I'm watching Season 10 now and I think the most annoying character ever is actually Neela. I just don't understand why so many characters liked her so much. As a med student she was annoying because she lacked confidence and just seemed incompetent at times, especially in the NICU rotation. In the episode where she had to go into that pressurization chamber with the newborn, she started freaking out and I kept wondering why she was even there if she was going to freak out like this. I don't understand why Gallant and Carter both went to bat for her when she killed that one patient. And I don't understand why Gallant and all of the other men in the ER eventually all thought she was the most desirable woman ever. I think she was way more annoying than Abby ever was and I never saw her appeal.

The Last Thing He Told Me - General Discussion
GiandujaPie replied to CheshireCat's topic in The Last Thing He Told Me
Just binged the whole show this weekend. I agree that if I had had to wait every week for an episode to drop, I don't think this show would have worked as well. It works better as a binge-able show. It was entertaining for the most part, but I did guess Owen's "secret" and reason for running away pretty early, especially after the US Marshall showed up. If Owen had spent all that time putting together a money bag and writing up a will, why wouldn't he have put together a secret letter that would have told Hannah what exactly was going on? I also think that Hannah ultimately did what she did because she didn't want to lose her way of life and identity. She was a successful artist in her 40s and she didn't want to lose that and go into witness protection with Owen. When they told her that she wouldn't be able to do her art, I think that's what pushed her over the edge. Yes, she also brokered that deal with grandpa on behalf of Bailey but she did it for herself too. Hannah decided that she'd rather be a stepmom to a teenager and be able to keep her identity and career as a successful artist than go into hiding with Owen and the teenager and be miserable as a secretary or whatever lame job they put her in. The show never couched it that way, but I see it as she chose herself over Owen. The teenage stepdaughter just turned out to be a bonus, since the girl ended up calling her "mom". I've been to Marin county numerous times and so I enjoyed seeing that they actually filmed there. Jennifer Garner posted on Instagram a few months ago about a restaurant in Sausalito that she loved and I wondered how she knew about it. Now I know! The restaurant was actually referenced a few times in the movie (Poggio) and it does have really good food. -
Luka and Abby were co-dependent and so were Carter and Abby. She seems to thrive in those relationships and the men not so much. I am on episode 6 of Season 10 and so a lot of the Carter/Abby drama is fresh in my mind. I do think Abby was in a tough spot when her brother showed up again just as Carter's grandmother died. I don't think she was wrong in going to get Eric but she definitely should not have brought him to the funeral. It would have been better for her not to go at all. Yes, Carter would have been upset (as he had every right to be) but she also needed to take care of her brother. Unfortunately they had competing priorities and tough choices to make. Real life families make these types of choices all the time.

I agree that ER has aged well, even though it first aired almost 30 years ago. Wow, has it really been that long? The main thing that immediately sets it in the past is the lack of cell phones but they started getting those in the next few seasons although not everyone used them and they were of the old flip style. I got the DVD box set and my husband and I are working our way through it, watching about one episode per night. I watched the show in real time when it was on whereas he did not so he is seeing most of the episodes for the first time. Some of the episodes I don't remember at all, and I always remark to him that I must have gone out that night or had plans with friends which is why I didn't see the episode and back then we didn't have a DVR. Other episodes are very memorable to me and I can remember watching them and which apartment I was in when I watched it or if I watched it with friends. We just started Season 10 which is the start of Neela. She ends up taking over so much of the show the last few seasons but only started in season 10? It seems like she was on for many more seasons.

I did think Bishme's was the worst of the bunch but I'm glad he didn't go home. I like him. I think he interpreted basic as being casual and that was part of his failure. I would have interpreted it as taking a basic outfit, like a t-shirt and jeans, and then using it in a bold way such as a bold print, bold color, or a bold deconstruction of some kind. I'm not artistic or a designer so I have no idea what that would look like but that's what I thought of. In some way, the dress made out of hoodie material was like that but the dress was just so ugly. I didn't think Praje's deserved to be on the bottom. It was an elegant silhouette but his idea of edgy was just different than the judges. I would have also gone with an elegant evening gown silhouette but with edgy details and trim. I'm glad they acknowledged that the ideas of what the terms meant were subjective and the judging took that into account but so many of the challenges are based on terms and parameters that are subject to interpretation too. Count me in among those who didn't understand how Brittney's dress was modest in any way. Having your underwear or bikini bottom covered by a sheer dress is not modest.

