  1. No coverage yet you're claiming something happened. Either it's been reported somewhere or you were there in person?
  2. The Nuevo Leon episodes. I would never have guessed so much meat is consumed. I thought authentic Mexican cuisine wouldn't be so meat-heavy, especially beef. But in Eva's narration, certain cattle breeds were introduced in Mexico by the Spaniards in like the 15 or 1600s. They salt everything before cooking, probably add salt to the dish afterwards. Wonder what the life expectancy and incidence of heart disease in that region is compared to other parts of Mexico. Flour tortillas, at least the ones you get at the store, are also loaded with salt.
  3. Marcia congratulates Willa on the marriage, "look how far you've come." Willa: "you too, look at you now." Game recognizes game, though she's going to have to go with Connor to the Honeymoon states -- for Connor's vanity political campaign -- rather than to an actual honeymoon destination. Kendall, maybe he's showing a devious and ruthless persona or maybe he recognized that him seizing power and making power moves is what Logan wanted from him, what Logan would expect and respect He was right, telling Hugo it's what his father would have done and then threatening Hugo with the strap on, the same accusation Hugo had flung at his own daughter. I think Shiv knows Roman and Kendall will freeze her out so she went for promises of money (wet my beak) and she's probably also thinking about the pregnancy, how it might derail her plans.
  4. Seems like a short term home while she launches a new career, some online job after she completes some new education. They didn't say the Internet situation has been addressed or how they're dealing with collecting rain water.
  5. No doubt they matter to the athletes. But do they matter to the general public? If they don't, why does it matter if a very few -- so far -- trans athletes dominate women's sports? They're not being denied scholarships or income opportunities. If there are some documented cases, I'd like to see them. The point is, Piers Morgan and Bill both tried to make a big deal out of it, like it's outrageous that some young women were beat by a trans athlete. Like I said, context matters. Discrimination against LGBTQ have been far more horrific than some 19 year old girl not having x number of medals in college swimming or field hockey. But if they want to enable and be used as pawns to punch down on trans people, then I guess those medals do matter more than oppression.
  6. Sorry but the blunt truth is that unless they're good enough for Olympics, the most they should get out of college sports is scholarship, opportunity to train and compete within a structure provided by university. If you want more you simply have to be good enough for the Olympics. These sports just haven't drawn enough spectator interest, so if they get a college scholarship out of it or to continue what they've been doing since they were little kids, that's a lot more than others who go to college get. The medals and trophies are nice but they're just decorative unless it's for competitions like the Olympics which people actually care to follow.
  7. She may not have argued well for transgender rights but the opposite take being pushed by Republicans is grotesque. They are attacking the liberal and tolerant position by dehumanizing an out marginalized group. You can’t get more fascist than that. Morgan and Bill can fuck off with the transgender sports. There are maybe a half or a dozen athletes in the situation they tried to portray as some widespread trend. what glory is there for someone born male to compete against women just to win? What is their motivation, to set some records in a field few people follow outside the Olympics? A trans athlete setting women’s swimming records, BFD. There’s no money in that sport and come the Olympics, trans athletes still aren’t going to be allowed to compete against other women. I realize that some collegiate women swimmers have complained. So they should all boycott but please stop whining. They will still be able to c9mpete in the only women’s swimming c9mpetition which matters which are the Olympics games. And if they’re not good enough to qualify there, they were likely going to be mired in obscuritY anyways. they do have a right to feel it’s unjust. But they’re lending support to Republicans’ fascist attacks on a minority or letting a POS like Morgan bloviate and grandstand. Which is the greater injustice, trans people being oppressed and being told the way they view themselves is invalid or Kimmie not winning some NCAA meets? Bill can further fuck off comparing the NY case to the Clinton impeachment. Bragg is a Democrat but that case is not something that all Democrats are pushing, unlike the Clinton impeachment, which was complete partisan BS. And if Georgia prosecutes, the main principals in that case won’t be Democrats. Bill is tHe s who wants to both-sides every chance he gets. He did that shit in 2000, supporting Nader and watching Bush get into the WH and take the country into two disastrous wars, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians. He claimed he learned his lesson, says Trump can’t get into the WH again. But he has to be “real” so he’s got to call out the left and especially the young. Someone really young must have hurt his feelings badly.
