  1. I thought it was odd how many knew each other too, but I don't really mind it so far. It doesn't seem to be preventing them from interacting with others or from playing the game. If they're willing to call their friends out and vote them out, then I don't mind they know each other (unlike in the US version where it was all about alliances and who knew each other and hindered playing the game they were supposed to be playing). I'm really liking this season so far! The contestants seem like a fun group!
  2. I'm grateful for the JOY that this community has shared with each other over the years. I've been around since the Mighty Big TV days, but didn't get involved in the forums until it became TWOP. I don't post nearly as much as I used to when I was younger and less busy with family life, but this thread has remained a cozy space to visit. The feeling of community that has been built here over the years is truly rare on the internet and should be celebrated. I hope to keep in touch with friends I've made here, and am grateful to have had the chance to get to know them.
  3. As something to watch while winding down before bed, this was fine. I'm fairly easy to please. But it didn't grab me as something I MUST watch live from week to week.
  4. Same. The mystery isn't too bad, but all the interpersonal drama was unnecessary. One of the best things about this show was the core group of friends and I feel like that has barely been present this season. Ace has been alone in the morgue almost every episode. The joy and fun seems lost. That's not even getting into the condensed timeline making no sense whatsoever (George, who barely graduated high school because of her home life, has now zoomed through an undergrad degree in 3 months and is off to law school? What?) Regardless of when they knew this would be the final season there's still a lot that's...not great here.
  5. What a waste. Exciting premise, stellar cast, potential for fun spy stuff and we got...this. Why Sonya didn't knee cap Skrull Rhodey to prove to the president he was an alien makes absolutely no sense when she literally pulled that move last week with shooting that guy in the hand. Rhodey being a Skrull since Civil War is so infuriating that I refuse to believe it, out of sheer hope that they'll undo it before he appears in Armor Wars or wherever. And really?? No other reveals about who is a Skrull? All the build up and no surprise reveals? I knew it was G'iah from moment one of her showing up for the chat with Gravik. How stupid of Fury to actually send the harvest with her, but it was stupid of him to collect it in the first place for any purpose other than to destroy it so no one else could use it. So G'iah is now the most powerful person in the entire MCU. Awesome. What's the point of any future shows or movies or team ups when she could just show up and handle everything single handedly. And people thought Carol was overpowered... After the midway point of the series I didn't have high hopes that they would pull off the finale but this was really bad. I really wish Marvel would get itself together again. Since Endgame, just about everything has felt disjointed and disconnected. I miss the sense that there would be payoff and continuity. Like many of you said above, I miss when Marvel was good.
  6. I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about this show. I wanted a 3 steps ahead Nick Fury spy thriller, and this feels like a let down. Maybe they'll deliver and turn it around in the last 2 episodes, but with only 2 episodes left, I'm skeptical. With each episode it feels more like this is meant to finish off contracts. Maria Hill- dead. Talos- dead. I'm skeptical we'll see Nick Fury after this series ends too. Possibly in the next big crossover movie, but they haven't really used the character as unifying force in a while. I guess he's in The Marvels, but I'm not sure we know when that is set. I understand the MCU needs to move forward, but G'iah isn't working for me. She seems a little too conflicted to be a good guy, but also not that compelling as a gray character. I have no attachment to Emilia Clarke and while she's fine here, her acting isn't blowing me away so much that I want to see her again in spite of the character. This also so far hasn't really done anything to make me excited for Armor Wars, though maybe that will come later. (Assuming Armor Wars ever actually happens) But there are some really terrific moments and the acting has been mostly so good that I can't say I've disliked the show or regretted watching it. I think it had potential to be so much more and I wanted it to be something other than what it is, and as a result it feels watered down to me.
  7. Yeah, I'm struggling with Gabby at the moment. Nothing she said to Bernice was wrong exactly and yet I was struggling to feel sympathy. I did think it was a little weird that they were all suddenly telling Nicky to spend the night.
