York Post: Sounds like a boom with a ‘view’ The view of “The View”? Dim. Ratings are beneath its copycat shows. Network smart alecks intend keeping it. Reason? It’s a famous name. A replacement costs a crateload, nothing marketable’s ready, and who knows if anything new will fare better? They’re now hunting youngyoungyoung types who’ll be lowbrow funny, not highbrow political. And backstage tensions??? Rosie O’Donnell said when her name popped up on a prompter, Whoopi slid past rather than mention it. True or not, Rosie told me that personally.

I'm down to watching only maybe a couple episodes a weeks (depending on guests). Nicole, who I used to enjoy enjoy watching, has gotten a little too shrill the past few weeks. I am surprised her "people" haven't suggested voice modulation lessons or something that would tone her down a bit...I think that would help secure a longterm place for her on some TV show somewhere after The View implodes. I still really like Rosie P. and am surprised at so many negative comments about her (yes, she has an accent...get over it!). She is smart and I love her interest in science (me too) and what she has done with her life given her background. Loved her enthusiasm about the Solar Impulse plane which made a stop here in Phoenix on a cross country flight and I went to see - very cool! Whoopie ( have no problem with her clothes, shoes...it's who she is) has lost favor with me because I think her need to have the last word in all discussions was why Rosie O. decided work wasn't fun, the stress was bad and she didn't need to stick around.

Two And A Half Men - General Discussion
CathinAZ replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Two And A Half Men
Fabulous finale show. Lots of funny lines, inside jokes, good cameos and nice to see Jake. The pianos falling were brilliant. They really didn't need the real Sheen - the guy that was supposed to be him ringing the door bell was fine. Well done, Chuck Lorrie. -
(Totally unrelated, but since you mentioned good fiction books, I just finished "The Girl On The Train" and it kept me guessing. Great read!)

Congrats on getting the funding CousinAmy! Not easy to seek and actually get money so you must feel great that your efforts paid off for the local kids. Very cool. (Rosie probably gets hundreds of requests and has helpers sort through requests for her so, without knowing how much they still had available to allocate that year and what all she did and did not make awards to, so don't be too hard on her)

Rosie introduced the baby as Dakota. She has talked about her before, it is the baby she and Michelle adopted. Her fifth kiddo. Nice to see her wearing a yellow jacket which is her happy color. I like Whoopi but being a moderator is not her strength. That was my main problem with the show this season.

Nicolle, please watch yourself on this weeks shows so you see what we the viewers so. You need to watch the pitch of your voice and not "cackle" or get shrill. And you repeated what amounted to "I couldn't hear her, was distracted by her hair, I wanted to comb it" at least FOUR times in less than 2 minutes. We get it..no need to repeat things....please.

Cindy Adams ( Barbara’ BFF) attended the heart luncheon that Ron Perlman gave which BaWA, Rosie O and other biggies attended this week, and quoted Rosie as saying she left the showroom reduce stress and maintain health and that The View, which she loved, lacks leadership and needs a Barbara Walters.

She explained it once in a video. It is special makeup/highlighter for high definition TV cameras. Her makeup person likes to feather and blend it right before the person goes on air. (Sometimes you see celebrities in photos where the highlighting has not been blended well and they seem to have whiter area around their eyes, noses or cheeks)

So sad to hear this. I think Rosie just wasn't enjoying work anymore and that, coupled with wanting to make sure family life was ok at home, made her realize it was impacting her physical and emotional health in a way that was bad...and maybe getting worse. So, so sorry she is leaving. She brought much to the table. I have always enjoyed her on TV, think she is great at I terviewing people, and hope he gets a chance to do something again in the future - maybe specials, or regular contributions to an expanded ABC daily news show.

Daily Mail = large grain of salt regarding exactly why he left - looks like he is moving to a bigger posotion. ( this Brian guy has certainly had a meteoric rise..was a warm up comic just a few years ago)

Enjoyed today's show. CMH1981, respectfully, you and I will have to agree to disagree! The documentary Rosie mentioned, The Armstrong Lie, is worth watching if you are interested. I had never heard of Charlie Sifford before and now want to learn more about him. Very cool that Rosie P. actually met him and could speak so sincerely about him. The book is indeed out of print and new and used copies are selling for close to $100 (ouch!) , so I will check local libraries (fingers crossed). Speaking of biographies, Rosie P's life story is fairly dramatic and is worth a read. I've never seen Scandal or Girls...may need to binge watch these series from season one when I have more time this coming summer.

