  1. I got FJ, but hesitated because I knew Muir was from Scotland. When I visited Braemar Castle in Scotland, a Muir re-enactor led a nature walk. I didn’t go, but I listened to the beginning. Too bad the champ couldn’t get “that Russian author” spit out.
  2. I liked this episode, but then I’ve thought most of them were good this season. Theme seemed to be families, both problematic and healing wounds. Glad Hondo’s dad stuck around and they had that talk. Mother being reunited with daughters was great - happy(ish) ending. And yay! Luka’s back!
  3. I seem to remember the goddess Pele was answer in the not too distant past? Can’t find it at the moment, though, so maybe I’m misremembering.
  4. If he knows about Hailey, sure, and he might get something for her while in California. We don’t yet know if Kate had been in touch with her uncle about her children.
  5. The cut-off age is 75, so he’s not quite old enough yet.
  6. @Jeddah Where we are, DH and I are both in the 65+ age group, with underlying conditions. I got my first one a couple of weeks ago, and DH got his first one last week. We won't both be finished and outside the 14-day waiting period until end of April. Topic? Yes, could have gone as checked, but usually by the time you're to the point where security/TSA is checking carry-on, it's too late to go back to where it could have been checked. And I've read more than once never to wrap a gift; it's almost an invitation to open it up. Although the agent did say if he had the address it could be mailed, I think Nick thought they were too fragile to be shipped. Nick's state of mind is still somewhat fragile, and he couldn't cope with the denial. I was relieved that he apparently got through the checkpoint without being overly detained.
  7. Don’t know where you are, but it’s not that easy. Nick got his courtesy of the VA, but might not be readily available near the cabin. Also unsure if it’s really that easy via the VA. Fictional TV, etc.
  8. Loved this episode! Glad Kevin reached out and kept trying with his Uncle Nicky, and it eventually led to Nicky opening himself up more, and the trip to California. Also glad we got some of the backstory with Sally & Nick & Pearl (also a nickname for Janice Joplin).
  9. Stone? What stone? There's a Stone in Hunger Games? j/k, sort of. Not a Hunger Games fan, zero movies watched, zero books read.
  10. Week 27: 2/5, one * YTD: 57/135 nine*
  11. I don’t know if this has been posted recently; it’s from a few years ago. It’s just started in rotation again.
  12. I did as well! I don’t know if you were supposed to be impressed by that, but I was. She saw there was a problem with Jack handling the family finances, and instead of waiting until it got worse, she stepped up to do what was needed. Back then (and not as long ago as we’d like to think), the man of the house was the breadwinner, and his wife took a backseat when it came to handling money in many aspects. There were exceptions, of course. With some couples, both participated in money decisions; others, depending on talent, interest, and available time, would have one partner do most or all of the financial decisions, work, etc. YMMV.

    Wonder (2017)

I watched this on tv this afternoon. The cast was good, the story uplifting; I liked it more than I expected to. is there something in Owen Wilson’s contract that requires More people need to see this. Choose kind is a message that needs to be spread widely.
  14. Anyone else bummed with the time change? I’d be fine with either standard or Daylight Saving Time, but quit switching twice a year!
  15. How does that work? To me, a board is cleared when all the clues are revealed, whether or not the “what is...” response is correct.
  16. I thought I was serious, but could someone please clue me in on the significance of the Golden 50? TIA!
  17. Week 25: 2/5, 0* YTD: 54/125 eight*
  18. Loved the “Alphabet Dogs” category; I knew them all right off except for boxer. I hope @saber5055 got them all! FJ was an instaget. Nice change from all the “no ideas” that have dominated my FJ answers lately.
  19. I also said Notre Dame. In 23 hours in Paris, I visited Notre Dame, the Mémorial des Martyrs de la Déportation, the Louvre, Sacre Coeur, had a Berthillon ice-cream. It was supposed to be two days, but flight delays cut it short.
  20. Not to mention, they have no money, so how does Jackie come up with the funds for re-interring Roseanne, moving her headstone (assuming she has one), buying a new plot, etc. Did she just sweet-talk to cemetery manager into doing it gratis? Kind of mean but funny that she's arranged for Bev to be buried there, though.
  21. What’s a bottle episode?
