  1. I disagree. And if Palestinians kill settlers, there are gangs of settlers looking to beat up and kill any Palestinians they can find. It's not an eye for an eye, it's more like an eye for dozens of eyes. The settlers are just more emboldened with this right-wing coalition, some of whom are ministers saying they should take over all the West Bank, not just have settlements. If the Palestinians killed many Israelis, it would be the IDF going into those Palestinian villages, not with clubs and small arms, but with rockets, armored vehicles and bulldozers. You want to overlook the ratio between both sides because it's not even close.
  2. Wow that pro-Israel guest, she may oppose Netanyahu trying to weaken their Supreme Court but she sounds like him otherwise when it comes to Palestinians and the settlers. Israel is "not perfect." Since the Intifadas -- first was in the late '80s, early '90s and the second was from 2001-2005 -- which side has lost more civilians the Israelis or the Palestinians? The settlers go around like vigilantes looking for random Palestinians to beat up or kill, under the protection of the IDF. Recently, an IDF soldier executed a Palestinian journalist. https://www.npr.org/2022/09/05/1121119558/israeli-army-says-a-soldier-likely-killed-a-palestinian-american-journalist "Not perfect" but it's the only democracy in the Middle East ...🙄 Then she blathers on about how the Palestinian Authority has given $300 million to suicide bombers. Over what time frame, probably decades because they are not that rich. If we did go to Gaza, we could see how poor they are. Israel built a wall and for those Palestinian workers who have to enter to do low-skilled labor -- construction, domestic help, etc. -- it's a serious hassle. The tradition of apartheid is alive and well. HBO aired a very good show called Our Boys, created by an Israeli writer, about settlers kidnapping and killing an innocent Palestinian boy, shows what life is like out in the settlements and nearby Palestinian villages. Of course for Bill, it's just enough that Israel is the only democracy and all the neighboring Arab countries are against them. Except Israel is the only nuclear power and basically the only superpower in the region. BTW the protests they were discussing, Israeli reservists are threatening not to serve because of this controversy, which would hurt their security. Bill is not going to go too hard at guests but it's good to see him calling Yang on his third-party BS. Maybe he learned a lesson from supporting Nader in 2000. Oh and blaming inflation on the pandemic relief, because both Trump and Biden gave cash to people and businesses to keep the economy up. Well inflation is a GLOBAL problem right now. In fact it's much higher in Europe and really out of control in developing countries, including South America. They didn't rain buckets of cash on their citizens like the US did. EU gave some relief but nothing like the US. So why is their inflation so much higher? Well the war and the shutdown of China until a few months ago caused supply chain shortages and people kept paying higher prices for them. Then also the labor shortages, there are over 10 million job openings -- job growth is still strong, you think keeping the economy afloat with money had something to do with that? -- right now and just half the number of job seekers. Restaurants and other retail businesses can't operate like they did before the pandemic because a lot of front line workers quit or traded up jobs and while these businesses raised wages, they don't find workers as easily, because a lot of people are STILL sick, either Long Covid or an infection causes them to call in sick. Over a million people called in sick every month of 2022, which is like double the normal levels. So supply chain and worker shortages are common to all countries, whether they gave cash to their citizens and small businesses or not. But US was most generous and yet we have lower inflation than any other industrialized or developing country. Bill in his old age is like Ronald Reagan, cranky about government handouts and waste. Sure there's waste but in the early months of the pandemic, stock market was plunging and businesses were shut down and then going out of business. That is why Trump and the Republicans supported these aid programs, because in an election year, he didn't want the economy to crash. Also the way they administrated the program they rewarded cronies and wasted a lot of money through incompetence and being duped by wide scale fraud. You know the last thing the Republicans wanted to do was give money to people who are poor or working class, yet they did it for their own political reasons and of course the well-off benefitted more from these programs. BTW I noticed the new opening graphics, shows a collage of things Bill always talks about like a smart phone with a face with Xs for eyes showing how bad phones are for mental health and then some funnel dropping tons of syringes and fast food. You know, because fructose corn syrup is the worst and we're too fat, which is why people succumbed to covid, which otherwise is okay. Took a shot at masks of course during New Rules.
