  1. i agree, I'm so sick and tired of "influencers" and hearing about internet personalities and their "content" which is nothing more than stupid pranks. I wish the mainstream media would stop covering these people and their stupid stunts which are now mostly generated to gin up outrage. The judge's rulings made no sense. At one point, I started wondering if she'd been bribed by the "content/house manager" as her rulings seemed so obviously biased in his favor. At the end when Price showed the defense attorney the contracts that the girl in the wheelchair and others signed, she looked like she had never seen them before. Really??? Ugh.
  2. Count me as another one who didn't understand this. Also, why do these shows love doing story arcs where some bureaucrat is trying to break up the team for some nefarious or ridiculous reason? Criminal Minds used to do it every few years it seems. Why can't these teams just do their work and like in real life, people eventually leave or promote out on their own accord? Why must it always be because some bureaucrat has it out for them?
  3. I thought this was a weak episode. The husband/wife criminal pair were clearly not hardened criminals, only had 1 gun each and were vastly outnumbered by the hostages. I think the group of hostages could have and should have rushed the pair and been able to incapacitate them enough to stop them. Or at least Kelly had a chance to grab the gun from the woman and hold the gun to her to try to get leverage on her husband to give up. Also, once the wife shot the bank manager, why did Isabel not give the order to go in? Again, they were not hardened criminals and likely would have given up right away. They seemed to already believe that it was hopeless. Just frustrating all around. I had zero sympathy for them and they were lucky the kidnappers were so incompetent. I'm glad that Jubal walked past the bar and went to the AA meeting instead. I thought it was pretty rich of Maggie to accuse Jubal of sidestepping her questions when she did the same thing to OA a few weeks ago regarding her meds.
  4. Most of my thoughts about the Birchview drive case have already been mentioned. However, my husband, (who is an attorney), said he felt there was reasonable doubt based on statements from the defense attorney about the DNA found in 6 different places at the crime scene. I kind of did too, and thought it was weird that Dateline and the prosecutor did not ever bring that up. So I googled it this morning, and it did come up at trial and apparently the prosecution argued that the DNA technology was so advanced that even a miniscule amount could show up on testing these days. That's a little problematic to admit, IMO. I do think Rick obviously did it, for all of the reasons others have already mentioned, but that could be an issue. Every episode also seems to mention how wonderful the victim was, how they were such a great friend/neighbor/sister/mom who everyone just loved. Have we ever had a victim that was described as cranky, grumpy, exuded negative energy, etc...? LOL Or every beginning of the episode they always describe the marriage as "perfect" and then we find out that someone was cheating. It's pretty formulaic at this point. But we can't stop watching! LOL
  5. Wow the timing on this one is impeccable. I don't think there is any reason to pull it, but have we heard that they might?
  6. I thought Raines was believable as the wheelman until he suddenly became the tech expert too. To me, that would have been a big red flag if I were the ringleader. I would have immediately suspected that he was the mole.
  7. We watched Haul Out the Holly last night and loved it! It was genuinely funny and all of the actors went all in on the goofiness. Lacey Chabert was perfect for the lead and I loved all of the actors who played her neighbors and goofy neighbors. Wes Brown was so charming but my favorite was in the beginning of the movie when they were showing the flashback and the little kids who played them as children were adorable! I wish they had shown one more flashback. I hope they show this movie every year. It is a nice break from the more serious and earnest romantic movies. I'm looking forward to trying to catch Hannukah on Rye sometime this weekend since so many people here have raved about it!
  8. Watched the Tale of Two Christmases. I thought it would be more of a What If type of scenario but it seems like it turned out she did actually miss her Christmas Eve flight and she dreamed all that happened if she had made her Christmas Eve flight back home. It was a little confusing to follow. I didn't particularly care for the 2 potential male love interests but I did like the female lead. I haven't seen her in anything before but I thought she was cute and quirky in a good and believable way.
  9. I really liked the Kelsey Grammer "12 Days of Christmas Eve" movie. It started off as really goofy but I liked how at the end, it looked like he really had learned his lesson. When he was given that one last chance to make things right but with no guarantee that he would live, he took it and you could see he genuinely just wanted to enjoy one last day with his daughter and granddaughter. I loved how gung-ho he was about going back and doing the day over every time he failed. He would "die", end back with Santa and enthusiastically blow out the candle to go back to try something new. I liked that this movie wasn't about a romance but about a man who just needed a chance to re-connect with his family.
  10. My husband has this type of colorblindness where he can't see colors at all. What I found funny about this movie was that the teachers' clothes were all gray. When they showed his closet, all of this shirts and sweaters were gray. My husband wears a suit for work but he has just learned to have 3 basic suits, a few basic colors for shirts and has learned which ties go with which shirt. Of course he asks me if things match, but mostly he's able to figure things out by only having basics. I did think the mom/optometrist over-stepped by pushing the issue of his colorblindness. He's clearly learned to adjust and live with it.