For once, the top 3 looks were my top 3 too. I thought Rami's outfit was more functional as a uniform that would fit women of different sizes but I thought Bishme's was very cute and fit his client perfectly. I didn't care for Korto's look as it was too short to be functional IMO and Laurence's just didn't seem appropriate or functional. Kara Saun's was ridiculous and I agree with those who said it looked like a Michael Jackson outfit LOL, however I was ready for Anna to go home. Her behavior at the bar was sketch for a married woman but it was funny watching Gary hit on her. Below Deck is the one reality show that my husband has watched that I haven't (he watches it at the gym) and after seeing this episode of PR, I'm thinking I'm going to have to start watching it!

The Great Food Truck Race - General Discussion
GiandujaPie replied to a topic in The Great Food Truck Race
I'm really glad Easy Vegan won. They consistently put out really good food that happened to be vegan and I liked that they didn't rely on processed, pre-made meat substitutes. They had a carrot walnut meat substittue they said they used in the pink tacos but it looked like something they made themselves, not a big batch of Beyond or Impossible product. One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant that has really good food that just happens to be vegetarian/vegan. One aspect of the show I really dislike though is how the 2 teams at the end open a briefcase and one is empty and one is filled with cash. I feel like it's kind of mean to force one of the teams to open an empty case and see the crestfallen look on their faces. However, it couldn't have happened to a better team. It was pretty funny to see Khanna's faces when they realized they didn't win.- 1.5k replies

The Great Food Truck Race - General Discussion
GiandujaPie replied to a topic in The Great Food Truck Race
This is the argument for having the trucks actually have to move from city to city. They shouldn't be allowed to just park in front of the same place every challenge or every chance they get to pick their own place. I get that in real life that is usually how it happens and food truck owners make deals with other businesses to park, but if we wanted to see real life challenges, we wouldn't have these taste and artificial selling challenges where they get to pad their ledgers. If Khana is allowed to leverage their connection with the Pakistani coffee shop, why wasn't Da Bald Guy allowed to leverage their social media presence and "coconut wireless"? Isn' t that the advantage of being a "pro" in that they have those professional connections? If they have to keep it in California, just have them move around the whole state. It's such a big state with so many different places to go. I'm tired of seeing the same old places. I hope producers not wanting to have a vegan food truck win 2 years in a row isn't going to prevent Easy Vegan from winning. They consistently have really delicious sounding food, much better than Senoreatas ever did. Senoreatas always seemed like they just subbed out meat for plant based meat substitutes, which is ok, but Easy Vegan seems to come up with truly innovative dishes that doesn't rely on something being "meat-like". Although I do have to say their fried mushroom sandwich looked and sounded so yummy, like a vegan version of a fried chicken sandwich. I wanted to try that so badly!- 1.5k replies

The piling on of Anna was unnecessary and mean. I hated her dress and thought for sure she'd be on the bottom but all of the designers making mean comments about her and her dress have made ugly stuff before too and had the judges fawning over them. Fashion is subjective, like all art, and so you just never know what someone will respond to. I appreciated Kara being the adult in the room and telling them to stop with the negativity. Very happy to see Hester gone. Glad it wasn't Fabio or Rami.