  8. Canada to Brisbane. They showed a of the beautiful waterfront, as the Brisbane river snakes around the CBD. Lot of boarded paths for walkers and bikers, with free ferries. When I visited in November, there was a pelican and other wildlife sharing this space with humans. So Brisbane and other parts of Queensland offer a wonderful outdoor lifestyle but Amy prioritized having a bathtub, AC and a large kitchen to bake brownies. The properties were all fine but she chose the one with the bathtub and a kitchen she could mess around in. She didn’t mention a job, which could factor into her decision. She May not like the hot weather but it might be better to spend more time outdoors than in the kitchen or bathtub. She moved out of a small town in Canada so there are more events or social scenes for her to join.
  9. I thought both games were terrific. all of them worked together in the tunnel but seemed to get different totals, even when both teams unlocked on the first try. Kaz was really poor at calculations and got frazzled under pressure, as did Benja. KellyAnnes alliance was smart, they’d all been thrown in and would keep being thrown in. They had no other recourse or else they’d continued to be picked off one by one. Tori’s strategy seemed more about saving Jordan and she went to KA, who’d been loudly bitter about repeatedly being voted in. Wrong move, KA was the leader of the rebel alliance. In the elimination, Bananas and Justine were faster but obviously made a critical mistake. Kaz wasn’t much help, Jordan literally did the heavy lifting, physically and mentally. This was one exhilarating episode, both in suspense-buildup and the results.
  10. So Estelle moves to Munich for a chance to be with the bf from CA? Has to be more than that, maybe it’s a great job opportunity for her and this was the only way he could tag along and they could be together. Else she could have stayed in France and him join her there. Why would his employment prospects be better in Germany than in France? They’re not married so unless an employer sponsored him, he couldn’t work, period. Or she could have moved out to CA but she’d had problems getting a work visa though she speaks English better than he speaks German or French? be interesting to see if they’re still together, living together, in 3 or more years.
  11. Speaking of which how about Della calling Ginny "tasty?" If a man said that about a young woman ...
  12. I was thinking there was an oil leak that might threaten Lydell's business.
  13. Remember that Marcia tried to make one or more of her sons a big player in Waystar in season 1. In fact was it one of her sons who spotted Kendall sneaking back in after the car went into the water and he hiked back? But they didn't do more with those characters since. Last season she was negotiating for coming back to him and she may have made demands about her son(s).
  14. It's this weekend, this Sunday, April 16th. Check your DVR.
  15. So the big AHA! moment this season belongs to Della. And looks like the show doesn't just want to spring these revelations on the characters in the court room but also the viewers. The thing about burst blood vessels on Noreen did make you think that Brooks choked her during sex and it went too far. I think they hinted at it in the first episode of this season but didn't show it happening. The next time we see Noreen, Brooks is already dead and she's in San Haven, non responsive. But Della slowly unravels it in her questioning of Taylor and makes everyone in the court room, as well as the viewers tie things together. If Holcomb brought Perry this information about the blood vessels, some viewers would have conjured up theories and posted them on Reddit. But they reveal the significance within the same episode and then undercut it by having the smoking gun discovered. Thing is, even if Perry, Della and Paul solve everything and have a nice package to lay on the court, they were going to get in trouble for concealing the gun, because it's obstruction of justice regardless of whether he successfully defends his clients or find out who really killed Brooks. So were they planning never to turn in the gun? Then why not get rid of it? Or were they going to at some point turn it in, but doing so would never end well for them as there was probably no way to justify withholding it? Yeah Perry going off on Ginny makes no sense. Why and to whom would she blab it? Rhys says Perry is "weary" or suspicious of people -- he's also wary. Why wouldn't Strickland be the first person he suspects? Plus someone had broken into his office so why would his suspicions go to Ginny? I know it's realistic depiction of the times but the casual racism of some of the characters is really kind of difficult to hear in some of the dialog. Speaking of which, the eviction of the Gallardos depicted in episode 5 is actually based on the eviction of Hispanic people in Chavez Ravine, to make way for Dodgers Stadium, according to people interviewed on the Inside the Episode. But Dodgers Stadium opened in 1962 so the evictions would have occurred in the late '50s or early '60s. Not quite the '30s depicted on the show, before Civil Rights but still uncomfortably more recent than we'd like to admit.
  16. They all have to be operational faculties to an extent, presumably all available for the high leases the show was willing to pay. Otherwise, the condition of the grounds and the rooms would be in a poor state.
  17. I created a show topic. I never watch cooking shows of any kind but it's Tuscany so lets hope for food and scenery porn.
