  1. This episode was excruciating to watch. I think Alex became more unlikable than Mitch. Her complete meltdown at what may be in Maggie's book is so over the top. Like others have said, just DENY DENY DENY. If Mitch didn't talk, then who actually knows for sure other than them? What a waste to put Mitch on a redemption arc just to have him commit suicide. What a waste of time this storyline was. If they wanted to bring Covid to the studio, they could have just had Daniel come down with it or infect someone after he came back from China. It's like that storyline never happened now.
  2. On the last season of The Resident, they started using an opening credits sequence that seemed to mimic the ER opening credits. I liked The Resident the first few seasons but it really went downhill the last 2 seasons. I don't think the time jump over Covid did them any good, especially since the pandemic wasn't really over when they did it, and then the time jump to age Conrad/Nic's daughter messed up the timelines of all the characters. I wonder how ER would have handled the pandemic if it were still on or if something like Covid had happened in the 90s/early 2000s.
  3. I just watched the episode where Neela tried to get a job at a coffee shop, retail store (because she liked the clothes LOL), and even sat down with an employment agency where she admitted she had no skills in anything other than medical stuff other than working at her family restaurant and she was never going to do restaurant work again. Seemed a little high and mighty for someone who claimed to be willing to do anything for a job. Why couldn't she work at a restaurant? What did she think she was going to do at the coffee shop that was really all that different than a restaurant job? And the way she completely downplayed her academic skills was pathetic. With her academic background, she should have tried getting a job at a library or as a substitute teacher. And if she really wanted to do retail, did she try a bookstore? I get that we didn't see all of the places she may have tried to apply, and this storyline seemed to be played for laughs, but she's so annoying.
  4. In Neela's mind, I'm sure she thought a retail or coffee shop job would be "fun" and easy. How hard can it be to use a cash register or serve coffee? After all, she was a customer of those establishments and she saw how "easy" those jobs are. <sarcasm> However, being a janitor at a hospital, where she was intimately familiar with how disgusting it could get, I would be willing to bet she'd think she was above that.
  5. Wasn't the point of showing Elizabeth spatting with Mark once Ella was born to show that even accomplished career women like Elizabeth don't have it together all the time either? I think it was a way to show she was far from perfect and not immune to the pressures of having a baby and a career. And it also highlighted how Mark at times still felt his career was more important than his wife's, even with wife #2, who was equally if not more accomplished than he was. At least with Jen, you could see how it was difficult for him to adjust from her being stay at home mom and law student to a successful woman with a career. My very unpopular opinion is that I do like Abby, way more than I ever liked Neela, especially now that I'm older. Neela just comes across as whiny and petulant and I've never ever seen the appeal of her. I'm watching the show with my husband now, and he never watched it back in the day, and he can't see how Neela becomes successful after the ridiculous Season 11 storyline of her quitting her internship. When she goes back to the hospital and begs Kerry for a job, any job, he was incredulous, like what type of job does she think she should get? I wish Kerry had offered her a job as a janitor and see if she was really that desperate.
  6. Well Weaver got the last laugh by using his endowment to the hospital to fund a LGBTQ health center or something like that. Romano was a d**k but I was a little surprised that everyone went out of their way to avoid going to his memorial at the hospital. It wouldn't have cost them anything to go, but I guess it showed how much he was disliked that no one would just take a few minutes to go up to the chapel while at work.
  7. Very late to this, but just watching it now. I finished Season 1 and am starting Season 2. Since we are now 3+ years removed from the real-life circumstances of this show, it is a little funny to watch how much they downplay Covid and basically treat Daniel as Chicken Little in regards to his warnings about it, even though he was quarantined for 2 weeks. I remember the optimism of NYE 2019, not knowing what 2020 was going to end up like. And I also remember having the same attitude of many on the show, downplaying how serious Covid was. I think if I had watched this at the time it originally aired, I would not have found it as amusing as I do now, because it was still too close. But it is kind of funny to watch it now, especially as so many shows just pretend like Covid never happened. I don't want it in my face all the time, but it would be more realistic if more shows would at least acknowledge that it happened and still has current repercussions. I don't know why Chip agreed to come back! He seemed like he was happy with his new fiancee. And then suddenly we see him back in NYC with Alex without her. I really hope that he had a discussion with her and she either agreed with his decision or that she dumped him when he decided to come back. I'm not sure why we need a Mitch redemption story but I'm enjoying the scenery of Italy and I too am anticipating some big Covid storyline to come out of the location. On to the rest of the season!
