  1. My alcoholic ex-husband claimed to NOT be an alcoholic because, "I've never missed a day of work." Alcoholic dementia contributed to his death. I suggest The View have an expert on alcoholism as a guest...and NOT on View Your Deal Day! My father passed away, in part, from the same disease. It would be interesting to see the View cover this just as a topical issue and to see how Meg reacts.
  2. After a "meh" episode last week, this show is back to its usual excellent groove. Although it had been well-established that Ellie and Tahani were pretty much screwed-up by their families, it was enlightening, as a viewer, to see more of the backstory and actual mechanics. Lots of interesting subtext in the writing this week. Eleanor, on her quest to become a better person, simply refuses to believe her mother could do the same. Her mom, perpetrating a grand scam, accidentally becomes a better person because of it, and needs Eleanor to point that out. Agreed. And the subtext there, I think, is that even with "divine" intervention, not everyone's destined for the Good Place. Tahani went out of her way to make amends with Kamilah, but I didn't see any real reciprocity from Kamilah. Is it just me, or did Chidi seemed to be joyfully relieved when he said that? Almost like he doesn't believe he can exist without his ever-present angst. Damn, even in an episode where Ted Danson doesn't have much to do he hits it out of the park. i did find it interesting that Michael seemed to instinctively know that Eleanor's mom had become a good person even before they actually met her.
  3. I had the same thought. The way this group over-shares (virtually nothing is left unsaid), secret-keeping in this pack is pretty much impossible. Don't think you're reading into it, I see it too. At the least he has a very strong affection for Delilah. And remember, when the affair was revealed Gary did say to her, "I'm actually hurt that you chose Eddie over me." Given the way this show is written, a confession scene is definitely possible.
  4. Question for the ladies on this Board. I missed the first half of today's show. Not to be indelicate...but...was that, ah, 100%, Mrs. O in that Dolly Parton get up? If so, Yowza!
  5. I'm glad this thread is still open! Just had to post this: http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/ny-ent-william-daniels-foils-attempted-burglary-20181030-story.html Yelled in my best Eric Matthews voice: "FEENY....FEENY...FEEEENEEENY."
  6. Probably the only way Megan can make peace with being who she is, honestly. Most alcoholics are profoundly unhappy people. But she isn't an alcoholic, just gets drunk at the drop of a hat, lol.
  7. We know from the past (when one of the co-hosts accidentally referred to Elisabeth as "Bitsy") that either someone in the production crew or a panelist reads these forums regularly. I wonder if instead of writing the suits at ABC there was a way to get one of the more level-headed panelists (Joy or Sunny) to read this thread. If they knew how those of us not in the 37% really feel about this show, it might finally lead to a change.
  8. I have watched the View almost from the beginning. It's been painful to see what it's devolved to now. Megan's seat, previously occupied by Bitsy, exemplifies everything that's wrong with "her side of the aisle." Between Megan and Bitsy, you could probably compile a two hour clip of the two of them glowering with hateful expressions and simmering, barely contained rage. it does not make for pleasant daytime viewing. They can both dish it out, but can't take it...one second after Joy yelled at Megan, it seemed she was going to pull a Bitsy and go on a crying jag. I'm sorry, but I'm still at a loss to explain why that seat is necessary. As a Black man that worries every time one of my teenage cousins steps out on the street, her stressful, malicious, ignorant, uninformed, infantile nonsense just adds fuel to the fire. That's the main reason that the View has for me gone over the years from "must see" television to, "eh, Logo's showing Three's Company repeats again, nothing else is on, guess I'll just watch this."
  9. Given the model-thin standards set by this show, and Hollywood in general, Amy isn't the general standard. That's what Bernie was hinting at, is all I'm saying.
  10. I am so Team Rajanu! She's a cutie, great personality, obviously likes him, and fits in seamlessly with the core group - none of Raj's past GFs ever did. Does it make me a horrible person that the "Slapsgiving" episode of HIMYM is one of my all-time favorite shows? ;) Interesting how Amy went from isolated loner to now showing "mean girls" tendencies fairly regularly now. As another poster said, maybe acceptance has gone to her head.