The Great Food Truck Race - General Discussion
GiandujaPie replied to a topic in The Great Food Truck Race
So very very unfair that Khana got to bring on a replacement when they voluntarily kicked off one of their own teammates to make themselves into a team of 2. They should have been forced to decide if it was worse to be dealing with a passive aggressive team member or be short staffed. I'm glad they ended up on the bottom 2 and had to sweat it out, despite being given all of the advantages. Their glee at being able to shut down the crepe truck for an hour was disgusting and seemed personally driven as opposed to a business decision which made it seem tacky. I'm really hoping they are eliminated next, although I did like Karl, their new team member. I knew the Jamaican tacos truck was a goner when they couldn't seem to get any sales in front of the dispensary. I'm glad the Crepe truck seems to be doing better. Not sure why they struggle so much. I've had crepes from mobile vendors multiple times and it's always very good. Their dessert crepes would be far and above better than almost any other dessert that the other trucks would sell, so they really need to be pushing those. Or, they could learn from the pairings challenge and start selling combos of a savory crepe with a dessert crepe, but maybe in smaller poritions, to try to get people who want both lunch and dessert to only have to make one purchase. It's too bad that Paisani got eliminated. They seemed like genuinely nice guys who just enjoyed talking smack in a good natured way. For the big ticket challenge, the trucks should have focused on setting up outside of an office or business and convincing a business owner or the manager to buy meals for the entire staff. Paisani set up around college campuses which wouldn't work unless you could convince a group of people to go in one ticket and then pay one person back for their share. Count me as someone else who wants to know how to get in on the cocount wireless! Da Bald Guy always seems to make gourmet upscale versions of Hawaiian food and I would love to try it!- 1.5k replies

Definitely didn't think Mila's or even Laurence's outfits were the worst. I thought Fabio's playing card dress was awful and I was shocked it was safe. Anna's dress didn't look at all like it was constructed from anything unconventional, let alone any toys. I'm surprised they let her skate through. I didn't understand what was so great about Brittney's dress. Her skirt was just bunched up tent material sewed/glued onto muslin. It reminded me of the dress that sent Prajje home in his season. I did think Viktor and Prajje had the best outfits though, and I thought Kayne's outfit was creative. Model looked like Cruella de Vil but with pandas instead of a dalmation coat.

I wouldn't mind Chrissy Teigen if they had to go the way of a celebrity foodie. However, I think Gail is the natural replacement and then they could add another judge. If however Gail wanted to remain just a judge, I think a Melissa King, Kristen Kish or Eric Adjepong would be good, as others have already suggested.

I'm happy Buddha won as he has consistently been the best and won the most challenges. However, there was a moment that I thought maybe Gabri would pull off an upset. The other chef judges there who had no pre-conceived notions of the cheftestants or knew how they had performed in previous challenges were raving about some of Gabri's dishes. Too bad about Sara's liver dish. She should have cut into one earlier to check for doneness so she could make adjustments if needed. I know Padma claims she only recently made the decision to leave Top Chef, but due to her tearing up, I think she already knew that this was going to be her last season. I think Gail is the natural replacement as host unless she doesn't want it.

S01.E07: Best Friends; S01.E08: Caregiving
GiandujaPie replied to T Summer's topic in Fatal Attraction
Hated the ending. Arthur was shown as being very loving and devoted to the 2 most important women in his life - his wife and best friend. When his wife became ill with cancer and wasn't getting any better, he felt helpless to alleviate her suffering. When his best friend was going through all of that trauma with her husband's mistress who killed her mother and tried to kidnap her daughter, this was finally something he could take action on. That's the reason I believe he killed Alex. He was powerless in regards to his wife, so killing Alex made him feel like he could do something. And I think that's ultimately why he paid for Dan's defense and bail. He felt guilty that Dan was getting blamed for something he had done so he was trying to help him get acquitted. I don't understand why Ellen would turn out to be psycho like Alex but if there is a second season, I think I'm out. This was not as entertaining as I thought it would be. -
I don't care if OA is a devout Muslim or not, but why does he have to be? We don't assume all white people are devout Christians so why does a person of Middle Eastern descent/ethnicity have to be a devout Muslim? Couldn't he just celebrate the religious holidays as a cultural family event the way many Americans celebrate supposedly religious holidays like Christmas and Easter as a cultural family event? As to the COTW, not sure why that guy was put undercover in that situation when he was clearly not prepared. Was this really the first time that somebody had offered him a drink in the 3 months he said he was under? Seems like he would have been better suited to cybercrimes which he said he was more of an expert on anyway. I don't think he necessarily had to quit the FBI to adhere to his religion but just have a different assignment.

