  1. Earl Sr. was nuts and absolutely delusional. Tiger was a golf star, not Nelson Mandela, Malcolm X, Cesar Chavez, etc. His father carried on as if Tiger was going to cure cancer, AIDS, world hunger, and create peace in the Middle East. So ridiculous. Tiger is (was) a great golf player, but that's about it. We're talking about someone who accepted the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Donald Trump, habitually cheated on his wife, and was a self loathing mixed race black man, who didn't like his own brown skin -- but I actually feel bad that his exes were a part and shared old personal/private moments etc. But he did like a hard faced white woman, Elin being the exception.
  2. It was a waste of 50 minutes. LOL. Although the panel was good. Bill continues to be wrong about a lot of things - including trying to turn one of the terrorists who got killed on Jan. 6th into a sympathetic figure.
  3. I'm so disappointed in the show. So disappointed. They are absolutely wasting Whoopi Goldberg as Mother Abigail. Whoopi has the chops! Have they not watched The Color Purple? Skarsgard is being wasted. Marsden is being wasted. Ah. So many talented actors, being given so little to do. The original miniseries was four two-hour episodes - you figure about 90 minutes without commercials - so about six hours of air time and they told a full story. Here we are five hours in without commercial breaks and I feel like nothing has really happened and the story is moving way slower than it should be and I don't get it because it's not like we are getting lots of character development. We should have MORE by now. And how ridiculous that after what 10-15 minutes of the investigate Harold's home, right away he'd notice one chess piece facing the wrong direction.
  4. Part of the problem is that while Amber Heard is a lovely woman she's really not that good of an actress.
  5. That's next on my list. I might binge tomorrow!
  6. I couldn't find a forum for this show. It dropped on Netflix a few days ago. If you like Kingdom (South Korean show), OG Walking Dead, anything horror related, or Korean TV / Cinema in general - check out this show. I'm halfway through the first season (it has already been renewed for a second season) and I'm really liking it so far. Sweet Home Sweet Home Netflix Page
  7. This episode. LOL. For starters, being the youngest doesn't mean you're the smallest. It was dumb to make it seem like Grace was the only one who could fit that opening since the other two are actually thinner and more lithe. Also, so disappointed that this show went the I liked dresses and dolls when I was kid route. As if little boys cannot like dresses and dolls. Liking dresses and dolls does not equal gender dysphoria or trans. That entire scene seriously felt like a social justice warrior wannabe woke public service announcement. Three episodes and three hours in and there has been hardly any forward momentum. At this point I feel like I'm watching the same episode with minor tweaks, I'll try episode four but if something doesn't happen to propel the story forward, I think I'm out.
  8. I'm in! I love Rebecca Ferguson and Janet McTeer.
  9. They are, in fact, a lot of one-issue or single issue voters but that's outside the scope of this thread. I will say that it's not just one thing, it's a bunch of little things that add up; and as the saying goes, perception is reality. ETA: I removed a large portion of my response in order to avoid violating any rules.
  10. Yes. In the progressive spaces you frequent. I live in the Midwest and I have yet to encounter a Latino/Latina who likes the term Latinx. It's trying to fix or solve a problem that doesn't exist. Spanish is a gendered language. You just cannot borrow from it and make up a word to appear more inclusive. Here's another one from August of this year: Latinx Not Preferred Term Among Hispanics
  11. Yes! You are spot on. I was a little disappointed that Max, Caitlin, and Bill were frothing at the mouth talking about the working class the whole time, when they meant the white working class. I'm over that obsession. As a group white people have been voting for Republicans by a 60-40 margin since Johnson. It's time for the Dems to stop trying to cater to a group of people who have rejected them time and and time and time again.
