Barbara, Joy, Rosie and Whoopi all attended Joan Rivers' funeral today.

I read the eulogy and thought it was nice and complimentary of Joan Rivers. The one odd comment is that Babs stated she had "a disappointing marriage" with Edgar. I know he committed suicide and had bouts of depression after some heart problems, but was the marriage in bad shape, I s that public knowledge and is it even true? I haven't read Joan's books, so maybe it is something she has, in fact, made public. If I was her daughter, Melissa, I would not be very happy about Babs mentioning that at this time. Kathy Griffin's article ( I think it was in the LA Times) was really well written and heart-felt.

Two Rosies! hah! Love the idea of Rosie Perez and Nicolle Williams. Wonder if they'll wait a few months to see now things mesh a d what chemistry the four have before deciding to add a fifth cohost. Maybe no fifth cohost, just bringing in a guest cohost for a full week or two would be an interesting change. P.S. Is Wallace a lawyer? I really liked having someone who could give a sound legal opinion on some of the things they discuss.

Was watching a new The Chew episode that I had recorded (will be making one of the recipies!) and saw a commercial for The View's new season. I noticed that the logo (circle with superimposed black letters for show's name) shown on the commercial did not have agreyish blue circle that was mentioned/referenced in this forum a while back. It was a brighter orange circle. I'm looking forward to checking out the new season when it starts on Sept 15!

The pics I saw were not full front, but side shots, and I mentioned she looked sway backed - pooch tummy and hunched back. Now that someone said they filmed the ceremony for a tv show I realize that the "hunch" on the back was probably a microphone pack. those side shots were not her friend!

(Geez, I don't recognize any of those 6 people you mention in your post, Milk-eyed Mender, so feel kind of "out of it"!)

I don't follow other celebrities' social media sites or am personally on Facebook or twitter, and only knew about Sherrie's by being on this board. So I've read some of the tweets posted here and even gone to her Twitter site via my iPad to read them. So I am wondering if many other celebrities keep up an active posting of things to social media? Do they have PR people and managers telling them that it is a good idea or even posting stuff on their behalf? It's almost like free PR, gets them in the news if they post stuff that attracts attention, might make their fans happy and more loyal (because reading a celebrities twitter and tweeting them means you are connecting with them and are almost their BFF!), let's them advertise upcoming gigs to generate sales (has Sherrie mentioned she'll be in a Broadway play? Hah!) I know Sherries stuff seems excessive, very self absorbed, and ill advised since much of her stuff gives them impression Jefrey is left behind a lot with a nanny, but if this is what other celebrities are doing then she is just following along with what her managers and PR people are telling her and she is paying them for advice, guidance and career moves. I just find it difficult to believe that a hard working woman like sherri, who is admittedly not the brightest bulb in the room and makes horrendous relationship choices, is operating all on her own and posting all this stuff that comes across as so negative* . . . Her PR people must be encouraging it....because all celebs use social media to connect with their fans? She confuses me. * examples: saying you are bored and cold at your kids tract meet is stupid, the photo you showed saying your makeup is still intact is prof that you are WRONG, it looks bad, not spending more quality time with your son is wrong, you can pay the bills by budgeting and making smarter choices, posting about those $800 Loubiton shoes is dumb, et.

That upside down triangle shape is a give away!

Did any of you guys see this is RadarOnline today? "Former View star, Debbie Matenopoulos, wants Ivanka Trump and Arianna Huffington to be named as new co-hosts of the ABC chat fest, and also wants to come back to the job she once had, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting. Matenopoulos told Radar exclusively in a statement that, “I’m older, stronger, wiser and smarter and would love to come back to The View. Ivanka Trump and Arianna Huffington would be great co-hosts for The View. Both ladies would bring their intelligence to the show. It would be a perfect balance with Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnell.” My word, that would be an interesting table to listen to...and it's intriguing. I didn't watch The View until the 3 rd season so never saw Debbie on the panel, but she's seemed OK when I saw her a couple times in the last year or so when she visited. Seems like she could hold her own. Huffington is a spitfire and smart and well informed (her command of the facts on an issue just might drive Whoopi mad....). I enjoy her articles on The Huffington Post and she's made a 180 degree flip from being Republican to Democrat. Ivanka I don't know much about and don't think there's a chance in hell she'd do it, but when I've heard her speak she's been well spoken and bright.

Thanks, LuckyBitch, I haven't figured out the "how to show links" thing . . .

New York Daily reported that The View staffers are returning to work today and are now located in a new studio/building. With behind the scenes staffers now back at work, chances are better that there will be leaks about who the new cohosts will be. Or maybe ABC will make a formal announcement right after Labor Day?

Never heard about the show mentioned above, so googled it and found: "SundanceTV presents its new original series THE APPROVAL MATRIX, hosted by comedian Neal Brennan — co-creator of Chappelle’s Show and recurring director for Inside Amy Schumer. Inspired by New York Magazine’s pop culture roundup, THE APPROVAL MATRIX is a funny, provocative talk show about our current cultural obsession. For six weekly episodes, Brennan and a panel of insiders/celebrities/critics will hilariously debate today’s most controversial entertainment/news items. Executive produced by Rory Albanese (The Daily Show) and Ish Entertainment’s Michael Hirschorn (Best Week Ever)." Has Salley ever even been on a TV show before (other than when he was on The View with Sherrie?). Is he even considered to be a real insider/celebrity? Ha!