I agree. Also, unfortunately, many people do run away from halfway houses and so of course they would be low priority. I think Maggie was projecting. She knows if her sister had disappeared from a halfway house, she would have written it off too as just another bad choice that her screw up sister made. Katie's mother did have a right to be angry but it's the system that's messed up. Not enough resources to go around investigating every single reported missing person report so they do have to prioritize based on historical data and unfortunately drug addicts, especially ones living at halfway houses, do run away. I've also seen enough Dateline episodes to know that even suburban housewives who go missing can be written off as a mom who just decided to leave because she had had enough of her boring life. There's just too many people reported missing, too many instances of people running away voluntarily and then coming back for there to be enough resources and time to investigate every single case. And getting a senator's daughter back would be a priority because it could have national security implications. It's not fair but it's just the reality.

Re: Courtney Coco It was pretty obvious that Lace's fiance had something to do with it. There was also something so off about Lace herself too. She was clearly hiding something but I don't think she had anything to do with her sister's death. However, based on what we were told and shown on Dateline though, I don't think I could have voted to convict. There was too much reasonable doubt IMO and not enough evidence. I wanted to know how the original coroner could have stated there was no drugs in her system, no visible marks of trauma and still ruled it a homicide? How many times have we seen on other Dateline episodes where the coroner had more visible signs of trauma on a body and still ruled it undetermined and that later creates reasonable doubt? How could this coroner rule it a homicide when according to them, there was no evidence, other than there was no evidence of anything else that could have killed her? And then how could the state lab later determine on a toxicology test that there was so much drugs in her system? One of those tests is inaccurate or the original coroner never ran an actual test, IMO. I've also never heard of a "traveling prosecutor". Is that for counties/parrishes that are too small to have their own prosecutor?

I agree. So glad the judge denied her request. Make her face up to what she did. She and Chad Daybell are disgusting excuses for humans. I hope they rot in prison. On another topic, did anyone else watch the Laci Peterson episode? I watched the entire 2 hours and honestly I felt it was a waste of time. I don't think there was any new information, other than being able to see Laci's mom and Amber as they look today. I do have to say Amber looks pretty good. The one "journalist" that Keith interviewed who believes Scott is innocent was lame. His "explanations" for the evidence that makes Scott look guilty were stupid. For example, the idea that burglars would kidnap Laci and then hold her for a few days until they saw in the news that Scott had been at the Berkeley Marina at the time so they decided to frame him by dumping her body there. Why would a group of criminals risk driving that far away with a dead body just to frame him? Laughable. Same as the explanation that Scott drove all the way to Berkeley to test out the boat and that the boat was a gift for Laci's stepfather. As the cops mentioned, if he just wanted to test out the boat, there were lots of other places he could have done that. I can't believe it's been 20 years though. To think that Connor would be 20 years old today. :-(

I agree that her story didn't make any sense. Even if he was going to commit suicide in front of his girlfriend, why do it in the manner he did? A person familiar with guns would have shot himself in the head, not on the side of his chest. Brenda seemed obviously clingy and jealous and she was probably mad that he was breaking up with her. However, I agree that the police so f'ed up the crime scene and did such shoddy police work that there probably wasn't going to be a way to prosecute.

When we watch L&O, this is what bugs my husband the attorney the most. Sometimes he'll just say that they must do things differently in NY but other times, it really bugs him. LOL

Add me to those who didn't understand Greg's role. I understand he was brought in as a fill-in, but for who? Catherine? Is he a current employee who switched shifts? Or was he brought in off the street? I wish we could have found out about what he's been doing since the original CSI ended. Did he stay as a CSI and is now a supervisor? I was hoping we would find out that he had left CSI and found a niche as a writer/podcaster for old Las Vegas history and that he was brought in as an expert because there was a case related to that. One thing I always found frustrating about CSI was that no one ever seemed to be moving forward and onward, other than Sara and Grissom. We didn't need to have lots of personal drama about the characters, but it would have been nice if Nick or Greg had gotten married or gotten a steady love interest in the last few years. The characters by then were in their mid-30s/early 40s and were essentially the same people they were at the beginning of the series. It would have been interesting to see that Greg had moved forward with his life.