  12. I just did a full rewatch - thanks COVID. And I forgot how much I loved this show. I will always hate the Juliette becomes a Hexenbeist and then becomes Eve business. It's obvious they just didn't know what to do with the character but wanted to keep Bitsy. They should have just had her die a tragic death and been done with it. I also wished the show had leaned more into comedy, because Blind Love was great. As was Nick pretending to be Renard. Surprisingly enough, Adaline's redemption storyline holds up, and so does her and Nick as endgame. But I will never forgive this show for killing Meisner. Never.
  13. Weren't most Kings cheaters back then? I feel like not having some kind of mistress would be the exception to the rule. Also, Aunt Lady Pole, is becoming my favorite character. She is very good at getting what she wants. And I could listen to Peter Egan's voice all day long.
  14. I'm with white Chris. Candiace just needs to learn when to shut-up and stop. Why is Candiace so desperate for an apology from Monique? You filed your charges, don't worry about Monique.
  15. This would have been better without Catherine Oxenberg. Now that I'm seven episodes in, I can actually see exactly why people fell for Keith Raniere's bullshit. Also, while I'm not shocked that Sarah and Nippy (that damn name) are still married because they have two young children - I am pretty surprised that Bonnie and Mark are still married.
  16. I just think Ruby's top priority is her sister. She knows Christina is up to no good, and she wants to make sure her sister and her sister's child are safe. It makes perfect sense. If I was in her shoes, I wouldn't be worried about Atticus either. Also, it's mind boggling to me how many people and black people in particular are still okay with whupping their kids. Talk about passing down trauma and abuse.
  17. Well this episode just made me lose respect for all of the adults in Dee’s life. They totally failed that poor child this episode. I mean I get that they are dealing with their shit but I was shocked at how dismissive Leti in particular was of her.
  18. That would be nice but it appears that Lovecraft is another show that can only show black love when it's struggle love. SMH.
  19. Back in the day, people would make their own clothes or save and spend money on quality pieces that could be worn for years. I know the nightgown is an exception but women also wore appropriate support garments - and either knew how to do some slight alterations/tailoring or they took it the neighborhood tailor. Just about anything can look good when it's made by someone with skill, fits the right way, and you have the right support garments. It wasn't the cheap fast fashion that we have today.
  20. I'm still enjoying the show myself but I feel like something is missing and I can totally see why some critics said that what you think the show is changes drastically after episode five. I enjoyed Meet Me in Daegu, however, it still felt a bit out of place or like I was watching a different show. I'm guessing they provided the backstory about Tic because it's important to what plays out in future episodes; but it was a choice to provide Tic's backstory in this fashion. I still hate the version of Sinnerman that plays over the end credits.
  21. Are we supposed to think David himself raped? Or abused as a child? I was kind of confused by this speech in the bathroom when he kept saying David. I felt like the episode was trying to get me to be sympathetic toward her rapist, and that left me feeling all kinds of confused.
  22. That was trippy! Shocked that Uncle George appears to be dead, dead. Also, Tony Goldwyn's voice still does things to me. I really don't trust those two younger Braithwaite's either.
  23. The fashion of the era was just fab! I’m a child of the 80’s but I’ve always loved fashion, history and the history of fashion. People took such pride in their appearance back then and wore great flattering clothes; something that is really lacking today.
  24. It was the same guy. It was Sheriff Hunt who was in the files they had been looking at. He stopped them and drove them out of one county into the county over and linked up with the other cops. When they were walking through the woods he said are you really from Chicago. They told him they were from Chicago when he initially confronted them and Atticus knew his name from the file they had been looking at the previous evening. The whole thing was a setup to drive them right into the arms of his waiting men.......
  25. Thanks! It's pretty obvious though that TV Leti is biracial and not just a light skin black woman; I wonder if that will be addressed or explained in the show. Plus, she's played by one of the more well known biracial actresses who comes from a well known acting family. Side note, I just got done reading a very interesting article about the erasure of black women in film and TV and how many of the limited roles for black women go to biracial women who tend to have an ethnically ambiguous or obviously biracial look.