  8. Yeah I wondered why he didn't try to give the card to Dawn or Billy instead. I do think it was a nice gesture of him to get one. He did seem good with the kids (aside from that weird episode where he snapped at Thomas and then the next episode was all "but he's a nice kid and Gabby is a good person".) Did they ever make it clear that he had faked his nanny credentials? Or has he actually worked with kids? It could be interesting if Tracy ends up opening a daycare, and he will need a job eventually. Maybe I'm just easy to please, but I'm liking the new characters they've introduced recently. Gail is sweet and Suni seems fun. I laughed at Rishi's immediate "not him. He's trouble." I'm assuming Dan's actor is due for a break and will do a short stint in prison.
  9. I don't hate Chloe or the Mack/Chloe pairing - I'm indifferent to both - but it was odd to me that ANYONE would think she would need to be in a family picture when she and Mack (who barely qualifies as family either) have been dating for about a month. Especially front and center, when the bride and groom were in the back. It was a plot contrivance and not a good one!
  10. I'm not sure what to think about the quick marriage either. I'm a newer viewer so saw none of their prior relationship, aside from their fling during the 50th, so it's hard to really care since I don't know Tracy and Nate is barely featured. She seems fun though and they're pretty together so whatever, I guess.
  11. Just finished this one after the UK version. I don't think this one worked quite as well for me. They had too many people who were off screen for half the series- I didn't know there WAS a Matt till he suddenly got 3 votes; Kate, Alex, and Craig were barely seen or heard for quite a while; and Paul literally never had any focus at all. I also didn't feel as much bonding between this group which is fine because it's a cutthroat game, but it also doesn't make the betrayals as surprising. I liked the challenges and that there was an actual challenge for the shield. It also made more sense for the shield to protect again both murder and banishment, as well as being out in the open. I'm not sure how to feel about the recruited traitors making it so far. Alex spent most of the game as a faithful with no eyes on her so once she switched it wasn't that hard for her to keep going. I don't think she would have made it to the end if she had been one from the beginning. Is there encouragement behind the scenes to take out fellow traitors? I could kind of understand them jumping on the Angus bandwagon since his name was already being thrown around so much, but Marielle immediately taking out Claire seemed very stupid at that point. Then Alex became a traitor and immediately took out the other 2. I think it would be interesting in all versions if they'd do exit interviews telling them- there's 2 traitors left, who are your final guesses? It'd be interesting to see what some would say when no longer afraid to say the wrong thing to the wrong person, or to see if the voting triggered an idea for them. I'd like to see another season for sure so hopefully Peacock will carry it.
  12. It's not that I'm bothered by him not being Paddy's secret child, it's just odd that they cast someone with a decent resemblance and then didn't go the predictable route. It almost feels like a waste. But it doesn't impact my enjoyment of the show so not a big deal. I agree! Jai and Laurel getting engaged was cute. I don't know anything about his past to really feel this adoption story but could be interesting! I did think it was kind of funny that he had to go find his divorce decree right away.
  13. Rocky, Kathy, and Jasper the parrot make me smile! I'm enjoying the friendship between Phil and George. It doesn't feel forced at all to me and the actors work well together. Was this the first we've heard of a George Junior? Apparently he's not Cindy's child. I'm still liking the Knight girls. They were really sweet to Jay, even Gina who can be a bit prickly. She and Jay could potentially make a fun couple someday. He seems more like someone she'd be interested in than Freddie. Jay seems to be the only stable one right now so I doubt that will last long, poor guy. I wish they'd stop making Ravi quite so villainous. He's a good character, but I think keeping him more gray gives him longevity. If he actually ends up hurting or killing Finlay, that's too far. Especially over Vinny being a dumbass who deserves any consequences he gets for his idiocy.
  14. Ooo, finding out his biological mother had a fling with Paddy would be good! I don't think we know anything about her.
  15. I'm new so this is the first I've really seen of any of these returning characters, beyond a few clips over the last few days. I'm liking Ian, Cindy, and Peter so far. I hope Ian tells Cindy that George and the girls are in Walford before they go there, but it probably wouldn't be a soap if he communicated logically like that 😆 I'm not sure how to feel about her still kind of pining for George because I do like he and Elaine together. It's probably too much to hope there won't be an affair story down the road. Lauren seems annoying. Is she also returning full time eventually? Louie was a cutie though! Oh! Can someone fill me in on why Bobby and Ian don't talk? Is it because of Lucy?