  11. Glad Scola didn't sign the document. My husband said he wouldn't have signed either. I do think it was a test from Nina to see how committed Scola was. She didn't seem super upset when he wouldn't sign and she was happy to share that she was having a boy and invited him to dinner. They were dating when she got pregnant, even if it was very casual, but they had a relationship. I hope that now that they are no longer working together that maybe they will attempt a real relationship. Case of the week was boring. The father was a real jerk and I recognized the actor from Modern Family. I couldn't believe he didn't have a problem with putting his son in danger and allowing the kid to see him get gunned down. I hope the kid turns out ok. Maybe Scola can mentor him or something.
  12. Couldn't even make it through the first episode. None of the characters are even remotely appealing. I can't imagine that Montana residents like the way their state is portrayed here. The Montana in this show doesn't even resemble the Montana in Big Sky. I don't think the characters of Big Sky would be raging liberals or progressives, but surely they wouldn't stand for such a corrupt family/dynasty being in charge of the state purely for their own financial gain. The Montana portrayed in this show is just a red state fantasy. How is John Dutton going to be able to enforce any of the laws against out-of-staters? Especially the sales tax one? If that is addressed, I apologize. Like I said, I never finished watching this episode. It's just gotten too ridiculous for me. Not even the scenery porn and being a fan of Kevin Costner from way back could keep me around.
  13. Surprised no one has posted about this yet. The Boy in the Box has been identified. https://people.com/crime/philadelphias-boy-in-the-box-identified-after-65-years/ Danny Pino also tweeted about it. https://twitter.com/TheDannyPino/status/1601257654890164224?cxt=HHwWgMDTmc7W57gsAAAA So far, they're not giving more information about what the circumstances are, but he has a name and his family has been identified and notified.
  14. Here to make a comment about an old episode that aired this weekend. it was supposed to be something about the holidays and it featured Rocco DiSpirto, Marc Murphy, Scott Conant and Jonathan Waxman. By the end of the episode, almost all of them had sweat stains all over their shirts with the worst being Rocco whose shirt looked positively WET, especially the back. it was pretty disgusting. But what was interesting was in their sit-down talking heads, their shirts were back to being dry but their comments made it sound as if they were being interviewed after they had all cooked and tasted each other's food. I just don't understand why if they insist on cooking outdoors, especially during the summer or a heat wave, they don't have fans or extra shirts for them to change into. I
  15. The safari dentist was beyond disgusting. You could just tell he was an a-hole and d-bag. His whole business seemed shady and I hope the IRS audited them. It's one thing to offer a discount to patients who have no insurance, but to give a discount for paying in actual cash? And that mistress was annoying. Not sure why the dentist was so enamored with her. She was a single mom, older, no discernible skills other than as a dental hygenist. If I had been the dentist, I would have called her bluff when she issued the ultimatum. Who else was she going to find that would provide her with that cushy lifestyle? I couldn't believe when she was begging for him to get his kids to back off so that she would be able to provide a living for herself. Maybe she should have thought of that before doing what she did. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that the dentist bribed some local officials to mark the case as accidental in Africa. It seemed like they were interested in investigating and then abruptly shut down the case as an accident. My husband, who is a lawyer, said he thought that should have been enough for the defense to point to reasonable doubt. However, because the dentist likely insisted on testiying in his own defense, he probably came off as unlikable and the jury convicted him.
  16. I thought AJ had hired a nanny for Padma and the babies. I'm beyond tired of Padma. I hope she just ran off and not that something bad happened to her as I don't think I could handle watching everyone cry about her. Whatever happened to Billie and that new doctor? I thought they were supposed to be dating. I didn't realize until today that Cade was not in the episode and I didn't miss her at all.
  17. The Devil's Bathtub I know it was a repeat but what a truly appalling crime. I just can't believe 2 kids would willingly go along with killing their father and then destroying his body and the evidence. I read a little more about the crime after watching the episode and I see that the older son is claiming there was a bad relationship and even some abuse and I think Laura tried to argue to bring abuse allegations during the trial but it was denied by the judge. However, I don't believe there was any abuse and they just made it up. Even when they interviewed the "best friend"/Laura's boyfriend, PJ Tucci, he never mentioned it and kept saying what great people Craig and Laura were. I honestly don't know why he and all of the other lawyers kept saying there was no evidence. Wasn't there DNA found on the bloody clothes that the 2 boys were trying to get rid of? And yes, PJ gave a plausible explanation for why he needed those items that they bought at Walmart, but that's a hella coincidence that those same items were then used and found at the crime scene. If those items had not been found at the crime scene, and they only had surveillance video showing them buying that stuff, I could give them that benefit of the doubt but this was beyond belief. Without evidence of abuse, it's just unbelievable to me that 2 sons could do this to their own father.
