So where's this negative crap coming from and why? The NY Daily News to sell papers? Someone at The View? Someone who was at The View to stir the pot? A disgruntled ex-staffer? I don't doubt that there may be some vigorous discussion behind the scenes as the new season evolves, but why publicize probably exaggerated negative publicity? P.S. I'd love to know who picked the unflattering photos that ran with the story and why Rosie Perez with her arm in a cast which happened MONTHS ago and two current hosts with two former hosts who could have been easily been cropped out of the picture. Just odd!

Nicolle"s comments regarding parenting today and needing to be aware of current and new social media platforms and how kids may access and use the. was well spoken and presented. Elizabeth would have tried to address the same issue and her word salad "explanations", justification and points would have been a garbled mess!

Tonight there was another negative story about backstage bickering on the show. I couldn't link it but check out New York Daily News for a story titled "Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O'Donnell brawl backstage at 'The View,' leave Rosie Perez in tears". It is accompanied by unflattering pictures of the ladies, a couple with old cohosts. Strange. Some person(s) at the paper is enjoying putting out negative stories and some person(s) at the show is leaking negative stuff if it is true. There are more newsworthy topics for e media to spend their time on! Every workplace has some conflict and I hope whatever is happening is being greatly exaggerated by whatever 'source' is providing the 'news'. Ferguson and Cosby are both controversial, touchy subjects and should not be treated lightly.

Thanks, Cosmocrush, for the heads up. I agree with you about CBS, It's all about $$$. When I contacted DISH about a month ago they put all the blame on Turner saying that company wanted more money and DISH didn't want to increase costs to customers so they were trying to continue negotiating even after contract expired and channels were inaccessible. And when I say I contacted DISH, I mean some poor kid, probably located in India, who was reading off a clearly planned script putting all blame on losing the channels on Turner. I kept asking him why I should continue paying my full monthly bill when I was getting less channels and ultimately got a reduction in my monthly bill for 6 months. I wonder if they will honor the 6 months now that channels are restored?
-
Well, this is bizarre but at midday today DISH restored the channels, so contract must have been agreed upon between them and Turner. Venting on this board this morning created some good karma, I guess. Wierd timing, but glad to have CNN on my TV again!
-
My satellite service is DISH and we subscribe to a midrange package (don't pay for HBO, fancy movie channels, etc.). One channel we do get is CNN. For the past month or so Turner, the company that supplies DISH with that channel and about 4 others has been negotiating with them to continue offering the channels...but in the meantime the contract has expired so we are not getting those channels. I miss my CNN ( Anderson cooper, lisa ling show, etc). and am hoping they will agree to a new contract without increasing costs to customers. If any of you has DISH, call an complain about missing the Turner channels and they should at least credit you a token amount on your monthly bill ($10) for a few months for "the inconvienience of losing those channels".

Ok, just watched and the Cosby discussion it wasn't as bad as what I expected from reading here. Yes, there was some tension and discomfort - to be expected when discussing a tough issue about someone some of the panelists know very well. Rape accusations made long after the fact make investigation and prosecution more difficult. I do think where there's smoke there's fire but we may also see a bit of bandwagon jumping by some women. Janice Dikenson (sp?) the former model has been doing and saying anything the past few years to stay in the news and get publicity so I'm suspicious of her claims. The Mike Nichols' segment was very touching and brought tears to my eyes. I think today's show was emotional and heartfelt for all hosts...I think I may be hormonal because all the snark isn't sitting well with me today. I'm gonna go eat some chocolate . . . . .
-
Well, I've taped today's show but I'm reading here before watch it ( as I often do) and you guys have really peaked my interest. Sounds like a doozy. I think the truth about Cosby is probably somewhere in the middle, Love his humor, grew up listening to his comedy albums. But there is no excusing rape! Yes, he probably forced himself on a woman (or more) but some of the ladies that are now coming forward (Janice D.) probably are not being 100% truthful and are going public now for publicity, money ( paid for interviews, book deals, etc.), Or some other wierd reason. As a society we need to educate people on the value of coming forward, going to the police and standing up for themselves even when it is uncomfortable. Then you don,t have to deal with situations of he said- she said months or years after the fact when things and intent can become murky.

Sorry, I even edit badly and auto correct on my iPad inserts words and characters that I didn't mean.....ugh. That line should have read "Babs was mad about her (Joy) mentioning that Rosie was hired"

To be fair, Whoopi wasn't the only host resting her head in her hands during the girls singing Frozen bit. And, while nicole and perez looked straight ahead at the trio's backs, wasn't Whoopi just looking to the side at the monitor screen do she could see what the rest of us saw, the trio's faces? If the stage is set up like other shows, there is a monitor off camera near cameras on both sides of the table