  16. Nicky's actor is handling the dramatic scenes better than I would have thought! Really liking him and Caleb starting to work things out. Kyle stopping by was sweet too. Sometimes I'm surprised they didn't go with making Vinny the son of Paddy. It's like the cast someone who looks like him, has similar mannerisms...and then decided to not make that link. I'm a little torn on Belle. I can understand that she doesn't want to be defined by her mental health, but when she stops answering texts and skips work without notice she can hardly get mad when people worry and go looking for her. Chloe also seems like she's overreacting a bit too. I'm not sure if I hope she and Mack work it out or not. Their little family was kinda cute, but I'm not super sold on them as a couple. But I also kinda don't want him back with Charity either.
  17. Ugh, Vinnie! He's wayyy too old to be going on and on about how they need to be a happy family with his parents together. The only downside to him being the body at Christmas is that we have to put up with him until Christmas! He's so selfish and dramatic. I don't know why any of them put up with him! Is his bulimia new or is he relapsing?
  18. I was kind of hoping David had pushed Caleb so that they'd have a reason to write him off. I don't know why, but I would like Nicky to stick around. That age group feels so empty- there's Belle, Vinny, Gabby, Naomi, Tom...is that it really? I like Mandy and Paddy together and wish they would let them be happy for a while.
  19. So what annoys me about this Rose stuff is that they all act like they've never heard of a mother just up and leaving her family. Really Linda? This is so unfathomable to you that George must have murdered her? Phil being all "he lied to me" Or Phil...he really doesn't know what happened to her. The fact that she has a locked down police file and he's still walking free with his children should point to them having no good evidence that he did anything wrong and that the issue was likely with her. I know soap characters have to be stupid sometimes, but I'll be glad when they resolve this. Ben is the worst. Can Jay keep custody of Lexi instead? That poor child deserves better than Ben and I'm glad Billy chewed him out.
  20. Oh interesting! I'll have to see if I can find that. Yeah I hate to fixate on the timeline but it just doesn't work for me emotionally even if there's nothing to truly contradict it. But if that's what they wrote then that's what it is whether I like it or not!
  21. That does seem crazy but it seems to track. Nancy mentioned in the episode with the mental facility that the seance they did with the coins was September 10th and that was episode 7 of season 1. Weird choice by the writers to have such a condensed time frame, but I guess the math works out after all!
  22. I've been rewatching old episodes as background noise to my workday, and I thought they'd say things like "last year when my mom died" but I'd have to go back to the pilot to check. I think an episode today said Nancy was at Winter Formal when she died, so assuming the pilot took place in early fall, she could have been dead less than a year at that point. I don't remember why I have the impression the pilot was late summer/early fall- maybe some reference to moving away to college or the sea water ceremony? I can't remember off hand if they've ever mentioned holidays or seasons that would mark time more specifically. I'm a bit baffled by this decision by the writers too. Does it truly matter if they're 18 versus 21 at this point? Why not let them age? As it stands, it is kind of funny to think how quickly relationships move. Or today I watched the episode where Ace is in the car accident with Laura and has a broken arm that in show time heals in a few days tops!
  23. I'm not buying that all 3 seasons took place within a year. Wasn't it about a year since Kate died in the first season? I'm also frustrated with the stalling on this love curse. There's really no reason why, in the final season, they couldn't write Ace and Nancy as a couple for 7 measly episodes. The Temperance plot was a mess from start to finish and I'm annoyed it's starting to drag down this season, which has otherwise been good.
  24. I just started watching again (I couldn't handle Whitney's baby and then Lola's decline), and I'm really liking the Knights. Keeping my fingers crossed that George isn't the body from the Christmas flash forward.
  25. I'm finally caught up to yesterday's episode. I think the show has been really good lately! Hopefully they can keep Caleb and Nicky around.
