The nighttime commentary is very disingenuous. Acting like they saw this breakdown coming from months away, after hyping her up and calling the gold a lock with Simone on the team.

What's the difference between main coverage and USA team tracker? I keep switching between them, but they're always showing the same person competing. I've only seen Simone vault and none of the other Americans (which, I like to see the other countries, but I also want to see more of the USA than Simone). What's the best version to watch?

Does anyone know if the replays of the women's gymnastics qualifying on the NBC Sports app would show the whole team? We watched in prime time last night, and I don't think we saw Grace at all.

Seeing all the ads for La Brea make me wonder if they would have pushed Debris in ad spots, had the Olympics happened in 2020 as scheduled. I probably won't watch La Brea since NBC has a bad track record with these types of shows and the premise doesn't interest me as much as Debris or even Manifest did.

My 17 year old self fell instantly in love with him back in the 2000 Olympics 😆

I saw season 4 advertised on PBS and thought it looked interesting, so I sought out the first 3 seasons, and WOW, I was not disappointed! I truly love this series and think it is so well written and acted. We contribute monthly to PBS so I just finished binging season 4 this morning. I didn't love the ending of season 4 and would have preferred something a bit more uplifting, but I'm still invested in season 5 and staying with Sunny and the others as they solve cold cases. My only wariness for the new season comes from feeling that in the first season the show bucked the trend of having a detective with loads of problems. Cassie had a nice relationship with her dad, a son who she seemed close with and adored, and not a load of dark skeletons in her past. Obviously they start at the high point and break her down over the subsequent seasons, but I would have liked to see season 4 end with her closer to where she started, maybe moving away with John as planned. But then of course they'd always have viewers asking "where's Cassie? How's Cassie? Is she ever coming back?" in future seasons so this seemed the easiest way to make a clean break. In regards to the mystery...did they ever say or even offer an opinion on why Fogerty would have kept the body for all that time? He didn't seem to be blackmailing any of them. Also maybe I missed it, but I missed an explanation for the beheading. Was that part of a plan they came up with together or did Fogerty decide to do that on his own? Maybe I need to watch it again because I feel like once the accident happened, I had a harder time focusing on the resolution to the murder investigation.

I complain about this all the time. It's ridiculous. I was so excited when Sylvie pulled her hair back in an episode of Loki because it almost never happens in these movies/shows.

I really like Tana French, but In The Woods is probably my least favorite of hers (though I wasn't overly fond of The Witch Elm either).

Coronation Street - General Discussion
Jenniferbug replied to BubblingKettle's topic in Coronation Street
Sure seems like it! At one point, didn't Gail have 8 people living in her house? Maybe everyone sleeps in bunk beds 😆 -

Probably! He doesn't seem to work at the Rovers much that we see. I guess with Todd moving in with Billy and Summer, Sean would have a room at Eileen's. It's amazing to me how many people fit into those houses! -

It's on Peacock now. I have it on as background while working. Only 3 episodes out so far. -
LOtR is the one book series where I would rather watch the movies than read the books again, so we can sit at a table for 2 😊

Are they still being written? I didn't look at the publication date of the latest so I could avoid accidentally seeing any spoilers.

I finally got around to reading the 2 most recent books in the Gamache series by Louise Penny, A Better Man and All the Devils are Here. I didn't much care for the first. It was alright, but I really wish she would stop having some large conspiracy stuff happening every book and just focus on the smaller mystery at hand. The death of the girl was enough, I didn't need all the Surete politics too. Also, I've grown very tired of Clara. I don't care about her art career and find it off putting and disgusting that she constantly has food smeared all over her hair. I enjoyed the second much better, and thought the Paris setting was a good change. It too leaned a little too hard into vast conspiracy for plot again, but it worked better here. Now I'm onto The Eyre Affair by Jasper Ford, which after one chapter seems like it's going to be a fun read!

Huh. Well, having it only be marginalized people being taken is definitely a twist on the original show. Hopefully they can do it justice! It could be rough to balance stories of historic marginalization with current day marginalization, and also with marginalization caused by being given special abilities that is the basic plot of the sci-fi show, but I'll watch and see how they do!

Spoilers and Speculation: Clink Boom and Cheese Fondue
Jenniferbug replied to BestestAuntEver's topic in General Hospital
A few years ago when I was watching the Ice Princess story on YouTube, I thought they should bring RoHo on as the secret child of Alexandra Quartermaine and Tony Cassadine. I believe Nik was gone at the time, so he could have been a foil for Valentin. And he could have rounded out the Quartermaine family a bit, plus he would likely have some right to ELQ as well. They could have gone in a few different directions with him that way, but instead we got Franco. -
S02.E18: The Echo of Lost Tears
Jenniferbug replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Nancy Drew (2019)
Nancy dumping Gil was great. I'm glad Amanda went on the trip after all. I won't lie that I've shipped Ace and Nancy from pretty early on (whenever it was that they went to the library in the first season), but I don't dislike Amanda. She needs someone to help her see the light about her codependent relationship with her brother so she can live her own life. I loved that the gang was part of Nancy working through her trauma too. This really is one of the best group friendships written. They all work so well together and support each other, but also call each other on their BS. Every one of them has an individual friendship with the others, so it's not that they're all bound together by Nancy. I was so worried thus show would devolve into jealous love triangles, but it has really resisted that and is all the better for it. I got a little teary when Ryan revealed he had already signed the document so Carson couldn't be prosecuted. The family unit they're building together is really sweet. I figured Myrtle was going to end up evil somehow, but didn't see her actually being Temperance coming. She'll be a good villain for them. Wonder if we'll meet some modern day women in white. Bring on season 3! -

Yes! It's realistic in such a small community that they would talk and connect the dots! I know Gary is a somewhat controversial character, but I do appreciate that he looks out for the people in the community. And that he was smart enough to call Imran to get the police. Stealing the keys was quite clever. I'm sure she won't, but I was cheering for Abi to stab him at the end 😆 -
This book was prominently displayed at my library today and I knew not to bother thanks to your review! 😆

I don't dislike Jenny and Johnny together, but I wouldn't be sad if they put her and Ronnie together instead. They definitely have chemistry! -

@Cozytea, you've made me realize that I don't know what Gary does either! 😆 The only employment related thing I remember seeing him do are construction a long time ago and his loan shark stuff he took over from Kelly's dad. Sharon's voice makes my throat hurt. Don't get me wrong, I love that it's distinctive, but it reminds me of how hoarse I would sound in my younger years after being in a smokey bar the night before. I'm glad Jenny is onto her. I wouldn't mind if she stays around if she turns on Harvey, but it's kind of ridiculous it's taken this long for anyone to catch on. She's not subtle! -
I hated the Rachel and Joey arc, but the best thing to come out of it was David's acting during the "I'm fine" episode. "I'm making fajitas!" never fails to crack me up.

Scar kind of got an origin story in the Disney show, The Lion Guard. It's actually a pretty good plot arc for a show aimed at preschool/early elementary ages.
