  1. Neither feminism nor fuck were anachronistic words in the 1960s. I recall reading that Julia would casually curse among friends. _____________________ So far, I find these episodes to have little plot. In the first season, every episode lead to the creation of The French Chef despite all the obstacles. These first three episodes have are largely about dazzling viewers with beautiful shots of France and celebrities while belaboring the point that Julia needs to pull her thumb out and accept that the France she knew is no longer and get back to publishing books and making her show. Having said that, I'll watch Alice's mother do anything. Those faces she makes are hilarious.
  2. For me, this season wasn't up to the standards of the first two. I think it's because we spent most of the time in the theatre. New York and the Arconia are essentially leading cast members of the show and this season, they were missing. On the bright side: 1- The Streep was Streeping. Whenever she had to reach the audience, like with her song, she nailed it. Also casting Streep as an actress who never broke through is a nice touch. 2- As with past seasons, we really felt what the murdered person was going through before they were offed. They are never left as just an excuse for a whodunit. They're fleshed out. 3 - Finally, I like the additions to the opening animation number, like Howard walking his cat instead of Bunny walking a pigeon, and the one episode when the sandbag nearly missed the trio. I hope they do something like that next season.
  3. Episode 3 - Girl Group Challenge Everybody got the challenge wrong. The phrase “Don’t yuck (ick) my yum” isn’t about stating what you don’t like, it’s about saying what you do like even if others might find it disgusting, like say, putting someone’s sweaty stockinged foot in your mouth while miming playing the sax. Having said that, the first group is continuing the streak of UK girl group powerhouse performances.
  4. why? she's good looking lady. I have to admit, I thought Carolyn was a bit average looking for Raylan. Considering Natalie Zea and Joelle Carter were cast as previous love interests, I would have thought an actress like Taraji P. Henson, Aisha Tyler or Regina Hall would have made more sense. __________________________ I'm fine with it ending like this, but there is no point in bringing Boyd up again if they're not sending Raylan after him.
  5. I never got around to (what was) the final season of Justified, because I dreaded what would happen. Then I saw a brief clip in an Emmys montage that year of two people, shot from above in light and dark hats (who I thought were Raylan and Boyd) shooting at each other and falling down and I thought “Oh, no!” and I put off watching it altogether. But now that this new season is out, I had to go back. And wouldn’t you know, they break my heart in the very first episode by killing Dewey. And, much like him, I did not see that coming. Now, having finished season 6, I was happy with the season. Although I really wanted Loretta to kill Boon. I hated his comic book villain style and he menaced her (and us) far too many times. We never did find out what happened with Boon and the people at the diner. Come to think of it, did Loretta ever find out what happened to her great aunt? They tried to push a "will they or won't they" / "are they or aren't they" thing with Raylan and Ava that never worked. Raylan never seemed interested in rekindling anything there and so that constant "He's probably screwing his CI", "are you back with Raylan?" talk seemed forced. Also, they could have left all the Wynona stuff for the very end. I like Natalie Zea, but she was useless this season. I was glad to see Ava drive off and elude everyone. I didn't think they needed to give her a 1930s dust bowl looking kid, though. It would have been better if Raylan let her get away for old times' sake, rather than the child's. Nice to see Wynn get away. If it couldn't be Dewey, I'm glad it was him. I was also pleasantly surprised to see Patton Oswalt survive. The body count this season was off the charts. No wonder Harlan is dying. There are only about twelve people left. Good thing Loretta is still around, if her pot business can't save the town, nothing can.
  6. Ben had beef with the Pope?! Another suspect!
  7. I would have switched Rami and Prajje. I thought Rami's dress was something one could find in a department store or boutique. Just pleasant, nothing to think twice about. Prajje's dress was an update of an 80s style which I thought was kind of interesting, but we aren't living in an 80s revival moment. I thought Bishme's win was deserved. Though I doubt many baseball caps with veils would sell, it makes for a good runway look.