  11. Yeah, this was the first Good Place episode that I've ever felt "meh" about. I'm chalking it up to the law of averages catching up with it and guessing that the show will be back to awesome-ness next week.
  12. Yeah, that bugged. And it was compounded by Bernie's "Oh, so you wanna talk about bodies? You really wanna go there" to Amy came dangerously close to fat-shaming, IMO.
  13. Guess suspension of disbelief is the only logical option there. Because in real life, SG and Kara are both so attractive that a lot men and women would pay a lot of attention to their faces. My guess is that 90% of those folks would pick up the scar and make the connection. Since the make-up people seemed to put more effort in covering up the scar (HD is so unforgiving) looks like one of the show runners has been giving the topic some thought too. Totally agree. And it would have taken just four or five lines of exposition from President WW to establish her position. Just plain lazy writing and direction detracting from what should be a pretty compelling story line.
  14. Wow, great comparison. Those scenes did have a kind of "March of the Penguins" feeling to it, lol. All you needed was some wacky music.
  15. Forgot about that one, lol. Between the two of them Lena Luthor and Eve Tessmacher must have a combined IQ of about a zillion. IRL, they should have both figured out Kara's ID based on that one incident alone. If not for the fact that it's known that Kara and Clark are cousins, she could just as easily forego the secret ID thing altogether IMO. It takes a lot for her to maintain, and for the most part she hasn't done such a good job of it.
  16. Having said that, I do notice that the makeup folks have done a better job of camouflaging MB's forehead scar this season. It always bugged me that no one in that Universe has noticed that both Kara Danvers and Supergirl share that distinct characteristic.
  17. If Lena hasn't figured out that Kara Danvers=Supergirl after this episode, I have to wonder how intelligent she truly is. At this point, I'm assuming that she' figured it out, just like Kat Grant, and is simply not saying anything for reasons of her own. Yeah, I thought that too. And he could have read Agent Liberty's mind - and the rogue cop's too - to find out more about the anti-alien movement. All-in-all, I liked this episode. Mia and Brainy could be an interesting couple, unlike most other pairings on this show.
  18. Some of us could almost hope for that, but ABC will never be the only Big Three Network without a Soap. TIIC are probably lamenting cancelling AMC and OLTL. I know plenty of folks that are still lamenting the loss of those shows and wonder why GH wasn't the one that was canned. I know, right? It was hilarious - I think LWB realized it and just played through the scene. Probably a little of both. Shallow note here, but I always felt Kirsten has a very pleasant, soothing face. Seems like baby shares that opinion.
  19. Said in my best Wakandan accent: "Evacuate the city...raise all defenses...and give that man a shield." Serious question here - who's the 1 of 6? I was wondering that too. My guess is TETRANEUTRON meant Ted Danson...which may be true at his age. But he makes up for it by being...Ted Danson.
  20. Also, given that Barr is clearly mentally ill, The Conners really should in the future tackle that topic as well, maybe that will serve as a Dog Whistle for Roseanne.
  21. Sorry, no actor that publicly denigrates an accomplished African American by calling them an Ape gets to keep their job. I only watch two or three shows on ABC, but if they go crazy and bring Rosie back, I'm done for good. Seriously.
  22. Totally agree. The man is a national treasure. Never saw him give a bad performance anywhere.
  23. Oddly enough, I don't find either actor particularly attractive, but together their love scenes bring the sexy. Who would'a thunk it? ITA - doesn't matter how smart or precocious Spencer is, as the old folks say he should have the taste smacked out of his mouth for talking to any adult like that, even Ava. I chuckle at how hard Ryan works at downplaying his repulsion to Laura. Poor Genie Francis.
  24. Beth Behrs, though talented, is one of those actors who plays themselves no matter what you see her in. But as another poster pointed out, she is mad sexy. I also don't think this is the best vehicle for Max Greenfield's talents, but time will tell.
  25. I agree, and this show might be missing a great opportunity with all the comedic talent on hand. I too am a Brooklyn boy born and raised, now living in the Jersey suburbs. Whenever I read or hear about Brownstones and Condos in my old Bed-Stuy neighborhood going for seven figures, oh wow. There is so much comedy that could be mined from the show's concept without even trying.