  8. I guess we all just have different opinions about who is the most annoying character. I know a lot of people here think it is Abby but mine is definitely Neela. I'm watching the episodes now where Kerry is battling Sandy's family for custody of baby Henry and it's so sad. She lost her spouse and now has to contend with fighting with the family over the baby. The show definitely showed multiple sides of Kerry. Yes, she was a hard-ass at work, but she was also very much relatable as a person outside of work. I did appreciate the scenes of Elizabeth reaching out to Kerry as someone who has also lost a spouse. It's heartbreaking.
  9. The sexual assault scene was definitely uncomfortable to watch but also rang very true and I think most women can relate to having been in a situation like that. The best defense you can give Mitch is that he misread Hannah's body language but it seemed pretty obvious that she was not into it at all. I watched this with my husband who is around the same age/generation as Mitch, and even he could read Hannah's non-verbal cues that she didn't want to engage. So Mitch either has the worst body language skills ever, or he deliberately misread them and hoped she would just get over it. Given that he didn't kick Hannah out of bed after the deed, I'm inclined to believe it's a little of both and that he just assumes that every woman, especially on the show, would want to sleep with him and so it never occurred to him that it was not consensual. I felt bad for her after she was offered the promotion. Women are always in a rough spot in these situations. The consequences of turning it down and pressing forward with the accusation is almost always worse than trying to get something tangible for the trauma you've just been through.
  10. I feel like with Abby and Sam, not everybody liked them and they were shown to be off-putting or not as likable and to have flaws. With Neela, even with her flaws, it always seemed like we were supposed to feel sorry for her and every single male doctor that came into contact with her just thought she was the most beautiful and wonderful person and doctor ever. Except for Morris who never hooked up with her, as far as I can remember. Wasn't there a time when John Stamos, Shane West, Dubenko and that British doctor in the final season, were all in love with her after Gallant died? She's cute but not all that. Plus she was wishy washy and lacked self-confidence until suddenly she became the best ever doctor/surgeon they'd ever had. 🙄
  11. I'm watching Season 10 now and I think the most annoying character ever is actually Neela. I just don't understand why so many characters liked her so much. As a med student she was annoying because she lacked confidence and just seemed incompetent at times, especially in the NICU rotation. In the episode where she had to go into that pressurization chamber with the newborn, she started freaking out and I kept wondering why she was even there if she was going to freak out like this. I don't understand why Gallant and Carter both went to bat for her when she killed that one patient. And I don't understand why Gallant and all of the other men in the ER eventually all thought she was the most desirable woman ever. I think she was way more annoying than Abby ever was and I never saw her appeal.
  12. Just binged the whole show this weekend. I agree that if I had had to wait every week for an episode to drop, I don't think this show would have worked as well. It works better as a binge-able show. It was entertaining for the most part, but I did guess Owen's "secret" and reason for running away pretty early, especially after the US Marshall showed up. If Owen had spent all that time putting together a money bag and writing up a will, why wouldn't he have put together a secret letter that would have told Hannah what exactly was going on? I also think that Hannah ultimately did what she did because she didn't want to lose her way of life and identity. She was a successful artist in her 40s and she didn't want to lose that and go into witness protection with Owen. When they told her that she wouldn't be able to do her art, I think that's what pushed her over the edge. Yes, she also brokered that deal with grandpa on behalf of Bailey but she did it for herself too. Hannah decided that she'd rather be a stepmom to a teenager and be able to keep her identity and career as a successful artist than go into hiding with Owen and the teenager and be miserable as a secretary or whatever lame job they put her in. The show never couched it that way, but I see it as she chose herself over Owen. The teenage stepdaughter just turned out to be a bonus, since the girl ended up calling her "mom". I've been to Marin county numerous times and so I enjoyed seeing that they actually filmed there. Jennifer Garner posted on Instagram a few months ago about a restaurant in Sausalito that she loved and I wondered how she knew about it. Now I know! The restaurant was actually referenced a few times in the movie (Poggio) and it does have really good food.
  13. Luka and Abby were co-dependent and so were Carter and Abby. She seems to thrive in those relationships and the men not so much. I am on episode 6 of Season 10 and so a lot of the Carter/Abby drama is fresh in my mind. I do think Abby was in a tough spot when her brother showed up again just as Carter's grandmother died. I don't think she was wrong in going to get Eric but she definitely should not have brought him to the funeral. It would have been better for her not to go at all. Yes, Carter would have been upset (as he had every right to be) but she also needed to take care of her brother. Unfortunately they had competing priorities and tough choices to make. Real life families make these types of choices all the time.
