The best part about this episode was The Baker and the Beauty mini-reunion! It was great to see Michelle Veintimilla and Carlos Gomez - and they were playing father and daughter. My question is, do we know for sure that Blake was dead before Cheyenne pushed him over a cliff? I feel like that's a classic trope, Character B thinks Character A is dead and then stages a suicide or murder; turns out Character A wasn't dead until Character B started meddling.

It’s the plastic surgery. It’s always the plastic surgery. Now instead of just looking older than she did 20 years ago, she is older with bad plastic surgery. It’s a pity because she was such a beautiful woman - and still would be without the surgery.

S01.E06 How Does It Feel To Be So Beautiful?
ShellsandCheese replied to AimingforYoko's topic in Clarice
I don’t care about Catherine or her issues. I hope the show drops that plot. And there’s no way this group of people would have ever been let near VICAP; hell, there’s no way they would have it made to the FBI. Too many issues and personal problems. So I’m at the point where I’m finding most of the show wholly implausible. -
S01.E04: The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of

I’m with you! Wheatley and his first wife are so hot together. They ooze chemistry, unlike him and his young wife. ETA: I’m also not buying the Gina - Richie situationship. -
CBS, Viacom, Paramount are doing a horrible job with this show. It's darn near impossible to find on the Paramount + application; whereas Clarice is always on the main page and I didn't even realize that I had missed two episodes because I never got the continue watching. I know they just renewed it but do they want it to fail? I don't understand why it's not featured more prominently on the app.

I’m on Ardelia’s side. Ardelia isn’t going to be extended the same grace as Clarice if there is even a hint or a remote possibility that she (Ardelia) was letting her personal relationship with Clarice impact her being told to investigate VICAP. If Clarice would listen and pay attention she would have realized what a tenuous position Ardelia was already in, as a black woman delegated to working cold cases. I don’t blame Ardelia for not risking everything to help Clarice with the original investigation; she wasn’t obligated to do so, it could have been used against her, and it absolutely could have let some twist it and portray it as a conflict - as in Ardelia can’t do her job.

Is she a villian, though? 🙂 Also, why the hell did we get that convoluted defeat Thanos plot with too much testerone involved when Wanda was right there the whole time? They really should have had her play a more integral role in the defeat of Thanos. #mostpowerfulavenger #elizabetholsenwaswasted

I can’t tell if you’re joking but the Harry and Melody are married on the show. Hence the flirting and whatnot. Also, considering it’s 2021 and every TV show is pushing diversity of everything - my initial thought with the teens was that their friendship turned romantic and then they had a falling out. And we were going to get some very special episode about Robyn dealing with her daughters sexuality.

And she was in this dandy little Netflix movie All I Wish with Sharon Stone and Tony Goldwyn. I love that silly little move.

Definite improvement over the pilot, in fact, I think this would have worked better as the pilot. But the daughter remains unnecessary and the weakest link.

Isaiah Washington still works and was just in P-Valley. However, he is an absolute garbage human being, so he needs to stay far, far away from this show.

This show could have and should have been so much better than it was. It was such a disservice to every actor involved. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Also, I cannot believe that Frannie was dumb enough to get on that rickety well covering.
-
Well, I hope it improves. It was very meh. I swear all the CBS procedurals are interchangeable. This felt like an episode of Criminal Minds.

It's a work of fiction, so I don't mind the body count. Including the silly little paper boy who decided to play detective or whatever. I feel like the show is finally starting to get interesting after the world's slowest most repetitive start. I refuse to believe that Legarski was the only cop on it this trafficking scam, I think it's a given that at least one other cop was involved, but I think it would be too obvious for it to be Tubbs or whatever.

I don't know how I feel about this show. I like Queen Latifah, Chris Noth, and I like the supporting cast, especially Liza Lapira. But I am tired of law enforcement - law agency related procedurals. They couldn't find a comedy for Queen? She's got great comedic chops. I hate it when forward progression of plot is dependent on someone doing something so incredibly stupid that it defies logic. Teenager or not, or maybe because she was a teenager, I found it hard to believe that Jewel would be dumb enough to leave the apartment knowing that two men were trying to kill her and that whoever committed the murder she witnessed had the pull to edit security footage to make it seem like it was her. And I wish Hollywood would stop using waterboarding as the go to let's torture someone plot device.

Talented cast? Yes, for the most part, with a few exceptions. Good source material? Absolutely. Successful previous miniseries that you could use a blueprint? Yep. So I am really struggling to understand how this turned out so bad. It's like they went the seasons 6-8 Games of Throne route and sacrificed storytelling, character development, and plot for "set pieces", except they forgot the model doesn't work for this type of story. I really don't care what happens to anyone, because I'm not invested in any of these characters. The audience was supposed to be saddened by Glen's death, it's supposed to be an emotional gut punch; but I didn't even blink because I feel like GK has gotten maybe 45 minutes of screen time total.

Right? I can't help but think they realized Amber Heard would not pull off the character arc as it is in the books, or even the original miniseries — so they made some on-the-fly changes. That's me being positive, lol. But more than likely the changes were planned - they better not try to turn her into a last-minute hero though.......

S01.E04: We Interrupt This Program
ShellsandCheese replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in WandaVision
Kat Dennings just doesn't do it for me as Darcy. I really don't buy her as this super smart doctor of astrophysics. Of course, I had the same problem with Natalie Portman's portrayal of Jane in the first two Thor movies. Other than that, I enjoyed the episode. But out of the four I've seen so far, last weeks is still my favorite for now. Elizabeth Olsen has been doing an amazing job -- she's probably a lock at this point for all the awards. It's good to see that she's being allowed to showcase her acting chops. I feel like she was absolutely wasted in the movies. -
Yeah. Better episode but it left me so incredibly frustrated because it highlighted how they totally underused and squandered the talents of so many talented folks. We are seven hours in and the character development has been so bad and lazy. Not sure how I feel about the changes in regards to Nadine and Flagg. And because it can’t be said enough, Amber Heard is awful as Nadine.

I wish the show would go there - and delve into Darby's issues. Otherwise, she just seems sad and pathetic, especially for marrying an unemployed dude that she doesn't even have halfway decent sex with and doesn't even seem to like most of the time. I'm sick of seeing this same played storyline of women who are trying to do things, seem to have good careers, and halfway decent lives marrying and dating this sad sack dudes who bring nothing to the table and can't even give them a good orgasm for goodness sakes.

This is just a crappy adaptation. The book definitely holds up, and the original miniseries does too, mostly. (Granted references and FX is totally dated). For what it's worth, I still think the opening of the original miniseries is one of the best ever openings for any TV show, miniseries or movie. Especially the credits...............The Stand Opening + Credits

Agreed. They just cannot get Frannie right. Molly Ringwald was absolutely miscast and I so was Odessa Young. In both versions they made Frannie just so boring and uninteresting too.

I've always loved the Bee Gees, and this doc just solidified my love for them. They were so talented! And they wrote so many songs that I just absolutely love.
