  1. That's my point. It was a relatively easy if showy gesture. That's a very juvenile conception of what romance is. For all of Raj's flaws, I thought his ideas of what romance is and why he craves it were more sophisticated than that. I thought wrong, apparently. Or, maybe the not-so-sudden realization of dying alone (a terrible thought, actually) made Raj temper his romantic idealism a bit. It happens as some folks grow older.
  2. I have a hunch that Anu (?) will be the one to curb Raj's asshole-tendencies. As another poster pointed out, she figured him out very quickly, and Raj can easily be dominated by strong women. Also, despite her pragmatic, assertive nature Anu seems to have a sweet side that Raj's romantic nature speaks to. The proposal did surprise me; I expected her to call him back after he walked away...but to suggest continued dating, not matrimony. Could be after 11 seasons the writers felt like they had mined the "Raj can't find a woman" well as deep as they could.
  3. Guess I'm in the minority here, but this episode was actually pretty good IMO. I like Raj's fiance, she's got a real Mindy Kaling vibe going on. Will probably fit in a lot better with the group than any of Raj's past GFs. I hope they go the distance with the S/L. Even Stuart's found love, heh. And although it might not be an option in TBBT universe, those of us here IRL can actually purchase a working, road-worthy Batmobile replica if you have a couple of bucks lying around: https://www.hammacher.com/product/authentic-1966-batmobile
  4. I think it's called "Season 12." This show has been beyond good for most of its run, not surprised that a bit of the old "zip" is gone. I recall in an old TWoP thread where someone posted that there was a "tiredness" about the final season of Marlo Thomas' "That Girl." That could happen with BBT too, but I prefer to believe the Showrunners are going to give this show the proper send-off it deserves.
  5. Yes. Yes, it was. But I just don't understand an intelligent young brother getting that, ah, busy, without an ample supply of raincoats. Maybe one ripped on him?
  6. Sometimes starting all over requires doing crazy stuff in order to get things going. I'd never do anything that severe, but I get it. Ouch. If that's true, I'm probably not dating again this century.
  7. I partially agree with your take on the conflict factor. The crapping-where-you-eat things seems to be having repercussions rather quickly. On your other observation, two weeks ago, Kelsey herself told Liza "You've been gas-lighting an entire company for years! Let me have one secret." With my head of gray hair, I'm really sensitive to the ageism issue. ;0)
  8. Thanks BUFFYSHRUGGED! I never paid much attention to Lauren.
  9. From a narrative standpoint, they kind of had to pair Liza and Charles at this point. So many major characters (except for Diana) know about Liza gas-lighting the company that there's virtually no dramatic tension in that S/L anymore. Question to the Board: was Lauren always gay (bi?) or is this a recent development? Either way, the character has become much more interesting of late.
  10. This episode seems to be setting the stage for bigger things to come. Maggie's triumph is going to help Liza realize that major mid-life success is indeed a possibility, setting the stage for "Younger- The Book" under a new publisher. Diana's brush with ageism, so smoothly handled, will make her sympathetic to Liza's position, turning her into an even bigger supporter than she already is. And Charles' dick move will have finally turned Liza off (you could actually feel her dismissiveness of him in last night's final scene), and she'll be ready to move on from the empty suit.
  11. God, Charles is a stiff. It would be great to get Liza's POV about exactly what she sees in him. It really does seem like she's ready to end the charade now that Charles knows. Maintaining that kind of sham for so long would be totally exhausting IRL. Tonight was Liza's shining moment on this show IMO. Take note Charles. Liza handled Chrissie...like a Boss.
  12. Well, call me a hopeless optimist, but I'm hoping that 41 year-old tall Black/Latino attractive women can get a shot at that action too. On a brighter note, Miriam knocked it out of the park with her direction. She made a mediocre script move crisply and with confidence. Bravo!
  13. As fucking ridiculous as that crap was, you have to admit, the way Maxie described him, this iteration of the Colonel sounds like a pretty cool dude. Jeez, can't believe I just typed that. Next week on GH - a return of Casey the Alien. He'll be marrying Anna and Finn, Robin will be the Maid of Honor.
  14. And Josh and his moping. These two need to man up. I'm sick of them both. These are two of saddest male romantic leads in prime time. Given, I'm a straight male, but I don't see any characteristic of Charles "Furrowed Brow/Clenched Expression" that any woman would find even vaguely appealing. Dude always looks like he's frustrated that the Milk of Magnesia hasn't worked yet. And Baby-Boy Josh really does need to grow up/man the fuck up. Interestingly enough, I recently can across a great article on Sex and the City's 20th anniversary. The author makes a very insightful argument on how most of the (straight) male romantic leads on Darren Star shows basically suck https://nypost.com/2018/06/03/how-sex-and-the-city-betrayed-the-sisterhood/ Finally understand now why I always despised Mr. Big. Maggie made this episode for me, nice to have her back!
