  1. I'd never watched Gossip Girl but decided to give it a try after listening to you girls talk about it. I'm thinking about getting ino the show but don't know if I wanna watch 6 seasons of it. That'sa lot of TV watching to get done. Is the question of who Gossip Girl is a mystery throughout the show?
  2. That drives me crazy too. A week or so ago I saw an online headline about an ATM gifting 100 dollar bills. I thought, Oh, it must be a Christmas promotion by a bank. Nope. The software in the ATM was fouled up and was incorrectly spitting out 100s. But the headline writer made it confusing because everyone these days feels like they have to somehow shoehorn gift as a verb into everything. I hate gift as a verb. *angry face*
  3. I know I'm late to this but I'm gonna post anyway and see if this conversation gets started again. I'm surprised by the hate for season 4. I recently rewatched DC on Amazon and ended after season 4. That was the perfect ending for me. 5 and 6 were just not the same. I didn't like those seasons when I first watched. It felt like the writers were just meandering and didn't know what to do. Pacey sitting there before graduation and just appreciating what he had worked so hard for by himself was a beautiful moment. I didn't need to see anything after season 4.
  4. I'm embarrassed to say that Hilary was the only one I really knew coming into this show. I know I've seen some of the other actors other places but I just don't remember or can't place them. I think Lizzie McGuire was the last good Disney show. Not to say that I haven't watched others since then, but that was the last one about a normal average girl. Looking back on it, it really wasn't a great show but I still like it. I stumbled across a blog a while back called Lizzie McGuire Reviewed where this girl rewatched every episode and reviewed it. It's so funny. She rips all the WTF moments from the show.
  5. I'm so glad this topic is active. I love discussing the books with you all. Kindred spirits and all that...
  6. I love Dayton Reyes. She's such a good friend. They need to figure out what to do with the little sister and maker her more of a part of the story.
  7. That was pretty funny along with Katie always getting it wrong - Emblem - not that she really cared. I get annoyed at people trying too hard to come up with unique names or unique spellings of regular names like Eighmy (Amy). The trend for the last several years has been choosing last names of famous people as your child's name. I like on Modern Family when Mitch mentions one of Lily's classmates being Jagger and says something like "Because that's a name now." Little girls named Aniston annoys me and I know it shouldn't. It's the name of an actress you liked on Friends. But her first name was a normal name - Jennifer. Plus anytime I hear someone call their child Aniston I think of this
  8. I felt the same way about the books starring Anne's children. And I don't mean to nor want to crap on them because I know some people loved them. But I agree that Anne's cute, fiery personality from the early books was all but gone. When I read the part where Ruby Gillis died in Anne of the Island, I cried like a little girl. I just had to put the book down and have a good cry. Some people may call it melodrama but I think it was written so beautifully. I felt like I had grown up with Ruby and that I was losing a friend that I had known for years. And it was so sad when Ruby said she was afraid to die because Heaven wouldn't be what she was used to. She told Anne she was so young and hadn't gotten to live her life and wanted to have what other girls would have by getting married and having children and she would miss out on all of that. *sniff sniff*
  9. I recently re-watched this on USA and was wondering what ever happened to Dunphy Tower. As funny as this show can be, they are horrible at continuity. They'll begin a story arc and continue it for a few episodes and then act like it never happened. Sometimes you think they're going somewhere with a storyline and then it's just left hanging never to be revisited. I know it's a sitcom and doesn't need to be all tied together with story arcs as complexly as Breaking Bad but it seems like they're just throwing stuff at the wall.
  10. I guess it's a good thing she wasn't cheating with Rome. The cat would be out of the bag pretty quick with her children. Yes. Thank you. To me, it's not just her. Most of them talk in that overly dramatic whisper. And the whole show is shot with a blue hue to it. These people never laugh or have fun. I'm starting to see why Jon jumped. If these people were my friends, I might jump too.
  11. Just think, in 5 more years when you're 50, she'll be 40. Szostak is either lying or that's a hard 43. All the women in Hollywood are not as young as they say they are and all the men are shorter than they say. I see actresses that I think are older than me and then when I look them up on imdb or wikipedia, they're my age or younger and I'm like No Way.
  12. I read some of the reviews on Amazon and of the ones who gave it less than a 5 star review, they mentioned the same thing about Marilla as you. They said the Marilla in the book didn't seem like she would grow up to be the Marilla in AoGG. And I totally agree with you about historical books/movies/tv shows seeming too modern or having a modern mentality or the characters having modern morals. I watched the show The Alienist and even though it took place in the late 19th century, is was very obviously written by someone in the early 21st century. They didn't even try to make it seem era accurate. I believe AoGG begins in the mid to late 1870s with Marilla being in her 50s so Marilla of Green Gables would have to take place in the 1830s. It really needs to at least try to be era accurate and make you feel like you're transported back to that time instead of feeling contemporary. I'll probably still get this book on the Kindle though. I'm sure I'll enjoy it and try to overlook the shortcomings. It sounds like it could be some good, lighthearted fun.
  13. I watched a little bit of Degrassi. Hasn't there been like a hundred iterations of that show? If you go to youtube and find episodes of the original Kids of Degrassi Street, it's quite different. Degrassi was a little too self important and serious for my taste. I did like iCarly and Victorious though. It does suck when someone catches you watching Teen Nick or some such channel. It'd be cool if there was an adult version of the channel that you could watch your teen shows and not be embarrassed kinda like when they released the Harry Potter books with adult covers like this:
  14. That song was so great. What was he said? Something about spilling wine on your white couch. Haha.
  15. ooh...that sounds good. Do you think it's available on Kindle? Who's the author?
  16. Girl, we're a lot alike. I like "teen" shows too. I just recently rewatched Dawson's Creek on Prime. Well...at least the first 4 seasons. Those are the only ones that are good imo. I loved The Carrie Diaries. I was so sad when it ended but it had probably run its course. And you know I like Younger, that's why I'm here. I tried to like The Bold Type but only got a few episodes in before giving up. I never watched Pretty Little Liars or Gossip Girl. What goes on in the Beverly Hills 90210 podcast? Do they discuss the show or episodes or something? I wasn't even aware that podcast existed.
  17. I know it's Katie's show but I think the show needs more of the rest of the family. I like Greg and Anna-Kat and Taylor. I'm lukewarm on Oliver. And Wendy Malik's character doesn't do anything for me.
  18. We're 6 seasons in, we've been all of this house, the school, and the town but we've never seen this room let alone knew it even existed? Schooled looks funny. I think it has potential.
  19. I just hope in season 3 that they dial back some of the whole bad government agencies/danger/androids taking over the world thing. I'm more interested in how the androids interact with people at school.
  20. I may not completely buy Sophie being that mature either, but it makes for a cute story with her and Poppy dishing like girlfriends. I would actually like to see more of that. I know she's older but Miggy should totally go for the lady that liked him. She's cuter than Big Red.
  21. Am I the only one for whom all these characters kinda run together? To me there kinda nondescript. You've got basic white guy, beard, black guy, dead guy's wife, new girlfriend, cheated on wife, black guy's wife, and their peripheral children.
  22. Have you guys noticed he always seems to play the same type of character? A jerky douchebag. Look at his roles in Modern Family, The Hangover, The Other Guys, 21 Jumpstreet, Step Brothers, Victorious...
