  1. I loved Mallory. Not to say she didn't have her annoying moments but I loved her because she would just blurt things out and get them out in the open and the other characters had to then deal with it. So often on shows like this character 1 is acting different and character 2 doesn't know why because character 1 is going to suffer in silence and that hurts character 2's feelings and character 1 doesn't understand why character 2 is hurt. Mallory just plowed through all of that kind of stuff. I do like your idea of having Amy and Ty move out. Maybe end Heartland but do a spin-off with Amy and Ty and them working together. Age Lyndy up a little bit and start having storylines around her. It could work, but it would have to be done absolutely right.
  2. I absolutely hate this too. The music is terrible. It sounds like a middle school band that can't keep time together and some of them are out of tune. And what's with the band walking around with the scruffy looking band leader? Does that have something to do with clean windows? How does it relate?
  3. Katie finding a new way to bring in money doing something she loves seemed way too easy. But it is a sitcom. For those of us who don't live in a sitcom tho, it's too easy and that's frustrating in the real world.
  4. I agree that Lou is a nice looking lady but she's not this hot piece that should have guys fawning all over her. It's kinda like on How I Met Your Mother how Robin's hotness was way overstated. Lou was okay in earlier seasons but in the last several she's been annoying to me. Then again she was always my least favorite character. At the beginning of series she was so New York and was kinda big timing the small town Hudson people. Then when she decided to stay she kinda took over everything, telling people what to do. I really liked her with Peter. I thought he balanced her out well. I thought Lou was unfair to him about the work thing. You have to go where the work is. And she had no problem being away from Hudson when it benefited her. For the past few seasons she's been in New York doing this Maggie's thing and doing exactly what she got mad at Peter for and divorced him over. I also didn't like how the writers manufactured the thing with Peter having a girlfriend after the split. It felt like they did that just to garner sympathy for Lou. I'm not feeling it with Luke either. He is Georgie all over again. And I remember a lot of people didn't like Georgie when she first came on to replace Mallory. I never did have a problem with Georgie tho. But this new kid just doesn't feel like a fit. I was really surprised when a season 13 was announced. As much as I love this show it feels like it should be getting to the end.
  5. I hate that there's no one here to discuss season 12 with me.
  6. In a typical show? Yeah. It'd be the beginning of a new story arc. In this show? It probably won't even be mentioned next week.
  7. Have you guys noticed that ABC shows tend to fall into ruts rather quickly? Goldbergs - Bev smothers the kids, kids are rude to Bev, they both learn something by the end of the episode. Bev wants Murray to do something, Murray is apathetic, Murray learns by the end of the episode. Pretty much every episode for the last few years. Schooled - Coach is pushed to accept something new, coach resists and then sees the error of his ways but then takes it too far. Laney does something based off of a movie or TV show. Fresh Off the Boat - Jessica is hard nosed and unaccepting of something but learns something by the end of the episode. American Housewife - Katy gets mad at someone about something but then softens on the point by the end of the episode. This series isn't as bad about it as the other shows but is getting there. So far Single Parents is the only ABC show I watch that hasn't fallen into this yet. But shows I watch on other networks, like Brooklyn Nine Nine don't seem to fall into this pattern.
  8. I know of them. Haven't read them. What's the premise of them?
  9. Thanks for the info. This sounds like a fun podcast. I really loved the Sullivan AoGG. AoA was good enough and was saved by Anne and Gill kissing on the bridge. And I thought Road to Avonlea was a wonderful series.
  10. You'd think adding the twins to the show would provide lots of new ideas for storylines. It hasn't.
  11. I hope I never treated my dad like the 257 girls. I know I probably did a time or two tho. We were all brats every now and then. Loved Bob at the end saying I guess we don't need money. Poor poor Bob.
  12. I don't even know what the commercial is for but I hate the one with the husband and wife whispering free phone football over and over and over and over to each other. HATE IT!!! Their whispery voices are soooooo annoying.