I enjoyed today's show as well and liked having the four cohosts back. I really don't get the Rosie P. hate and personally like her passion and the perspective she brings to the table. She is so much more genuine (loved that she caught herself on her phrasing when discussing Bobby Krisina's possible feeling about the recent TV show) and thoughtful when she speaks than past cohosts (Bitsy, Sherrie). On a more superficial note, glad to see Nicolle's hairstyle is back to the flattering side part and not the unbecoming center part she tried recently...sometimes change is NOT a good thing. Nice, thought provoking discussions on immigration/Pitbull, divorce and vaccinations...as much as they can provide info to viewers in the short amount of time allotted to the topics. Whoopi is clearly against the anti-vaccine movement - TPTB must have specifically dictated the issue not be discussed when Jenny was cohost since it was NEVER discussed and they clearly would have gone head to head. Always love seeing Martin Short!

I thought the chair looked like it was the same ergonomic high backed black chair Whoopi jas had in recent days but had a purple "slipcover" on so that it better matched the purple chairs used by other cohosts. The back height was that of the black chair she had. It looked like Stacie L was sitting up in her chair and not leaning/using the back of her chair. It reminded me of a PBS special on Downton Abby Manners that I saw recently - the host said that at the dining table everyone sat up straight and proper and never leaned on the tall chair back. The back was there mostly for something the servants could grab on to when they moved the chairs and helped the diners to and from the table. That would take some discipline?!

Bad hair week Nic....just bad. Go back to it being a bit shorter and your old way of styling it. Looks like she may be trying to grow it out and move to a longer hair length, it her old style was really great and flattering . . . what is her hair stylist doing?!

(I thought whoopi Is a proponent of taking care of her teeth now. She had fessed up a few seasons ago about having really bad dental hygiene habits in the past which resulted in her needing extensive dental work and kind of feared dentists. She encouraged viewers to take care of their teeth and not ignore visits to the dentist, etc. I recall this because my husband at that time was in the process of getting braces because of some dental issues!)

Just read above comments and then started watching the show. I didn't think Whoopi was quite as bad as ya'll described. Whoopi came out dancing so her back must be better and the meds are working. Those meds do make her talk louder don't they? The earpiece did seem to throw her at the start of the show...I would be annoyed to have voices in my ear when I am trying to talk but if it is part of her job, she needs to get used to it. She did acknowledge the two Rosie's absences at the start of the show. I liked her comment about shooting a TV show during the last big blizzard and being able to sled down a deserted 5th Avenue. Tracy's comment after the disjointed, ridiculous Palin speech (she gets paid for this crap - unbelievable) that her takeaway from all of Palins babbling was "do Pilates" was funny!

Cosmocrush, BINGO! Whatever "source" is constantly leaking negative Information about The View to the tabloids is being strangely silent about Whoopi appearing on TV while high on pain meds. Honestly, why isn't ABC allowing her time off to heal and get better? The source only stirs the pot when dropping negative (madeup) crap that involves Rosie O and sometimes Rosie P.

Thanks, Ginger90, I won't ( never heard of it either!)

I also don't enjoy the social media stuff on the screen. I don't watch The Chew - do the cohosts there actively go out and chat with the audience? I am not very interested in seeing that and taking up time with audience members gushing about how happy they are to be there, meet them, etc. That to me is more of a one host thing like with Donahue or Oprah. I would rather see that time used for longer segments and longer interviews where discussions could be a little more in depth.

(I am not interested in ever seeing Sherri or Bitsy in any way, shape or form....)

Today's show had me smiling...and laughing out loud when Mario did the Streisand talking about kale .... Four cohosts works best...Rosie O. Is great. Perhaps ABC forced Whoopi to get back to work to early ( maybe contractually, if she misses x number of days because of illness her pay is affected or it is easier for TPTB to cancel the contract or terminate her) and the fact that she was clearly on strong pain meds that affected her work on both days was not totally her fault - she wanted to be in compliance with the contract. She can' t be happy with her lack of controls d onscreen presence on her first 2 days back. There have got to be some delicate discussions going on behind the scenes between ABC, whoopi'a team and her medical providers! If Perez wasn't also "on leave" Whoopi may have been allowed a more reasonable recuperation period. When she comes back as moderator I wish she would take a page from Meredith Viera and not feel that being moderator means you need to talk the most. Meredith often asked questions that encouraged discussion between all cohosts and didn't, see her role as being front and center.

Just saw today's (Wed) show and Whoopi was clearly on meds and all over the place. She should not be on the air until she is off pain meds for her back. Her performance today was not good for herself or the show. Glad she wanted to get back to work and is feeling better, and maybe ABC was pushing for her toreturn, but her off kilter and wacky actions and comments today were definitely affected by her meds and she needs to be lucid to be on that show!