  3. could have sworn I read that Cranston said this would be the final season. But it says Season Finale in the Showtime app. Maybe Cranston doesn't plan to do more seasons. No way they continue without him, he's the big name in the cast. They did wrap up a lot of things. Olivia is going to try to get Conti to implicate Gina and Michael awoke. Big Mo expands her empire so they could continue some of these story lines. Gina doesn't care if Big Mo sells fentanyl all over the French Quarter, as long as it's not on her street. How about the next street over? She wanted Jimmy dead and her father imprisoned because of her father's sexism and now she's boss. Adam was stupid to get close to Fia. That's the incredible thing, of all the girls he could have fallen for, he chooses the sister of the guy whom he killed, which fact he's suppose to hide? So they find a way to save Eugene but honestly he's a relatively minor character, at least in the first season. He's also not good at evading being found out, like Adam was. Does Michael have relative peace of mind? He found out how his wife died and unburdened himself of the cover up plot, though I don't think Clay Davis is in trouble -- and for him to be in the courtroom is odd for a mayor who supposedly doesn't have any ties to this case or so he'd like to claim. Do survivors of victims who died tragically or due to foul play get more peace or relief from finding out how their loved ones were murdered? They've lost them either way so this subplot about how his wife died and then this bigger plot about the guy who shot Adam, it may give Michael some closure but does it remove or lessen his grief? I think season 1 finale could have served as the series finale. Michael did all this, compromised his principles, to keep Adam safe, but it was all in vain. A conclusion about one example of the absurdity of life. I'm glad I watched this season, as flawed as both seasons were. Acting was good, the writing, maybe the whole plot about Adam and Fia was in the Israel original so they stuck to it, no matter how dumb it is. They really tried to make this role as similar to Walter White for Cranston. Both characters start out as good men but are drawn deeper and deeper by circumstances into committing criminal acts and abandoning his principles and he and his family are under extreme threat by malevolent forces.

    Season 01

My attention kind of drifted through this extra long episode. People seem to like many of these characters but to me they try too hard to please, too hard to be cool, etc. Things happened but are they of any consequence? Jimmy went through the scrapbook, signifying that he's grieved enough and is ready to move on. Could that be why he slept with Gaby, this time both of them sober, again? Paul and his doctor, seems like that will be about weaving Wendy Malick into more scenes.
  5. It sounded like she was making a very good living. That $1800 a month has to be less than their rent/mortgage on their Miami McMansion. So I sympathize with her point, she doesn't have to settle for a cramped place, pointed out that they wouldn't choose to live in a tent when David said housing doesn't matter. They're not in their 20s any more so they don't have to scrimp.
  6. He didn't have a job yet so I guess he didn't want to rely on her income. Maybe he does't want to commit to buying long term in Lyon either, since he said Parisians wouldn't dream of living anywhere else. He was going to buy that place with the low ceilings and way out of the way to save $200 a month. What the heck is International Development? Must pay well enough for her to develop some champagne tastes.
  7. Yeah she chose the one which was like a dorm as she said. Probably university housing or private housing which is most often rented by students. Otherwise the prices were surprising for Sweden. With social anxiety, she even talked about how #1 and #3 had space for hosting people.
