  1. If a person is 50 in 2020 then that means they were 10 in 1980. So their formative years happened in the 80s. I would think that would make them an 80s kid. A 50 year old would remember things about the 70s, especially the latter half, but they probably wouldn't have a strong personal connection to that decade. Your formative years is when you decide what music you want to listen to, what shows and movies you want to watch and you start developing a personal style. That would give you more of a personal connection to a time period.
  2. I agree I did the 7 day free trial of UP on Amazon. I'm totally streaming now. No cable for me. I watched season 13 of Heartland and then canceled before the 7 days were over. I've gotten to where Lou annoys me so much. I've never cared about any of her relationships except Peter. I didn't buy her and Scott as a couple for a second. All of her other relationships have been a bore. Peter is a great character though. But Lou got mad at Peter for having to go to work. She said he wasn't home enough. So she divorced him and then left her kids for months at a time while she went to New York to try to franchise Maggie's Diner. She was a way worse absentee mother than Peter had ever been as a father. Now with Mitch she can never make up her mind. She tells him he needs to decide whether he wants a relationship with her or not and when he says he absolutely does she backs off and ghosts him. Then this season she says he needs to commit and when he calls her on it and says they should buy a place and live together she's like "Ummm...yeah, that's gonna be a no for me dawg." So since she can't seem to make up her mind he gives her space and backs off and then she gets mad at him and tells him he needs to be around and support her as if it's his fault. Along with not being able to make up her mind she can't seem to focus. The dude ranch was her idea but she never seems to spend any time running it or put any effort into it so it never has any guests. The only person that ever seems to stay there is Peter or sometimes a friend of the family. But she couldn't stay focused on that. So she bought Maggie's and supposedly runs that place. But she's hardly ever actually there to run it. And she couldn't stay focused on that so she runs for mayor and is elected. If she gives that position the same focus that she gives to Maggie's, the dude ranch, her children and her bf then the town of Hudson is in trouble.
  3. So does this open up the possibility of Laney being back on The Goldbergs? I always liked Laney. I never got her and Barry as a couple. But it'd be cool to have her back with Erica.
  4. I'm know I'm late to the party wake on this, but I hate this. I really liked this show and Schooled. I'm sad. Looking at this page I feel like some odd choices were made. AFV is renewed? Why? Who actually watches this still? Can't you get the same thing from youtube or fail army on snap without all the talking and fake interaction between clips? A Million Little Things was renewed? I tried with that show but I just couldn't. It's just so overwrought and overacted. I don't know that I ever watched anything on CBS. About the only thing I watch on Fox is Bob's Burgers. I don't know why they continue to renew Family Guy. It's as if McFarlane is daring them to cancel it because he doesn't even seem to care anymore. Even though I watch Last Man Standing, I don't feel like it should've been renewed. And the Simpson's just keeps going because of inertia at this point. Brooklyn Nine Nine is about the only thing left on NBC that I watch. And they used to have several good shows. I didn't catch Community when it was originally on but binged it on Netflix and fell in love with it. And Riverdale is the only thing from CW that I watch but I'm several seasons behind and watching it on Netflix. I know it's bad but I don't really care. I may not last the entire series. I cut the cord a few months back and the networks are giving me fewer and fewer reasons to keep watching them.
  5. The Magnum ice cream commercial where the woman takes the pint out of the freezer and then uses every last ounce of her strength to squeeze the pint and you hear it crack. Why? Who does this? And if it's so hard that it takes every ounce of your strength to squeeze the carton full of concrete, is that really something you want to be putting in your body? But some ad exec thought this was a good idea. And someone else agreed and signed off on it.

    TGIF

Remember ABC's TGIF programming block? It was the first two hours (before some news magazine show) on Friday nights. I think it may have started in the 80s but it's most prominent and best time was in the 90s. What would be your dream TGIF lineup? And they don't have to be shows that aired at the same time. You can pick and choose shows from different years. Mine would be: Family Matters Full House Step by Step Boy Meets World I was lukewarm on Family Matters. I just picked that to fill out my list. It was okay though. I didn't really get the whole Urkel appeal. He was more on the annoying side for me. I liked Full House. Step by Step and Boy Meets World were my favorite. I watch Fuller House and love it. It's goofy as goofy gets but it knows what it is and doesn't take itself too seriously. It's a fun show and it looks like the cast has a lot of fun. I didn't like Girl Meets World. It did take itself too seriously and had none of the fun and love that BMW had. In all their heaviness and angst, they forgot to be entertaining. Sure we learned lessons on BMW but it was also funny and had characters we cared about. And when I learned a lesson, I didn't realize I was learning it. GMW kinda beat you over the head with lessons. Anyway, what's your dream TGIF lineup?
  7. This made me think of something that happened to me once. A bunch of us were out on our friend's boat and we had been swimming in the water. Afterward I put on a strapless top and took off my bikini top. Later in the day my bf at the time came up behind me and pulled my top down. For what seemed like a long time but was probably just a few moments my boobs were out there for everyone on the boat to see. I was mortified.
  8. I saw teen nick having a Game Shakers marathon the other day. I hadn't seen that show in a minute. I think we've all heard the Dan Schneider stories. I believe if there's smoke there's fire. There's at least some truth to the stories. There's the rumor that when Jamie Lynn Spears (Zoey 101) got pregnant at 16 that it was Dan's child. When Game Shakers started Madisyn Shipman's character, Kenzie, was the smart one who did all the programming for their games. Cree Cicchino's character, Babe, was the heavy who would stand up to the adults if the Game Shakers needed her to. As the show went on Kenzie got more zany and to an extent dumber as well as lost screen time. Such a shame for that character. However Babe got all the good storylines, was able to do anything, didn't make mistakes and got more screen time than her counterpart. I have to wonder if Dan was sleeping with or trying to sleep with Cree. It just seemed really obvious that Cree's character had become the favorite of the show for some reason.