  8. Steph and Cherry often had problems with their bakes to the point where I thought they might actually get to the finals on their superior detective skills alone. Funny that they would go out missing a clue that everyone else got. They really should have a winning team each episode. And they should get some cash.
  9. As I recall, a Bermuda short won, a cut which only works on people without thigh meat.
  10. I think they did Anna dirty twice in this episode. First, by showing her flirting with the Below Deck guy when they didn't have to (it wasn't integral to the episode) and second by sending her home when she didn't have the worst outfit. I adore Prajje and think he's a much stronger designer than Anna, but his outfit was truly hideous. Project Runway is one of the few Bravo shows I watch, because people have a talent and that's the main focus. I'd prefer it if they didn't try to mix it with their drama for drama's sake shows like Housewives, Below Deck, etc. Good point. This isn't the first time they've called Anna out for the wrong choice of fabric for the occasion.
  11. Naysha Lopez said that they filmed a Fame Game Winner walk for all the eligible queens, and that by the third queen, they lost their fake enthusiasm for the "winner". _________________________- Of the looks on the runway, I was most impressed by Jaymes, Naysha, and Alexis, but most of the looks were gorgeous. What kept me from loving Kahanna's gown was that it was so busy and disjointed. There were daisies and bones and colorful mirrors, and then sheer nude on the back of the gown (which makes sense for sitting purposes I guess). My eye had nowhere to rest. The busyness of Jimbo's gown seemed to flow better for me. Her gown wasn't supposed to be "pretty" like Kahanna's was.
  12. I stopped watching once Jordan survived past Igor. They should have sent him home an episode earlier. Amanda's (is that her name?) undercooked lobster was a mistake, but his tea tray wasn't bad due to an error. He didn't have the skill set to make one.
  13. It's a shame Rufus Sewell wasn't nominated for an Emmy. He gave a great performance in a difficult role. Playing someone who is constantly manipulative but with good intentions while remaining charming is difficult.
  14. I don't know what's going on, but Nina isn't very happy this season.
  15. I remember the ads for The Polaroid I Zone in the 90s. You could print it out and stick it to stuff. Here is a commercial featuring a young Aaron Paul. The models should have had a beeper and Tamagotchi. ______________________________ Prajje and Laurence really nailed this. And how cool was Laurence this entire episode? Especially, when she was sitting with her hoodie up and sunglasses on at the table. I don't think they should have bothered with a bottom three. They should have just said, "Kayne. We all know what's happening here, right? Your time with us is up." I'm no John Drops, but I feel fairly confident that I go into any closet and put on a bunch of fabrics and approximate Kayne's look.
  16. For me, this episode was just more reasons to love LaLa Ri with some Jimbo on the side.
  17. Swansong Part 2 "I'm singing at Jacksonville in two weeks. You'd love it there". Run, Ridley, run.
  18. Bishme's look stood out. It wasn't minimalist. And it didn't rely on draping. So why not put him in the top? Kudos to Kara Saun for gathering everyone on the importance of not bringing negativity to the workroom. I however, am at home, so negative I shall be: Anna's dress is clear bottom level bullshit. The judges took a puzzling route, but at least they got to the right choices for winner and loser of the episode.
  19. It seems like Kyrgios could learn a lot from Tiafoe about how to lose gracefully.

I took the photo from ESPN+ coverage. At the end of the match they show you all the sets, though. It's a bit early for that. Usually, it's the second week when the grass has worn away. I guess the rain was the culprit.

This is the fourth set of a match. The green column shows that Rublev won 2 sets and Karatsev has won 1. The blue column shows that in this current set, Karatsev is ahead 3 to 2. The white column shows that Rublev is ahead in this current game, 15/ love. There is nothing here telling us how those first three sets went. Did anyone win a set 6 to 0? Was there a thrilling tie break in the 3rd set where Rublev could have had match point? We don't know.

I haven't paid much attention to tennis for some time now, and am just getting back into it. How long have they been doing this scoring thing I'm seeing in Wimbledon, where you only see the score for the current set? I can't get used to it.
  23. It’s a callback. They did this at the end of the first episode.