  18. Premiers April 16, 2023, Sunday. Food competition taking place in Tuscany. https://www.foodnetwork.com/shows/ciao-house Chef Gabe does a savvy piece of new show promotion by appearing on House Hunters International, which sees him choosing the villa they will use to house 10 chefs competing as well as cook the meals which will be judged.
  19. I think they had a genuine moment. Willa didn't lie to him that money wasn't a factor. And she joked that she isn't leaving him today, when he asked her if he postponed the wedding, he's scared she might leave him. She was honest about the money and told him she was happy, which is also true. Maybe Connor isn't the prince charming ideal she had all her life but their situation works for her. She probably gets enough money in the prenup that it's not a huge risk for her. If she wanted to find real love, she could have left him years ago rather than yield to the inertia of being in a relationship with a wealthy guy who could give her things she wanted, like the play. So them deciding to get married on their own, away from most of the family, seems like a genuine moment for them. Things could go to shit next month but for this day, they're a happy couple.
  20. Los Angeles to Tuscany. Chef and restauranteur goes back to Tuscany -- he was born and raised in Florence before coming to LA to become chef -- to lease a villa to shoot an upcoming show called Ciao House, a food competition show on the Food Network, premiering this Sunday, 4/16/23 He requires 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, large professional kitchen, large communal dining and living spaces, big grounds, swimming pool. Budget is $50-100k a week lease. He wants to be in the Mugello area, outside Florence, close to the land, the farms, the vineyards. Also imagine that most of the villas large enough with expansive grounds wouldn't be within Florence centro. They have no problems coming up with 3 villas which are all within the large budget of the show. Villa 1 has large kitchen, 14 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms, large grounds and swimming pool. But no large dining communal space. Villa 2 is a Medici villa dating back from the 12th century, with gorgeous exterior stone walls. it has enough bedrooms, bathrooms and large communal spaces but the kitchen is too small. It's the first one they eliminate. Villa 3 has a watch tower, has big grounds and pool, 10 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. The bedrooms are suite like, very large with large bathrooms. Too luxe maybe. It has a large kitchen space but only one sink and a large wood table in the center. Chef Gabe says he can't prepare food on wood and it has to be a larger, stainless steel island, slightly higher height than the dining table. Villa 3 is the choice, just one month later. They will have to do some renovations to fit the camera crew and all 10 chefs though. I didn't pay attention to where these villas were located relative to Florence and some other attractions but if I were staying in one of them, it would be one of the suites in Villa 3.
  21. Oaxaca episode: https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/eva-longoria-searching-for-mexico-restaurants/index.html I wonder how popular Oaxaca is relative to other Mexican states. Obviously a lot of Americans go down for the resorts, especially the coastal ones. Can you get the colorful produce in these popular coastal regions or you have to go to Oaxaca to try black or purple corn or the rippled (they called it kidney-shaped) tomatoes? OK, so what's the deal with the both male and female people? I think they called them muche or something that sounds like it? They looked like Frida Kahlo, with the hair put up in a bunch and the bold eyebrows. But the dishes they cooked up looked interesting, full of garlic, pineapples, etc. Eva can put away some rich dishes, despite being petite. Not to cast aspersions but is she keeping it all down, including the grasshopper with cheese thing?