  14. I agree that ER has aged well, even though it first aired almost 30 years ago. Wow, has it really been that long? The main thing that immediately sets it in the past is the lack of cell phones but they started getting those in the next few seasons although not everyone used them and they were of the old flip style. I got the DVD box set and my husband and I are working our way through it, watching about one episode per night. I watched the show in real time when it was on whereas he did not so he is seeing most of the episodes for the first time. Some of the episodes I don't remember at all, and I always remark to him that I must have gone out that night or had plans with friends which is why I didn't see the episode and back then we didn't have a DVR. Other episodes are very memorable to me and I can remember watching them and which apartment I was in when I watched it or if I watched it with friends. We just started Season 10 which is the start of Neela. She ends up taking over so much of the show the last few seasons but only started in season 10? It seems like she was on for many more seasons.
  15. I did think Bishme's was the worst of the bunch but I'm glad he didn't go home. I like him. I think he interpreted basic as being casual and that was part of his failure. I would have interpreted it as taking a basic outfit, like a t-shirt and jeans, and then using it in a bold way such as a bold print, bold color, or a bold deconstruction of some kind. I'm not artistic or a designer so I have no idea what that would look like but that's what I thought of. In some way, the dress made out of hoodie material was like that but the dress was just so ugly. I didn't think Praje's deserved to be on the bottom. It was an elegant silhouette but his idea of edgy was just different than the judges. I would have also gone with an elegant evening gown silhouette but with edgy details and trim. I'm glad they acknowledged that the ideas of what the terms meant were subjective and the judging took that into account but so many of the challenges are based on terms and parameters that are subject to interpretation too. Count me in among those who didn't understand how Brittney's dress was modest in any way. Having your underwear or bikini bottom covered by a sheer dress is not modest.
  16. For once, the top 3 looks were my top 3 too. I thought Rami's outfit was more functional as a uniform that would fit women of different sizes but I thought Bishme's was very cute and fit his client perfectly. I didn't care for Korto's look as it was too short to be functional IMO and Laurence's just didn't seem appropriate or functional. Kara Saun's was ridiculous and I agree with those who said it looked like a Michael Jackson outfit LOL, however I was ready for Anna to go home. Her behavior at the bar was sketch for a married woman but it was funny watching Gary hit on her. Below Deck is the one reality show that my husband has watched that I haven't (he watches it at the gym) and after seeing this episode of PR, I'm thinking I'm going to have to start watching it!
  17. I'm really glad Easy Vegan won. They consistently put out really good food that happened to be vegan and I liked that they didn't rely on processed, pre-made meat substitutes. They had a carrot walnut meat substittue they said they used in the pink tacos but it looked like something they made themselves, not a big batch of Beyond or Impossible product. One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant that has really good food that just happens to be vegetarian/vegan. One aspect of the show I really dislike though is how the 2 teams at the end open a briefcase and one is empty and one is filled with cash. I feel like it's kind of mean to force one of the teams to open an empty case and see the crestfallen look on their faces. However, it couldn't have happened to a better team. It was pretty funny to see Khanna's faces when they realized they didn't win.
  18. This is the argument for having the trucks actually have to move from city to city. They shouldn't be allowed to just park in front of the same place every challenge or every chance they get to pick their own place. I get that in real life that is usually how it happens and food truck owners make deals with other businesses to park, but if we wanted to see real life challenges, we wouldn't have these taste and artificial selling challenges where they get to pad their ledgers. If Khana is allowed to leverage their connection with the Pakistani coffee shop, why wasn't Da Bald Guy allowed to leverage their social media presence and "coconut wireless"? Isn' t that the advantage of being a "pro" in that they have those professional connections? If they have to keep it in California, just have them move around the whole state. It's such a big state with so many different places to go. I'm tired of seeing the same old places. I hope producers not wanting to have a vegan food truck win 2 years in a row isn't going to prevent Easy Vegan from winning. They consistently have really delicious sounding food, much better than Senoreatas ever did. Senoreatas always seemed like they just subbed out meat for plant based meat substitutes, which is ok, but Easy Vegan seems to come up with truly innovative dishes that doesn't rely on something being "meat-like". Although I do have to say their fried mushroom sandwich looked and sounded so yummy, like a vegan version of a fried chicken sandwich. I wanted to try that so badly!
  19. The piling on of Anna was unnecessary and mean. I hated her dress and thought for sure she'd be on the bottom but all of the designers making mean comments about her and her dress have made ugly stuff before too and had the judges fawning over them. Fashion is subjective, like all art, and so you just never know what someone will respond to. I appreciated Kara being the adult in the room and telling them to stop with the negativity. Very happy to see Hester gone. Glad it wasn't Fabio or Rami.