I know this is a board where we comment on the good and snark on the bad, but overall I'm pretty much enjoying the shows when I watch them and enjoy reading on here but it does seem that without Bitsy and sherrie, the guns are pointed double-barrel at Whoopi. Yes, Whoopi said she didn't know the lady was coming but I took it to mean that perhaps she just found out earlier that morning not literally that she just saw her when she walked out. The lady did not call Whoopi days ahead of time to let her know but I'd bet she did let her know that day which is when she got front row placement. The lady wished her a belated happy birthday which was sweet. Yes, she has fun shoes, crazy socks, wild hair and is talking passionately about stuff this season (cause Babs isn't there to stifle) and she is what she is. Rosie P. I find myself nodding in agreement with a lot. I do not mind her voice. I'm first generation American, my parents were immigrants from Europe who learned English fluently but still retained an accent, so I try to be very open to and tolerant of people with accents and different ways of talking (although a really strong twangy Southern accent is most challenging for me to listen to!). I also agree a lot with Rosie O, love her humor and hope her more thoughtful reactions and responses are a result of being in a better place in her life, controlled meds, and maturing with age. She seems more stable and that is a good thing. I loved her show on Oprah when she did the in depth one-on-one interviews - she was great in that format. She was cute with those little girls today.....but I love Frozen too. Nicole I didn't know at all but I think she fits in well and can hold her own but maybe holding her republican policy side back a bit to. It rock the boat. She is such a change from Bitsy how can you not like her! Maybe I'm just getting "soft" in my ability to snark........

FWIW, I saw joy in some TV interview after she left the view (maybe with Jay Leno or Meredith) and she did tell the story about being temporarily fired because Babs was mad about ER mentioning the rosie hire prematurely. Edited because I always hit "send" to quickly and typing on my iPad is tricky

The prolonged, awkward listerine commercial by the Cameron guy was just awful. I can understand that Friday shows are often a wierd mix of pretaped segments but today was, for me, one of the least likable shows of the season. And I hope the LONG listerine commercial segment isn't a sign of things to come. If I wanted to see commercials, I wouldn't routinely fast forward through them on my DVR.

Wonder if she'll be more sympathetic towards the issue of accessible health care for all Americans now? Or if she will still slam "Obamacare" every chance she gets. Politicians have been talking, but doing very little, about the issue since the 1960s but th Afdordable Health Care legislation passed in 2010 was the first concrete thing to come to pass. It may need some tweaking but not come abolishment like many Republican politicians are now calling for....great....back to square one.

Wasn't the speculation I out Joy anf sherri coming back in an English publication that is sometimes right but often just spins stories and is known to accept info from "sources" that are often the celebrities or their agents? I think the story is not true and was printed to get some chatter going. And I wouldn't be surprised if sherri/her people planted it to keep her relevant and her name in the news. I hope jeffrey is getting some stability and consistency in where he is living (apartment in city or at the house she,s trying to sell?) and in his schooling and therapies. Who's helping her with him while she,s in the play and traveling for her upcoming movie roles?
-
Guess I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed today's show. Liked the host chat, enjoyed the music, even Whoopie's confetti shoes (artsy novelty shoes are fun to look at even if I'd never wear them!), Happy Birthdaay, Whoopi!

Yea....I guess I'm dreaming a bit....but I do think discretion and good judgement are valuable virtues and sorely lacking in today's Twitter/Facebook/anonymous commenter society. Sigh........

Bitsy has a husband who could easily bring his daughter to a Broadway show. With her home recuperating, it would be a great father-daughter .date". Heck, he could even bring all the kids. If I was home recuperating from surgery, i,d be happy to know my family members were out doing something fun and showing support for a friend. Part of me actually wishes that Bitsy and Jenny actually have already brought their kids and went to see the show and it was done privately, without fanfare, and maybe even asked for discretion and that sherrie doesn't necessarily use every and any opportunity to get publicity for herself and tweet her business to the world.
-
FWIW, I don't care for any mention of former hosts like "Bitsy she ain't" for Nicole or, like you are currently doing, mentioning her in Rosie's thread heading. I'd really rather not be reminded of her!

YES! YES! YES!

Saw Joy on the show. Nice seeing her, but she recycled some of her lines and schtick....would have been nice to have heard some new stuff from her. Barbara Walters' old friend Cindy Adams (Page Six columnist for the New York Post) mention Joy's show that is opening soon and ended with a sentance saying she and Barabara would be at Joy's opening night. I'll bet Barbara is VERY curious to hear what Joy says about The View and Babs! I'd love to know what percentage of Joy's show will contain lines and old stuff we've already heard from her in the past, what percentage is updated NEW comedy stuff, and what percentage is dishing about behind the scenes stuff from her years on The View. Anyone on these boards live near NYC and planning to see the show?

Catching up on recorded shows and just watched Monday's show and it was fun and entertaining. Martin Short was charming, but he's told that Johnny Carson poker party story before. The penis discussion was hysterical and I've had similar talks with my girlfriends. rosie P"s aside ( "William Dafoe, you are blessed") was fabulous. Interesting election and Obama related discussions at the top of the show.

I'll applaud anybody and any policy that reduces the number of reality show "stars" on my TV. If rosie is vetoing or reducing this, hurrah! Last season The View was spending A LOT of time talking about reality shows and people and also having them on as guests...way too much. Full disclaimer, I do watch Million Dollar Listing, the real estate related show, because I love to see the houses...but I'm fine not seeing those realtors on any talk or other shows!

I don't wish any serious illness on Elizabeth or anyone. I admit when first read on here about her absence my first thought was she's probably having some invasive surgery (abdominal related to her intestinal issues or "woman" issues) which she would completely recover from and that she was stretching a one week recoup period an extra week or so to have some home time with her kids over Halloween. Also that she might take advantage of the down time and even show up with a "refreshed" face.... As the daughter of a Mom who had breast cancer, I hope that's not what she is dealing with.

Backformore, thanks for the tutorial!