  9. Last time I checked netflix they only had up though season 11.
  10. Any Canadians on here? Will there be a season 14? I'm thinking of getting rid of cable and just streaming. I feel like this show is near the end but want to see it through to completion. I know I can get UP on Prime channels but don't really want to pay 5 bucks just to watch Heartland. I suppose I can cancel at any time tho. Has anyone else subscribed to a Prime channel? If so give me the deets.
  11. In finales I want to feel sentimental and I want to feel sad that they show is going away and that I won't see these characters anymore. Even if a show needs to come to an end, like this show did, I want them to make me miss them. This finale just didn't do it. It had moments but, for me, for the most part was meh. I think part of it was all the false starts during the goodbye. By the time it really was goodbye, the audience had been worn out and trained to not care because it might be another fake out. But that's par for the course with this show. False starts and fake outs. Haley's gonna grow as a character and be a style influencer on social media. Nope. She works a job she hates at a GOOP ripoff. Luke is gonna grow as a character and start a tech business with a partner. Just kidding. You'll never hear of that plot point again because he's being sent off to a college that's never been mentioned in the show before. Alex is gonna get it together and find love. Guess again. She's the smart sad sack character all the other characters dump on. So many missed opportunities with this show. Haley should've ended up with Andy. They were perfect together. Dylan was just dumber than dirt and not endearing at all.
  12. Teddy sucked...again. Just wanted to throw that out there.
  13. Rachel had a degree? I didn't think she did. If she had a degree, why did she work at a coffee house for two or three years? I just never bought how she fell bass ackwards into high paying fashion jobs.
  14. I wanted Cam to get the job too. That seems like a good way to wrap up their storyline. Also, I could see them doing a fish out of water spinoff with Cam and Mitch and Lilly in Missouri.
  15. With Alex I can kinda see it because she has a STEM degree from a prestigious university. I'm with you on Haley though. Kinda like Rachel on Friends. She started out the show with no skills, no degree or talent and wasn't even a very good waitress at a coffee house and ended up the series with a good job in high fashion. Only on TV. It's frustrating watching such things on TV when you're having difficulty finding work in the real world even though you have a master's.
  16. I can't believe no one has started a topic for this episode yet. Do I have to do everything myself around here? 😉 I love Claire's new hair. It looks so cute on her.
  17. Wow Can't believe no one has commented on this episode yet. What's gonna happen now that Lainey knows? Are they gonna string the love triangle along for a while? Will Lainey and Barry break up so that she can be with CB? I never bought the whole Lainey/Barry thing anyway. No way she would be so head over heels in love with such a loud, obnoxious idiot.
  18. I can't wait for the Manifest episode titled Destiny. In 2024 Olive is married to a guy with the last name Garden.
  19. I take it from what you said that the end of season 13 leaves the door pretty clearly open for a 14th season. I'm sure that at this point Heartland is pretty much rubber stamped for a new season as long as they want to keep making them. From what I understand it's a Canadian institution now. I love the show but feel that they need to be wrapping it up soon. They shouldn't stay on too long and they need a proper ending wrapped up nice and neat. It's been on so long now. It started out with Amy in high school and now she's a mom. They brought Georgie on to replace Mallory and now Georgie is about college age. Tim has gray hair now. If it stays on much longer they'll have to start making episodes about Amy's and Lou's young daughters.
  20. Still listening to this podcast. They tend to look at things through a 2018 lens. I realize some of that is for humor but you really can't do that with a period piece and be fair to it. You have to look at how things really would've been in that time period. I'm at the part right now where they're going through season 2 of Road To Avonlea. Kristin keeps calling Davy precocious but I'm beginning to think that's just a word that she's heard because she doesn't seem to know what it means. Kristin and Dave discussed season 1 of Anne With An E and liked it. Which I can understand. The show looks at it through a modern lens like Kristin and Dave do. I never like when shows do that and especially when they do it with a wink as if to say "Look how stupid people were back then. We're so much smarter today." Kinda like on a show like Mad Men when it's like: Wink Wink. This lady is smoking while she's pregnant. Wink Wink. They're letting their little kids play with the plastic dry cleaner bags. I'm currently in season 1 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and I don't feel like they do that at all. So far it seems to be a fair representation of the era without being judgmental. Kristin and Dave also liked the set design of AwaE. I felt like it was too modern. Green Gables looked like it could've been designed by Chip and Jo on Fixer Upper. It didn't have a provincial Victorian feel and look at all.
  21. Some of the people who watched the Australian TV show that this was based on were talking about how they changed the Roxy character from a former child TV star to a gymnast in the American version. Now with the revelation of Roxy's sexual abuse it's obvious why the change. Her being a child star who had been sexually abused hit waaaay too close to home for hollywood in this day and age.
  22. Teddy's the worst. I do not care for his character at all. Just not funny.
  23. It looks like they're working hard to wrap things up. Sending Manny off with his dad. Haley being offered a job which I believe will cause her and Dylan to have to move away. They've been hinting at Cam and Mitch moving to Missouri for a while. Whatever happened to Luke and his friend starting a business? Will that get brought up from out of the blue when it's convenient?
  24. In reality (not on a TV show) I think teachers need to dress respectable. Maybe it's because We're continually seeing news stories about a teacher having sex with her students these days. However, on this TV show, I loved how they had Lainey dressed in this episode. She looked so cute in those outfits. Then again, AJ could make pretty much any outfit look cute.