  13. I agree. It feels like something is missing this season. There's a missing ingredient that made last season better. I think they need more connecting with the students. Have the teachers learn from the students as well as the students learning from them.
  14. Par for the course for this show. They haven't known what to do with Alex throughout the entire run of the show. One week she's dating someone nice and it might work out. The next week everyone makes fun of how Alex can't get a date or a boyfriend. One week Alex is growing and has friends and interests outside the family. Next week she's back to being a shrill harpy who makes fun of how dumb her family is. The only note these writers know is to make people dumb. That's why Lilly is now dumb. When she was young she was precocious and could read people and situations better than the adults. As a teen she thinks the moon is a planet.
  15. I didn't get to see the whole episode this week because football ran long and made everything about 5 or 10 minutes late so my DVR cut off. GRRrrrrr. It cut off when the woman and 2 dudes had Bob's car keys.
  16. OMG imagine my surprise when I saw the first season 12 episode waiting for me on my DVR. I guess UP had decided to air it on their cable channel as well as their streaming channel. I'm so excited. The Amy/Ty drama was a little manufactured kind of like it was back when they were still dating. But I'm glad that it's seemingly worked out with them working together. I've always thought them working together to save animals should be their dynamic. There's great potential for good storylines here. The little actresses that play Lyndy are just so cuuuute.
  17. In rewatching last week's episode, they said that their anniversary was 9/3. September 3rd. But they were acting like it was the middle of summer. Am I wrong in thinking it would be a little cool for swimming at that time? Also, why weren't the kids in school? Around here school starts about mid August.
  18. For a long time I've thought Domino's Pizza commercials were beyond stupid. But I can't stand the new ones about if there's something wrong with your order they'll fix it. The lady says, "We'll be expediting this order" and she does that thing where her voice goes up at the end like it's a question but it's not. And they're running around the restaurant taking it so seriously. Gain some perspective people. It's just a pizza. If they come running up to my door to fix an order, they better be bringing food from a different restaurant. Domino's is gross.
  19. What a sweet episode. Romantic high five The jabs at Gayle Love Nat I knew water made my wiener shrink but not my fingers Maybe because fingers are the wieners of the hand I'm just gonna slowly go under water like people in the movies No, stay on land. You're a land dad. Another marriage saved by Nat Kin-kle I felt so bad for Bob. He wanted so badly to give Linda something nice. We're poor...and gross. Well she's great, I'm gross. Poor Bob Loved the little bird ending.
  20. Yeah, looking at her imdb I see that she's been in one or two episodes of a lot of different things. And when she does get a regular or recurring role in a show it's a show that only lasts one season or like in DC she's in the last couple of seasons where the show has fallen off. I quit ER after the original characters had gone (season 6 or 7 maybe?) and I never saw Cougar Town. I still couldn't name anything she's been in.
  21. If they'd used garden shears and started about six inches lower, that'd have been great. This show has not been good for the last few years but usually I find something to like about each episode. This episode was all bad. I didn't like anything about it.
  22. I see Busy on commercials and stuff but other than Dawson's Creek, I couldn't name one thing she has been in. And she was in the two seasons of Dawson's Creek that I pretend didn't happen. She's like a Kardashian; famous for being famous.
  23. I didn't watch SATC on it's first run and have only seen reruns here and there so the difference in Carries didn't bother me at all. I know it was a big deal to some, but not me. After going back and watching some SATC, I actually like TCD Carrie better than the SATC Carrie. She seemed more thoughtful and rounded as a character than the SATC Carrie.
  24. I really want to like Taylor. But the stupid character trope is so tiring whether it's this show or Modern Family. They go from not being book smart to being mentally handicapped. Anna Kat is my fave and has been for a while now. Since my shows have started back up this fall, this is the one I enjoyed the most. I didn't laugh a bit at my other shows this fall.
  25. I can't imagine how boring it must be to play Jessica. Playing a person with no character arc or growth has to get tiring. At this point I'd rather see a show about Honey.
