  1. Beth's long absence from dance tells me that the writers were lazy and/or not thinking ahead. Starting early in this season or in previous seasons, they could have had occasional lines mentioning Beth taking dance classes or teaching dance at an after school program. Same for Rebecca and Kate. As far as we knew, they both went years without singing. But a few lines of dialog could have put some music in those years. One of my major pet peeves on TV is writers leaving gaping plot holes that could have been patched with a few lines.
  2. The show sometimes has people who probably have not read a board like JJ's before, but they do it fairly easily. Isn't that something that takes practice? Wouldn't JJ have to spell more letters for each word than he would for Kenneth or a member of his family? Guessing they don't want to slow down the conversations.
  3. A clip involving daylight saving time. (Donna, Toby, and Josh in Indiana.)
  4. The discussion of S12.E17: The Conference Valuation has some comments that could inspire fan fiction if they are not addressed in the remaining episodes: Leonard's family: how he and his siblings were raised and treated, and what they would say about the experience now. Bernadette as a boss, and whether Penny will continue to be a bully too, or become more supportive to her staff. If you write (or read and like) fiction on these or other subjects, please post a link!
  5. During commercials I switched to a documentary about the oceans, that had a lot about krill. Ed signed his name Ed Mercer. Cast lists give his name that way, not Edward or whatever. Glad to see the Krill guy did not write his name in English characters.
  6. The "daughter's" early behavior reminded me of River Tam in Firefly, and I wondered what or who might be a weapon, so I was not surprised at the answer. Starting to like Gordon a lot, now that he has moved away from his early fratboy behavior.
  7. This is sometimes called tome deafness. Probably quite a few of us have it.
  8. Too bad, I liked Lilly Chin and would have been pleased to see her. IIRC, Alan Lin is the one who said he would like to write clues for Jeopardy. Please hire him, we need better clues!
  9. My station made a 90-minute event of this episode. Before it started, they kept saying "it's history." I was ROFL, trying not to cry. I changed channels at 10 PM because I had something else to watch. Someone else asked what happened at the end of this episode, and I hope someone will reply.
  10. I choose to believe that Isaac named himself after both Newton and Asimov, but he chose to mention only Newton, either to save time or for the reason you gave.
  11. My team, in case anyone cares: Ken (team Ken), Larissa (team Brad), and Alan (team Colby).
  12. The three remaining teams are Ken, Brad, and Colby, correct? (I have one player on each of those teams.) Does this tournament go two more days?
  13. Maybe that's one reason Yaphet is in engineering. Yaphet's next line: "Claire, Isaac didn't work out well as a boyfriend, huh? I'm still interested, and I saved Ty and the ship too!" Isaac was ordered to choose a different name, although they probably would just assign him one if he needed one. What name might he have chosen? Maybe Galileo.
  14. The best line was Goodwin telling Rhodes and Bekker that she is tired of their soap opera.
  15. Then we can have a "STFU, Saber5055" game? Let us know your beverage preferences (Driad said crisply). JK, but there were several "STFU, Alex" moments yesterday. If I had been drinking alcohol I would have done even worse on FJ than I did (Michelangelo).
  16. If you go to the NEHGS site https://www.americanancestors.org and sign up for a free guest account, you can use some of the databases and apparently look at American Ancestors magazine.
  17. Mine too. BTW, Ken Jennings has been on "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" (NPR news quiz) twice and was quite entertaining.
  18. There is a 6-page article "A Community Betrayed: The Fate and Legacy of Slaves Sold by Georgetown University" in the winter 2019 issue of American Ancestors, a publication of the New England Historic Genealogical Society. Many public libraries carry this journal.
  19. In the awful "Duchess and Joseph" plot, the only person I might feel for is the Duchess's son. He spends his time between a (likely torturous) school and a cruel father, sees his mother dragged away, and when he grows up he will have to deal with everyone "knowing" that his mother was insane.
  20. I have dealt with several surgeons. None of them were stars at communication or empathy. The pastor reminded me of a patient on ER(?) who declined surgery for prostate cancer because it would probably lead to impotence. He was a priest and said he needed the temptation of sex so he could resist it and keep his faith.
  21. They have people who can do fancy contact lenses, but nobody who can read a map, eh?
  22. Glad they explained how the fantasy team tournament works. If they did that earlier, I missed it. There is one player I might have chosen except that the person has the same first name as the worst boss I ever had.
  23. "American Masters: Sammy Davis Jr." on PBS included a clip from Davis's guest spot on AITF. Yes, that clip.
