  1. I'm wondering if the TV broadcasts was Wanda's way of trying to get help to Westview. She's somewhat in control but also apparenrly manipulated and maybe even a bit brainwashed by Agatha, so maybe it was a subtle way for her to try to get help from the outside world. Also wonder if the barrier being her doing was to try to keep the rest of the world safe from whatever is going on in Westview with Agatha and any other big bads. I'm guessing that Agatha is the "she" Norm referred to in his head. I could see Agatha manipulating Wanda into creating something, and Wanda was the one who created the concept of the sitcom format (possibly subconsciously at first, then with more intent as she realized/remembered she had control). I think we're going to get a Wanda who is half victim, half oppressor when the full story is known. I'm anxious for the next episode! And then to do a rewatch when it's all over.
  2. I really love this show. I'm fine with Ace being a Hardy boy. Why not? If Nancy Drew can fight the supernatural and the Bobbsey Twins can be scammers, bring on estranged Hardy brothers! (Note: I know of the Hardy boys, but think I maybe read 1 or 2 books so have no strong attachment to their portrayal). I forgot all about the blood bucket too so George was a surprise. I'm glad they didn't actually kill any of the cast off. I really like all of them and their chemistry with each other. Also enjoying what they're doing with Ryan and him/Carson.
  3. Wow. It's so interesting how different states are in similar circumstances. I'm a lifelong Iowan, and while I remember one really bad icestorm from my childhood that caused power loss, it's not normal to lose power here for ice and snow. I've never had water in toilet lines freeze! I didn't know that could happen! We have some warnings with making sure pipes along outside walls don't freeze and burst, but I rarely hear of that actually happening. I'm sorry for all of you who have to deal with that! It is certainly not a normal occurrence in winter weather!
  4. We've had negative highs for the last week. Today our high is -4, with wind chill that will feel like -30. I think we're supposed to get up to single digit highs later this week finally. We usually have a day or two that are this cold, but this is the longest stretch I can remember in a while. I got my second covid shot on Friday. Friday night and Saturday were a little rough with fever and achiness but nothing too unbearable. My parents were able to receive their first shot on Saturday through their doctor, and my husband is scheduled for Friday. Hopefully his won't be canceled this time. He was supposed to get it a couple of weeks ago, but the county didn't receive enough for the school district so they canceled teachers.
  5. @emma675, I'm sorry you are having such a rough time with your mother. Big hugs to you!
  6. That is a good perspective! Mostly I don't mind the midwest, but winter is definitely my least favorite of the seasons. @Zella, no thanks! You can babysit that weather for us for a while LOL
  7. It's snowing here again too. We've gotten so much snow in the last couple of weeks and haven't had any melting. We're supposed to get another 2-3 inches tomorrow but I don't think it's supposed to start till the afternoon so I should be able to get to my 2nd covid shot this time. I wish I could hibernate all winter!
  8. @GeeGolly, sending love and happy vibes to your son and family. I'm so glad to hear that he will be home soon!
  9. I was supposed to get my 2nd dose tomorrow, but we are expecting a blizzard so the drive to the next town over on a country highway with hills and bends didn't seem wise. I rescheduled for next Friday. I'm really bummed about it, even though I know logically it's ok. I don't think I realized how much I was looking forward to that 2nd dose being done with so I could worry a little less. I told my husband that we'd better actually have the blizzard or I am going to be seriously angry! Next Friday is also my daughter's birthday so I'm really bummed that I will probably feel kind of crummy and won't get to just lay in bed like I could have this weekend. Bad mental health day today, I guess. I just really wanted it done tomorrow on the 28th day and am having a lot of anxiety about it not happening. But I'm still luckier than most since I'm actually going to get it sooner than a lot of people. My husband was supposed to get his first dose on Monday through a vaccination clinic for the school district. Then the county only got 300 doses so they cancelled for the district and have offered them to elderly in the public. No word on when he will be rescheduled yet, and we are now in person 5 days a week.
  10. The MCU is kind of damned if they do, damned if they don't at this point. People will freak out if they don't see what happened with Thor and the GotG. But as soon as there's a major threat in a movie it's "but why didn't Cap call Iron Man in Winter Soldier?", etc.
  11. Monica's drone and the helicopter Wanda pulls from the bushes both have the number 57 on them, so I think they're supposed to be the same. But we didn't see the other drones up close so can't say for certain.
  12. I've been doing a bit of journaling lately. Mostly to clear my head, but also with the idea that maybe someday someone might want to hear about what life was like during the pandemic and all that's happening right now. I should have started last year, but couldn't find the motivation to put pen to paper till recently. I don't much care what happens to it, but would still probably censor myself from complaining much about my kids in case they read it. Luckily there's nothing to complain about with them right now, but they're not to the rebellious ages yet.
  13. I don't think it can be Agnes because they had her picture up on the whiteboard but not identified. Woo would know who she was if she were his missing person. Since it hasn't been addressed up through the 70s episodes, I assume he hasn't seen the missing person on screen yet.
  14. Happy birthday @ginger90, @GeeGolly, and @madpsych78!
  15. Or how about babies/children/teens...? (Billy and Tommy). As soon as Woo said that, I thought of Ralph.
  16. We got a call yesterday from the school that the classmate my eldest sits next to at lunch tested positive for covid, so she has to quarantine till the 2nd. She's not showing any symptoms so far so hopefully is ok. We're trying to decide if we should have her tested just to know, but we got a foot of snow last night so won't be going anywhere today and possibly even tomorrow.
