  1. Think I might need to convince Mr. Hula-la to start apologizing to me with cake.
  2. A fellow Canadian—no wonder you’re so awesome! I didn’t realise that we could vote. I remember the few times I was in the States when the show was on, and was excited that I could vote. No SYTYCD voting, no good Super Bowl ads. That is the price we pay for being Canadian.
  3. Did Angela just buy handcuffs for aBlack man? Then have him put on Trump boxers? WTF?
  4. I’m loving the voice of Cheryl (Sheryl?) Low, the bride from Hong Kong. I could listen to her talk about anything!
  5. I actually liked this episode. It was a nice relief from the constant “the life of the firm is in the balance” tone of the last few seasons. I did have to wonder about the height of Samantha’s heels for a road trip (and am in awe that the actress can walk in them). Wouldn’t you just bring flats, so you can chill out for a long ride? Louis, as usual, was hilarious and insufferable. I agree with the posters above who thought the lunch was going to be a dream. I’ll really miss his character. Man, did I hate his character in the first few episodes, and now I love him. At least I have his mug to get me through.
  6. Dave and Irina are on my local morning news right now, and they’re just as insufferable as they were on the show.
  7. I know exactly where you're coming from, but as Nigel has said before, they're looking for America's favourite dancer, (the implication being that it's not necessarily the best one).
  8. Thank you! I’m a Tahitian dancer, and while I applaud their ability to do a duck walk (I couldn’t do that, even in my younger days), I just couldn’t with that dance. Though, I’m happy that there is some sort of Polynesian on my tv. I highly recommend that people watch a group like Les Grands Ballet de Tahiti if you want to watch some amazing dancers.
  9. “this is my world, and you’re just a squirrel trying to get a nut”.
  10. For some reason, when Ezra danced tonight, I got shades of the late, great Patrick Swayze.
  11. Remember, she works in the city, so she "knows such things". Though, I was very naive back then (only a little naive now), and my knowledge of trans people would have been characters (usually prostitutes) in Law and Order.
  12. I live in Vancouver and I remember seeing them on the news when they got married. As someone whose running goal is to make it around the 2km route where I live, I was super impressed that they could have enough energy to run a marathon and get married.
  13. Great minds must think alike @lookeyloo, as I thought the same thing.
  14. I remember watching the Australian version (Matt Preston, I’ll miss you and your cravat) and during baking challenges you could see a recipe tucked in the corner of the contestant’s workspace. Never bothered me, as I know that baking and cooking are different, and one generally can’t “come up” with the correct baking ingredient measurement/ratios off the top of their head.
  15. New season begins Sept. 18! Looks like there might be some new hosts. https://www.cbc.ca/mediacentre/program/the-great-canadian-baking-show
  16. Canadians will have to wait. Pearson doesn’t air until August. https://www.wnetwork.com/shows/pearson/
  17. I just watched the latest episode, and they mentioned a top 20 that will be going to a final cut. I’m assuming that it’s a top 10 for the show then.
  18. Not just MC, but any cooking show that I see, and it bugs the [insert bad word here] out of me.
  19. That would be known as the HMTB (for twig and berries).
  20. I'm of two minds of the pre-set location. Yes, it rids us of the fun/drama of trucks determining where to park, circling for hours finding a location, getting a poor location, etc. But, with them all in the same selling area, you get to see who is able to get themselves ready to sell quickly, vs. those that seem to take forever during their prep.
  21. For those of us sad to see the race end, the Canadian version begins July 2. I have no idea how American viewers would watch it (though I know that it's possible). The challenges are often more difficult than the TAR, original recipe version. Most of their travel is in Canada, but they do travel internationally too.
  22. Because I'm procrastinating from marking (report card marks are due Friday), I remembered that there was a vegan truck before. It was Season 2 and they were the Seabirds. They were eliminated in episode 4, and I was looking to see if there were any issues with mandatory ingredients (I remember not being annoyed with them like we are with the Sol Collective). In one episode, they had to make a sausage, but they made a vegan sausage. Here, they talk about how they didn't intentionally market their truck as vegan. The truck lasted for a few years, but is now closed.
  23. I get what you’re saying, but I feel that a vegan food truck will always have difficulty, as the producers simply need to choose an animal based ingredient, and they wouldn’t be able to participate. If there’s a vegan truck in the competition, simply choose a plant based ingredient, then all trucks are theoretically on a level playing field—which is how to incorporate the ingredient into a dish. There’s enough entertainment in that.
  24. I was watching Bishme’s Instagram Stories today. He showed his “fooler” collection (because not just the final 3 show their collection), and I really liked a lot of his pieces. I hope this is the beginning of a great career for him. He was also at Sebastian’s viewing party last night, sitting right next to him. I am so glad that Sebastian won. Now to find out if the company selling his capsule collection will ship to Canada!
  25. I've been calling Sebastian Christian the entire show, so I'm not surprised that I did it here. Maybe I'm already projecting that Sebastian will win and have a fabulous career, just like Christian! I wish we could spike the punch. We never get to spike the punch.