  8. So this case seems to energize Perry, though at first he was indifferent, if moved by the women who pleaded for his help. The Sunny case was soul-crushing, working for a client who was wronged but wanted to destroy his adversary as if he was an enemy combatant from WWI, in which he served. The call of justice was something he couldn’t ignore. Della didn’t hesitate to be on board as she visited the woman in the camp, the ruse being to return the doll. Mexicans probably didn’t have too many advocates in that time period even though many worked and lived here all their lives. The Gallardo brothers were born and raised in LA area, had similar aspirations as any other young American men of their age. But they were regarded as others, cheap labor. Pete casually calls them Spics, though he’s not inclined to see them as guilty by virtue of their ethnicity. So it must be eye-opening for Della, who attends dinner parties at homes of the rich, decked out in finery, to see these living conditions yet be moved on a human level By these women. I’m not sure in tHe first season, Perry and Della’s desire for achieving a measure of social justice or justice period was as well sketched. Perry was a private dick for hire and Della had personal ambitions to be one of few female attorneys — she wanted to break out beyond the strictures of roles traditionally meant for women, either stay at home or settle for a very subordinate role like secretary. Did she influence EB to take the case they did in the first season? In this second season she’s a partner with Perry and will work with whichever direction Perry wants to follow, first dropping criminal cases for civil cases, then jumping back to criminal in a very high-profile case — there could be a backlash to their firm as the victim was a well-regarded — on the surface anyways — scion of a wealthy family. This case is as much if not more a cause for Perry and Della. However long this series lasts, will it always be them pursuing ideals? Hamilton said there is no such thing as justice, just the illusion of justice. But Perry and Della are still believers in justice, which is not necessarily limited within the confines of a courtroom to them.
  9. UK and TX to Merida. A long distance couple marry during the pandemic and decide to live together in Merida. They will telecommute to their jobs overseas so they need fiber optics. House one is over budget but very well decorated yet doesn’t have fiber optic Internet. House two is more modest, under budget and has fiber optics. House three is well under budget, has fiber optics but is completely unfurnished so they’d have to buy furniture in a rental. This feels short term though apparently moving to Merida is the only way they could live together? Their budget wasn’t that low, maybe they could find something in Texas for $1300 a month. I forget his job but she’s an attorney in the UK — who could do her job remotely from overseas? Maybe this is more an extended honeymoon. He teases her about having dozens of kids. She kept harping aBout an authentic hacienda but none of the homes were. House 3 was more “traditional” but to me it was just a modern boxy construction like the other two except older with white appliances in the kitchen. He looked at one property with a big backyard and pool and said he didn’t want do yard work or keep that pool clean. Their personalities were mostly pleasant but tHeir circumstances smell fishy.
  10. Yeah it seemed like they proposed all these transactions for him to grow Sunny's empire. So instead of billing hundreds of hours for all the work these transactions would entail, they're offering a $1000 a month retainer. During the Depression, that is a pretty penny.
  11. Katie wants Ross to wife her up. Ross doesn’t see a future for them after the season. Brutal editing to juxtapose what both persons are thinking, making Katie look naive. Trying to remember when’s the last time a cast member other than the captain was in a relationship or married. Maybe Colin from BDSY? Obviously they’re trying to cast singles in their 20s and 30s mostly. Do they attract a lot of viewers in that age group or are Bravo viewers more in the 40s and older? Not seeing a whole lot of things which are new. They’re going to make the crew flex like bodybuilders. Oh yeah, that’s totally what the guests want.🙄
  12. Yeah I was wondering about that too. I guess Perry doesn't believe anyone could hit Brooks right in the face with one shot from a certain distance? When he and Paul examined the evidence, they could see for instance that Brooks shirt showed no sign of the struggle. Wasn't sure Della really cared about the case when she was trying to get Ham to offer a plea deal without death, life without parole was her last offer but do the defendants and their families want that? I guess better than the death penalty but maybe Della thought at that point that they were guilty. So Perry gave up criminal law because he was haunted by how the season 1 case turned out. But he could go do civil cases to pay the bills -- I think today, lawyers are way more specialized and they wouldn't be able to easily switch. They keep Sunny around so he could bankroll them and allow to take on these indigent clients. Maybe Perry was inclined to want to make up for ruining the other grocer because I think he saw an ad that the other guy was liquidating and closing his store. The fire on the casino ship now makes more sense, Brooks wanted his own ship to burn so he could collect insurance? Otherwise the ship was losing money or barely making some money? What seems likely to happen is that this case will put Perry on the hot seat, because public sentiment seems to be against the Gallardos. So Sunny may threaten to revoke his retainer if the public finds out that Perry is funding the defense of the Gallardos with that retainer. BTW, the police just ran through their camp and grabbed two young guys that they could find. There is probably no specific evidence though the finger print on Brooks' car is probably going to be explained some other way.