  20. So very very unfair that Khana got to bring on a replacement when they voluntarily kicked off one of their own teammates to make themselves into a team of 2. They should have been forced to decide if it was worse to be dealing with a passive aggressive team member or be short staffed. I'm glad they ended up on the bottom 2 and had to sweat it out, despite being given all of the advantages. Their glee at being able to shut down the crepe truck for an hour was disgusting and seemed personally driven as opposed to a business decision which made it seem tacky. I'm really hoping they are eliminated next, although I did like Karl, their new team member. I knew the Jamaican tacos truck was a goner when they couldn't seem to get any sales in front of the dispensary. I'm glad the Crepe truck seems to be doing better. Not sure why they struggle so much. I've had crepes from mobile vendors multiple times and it's always very good. Their dessert crepes would be far and above better than almost any other dessert that the other trucks would sell, so they really need to be pushing those. Or, they could learn from the pairings challenge and start selling combos of a savory crepe with a dessert crepe, but maybe in smaller poritions, to try to get people who want both lunch and dessert to only have to make one purchase. It's too bad that Paisani got eliminated. They seemed like genuinely nice guys who just enjoyed talking smack in a good natured way. For the big ticket challenge, the trucks should have focused on setting up outside of an office or business and convincing a business owner or the manager to buy meals for the entire staff. Paisani set up around college campuses which wouldn't work unless you could convince a group of people to go in one ticket and then pay one person back for their share. Count me as someone else who wants to know how to get in on the cocount wireless! Da Bald Guy always seems to make gourmet upscale versions of Hawaiian food and I would love to try it!
  21. Definitely didn't think Mila's or even Laurence's outfits were the worst. I thought Fabio's playing card dress was awful and I was shocked it was safe. Anna's dress didn't look at all like it was constructed from anything unconventional, let alone any toys. I'm surprised they let her skate through. I didn't understand what was so great about Brittney's dress. Her skirt was just bunched up tent material sewed/glued onto muslin. It reminded me of the dress that sent Prajje home in his season. I did think Viktor and Prajje had the best outfits though, and I thought Kayne's outfit was creative. Model looked like Cruella de Vil but with pandas instead of a dalmation coat.
  22. I wouldn't mind Chrissy Teigen if they had to go the way of a celebrity foodie. However, I think Gail is the natural replacement and then they could add another judge. If however Gail wanted to remain just a judge, I think a Melissa King, Kristen Kish or Eric Adjepong would be good, as others have already suggested.
  23. I'm happy Buddha won as he has consistently been the best and won the most challenges. However, there was a moment that I thought maybe Gabri would pull off an upset. The other chef judges there who had no pre-conceived notions of the cheftestants or knew how they had performed in previous challenges were raving about some of Gabri's dishes. Too bad about Sara's liver dish. She should have cut into one earlier to check for doneness so she could make adjustments if needed. I know Padma claims she only recently made the decision to leave Top Chef, but due to her tearing up, I think she already knew that this was going to be her last season. I think Gail is the natural replacement as host unless she doesn't want it.
  24. Hated the ending. Arthur was shown as being very loving and devoted to the 2 most important women in his life - his wife and best friend. When his wife became ill with cancer and wasn't getting any better, he felt helpless to alleviate her suffering. When his best friend was going through all of that trauma with her husband's mistress who killed her mother and tried to kidnap her daughter, this was finally something he could take action on. That's the reason I believe he killed Alex. He was powerless in regards to his wife, so killing Alex made him feel like he could do something. And I think that's ultimately why he paid for Dan's defense and bail. He felt guilty that Dan was getting blamed for something he had done so he was trying to help him get acquitted. I don't understand why Ellen would turn out to be psycho like Alex but if there is a second season, I think I'm out. This was not as entertaining as I thought it would be.
  25. I don't care if OA is a devout Muslim or not, but why does he have to be? We don't assume all white people are devout Christians so why does a person of Middle Eastern descent/ethnicity have to be a devout Muslim? Couldn't he just celebrate the religious holidays as a cultural family event the way many Americans celebrate supposedly religious holidays like Christmas and Easter as a cultural family event? As to the COTW, not sure why that guy was put undercover in that situation when he was clearly not prepared. Was this really the first time that somebody had offered him a drink in the 3 months he said he was under? Seems like he would have been better suited to cybercrimes which he said he was more of an expert on anyway. I don't think he necessarily had to quit the FBI to adhere to his religion but just have a different assignment.
