  1. The morning after conversation was just so bizarre. It seemed like they both knew that "over," but I agree it is not clear why. I re-watched it, and Zach was especially awkward. He started making small talk about the type of coffee they were drinking. I realize that you might talk about the food/coffee if you are with you are with a significant other, but I don't think that was the situation. I got the feeling that he was doing it because he had to fill time and had realized at some point that he and Rachel have nothing to say to each other. I felt sorry for him. I hope that we find out what happened in the FS.
  2. I am rooting for Baker Mayfield all the way. He made the Cleveland Browns relevant for the first time in years, and they crapped all over him. I've also heard from friends who have seen him out and about in the Austin area that he's very nice and polite to people. That goes a long way, too.
  3. Wow, I'm really sorry that I missed this. Recently, I only watch NASCAR to see if Bubba is in contention. He's had so many close races. It's great to see him get the win.
  4. Chen and Bradford will go undercover again, this time in Vegas. https://tvline.com/2022/09/02/the-rookie-chenford-las-vegas-season-5-photo/
  5. Thanks for this, I finally realized why Collins turns me off. It bugs me every time she's on. Maybe if she wins, she'll dial it down a notch. She does have a lot of talent. It's crazy how many good women there are who have never won a singles major. Besides Collins, there is Sakkari, Sabalenka, Rogers, and Pegula. I would love to see one of these players break through.
  6. Danielle Collins seems to have some momentum after a win over Naomi Osaka. Last night in her post-match interview was the first time that I've kind of liked Collins. Maybe it's because she seems less uptight She has always looked to me like a lady who dropped in for a round of tennis at the country club. As time goes by, I have to wonder whether Naomi Osaka will be able to regain her competitive form. She's still got tons of talent, but it looks like her heart is not in the sport anymore.
  7. He's probably made a ton of money off of this show and no longer has to pretend to care about it. I wonder how they are going to break up Jay and Hailey. Will he make a mysterious goodbye phone call from a bridge looking out on the Chicago skyline as a shoutout to Erin? Hailey is going to be even more insufferable without Jay. I think Jay leaving is a "jump the shark" moment. I can't be bothered to care about his replacement. It is really hard to care about new characters on a show that has been on for 10 years.
  8. TJ Watt sustained a leg injury in the Lions/Steelers game. He was able to walk off the field. I'm not really a Steelers fan, but I hate to see a player as good as Watt hurt in a pre-season game.
  9. Did anyone watch the episode tonight about the Orange County girl who was abducted and found murdered in 1972? A police department public relations person created a Twitter account about the crime with first person tweets about the murder victim's thoughts. The theory behind it was that the made up Twitter thoughts of the victim would help solve the crime. I found the episode highly offensive from the crackpot police PR lady on down to the idiots who followed the account on Twitter because they thought they were going to solve the crime by reading the PR lady's Tweets. Half of the people in the episode weren't even alive when the crime was committed, so they had nothing to contribute. I can't believe that 48 Hours degraded themselves by essentially doing real crime fan fiction. They must be desperate for content.
  10. https://www.ispot.tv/ad/bray/knix-time-to-go-wireless-virtual-specialists I cannot stand this commercial for Knix bras. My first problem is that shoving your boobs into these bras does not look any more comfortable than underwire bras. Secondly, I hate the woman who puts her sweater on slowly while admiring her boobs/Knix bra. Who puts a sweater on like that? Hate.
  11. On the first episode this season, they showed Rachel taxiing up to meet Gabby in a small prop plane. They didn't show her actually flying the plane. I assume it was for show. I doubt that a plane that small has the range to go all the way from Florida to California. I am under the impression that she flies and instructs on Cessna type planes. She has never mentioned flying jets. She is a pilot, but she is not going to be flying for Delta anytime soon. Edited to add that there are height requirements for some pilot positions. In the Navy, you have to be at least 5-4 to fly an airplane. There are probably similar things with some airlines. A lot of airline pilots are very tall.
  12. Agree. I feel like she should have left after the 2021 Australian Open. She looked good in that tournament but came up short against Naomi Osaka. There were some retirement whispers then because she had trained so hard and still was not back in top form. I've honestly been embarrassed for her watching her at Wimbledon and Cincinnati. It waa so painful to me watching her against Radacanu. She was like a shell of her former self. I would rather have seen her go out a year earlier when she still had it than watch how she has played this year. I give Radacanu credit for honoring Serena before talking about herself.
  13. This reminds me of the episode of "A Football Life" about Dick Vermeil. The episode showed how Vermeil was really hard on the players, sometimes making them have two practices a day or play until they were sick. When he coached the Rams in 1999, the players got so sick of his tactics that they walked out. They called a team meeting and told Vermeil what was wrong with his practice techniques. Vermeil agreed to try something new if it would make the players happier. That year, he won his first and only Super Bowl. Rhule needs to take a lesson from one of the greats and try to meet the players halfway.