  13. Joel could have a valid complaint, that Marlene took the decision out of Ellie's hands -- as well as Joel's. Marlene was telling him this is just the way it's going to be, get lost.
  14. How would you even distribute this cure? Going to go to every region, fight raiders, infected and people who are protective of places like the one they're going to and say "we have a cure!" Just take this drug and you will be immune! Yeah how is that working out?
  15. Joel wasn't going to let Ellie die. Even if she herself wanted to do it for the chance to save everyone else. Not that a young girl like that would be giving informed consent. Yeah Marlene didn't expect that they'd grow so close when she asked Joel to take her. But she recognized it as soon as he woke up and maybe in reality, those Fireflies would have shot Joel even if he walked away peacefully. For all we know, they used the concussion grenade to disarm Joel and capture Ellie on purpose, not that patrol didn't recognize him. They just pulled Ellie away but they knocked Joel out, rather than hold them at gunpoint to identify them. Marlene's pretty ruthless. Despite her ties with Ellie and her mother, she presumably decided quickly that they'd sacrifice Ellie. Guess she's not better than FEDRA or Kathleen but that doesn't change the fact that Joel kind of went crazy, he wasn't going to let anyone harm Ellie, even if he had to massacre everyone there, which he did. Then of course he lies to her about what he did. Inside the Episode, Pedro Pascal said that Joel believed Ellie would have volunteered to sacrifice herself so it wasn't about Ellie not having a choice, it was that Joel couldn't bear the thought of losing her, after what they've been through, including times when Ellie was in danger.
  16. The Daily was serious work. Grant and Jonna got to their chain last yet finished before others. So were the the furthest out from the shipwreck or the closest, meaning the hardest puzzle? Lot of running and lifting so far. Looks like hot weather since most were in shorts and short-sleeve tops. Have they been in Cape Town or South Africa before? The scenery is suppose to be spectacular with nearby mountains looming over the seaside city. It would be cool if they make running up those mountains part of a Daily or the Final, though it's suppose to be a popular hiking destination so they may not be able to take over the trails. But if they can get access to sand dunes like that for a Daily, not to mention around that stadium for the Qualifier in episode one, they could have some cool venues. I imagine we will see water as part of some Daily soon. Maybe if they step up their Daily challenges, using things like stunt drivers and using helicopters again, that would explain only $500k grand prize instead of $1 million. They had to fly in cast from all over the world, though I don't think the starting cast size is more than other Challenge seasons. As for the voting and politics, the foreign cast wanted to gravitate towards each other, just like they did on Challenge USA with the casts from different shows. Those are natural alliances and they can vote together in the early voting. It's a very simple strategy but it could be the best one they have, because if they don't stick together, they will just get picked apart, like everyone is going after Argentina since Claudia got eliminated first. It's like rookies and newbies on the OG Challenge, they should stick together because the vets will always vote as a bloc to eliminate the rookies first. But they rarely do and almost always play right into their hands. Why call them Legends anyways, Theo and Nia each did one seasons previously? They performed well in some of the Dailies and maybe elimination but just call them all vets. So the teams should look to vote as a bloc and try to ally with another team but the vets will just influence their partners to vote out teams and ultimately protect vets. I can't recall but did any Argentine challengers vote for these Argentine pairs? Episode was just 45 minutes including opening and end credits. So kind of stingy that they didn't have the elimination. Previous Challenge seasons on Paramount + have only been 10 episodes but I think they started with fewer people. So who knows they may try to stretch this season out to 15-20, like the Challenge OG seasons on MTV. So that could mean you may have to subscribe 4 months instead of 2.5 months.