  15. Good point - this show doesn't provide any real sense of the passage of time. Other shows, like Frazier, frequently provided in-show topical references that let viewers know where the seasons stood in contrast to actual calendar years. Having said that, most original programming on TV Land tends to run five years. With last night's Big Reveal, there's a feeling that the show runners are setting the stage for a series finale in 2019.
  16. Oddly enough, I thought Sutton looked lovelier and more youthful last night than she has for a while. But the charade was going to have to end eventually.
  17. Before that, I believe he will, like Kelsey, feel hurt, betrayed, and more than a bit angry. Diana is more than likely going to be enraged and embarrassed by being played, with more than a bit of grudging admiration for Liza's ability to pull-off the fraud for four (!) years. I do believe Charles and Diana both care for Liza in their way, and will get over their respective feelings in three or four episodes. Poor Kelsey is going to have to deal with the "what did you know and when did you know it" interrogation from both of them unless Liza decides to protect her, and I believe she will at least try to.
  18. You nailed it, LION10! This episode reached Mystery Science Theater 3000 levels of suck-i-tude. For the biggest "Big Bad" of all time, Reign really went down hard and fast, didn't she? And J'onn? You're a telepath, dude. Could have taken the shooter down in two seconds by...putting him to sleep. The speech wasn't really needed. There are some talented actors on this show that really are being wasted. A course correction is still possible, though. I seem to recall that mid-way thorough Star Trek:TNG's second season the cast went to the producers to discuss poor script quality. From Season Three onward we got some of the best sci-fi ever produced (see "Best of Both Worlds"). It would be so great if Supergirl's actors had a similar sit-down with their show-runners, but it ain't likely to happen, IMO. On a positive note, the one saving grace of this episode was Olsen's "TESSMACHER!!!!" yell - the classics always play well.
  19. BLANCHEDEVOREAUX, - Agreed. I find the very notion of siding with Carly to to be "inconceivable," lol.
  20. The irony that Rosie owns a nut farm is almost surreal.
  21. Shallow pool time! Maybe it is a function of my disdain for the character of Smallville Lois Lane/admiration for Chloe/contempt for the powers that be's desire to put their Lois in as many costumes as possible, but I'd put her pretty far down in the list. Teri Hatcher, Amy Adams, Margot Kidder and Dana Delaney were all sexier IMO. 50s Lois Noel Neill probably also, except of course she was operating under the constraints of that era. Kate Bosworth is about the only Lois less attractive to me, and that might be a function of my hating Superman Returns. Not being able to swim, I live at the Shallow end of the pool. ;-) I'd forgotten how many different actors had played Lois, kind of supports my belief that it's always been one of the most difficult fictional characters to cast. Had also forgotten about Teri Hatcher from back in the day, yeah she was nice. The rest, meh. I noticed that too. She didn't even ask how Kal-El was doing, if he had a family, all the things an Aunt would want to know. He's actually starting to grow on me, despite myself. Still, he belongs back in the 31st Century with the Legion. Surely his staying in the past would alter the timeline. It'll be interesting to see if that comes up.
  22. Alex trying to dispose of that bomb reminds this old-timer of a classic super-hero movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pSD26bGy3I "Some days you just can't get of a bomb," lol. Erica Durance went from being the hottest Lois Lane (Smallville) of all to...this. Sad. The Martian Manhunter is dismayed that Alex doesn't wait for back-up and doesn't come to her aid until about...5 minutes later? This show had so much promise.
  23. It's not just because she's been so fucking obnoxious this season. It's also because Kara literally CANNOT win a fight. She was knocked off her feet 20 seconds into yesterday's climatic fight scene - by an opponent that had just acquired her super-powers. Here's the choreography for a typical SG fight: Kara makes dramatic entrance. Lands one or two solid punches. Obligatory use of Heat Vision. Then gets tossed around for the next five minutes like a rag doll. Then, on the verge of defeat, makes a plaintive, urgent plea to the baddie of the week, speaking to his/her humanity. Then the Deus-ex-Machina of the episode comes, ending the conflict. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
  24. Yeah, all things considered it was a pretty good episode. They came very close to salvaging this shit storm of an Anna/Peter/Henrik S/L.
  25. Griffin so impregnated Kiki yesterday. I'm actually looking forward to that possibility, could make for one of the best S/Ls this show has seen in ages.