  14. I never saw this one before so I looked it up on You Tube. The music is so catchy, and the photography is stunning. It's a much better execution of the idea in all of the Buick ads showing people talking about how a brand perceived as an older brand is now cool.
  15. This morning ESPN discussed whether Federer will return. John McEnroe said that it is hard to return if you've been number one and can't play like that any more. Chris Evert said that she retired at 34 because she was mentally worn out, even though she could stll play physically. Mary Jo Fernandez talked about how her son, a junior tennis player, hit practice shots with Kyrgios at a tournament in Germany. She said that it was a thrill for her son. Nick Kyrgios was out on the practice court in Boston Celtics gear.
  16. We still don't have an announcement about whether Nadal will play on Friday. It would be really odd to see Kyrgios get a walk over into a Wimbledon final. I wonder if that's happened before. I'm shocked that Halep is down against Rybakina. She's looked unstoppable this whole tournament until now. It's not really clear to me how Rybakina was allowed to play, given that Wimbledon banned Russian players. She was born in Russia and has only represented Kazakhstan for a few years. I mean, good for her for being strategic, but she is Russian. A lot of the Russian players who were banned have not lived in Russia for years. I don't see why the players with minimal connections to Russia did not get the same chance as Rybakina.
  17. It was really cool seeing the past champions. I especially liked seeing Bjorn Borg, Pat Cash, John McEnroe and Chris Evert, as those were the tennis icons of my childhood. You could tell how much the Wimbledon crowd loves its tennis history. John McEnroe's surprise tribute to BBC's Sue Barker was a nice touch. I have not heard many of her matches, but she did a great call of Coco Gauff/ Venus Williams three years ago.
  18. Kvitova out. 😥 ESPN should have expanded the Wimbledon coverage to ESPN2. They only cut in on Kvitova/Badosa in the end of the second set.
  19. Evan gave a very honest interview about why he and Carly did not work out in the long term. This could be a cautionary tale for these Bachelor Nation romances. https://www.realitytea.com/2022/06/29/evan-bass-no-foundation-marriage/
  20. There was certainly no competitive advantage. The ATP takes it seriously. Nick Kyrgios was fined by the ATP for tanking in a match in Shanghai where he lost 6-3, 6-1 and was not trying to win points. He was fined $16,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct. He was also suspended and had to see a sports psychologist. Apparently, Kyrgios did it because he just did not want to be playing in that tourney anymore.
  21. During the broadcast, Brad Gilbert said that he was doing it to mess with Tiafoe so that Tiafoe would be flustered or confused. Brad said that he wanted Tiafoe to think it was all he could do, and then he would launch a surprise rally at the end.
  22. Brad Gilbert is driving me crazy with his nonstop commentary. Let it sit a minute Brad. Chris Evert has returned to ESPN following treatment for ovarian cancer. She seems very well-loved by the whole ESPN crew. Kris Mckendry was on the verge of tears. Evert is calling the match between Diane Parry/ Ons Jabeur. She said that grass is Ons Jabeur's best surface. Ons has never gone past the QF at Wimbledon. Chris Fowler and Chris Evert suggested that Bublik of Kazahkstan was tanking his match against Francis Tiafoe. That's quite an accusation. Tiafoe won the match. There are eight U.S. men in the round of 32. Wow. Edited to add a taste of Bublik's play. He was doing underarm serves. I am surprised that a staid place like Wimbledon allows these antics.
  23. I love the Wendy's commercials with the goofy young employee and the manager. They had one during the NCAA tourney with retired NBA star Reggie Miller. Now they have this one for the breakfast sandwiches. Both of these actors are great.
  24. ESPN has decided to use the rain delay to rerun Serena's loss to Harmony Tan. That match was hard to watch because Serena looked uncomfortable and tired. I have no interest in the "encore" ESPN. ESPN morning coverage of Wimbledon had an interesting fact: SInce 2000, the only woman to win the French Open and then win Wimbledon the same year was Serena Williams. They used this stat to question whether Iga Swiatek can pull off the WImbledon win this year. The top 3 players according to WImbledon oddsmakers are Iga Swiatek, Ons Jabeur, and Petra Kvitova. I personally would love to see Kvitova get a third Wimbledon title. I've heard so much about Swiatek's forehand without any explanation of what makes it special. Props to Mary Jo Fernandez for this explanation, "It is big and heavy and pushes her opponents back."
  25. Katie Thurston broke up with John Hersey from her season after seven months. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-10938249/The-Bachelorettes-Katie-Thurston-confirms-split-John-Hersey-seven-months.html