Looking forward to seeing what the article above described as the new "visually stunning" set. Change is good! I do think the new logo is a bit blah. Hate the distracting twitter scrolls across the bottom of a tv program I am watching. The sole exception is election results during news shows! I watch TV to SEE things not to have to READ stuff...when I want to read I use a newspaper, magazine, book, iPad, etc. Plus we all know the tweets they choose to scroll are hand selected for their content so don't represent a true cross section of peoples' comments. Hope the photo screen walls are gone. Was that a ploy to attract viewers so that people would tune I. To see if their photo was shown? The time spent by cohosts talking about or referring to the photo wall, twitter feeds, "selfie with a star" bit and other social media stuff really just wasted several minutes each show and took time away from discussions - cohosts probably liked it because it was 'fluff' time and they didn't need to spend that time working and trying to intelligently discussing stuff.

Matt Lauder (Today show) is looking for guest cohosts to do one-day cameo appearances now that Savannah Guthrie is out on maternity leave. Meredith Viera is scheduled to appear. Katie Couric said no to appearing because she wanted to do longer than just a day and the network said no. Would Barbara be willing to fill in for a day if asked? Even though it's not an ABC show....

I wasn't a survivor watcher, nor did I regularly watch Rosie's old show (I was working crazy hours back then so not much TV time!) so this is the first I heard of Rosie's gifts to survivor participants, including (color me surprised) hasselbeck! Wow! Perhaps rosie and elizabeth might have decided among themselves not to mention it on the view or media when they were working together for whatever reason, but it is an interesting fact! I'm not on social media but would love to see lots of inquiries (so Liz would be bombarded with these and couldn't ignore it - tho I'll bet she would) on Lizzie's twitter, Facebook, etc. asking if it is true that rosie offered the trip and if she and Tim accepted. Inquiring minds want to know! If I ever run into Lizzie in person I would never have wanted to even talk to her but now I would definitely ask her about it!

Was it ever mentioned how long sherri will have the Broadway role? I'm not sure if she is in it for the long haul or if her part is the one they will cycle "big names" through. When they cast a "non- theater" famous person to bring publicity to a show ( like wendy Williams in Chicago for a month and others I can't think of right now) isn't it for just a couple months or so and then they get another "famous" person? When sherri is done, nene, neicy and a whole host of others could cycle through for a short stint. Assuming the show is a hit and has staying power.

So, so sad. Right after I heard of Robin Williams' death I thought of Whoopi because they were such close friends. It's a good thing they are on hiatus, because don't think she'd have been able to do a live show today. Mental illness is such a slippery and tragic thing....RIP

All Episodes Talk: Admit it. You Can't Stand The View.
CathinAZ replied to stormygone's topic in The View
I have zero interest in taping tomorrow's "Sherrie" show. The show will be back on my "must record" list (after 2+ years off) come September in hopes the fluffy, light content focus has been scrapped and a strong group of cohosts has been assembled. Fingers crossed! Ya'll enjoy the rest of your summer and I'll see you in September! -
I would think that two heavyweights like Rosie and Whoopi would want others on the panel to have some credentials to merit their selection and maybe even not be total unknowns. I would love to see the panel have cohosts with expertise in law and in journalism. That balance seemed to work best in the past and gave discussions some interest. Cohosts shrilly spouting talking points and unsubstantiated "facts" don't make for good discussions and is a waste of the viewers time.

Sherrie and jenny are now on to greener pastures. So, can the discussion regarding sherri and the whole surrogacy/divorce fiasco be continued on this site and, if so, would it be in the "former cohosts" section or here on the Sherrie one? (I'm morbidly curious about how things will be resolved legally)

She is probably for another part in a movie or some Christian concert emceeing gig...

I must say, I am impressed that neither Sal's mother nor any of his friends have been persuaded with $$$ by the tabloids to tell their side of the story or perhaps speak out on behalf of Sal and against Sherrie. He may have told everyone to not do soon advise of his lawyer, but it still takes will power to not make even a little comment.....
-
Yes, Sal probably wanted to wait until after the birth or maybe even wanted to remain married, and continue living his comfortable life style with Sherrie (while pursuing his side activities). The longer he stayed connected to Sherrie the more time he had to make professional connections, which could have led to jobs for him ( tho I'm still not convinced he is as good as he thinks he is). It would have been more palatable to his Mom, society and kept him in a nice situation. But something happened on that Spring trip to California and sherrie found something out which changed everything. P.s. Googling "divorce during surrogacy" brings up some interesting articles and material to read if you've got a little time to kill.
-
I too believe Sal saw a baby and financial support (whether they were married or divorced) when he looked at Sherrie. I hope he has family and support to help raise the kid he wanted so badly. It is amazing to me that with all the connections and access his marriage to Sherrie gave him to the entertainment industry that he didn't land anything substantial in the way of comedy writing gigs. His talents in that area must not really be up to snuff, because if he was good, he would have made connections that would have him now actively working in the industry. Yes, he probably freelances and writes jokes for standup comedian friends and may get other small bits of work, but probably nothing that pays enough to maintain a modest household in California otherwise we'd see his name in credits, etc. it is reprehensible that he wants to raise a child but leech of an ex-spouse for rent money, food, child expenses, etc. What efforts is he making to find a job? It also bothers me when women do it (get pregnant without any intent to marry the guy) and then get Child Support Enforcement agencies to garnish baby daddy's checks - but both bio parents are responsible for the child and I get that. My speculation, but Sherrie probably found out he was actively cheating on her and also came to the realization, as the months of the marriage wore on, that he never was going to be actively and SINCERELY involved in managing her career, helping parent Jeffery, helping with the household, caring about her emotional and physical needs and was enjoying spending her money a little too much. Her Christian beliefs would have kept her working on the marriage and committed to it but something big happened for her to seek divorce again and to not feel responsibility (other than already paying all surrogacy fees and bills) towords the baby.

Me too, Lava. I love that she is unconventional, has a unique style all her own and doesn't care what people think about her clothes, shoes and over all look.