  17. If anyone is interested in podcasts, The Dream is a really well done one whose first season is all about MLMs. The history, why they're not considered illegal pyramid schemes, the manipulation that goes into recruiting, etc but it does so without getting too judgmental about the people who get roped into them. Their 2nd season is about alternative health practices so somewhat tangentially related to Plexus even though I don't think that company is ever specifically addressed. Every time I see Jill's claims about making so much money with Plexus, I think of The Dream. I would bet money that Jill is pushing Nurie to sign up to sell under her, and that Nathan suggested they try the products first instead as a compromise. Hopefully he can keep putting her off, but Jill is a force so who knows how long he and Nurie can hold out.
  18. I'm wondering if Wanda manifested the twin because Vision missed the birth of the first baby. Then even with the doctor in the next room, he delivers the second baby all by himself. I'm confused about the doctor. He's all set to go to Bermuda, to the point that his wife is waiting in the car before the babies are born, then after he seems resigned that he has to stay and can't "escape".
  19. I'm qualified as well (paternal side) but never bothered to look into membership or what documentation was required. I mostly think of it as the club from Gilmore Girls lol
  20. Quoting myself from the episode thread to elaborate more here. It feels like there have been a lot of Wizard of Oz references (one YouTube Easter egg video says the movie marquee behind Vision in the theme song is Great and Powerful Oz, which didn't come out till 2013), so I think these are deliberate. But I feel like Wizard of Oz would point more to I also wondered if the input/output Vision's job is tracking is Wanda's chaos magic. I'm really intrigued with the mention of Pietro this episode and knowing that Evan Peters has been cast and not been shown yet. It could be entirely unrelated and they just liked him for the role, or it could be pointing to something more given that we know Wanda will be involved in Multiverse of Madness.
  21. I agree. I didn't think she sounded like someone trying to get through to Wanda via the mention of Pietro, but more like the mention of him made her recall a previous conversation with Wanda or a file she's read about Wanda. That line was very deliberate! I've wondered if Wanda wasn't working with Sword and maybe they were doing some training type stuff with her to see how powerful she really is, and this is the result. She could have met people like "Geraldine", Mrs Hart, etc as Sword scientists, doctors, agents, etc and now has them all trapped in this reality. Sort of like Wizard of Oz, except that Wanda has the people actually stuck in the real world and not just her head. But then I'm not sure how Agnes and "Ralph" fit in, because it seems that Wanda is also being manipulated by outside bad forces, or Sword likely wouldn't be trying to reach Wanda ("who did this to you?", sending in "Geraldine"). This all probably belongs in the speculation thread so maybe I'll carry it over there. So next week should somehow tie into Ultron and the destruction of Sokovia, I'd guess. This commercial felt more like a reference to the end credits scene where we first see Wanda and Pietro. I've wondered about the status of the Accords post Endgame. Is she still considered a criminal? Is she in a facility somewhere and this is partially the result? Was Sword called in to help when it all went haywire?
  22. While I agree that Jill has set a terrible example for her son, I don't agree that Tim shouldn't know better as to how he speaks about his clients and what terminology is appropriate and acceptable. As Doodlebug said, most healthcare organizations have diversity and sensitivity training. I work in billing for a hospital group- I literally have NO contact with patients EVER, but I am still required each year to do an online module about diversity, sensitivity, HIPPA, and other topics. If Tim is working face to face with patients/clients, I find it hard to believe that he didn't undergo similar training. If who he's working for really truly doesn't require something like that, then that doesn't seem like any sort of group I'd want my loved ones or myself to receive care from.
  23. The hospital group I work for is incredibly strict about HIPPA and social media. If I had written Tim's post, I would be terminated. We are allowed to share where we work, but are not allowed to make any reference to patients even if we know them in our personal life (literally one of the examples in the test we take each year is that if my lifelong friend has a baby, I'm not allowed to take a picture or post about me visiting her in the hospital because that's confirming that she is a patient in the care of my employer). So no Tim didn't technically violate the rules of HIPPA but he may have violated the rules his company has provided. And as GeeGolly noted with her example above, he definitely put his toe right on the line of what's HIPPA compliant. At the very least, he should be warned. And that's not even getting into his actual word choice about the people he is supposedly such a blessing to. He has no business being in that career if this is how he views his clients. If it were my family member in his care and I saw this post, I would be appalled.
  24. @Happyfatchick I'm so sorry for your family's loss. That is inexpressibly sad. Let's all pray/send good vibes for a peaceful and relatively uneventful day today.
  25. I'll admit I knew that Wanda and Vision were married at one point in the comics, so them becoming a couple in the MCU was something I was expecting. But I was surprised how quickly I bought into their relationship. When he asks her to stay with him in Infinity War, I bought into all their offscreen relationship development to the point that I was really sad at the end of Infinity War and also sad to see that Shuri hadn't somehow resurrected him at the end of Endgame. They didn't get a lot of screen time or development, but I think Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen have great chemistry and are talented enough to convey everything they need to with their limited time on screen.
