I couldn't imagine having kids 18+ years apart! That's so bizarre to me, to go back to diapers after preparing to be empty nesters but I guess that's what you do if you have surprise pregnancy. My kids are just now getting to ages where they can mostly entertain themselves and I have time for myself again. I had a friend who was 17 when her little brother was born. She was an only child all those years and was bugging her parents for a puppy. They said "how about a little brother instead?" And she responded "why would I want one of those NOW? I'd rather have a puppy". So...the news of her mother being pregnant wasn't super well received, though she does love her brother. I'd be too worried about having a baby at this point in my life. Both my pregnancies were hard on me, and labors were not smooth. My youngest was almost stillborn. If we had done a home birth like the Duggars do, she absolutely would have been. It was a major factor when my husband and I discussed having more children- we couldn't put ourselves through the worries about what would go wrong during labor the next time.

S01.E04: The Whole World Is Watching
Jenniferbug replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier
Really bummed Battlestar was killed. Prior to this episode I had hoped he'd stick around as a supporting character, maybe in Rhodey's show or as part of Sword eventually. But my husband and I watched this episode with the sense that SOMEONE was going to die by the end and he seemed the logical choice. I would like more scenes with Sharon. It feels like there should be more to her story than what we've gotten. I have seen some speculation that they had to change the plot upon reshoots because originally there was something about a virus included so maybe her story was more tied to that and suffered as a result. I'm loving Zemo and glad they're setting him up to continue in the MCU. I didn't see his scenes with the kids as too sinister. I saw it as someone who, having been a father, was more successful at knowing how to get the kids to approach him and give him info. Creepy and manipulative for sure, but no pedo vibes. Sam and Bucky just charging in and asking questions got them nowhere. It was his experience with children previously that made the difference. I really don't know how they're going to wrap this up in 2 episodes. Karli and what's left of the Flag Smashers need to be dealt with, Walker has lost his mind, and we haven't even SEEN Power Broker yet (that we know of). I'd also hoped they'd circle back to Isaiah Bradley more. I'm starting to think we may not see Power Broker at all. -
I mean if Disney would like to give me a call, I wouldn't say no 😂 I probably would have made Maya the kid of Guy and Connie, but I would have had a hard time not going totally fan service if I were writing the show. I haven't read spoilers for when the original Ducks show up so don't know what they've been up to.

Overall I'm really liking this show, but the 3rd episode fell flat for me. I think the constant focus on trying to recruit Sofie - yet again- was tiresome to the point where I felt like someone needed to tell Evan that no means no and to stop bugging her. I did like how they handled Gordon finally talking to Alex about why he was so bitter and hopefully the start of him being more involved with the team. I can't decide if I think they missed an opportunity by not making one of the kids the child of the originals. On one hand, it's kind of pandering to do a "next generation" that way. On the other hand, it would give someone like Maya (the popular girl?) more of a reason to join the team, if she was trying to make them proud.

The Other Duggars: The Lost Girls and Amy
Jenniferbug replied to Ljohnson1987's topic in Counting On
Johannah somehow looks like all her sisters, while Jenni looks like none of them. -
I think the interview went pretty well! They said I'm the first person they've interviewed so far so it will probably be a week or 2 before I hear anything. I'll keep my fingers crossed in the meantime! It sounded like they may have another couple of openings for newly created positions in the near future so if I don't get this one, maybe one of those would work out. I'm trying not to fantasize too much about leaving my current job 😂

S02.E11: The Scourge of the Forgotten Rune
Jenniferbug replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Nancy Drew (2019)
I really liked this episode! Nick's amnesia was really well done. Their various notes and attempts after they all erased their memories was pretty clever. Odette coming out to tell them all hello was also funny. Yes! I also sat there thinking "please don't be evil or conning him". -
Thank you! I'll let you know how it goes! I'm nervous but excited.

I have a job interview tomorrow after work, if anyone wants to send good thoughts or vibes or prayers my way, I'd appreciate it! It would still be with the same hospital system I work in now but completely different area. I've been really very unhappy in my current job lately, but it's hard to walk away from the schedule, working from home, good benefits, and 10 years worth of PTO/pay scale. So I'm really hoping this works out so I can retain all of that and yet not be miserable every work day!

Elementary aged kids in our district who need additional reading assistance are pulled out during the normal school day to work with a Title 1 reading teacher for additional assistance. I assume they have a similar set up for additional math assistance. The emphasis on reading in kindergarten has definitely increased since I was in school. Kindergarten teachers are some of the busiest people I know, just managing regular classroom instruction and all the documentation required.