  17. Sandy for one thing said she did not hear Alyssa saying the captain sucks deck dick, says it was all editing. Does that mean Alyssa said it at some point on the yacht or they recorded her in post?
  18. Just finished watching it. I've only seen a handful of his standup shows aired on TV. I don't recall him being as overtly political as he was on here. With age and security, it seems he may be more willing to stake a position rather than not try to offend anyone. Maybe in his other shows he's been political before. I enjoyed it a lot and I'm absolutely puzzled that it's getting panned (41% RT Top Critics). Some of the criticisms were that he wasn't insightful or he's just telling jokes, not offering meaning. Other said it was predictable and like canned. Well he did craft some jokes around "selective outrage" and "don't need another rapper mad at me." I'm sure he wrote it with a structure and rehearsed it to flow from jokes to jokes. What do they expect, he just improvises and riffs the whole hour and then come up with "insights" on the fly? Thing is his previous Netflix special Tambourine got RAVE reviews (100% RT Top Critics). It was 5 years ago. I recall enjoying that but I don't recall any jokes or lines from that special. I probably will remember this one because of the whole thing with the Smiths, where he doesn't mince words, which I respect and then the mike slam end as well as him not afraid of being political. Maybe Tambourine was funnier and I've forgotten it or maybe this had some meaning because it was suppose to be his first response to The Slap. Maybe that raised expectations for many, including the critics.
  19. Yeah what a deal. Guess the low housing costs figured into their decision to move there. He’s going for school but if it was a high cost area like London, they’d probably look for another school elsewhere. Guess the second bathroom was more important than outdoor space to them. Both seem to enjoy shooting the episode. Kind of in the middle of nowhere compared to more famous places in Spain — hence the low-cost housing. But presumably he’s going to school for culinary skills so being in the Rioja wine region must be a part of it.
  20. This is launching next Friday, March 17. Another article. Read in Bloomberg: https://apple.news/AcuLvj6OiQ9uYw5YPCxanKQ Cast is well-known and presumably they spend money on SFX. But it's launching the same week as Ted Lasso so may not get noticed as much.
  21. I said OR they loop in dialogue in post. I know that they were doing multiple takes on shows like Laguna Beach, The Hills and some more recent MTV shows. The captain could be a potted plant, stay above the drama or they could be in the mix, add to the drama. Andy has on both villains and sweethearts on his show doesn't he?
  22. I have to admit my attention waned. So the qualifying event was a real test I'd say. More about strength and stamina, with the hammering segment and such. But they were going to target Argentina, since Claudia came in last and was already in elimination. Then all of a sudden it flipped and they voted for 2 of the top finishers among the women in the qualifying event? They looked like each country contingent was going to rally around and try to stick together in the voting and make alliances as a country group, rather than individuals. But like I said, I didn't pay attention in the second half. They decided to target good competitors for some reason? Like Australia as a group finished well so they voted in Kiki and Kaz was another strong finisher so they put her in as well? That's kind of what they did in Challenge USA, the casts from each show banded together and tried to take out outside groups.
  23. I'm not so sure they are sleeping with each other. They want you to believe it, because it's suppose to be a "reality" show. Maybe some cast members desperate enough to be on TV will have sex with other cast, just like apparently they do on The Bachelor shows. But this is basically a soap opera now like a lot of other reality shows and the drama is from cast hookups and relationships and fights over it, cheating, etc. So these soap opera reality shows always imply or outright fake some supposed couples.
  24. Just finished watching. Never watched Raising Hope but did watch Earl, which I liked well enough but barely remember now. I thought the pilot was terrific, probably a lot better than Earl. Second half didn’t have as much momentum, the complicated caper but still enjoyed it. It did feel self-contained. I think it would be a challenge to bring the gang back together again. Like Jack said he’s not a criminal and he no longer is desperate to restart his life after prison. Only so much more Robin Hood giving they could do to justify more theft. Gloria is the only one committed to that life.