  22. Jesse Armstrong said he didn't want a death scene and you don't see Logan dying. He also said he didn't want a death followed by a funeral and then the show is over. Inside the Episode draws out how they shot the scene differently. It was like a 27-minute scene and they had extra film and cameras stashed through the set so they could switch cameras when the film ran out on one. The cameras were on the Roy siblings all the time But it wasn't all done in one day. The actors had to get into the frame of mind of what they were shooting and they did things differently. Caulkin carried the emotional frame of mind home for a few days while Sarah Snook said she tried to put it out of her mind between days. Jeremy Strong doesn't say how he approached it but you figure he was in the scene for days, really immersed in it emotionally, based on what he's said about his approach. They shot 28-pages of script for this scene where the children are each reacting to the news. For comparison, Strong says on movies, they may shoot 2 pages of script in a day. So Roman holds off on accepting that Logan is gone, or won't admit it when Shiv and Kendall have. Yet they rally and say they have to reserve their rights, their places in the company. They have to be involved with the public announcement and so on. But the coming scenes for the rest of the show seems to suggest that they will go back to competing against each other, jockeying for position, along with Tom and then also dealing with Mattson. I have to wonder though, do they have to wait for the execution of Logan's will? They often mention a family trust with various members slated to get their portion of the inheritance. The inheritances which Logan gives each of them might give them more of an advantage in running the company. Or at least more of a say if they wind up with bigger percentages of the company than before Logan's passing. That's why I'm surprised they're talking about Tom as being a contender. Maybe Logan will leave him something but would he leave more to Tom than to his children, whom he was alienated from and didn't think they were "serious people?" Greg is still around for comic relief. Shiv was cold to him this episode but in the previews it looks like the children are tolerating him, but not outright telling him to GTFO. But unless he gets more shares, either from his uncle or Logan or both, it's surprising how much they tolerate him. Maybe he makes them feel better about themselves or they think they're better than him, which may or may not be true. Looks like Connor and Willa have a heart to heart and still do the wedding, with most of the guests gone. That's kind of sweet and maybe way more genuine than the big spectacle Connor wanted. But again in the previews, he hasn't given up his quixotic quest for the presidency or to command more respect. Connor's reaction to Logan dying is that he didn't have a chance to prove himself to Logan or make Logan proud of him. Also, whoever does end up running the company, assuming it's not sold, they still seem to be using Logan's playbook, which is to try to get their candidate Mencken into the WH. If Shiv was in charge, you wouldn't think she'd go through with it but then again, maybe having power changes her, makes her put aside her ideals.
  23. South Africa to Brisbane - Australian wife returning to Australia with South African husband and two young boys, one of them a toddler. They talk about wanting to live in Australia for the schooling of the boys, even though the older one says he wants to go back to South Africa, not live in Australia permanently. She wants modern, he wants character and he is strict on budget, she isn't. They both gave up jobs in South Africa but by the end of the episode they both have jobs, though they don't say what they're doing. So while he wants to stick to a budget, there really isn't a financial constraint because of lack of income, even if they portray it that way at the start. First home is about 15 minutes away, modern with a nice pool in the back yard. He doesn't like it being modern and likes the yard for the boys but she says it would be too much maintenance. They don't like the stairs. It's also furnished while the other two aren't fully furnished. Second home is about 30 minutes away from center of Brisbane but it has its own shops and restaurants nearby. Another modern home, small yard, big kitchen. Hubby grouses that it's a generic white box. Third home is a Queenslander, near the center but it only has one bathroom and 2.5 bedrooms. Not furnished but husband, a skateboarder, loves the character he says. It's got a bigger yard but nobody talks about it being on a busy street -- you can hear the cars whizzing by -- though the property is fenced off. They eliminate the first house and wife talks up the greater space in home #2 but husband says character of home will be good for the kids and she agrees, even though it's constrained in space and only has 1 bathroom for the 4 of them. 3 months later they said they got jobs. I suspect location was the prime factor probably for their jobs and schools for the kids. They shoot a lot of the episode along the expansive open spaces along the river which runs through Brisbane CBD. Certainly a good thing to be nearby, all the parks and river walks.
  24. I’m actually planning a visit to The Cotswolds in the fall, my first time. Would spend a couple of nights in Bath and then drive about an hour north. Actually looked at a few places in Burton on the Water, where the first home was located, which is a big tourist draw. Parking is difficult and you don’t have as many dining or lodging options. Seems more of a day trip destination. As it turns out I opted for a vacation apt. Near center of Cheltenham with parking included and walking distance to shops and restaurants. It seems you don’t have to go far to see open rural countryside or the picturesque thatched roof cottages which is quintessential Cotswolds. Bath and Oxford are also just an hour drive away. I don’t know where the husbands base job was but I can see the appeal of a larger city, especially if they were planning for her to work but not have a car. I didn’t realize wives of American military servicemen could work in other countries though. But she was born and grew up in Canada which is part of the Commonwealth so maybe she can work in the UK whereas an American may not be able to without getting a work visa. Seems like they were able to afford that big home but who maintains the garden? That seemed like quite a bit of work too. I’m hoping for as good weather as they got when they filmed this episode but I suspect they will wait days for good weather to shoot because even rainy destinations are sunny on HHI. Also noticed recently that more and more house hunters on HHI are now driving together to reach the homes so as far as HHI is concerned, the pandemic is over.
  25. Danny isn't mentioning his wife much this season. But he's a lot more combative. Pretty much challenged Theo to fight him if he didn't like what he was saying.