I must be a rare person who can identify them all. Not a fan, just someone who has always been good with names and faces. -
Joe & Kendra: Looking Forward To Side Hugs
Jenniferbug replied to Quilt Fairy's topic in Counting On
I think the falling out rumors started on FJ. Someone with inside knowledge said that Caldwell said none of his other children would marry a Duggar, and someone asked why since he seems to like Joe and the poster said that there had been a falling out of some kind between the families, they didn't know the details of it, and that the families still associate because of the small social circle but are not on great terms anymore. The Duggars are supposedly attending a different church now, and the Caldwells moved out of a JB owned house into the house that had been intended for and is owned by Joe and Kendra. -
Jed! and Katey: Biblically Bunking Together
Jenniferbug replied to Scarlett45's topic in Counting On
There's a picture on reddit of Katey's dress and I actually really like it! It may not be what I would have chosen but I think it's very pretty. I've seen people say Meredith was the other flower girl, but I have no idea how anyone would be able to tell. -
S01.E03: Power Broker
Jenniferbug replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier
I wondered this as well. I hope not, because I like Sharon and want her available to show up in future projects but I could see her being Power Broker. -
S02.E10: The Spell of the Burning Bride
Jenniferbug replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Nancy Drew (2019)
I wondered this as well so glad to see I'm not alone in thinking he's likely to be the brother (or someone somehow tied to the brother/impersonating the brother, etc). I'm glad we finally got the story of the brother and why Ace has never met him. That was a really fun episode! All the slow motion shots were hilarious, and I loved Nancy being so out of control. George and Bess trying to hold her back while Ace tried to airplane spoon feed her the cure was so funny. This cast really has great friend chemistry between all of them. Also loved George hugging Nancy at the end. It's nice to see how their friendship has developed over the show. Not sure how to feel about Bess and Odette. I appreciated that Ace was immediately like "nope, not ok, never ok" so maybe the show won't go there? I hope not. Love Rukiya Bernard so I kind of hope she's around for a couple more episodes, or at least that her arc is closed in a way that she could come back once in a while. I think she has good chemistry with Ryan. I'm not a big fan of the detective being paired with Nancy either. I don't mind them as friendly antagonists to each other, but don't like the romantic angle between them. Also not a fan of Gil but I don't feel like he's a long term love interest for her, so I'm fine with her having some fun with him while it lasts. He and Amanda can go reunite with their mom (and maybe younger twin siblings?) in Arizona someday. -
Honestly, I don't disagree with this at all, and yet I still kind of like the show. I'll keep watching anyway. It's not must see TV for me and it certainly won't win any awards, but I like it well enough to be background noise while I'm working or folding laundry. I realize that's not a ringing endorsement haha

S02.E09: The Bargain of the Blood Shroud
Jenniferbug replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Nancy Drew (2019)
Right?! But I'm also ok with them slowly building toward putting them together. If only because it will cut down on the "stupid reason to break up, then get back together, then break up" cycle that shows seem unable to resist. I just want them solidly together when it does happen. So Ace is probably a Hardy boy now that we know his sibling is a brother, right? I really love this show. It has grown on me so much since the first few episodes to become one of my favorites. -

Pretty sure her info and "sources" are a poster on FreeJinger who was recently posting about the falling out between Paul and Jim Bob 🙄 -
Fate: The Winx Saga - General Discussion
Jenniferbug replied to paulvdb's topic in Fate: The Winx Saga
I liked this. I've never seen the source material so this was all new to me. I wouldn't rate it as amazing or anything, but it was a fun and interesting enough binge watch. I'll watch a second season for sure. Bloom was kind of annoying and is not my favorite character, but I don't hate her. Stella was kind of bland. I wish the show had been 8 or 10 episodes to give some characters more breathing room. I'm not sure why they all like and accept Stella so much, I don't know why Dane is so loyal to Bellatrix, etc. Speaking of Bellatrix, I'm not sure what her whole deal is. -
I figured it had something to do with touching the pod/crystal, and that activating something in his DNA. I don't remember seeing Jonathan touch either, correct? But then Jonathan did seem to be a bit powered up already, so maybe not. I don't think they're going to go with one twin having powers and the other not for long. Also the constant dressing of the twins in white vs black was a bit much after the first scene or two. Yes show, I see one is the golden boy and the other is troubled and more likely to turn "bad".

That really sucks. I'm sorry it was a disaster for you. I would be super ticked off too, especially after spending time to actually make a decent profile. I think once the apps took off, it became more about hooking up than actually connecting with people.

Agreed @Jeanne222! My husband and I actually discovered we had a mutual friendly acquaintance, so I felt more comfortable meeting him in person that first time since I knew someone else I liked and trusted had known him (and his family) for years. He's also a teacher so I jokingly reminded him that his fingerprints were in the system. Before I met in person with anyone while I was dating people I met online, I would forward 2 of my friends his contact info and name, the details of where we were going to meet (always in public, always drove myself there), and then I'd text them when I got there and when I was leaving and then again when I got home. Nothing is ever 100% safe, but I felt like I took a lot of precautions.

I met my husband through online dating. We got married 6 months later, and have been married for 8 years. I think sometimes things just work out how they're supposed to. We both just wanted to get out and meet people so a dating website (not apps back then) seemed like a good idea. We went on 2 dates and decided we didn't want to see other people anymore. Then we were surprised with our eldest daughter shortly after so that maybe sped things up a bit. It wasn't that we felt we HAD to get married. It was more like, we both felt in our bones it was going to happen eventually so we might as well get married sooner. I'm not an impulsive person and never would have thought I'd get engaged and married within 6 months of meeting someone, but I've never doubted or regretted it.

Leeds, I'm so sorry to hear that! I will pray for you and your loved ones!

Happy belated birthday @Mindthinkr! My teacher husband finally got his first dose today. It was supposed to be last Friday but they canceled for the second time. It's a huge relief since we live in area where most people act like masks are suggestions and staying home or not seeing friends is absolute torture.
