  1. All the usual paraphernalia surrounding getting your periods was well represented, but at that time I think most might have thought tampons could be omitted, because they are inserted rather than worn. I got my period at age 10 in 1961 or ‘62, and that was considered young. Even when you know what to expect, getting your first period can be upsetting and embarrassing.
  2. The Kate/Toby episode was difficult. I’ve been through a divorce once, and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I identified with both of them. So many feelings!
  3. No, nothing was said at all about the woman with Henri. I also don’t like the visible zippers when they’re overdone. Same with the “cold shoulder” look that is still popular. Not that I’ve seen that in Bull, just a fashion commentary. I thought that instead of Bull telling Rafael to go to a meeting, they should have gone together. Bull is also on a sobriety journey. Be good for him to go as well. I’ve never really liked Izzy very much either. Nothing concrete, just not my cuppa.
  4. I never did get one. Dad farmed, and some years were pretty lean, so we couldn’t afford it.
  5. Week 31: 3/5, 1* YTD: 75/155, 6*, 6A*, 2M*
  6. Bringing over from episode thread Saturday in the Park. I was adopted at 18 months old with my brother who had just turned 3. We both have childhood memories from those ages. I think some of my memories are from family talking about them, but there are others that I know are my own vivid memories.
  7. I think it’s on some other streaming services as well.
  8. We’ve watched Vintage Base Ball in several locations, such as Wichita at Old Cowtown, near Des Moines at the Living History Farms, and in Virginia. Yes, makes for a great afternoon!
  9. I’ve watched the three seasons of Miracle Workers. Each is a different story with different characters. I liked season 2 the best, but I think all are worth watching. The humor is a bit quirky, some might say twisted, and irreverent, but I’ve enjoyed it a lot.
  10. Week 30: 2/5 YTD: 72/150, 5*, 6A*, 2M*
  11. As Bastet mentioned, the title is How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and not, Without Even Trying.
  12. Ken Burns's four-hour documentary, Benjamin Franklin, explores the revolutionary life of one of the 18th century's most consequential figures. Episode 1 | “Join or Die” (1706-1774) Episode 2 | "An American" (1775-1790) I watched Episode 2, but not Episode 1 yet. It's a thorough, in-depth look at Franklin's life and legacy.
  13. I’ve heard of Succession, but never watched nor do I know anything about it. I figured the family name was LeRoy or something similar, but that was it.
  14. I've read both books, and my brother's class performed both plays for their junior and senior high school plays. I've also seen the Myrna Loy movies. One of the Gilbreth children, Frank B. Jr., wrote several books and was a columnist for a Charleston, SC newspaper writing under the pseudonym Ashley Cooper.
  15. I love minor league baseball! When we lived in Wichita, we went to the then-Wichita Wranglers games several times a season, and we were in the stands in 1992 when they won the championship for the Texas League. When we moved to Omaha, we went to several games for the Omaha Royals, getting season tickets for several years. We also went to games in Des Moines, and when on vacation, went to the opening night for the Toledo Mudhens, Max Klinger's hometown team (M*A*S*H). Since moving to Virginia, we go less because the teams are farther away, but we have been to games for the Norfolk Tides, the Richmond Braves and the Richmond Flying Squirrels, and the Potomac Cannon before they became the Potomac Nationals, then moving to Fredericksburg. One year our summer vacation was a minor league baseball tour of North Carolina, with one game in Johnson City Tennessee. Eight nights,, one night per city/town, eight games, from A up to AAA. So much fun! We toured something in each place. A highlight was the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. We also enjoy college baseball, but haven't been to a game for several years now. I prepared taxes during tax season, and then covid came along. I've been to a couple of major league games (Kansas City, Atlanta) but like the minors much more.
  16. Week 29: 4/5 YTD: 70/145, 5*, 6A*, 2M* I love minor league baseball! Taking to small talk.
  17. I would, until I tried to find something I used and that had been deemed clutter by the organizer. Or until I had to figure out if it was still in the house, where it might be.
  18. He did refer to a collegiate team/league, but I couldn’t figure out which one. There is a summer collegiate league and team based in Greensboro. There’s a team in Hampton VA called the Peninsula Pilots. I’m interested enough to do some more research. They may play against the Greensboro team.
  19. If Joey from Greensboro NC is the mascot for their minor league baseball, here he is:
  20. Rebecca and Miguel lived near Randall and Beth when they decided to move out to LA.
  21. I quite enjoyed this episode too. I need to remember to watch before I read here, but I wasn’t surprised at who left anyway. I’ve made mousse but not souffle. Now I want to try making one. Chocolate or cheese is the question. One minor nit-pick, and that’s I wish the longer-haired contestants would tie or pin their hair back. This is true for all cooking shows.
  22. I once spent close to $300 on a purse, and for me, that’s expensive. It was large enough so I could use just the one bag for work, though. Did we know Calvin had a wealthy via lottery win brother? I don’t remember Gemma’s pageant past either. I’m not a minimalist, but for dresses like that, wouldn’t pictures and memorabilia be enough to remember the glory days? Mr. Zoey & I are retired, but I relate much more to Calvin & Tina. I find both Gemma & Dave so annoying sometimes.
  23. I'm very intrigued by this series. I liked having an older DCI who had a lover. Far too often, women "of a certain age" are considered sexless, if they're considered at all. So far, a couple of twists have kept my interest. Sean's torture/murder was a bit much, but just underlines how amoral the crime family is. I'm wondering what year it was filmed and what years it's set in. The flip phones take me back a bit.