  18. Wow, lots of crazy stuff in that article! I cannot believe the incompetence of the medical examiner and the police! I wish Andrea had covered Bill's injuries and death more because I really can't believe that it was not ruled a homicide or suspicious death! I really think you could make a case that the other 2 murders would not have happened if Bill's death had been properly investigated. Even if they wouldn't have proven foul play in Bill's death, it might have made Melissa and her husband think twice about murdering Bridget and Caleb. I mean, you could see why they might have thought they could get away with it, because they had! Unbelievable that Caleb only served 3 months for that horrific DUI. And also unbelievable that Bill and Bridget were able to just substitute their names into the custody arrangement between Caleb and Melissa when Caleb went to prison. My husband, who is an attorney and has handled custody cases, says it would never happen in California. I do wonder why Caleb's family ultimately couldn't get custody of those 2 kids and they went to the maternal side. There was another Dateline recently where it was the same thing - the kids ultimately went to live with the side of the family of the parent who had killed the other parent.
  19. I really like this show and can't believe we have to wait almost 3 months for it to start again! Ridiculous. I hate it when networks do this. By the time it starts back up again, it'll be hard to remember what previously happened. While I'm not disagreeing with the concept that white women get disproportionately more media coverage when they go missing, in this very particular case, the main reason this one got so much attention is because it involved the very important cruise industry and the very public way she fell off the boat. I would bet that anyone who fell off a cruise boat while livestreaming would have gotten a ton of attention too. Heck, this past week, we got a ton of coverage about some guy who fell off a cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico and he wasn't posting about it at the time he fell. Also, I'm sorry but acting like there was any chance that this woman would have survived more than a couple hours in the frigid waters of Alaska is ridiculous. The man who fell of the boat in the Gulf of Mexico was lucky he survived and their waters are nowhere near as cold as Alaska, even in the summer. The scandal, IMO, is not that the media covered this annoying white woman's disappearance, but the fact that the cruise ship got away with not installing security features and that they are not contributing to the cost of the search and recovery operations. I'm glad that Eileen is more interested the pilot/poet guy and I'm glad to see her enjoy being a mentor to these younger reporters despite saying saying she didn't want to be one.
  20. I agree with most of what has already been said about the episode regarding Jill Su and her family. When I saw the video of Justin acting completely OTT during his interrogation, I could understand why the police was suspicious of him but he should have asked for a lawyer once he realized he was a suspect. Also, I'm not sure why the father didn't call a lawyer for him since he was in the other room and could hear a lot that was going on. I wish we could have gotten an update on what Justin ultimately did with his life but I can understand him wanting some privacy.
  21. Not sure why The Resident is being so overtly political this season but it's a little annoying. First of all, the actor playing the newly elected governor looks just like their current governor, but he's not newly elected, he was just re-elected. Second of all, that Medicare fraud issue seems to be mirroring Rick Scott, the former governor of Florida but current Florida senator. And when they mentioned that public hospitals should just bill Medicaid, why did no one mention that Georgia is one of the states that refused to expand Medicaid under the ACA and likely many of patients that come through their ER and hospital wouldn't be on it if they had no health insurance? I'm glad that the show is finally showing Billie going out and having fun WITHOUT Conrad drama or the drama with her son. She's a beautiful and successful woman, surely there would be plenty of men who would be interested in her. I like Ian Anthony Dale, and he's perfect as a charming doctor, but it was a little surprising that there was no real intro to his character.
  22. Just getting around to watching this one and I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that Billie was wearing a really dowdy and matronly dress. I didn't know about the actress just having a baby, but still seems like they could have dressed her better. She's a beautiful woman, and there was no reason for her to look like the grandmother of the bride. Also, I did wonder why Kit's children were never shown or at least mentioned.
  23. I agree. Lucy also didn't tell Whistler that she was looking for a new apartment. When Whistler found out, you could tell she desperately wanted to tell Lucy she could just move in with her but because Lucy didn't tell her, she assumed Lucy didn't want to move in with her and that's why she went the rational route. I love them together, I think they are cute and I hope they don't have them keep having dumb fights based on miscommunication.
  24. I do think Cindy likely was the culprit but based on the evidence that Dateline showed the evidence was pretty paltry. I think she got convicted because she just wasn't a likable person because it did seem like there were deficits in the investigation and there were some other possible culprits to give the jury reasonable doubt if they had wanted to. I thought it was funny how they kept playing up the Eddie Munster connection when it was a tenous connection at best.
  25. So we are to believe that Reyes was aware of all that awful abuse going on in that foster home, and even after he aged out and became a cop, he never tried to drop any hints to a social worker or SVU that they might want to investigate this foster parent?