I liked it. I felt it made just enough sense if you didn't overthink it and it felt like the writers actually had a plan from the beginning of how they were going to end up at the end of the season. (Although LOL at the description of the plot being the plot from Terminator.) it didn't seem like they were making stuff up as they went along, like some other time travel sci=-fi shows (I'm looking at you, La Brea!). I wonder if the scenes of Ben and Martinez going back to previous leaps and fighting were filmed at the same time that the episode was filmed (which would mean the writers always knew what they were going to do) or if they had to go back and re-create those sets. I'm thinking it had to be the former as it would be hard to re-create the sets. However, if the writers had wanted to keep the story a secret, even from the actors, it would be the latter. It was brutal watching Ben get beat by Martinez, but it wouldn't have made sense for Ben to be a good fighter as he was a scientist. I too was kinda hoping that there would be a surprise during the episode of Sam showing up and maybe that's what will happen next season as they purposely didn't show what happened at the end. I'm looking forward to next season!

I didn't get this episode. Was Muncy's brother actually involved in the operation? I'm also not sure what the scheme was. So some guy "orders" a girl, and somehow she miraculously ends up at that bar so that bartender can drug her with the limes. What if she doesn't order a tequila shot with a lime chaser? What if she doesn't suck the lime? And then after she starts to feel woozy, she goes to the bathroom and they kidnap her and take her to the hotel where she gets raped. What if the girl doesn't go to the bathroom? What if her friends take her home instead? In the case of the redhead, she had friends and an ex-husband in the bar. Why didn't they go looking for her? And was that redhead "ordered" specifically, or was she just the only redhead in the bar that fit the "order" by the Canadians? I also didn't understand why everyone assumed Muncy's brother was in on the whole thing simply because he was friends with the bartender. I don't dislike any of the new detectives, but don't like how the whole episode only involved them and there was no Finn or Carisi. The cost-cutting measures for this show are so obvious.

Price should have never been allowed to prosecute this case and frankly the entire prosecution and trial should have been handed off to the AG's office, another county or a special counsel. The victim, the person who found the victim, the defendant and the judge were all part of the same system and all had relationships with the victim, the defendant and/or both. It should have been handed off. to a neutral third party. It's ridiculous that in NY the judge gets to rule on whether he should recuse himself or not. If he hasn't already recused himself, you really think they will admit they are biased? As we've seen in L&O, either the judge never recuses themselves or they err too much on the side of caution and recuse themselves for political reasons that have nothing to do with their actual bias or the case. In California, according to my husband who is an attorney, you can get a one-time pass to move a case from one particular judge. You don't actually have to cite a reason or have a hearing, you just file a 170.6 motion. Also, I agree with those who say that the doorman was not exculpatory. The defense could have found him themselves and found the CCTV footage if they thought it would help the defendant. They knew it would look bad for him that he lied about his alibi and went to see the victim even after she broke up with him. If they thought it would help his case they would have looked it for themselves. And I agree with everyone who says it's ridiculous that McCoy didn't know the extent of Price's involvement. It would have been big news and it's completely incompetent that McCoy wouldn't have known.

Lots of problems with this episode, many already pointed out by others. I thought the knife should have included and even if it were tossed based on that one faulty search warrant, I too was waiting for Price to argue inevitable discovery. They had the defendant's name, and would have done more investigation that would have led to another search warrant which would have led to the discovery of the knife because the defendant clearly wasn't going to get rid of it. The confidential source was also not handled properly. I can go along with the journalist refusing to divulge the confidential source's name, but they should have then asked her how she verified the source's story and then through that, maybe would have cme up with more evidence of wrongdoing and other witnesses who may have overheard that same conversation. Or are they saying the journalist just took the confidential source at their word? The journalist must have done more investigating to verify and corroborate the source's story. And finally, I thought it was disgusting that the Jewish assult victim was just discarded. Where was her justice? Surely there had to be a way around using that Nazi witness. If he saw the defendant, maybe others did too. Just disappointing all around.
