  1. It's odd because she looked like a kid for many seasons and then all of a sudden she looked old. It was like there was no in between. So I've watched the first episode of season 14 now. I hate that they killed off Ty. I agree with the others on here, if it was done to squeeze another season or two out of the show then it was a big mistake. I love the show but it needs to end. And to not give the fans a happy ending with Amy and Ty is a disservice to the people who have watched for so long. I'm not really sure how they'll get more seasons out of the show. Georgie came in and kind of took over Amy's position in the show but now Georgie has grown out of that role. She's away at school and training etc. so she can't really fill that role. Katie is still too young plus I don't think she's that strong of an actress. I loved Peter in this show and he's pretty much gone. They've now killed off Ty. No offense to the actor that plays Mitch, but I've never been a big fan of that character. They're ruining this show. They should've just gone out on top instead of seeing how many more seasons they can get out of it.
  2. I think Full Bars is still my favorite Halloween episode.
  3. The music now sounds like royalty free music. Which it probably is.
  4. In case you didn't catch it, Mabel's family is Mexican. They eat Mexican food and drink Sol beer.
  5. I didn't take Tina Fey's character doing her podcast as an indication that she had stolen their idea. I took it to mean that something had happened with the three characters or to them that took them from covering the story to actually being the story.
  6. I've read all of the Anne books but haven't read much of LMM's other works. I've read some of the Story Girl stuff. I love the Anne books. And I've watched Road to Avonlea and really like that too. And, like you, I feel Anne with an E was too modern. I've never read the Alienist but I did watch the first season and felt it was written from too modern of a viewpoint to take place in the late 1800s. And when I watch something like that, it just takes me right out of the narrative. It rings hollow to me. Anyway, the reason I'm asking the question is that I'm wondering if my love for the books has colored my view of Anne with an E. I wonder, if had I not read the books, I would enjoy the show more. So that's why I'm asking if those who really enjoyed the show are fans of the books or have read the books.
  7. For those of you that were big fans of the show (or even medium fans) had you read any of the Anne books? If so, did you like the books or not so much? Just curious.
  8. I agree. This is a bit of a new perspective n the 60s. I just feel like hte 60s have been so overdone by now. There was racial unrest in the 90s with Rodney King and the LA Riots but there was also good things in the 90s like the Fresh Prince etc. I think it would've been interesting to look at the highs and lows through the eyes of a black kid in a middle class family in the 90s. I feel like it's a missed opportunity.
  9. You're right, it was true to the time. And having a character die is also a good way to jerk the tears and have an emotional climax. If it's written well it doesn't matter if it's not a main character. As long as the other characters feel the sentiment.
  10. I'm still asking why. It's already been done although from a different perspective. Looking at wikipedia I see the original series took place 20 years before the time it was made. I'm not saying that you have to stick rigidly to a 20 year time difference. And I also understand why the 60s would be chosen since it was a time of racial and social unrest. But look at the 90s. A lot went on in the 90s that could've been looked at through that lens. Rodney King, the LA Riots, OJ Simpson, the rise in popularity of rap music and hip hop culture. Outside of that there's other events tat happened in the 90s that could be explored like the Waco standoff and the Oklahoma City bombing and school shootings. These are just some of the things I've found from a quick internet search of the 90s. I'm sure there's more.
  11. I don't follow the DC TV universe on the CW but a youtuber I watch said this was really good so I watched it and really enjoyed it. I like the family drama more than the supervillian stuff but it was all pretty good. I want to see more of Jordan learning his powers and being able to use them. I like the Smallville characters and the kids at school. Like I said, I like the human drama and family drama of this show most of all.
  12. Rosa who has always kept her wits about her has already been stoned and drunk and out of her wits in this young season. Seems out of character to me.
  13. Wow I am really out of touch. I just now found out that it was canceled and won't be back this fall. I'm so sad. I really liked this show. I've just about given up on network shows. It seems everything I like gets canceled prematurely. Single Parents, Schooled, American Housewife. Last Man Standing got canceled from ABC and when it showed up on another network, my favorite character, Mandy, had been recast and it wasn't even a shadow of it's former self.
  14. Thanks for using spoiler tags guys. I stream and so have not seen any of season 14 yet.
  15. I have never understood or bought in to Kristin's success. Maybe I've forgotten something from a previous season but I don't see how she's gone from a waitress to the CEO of a company. What has trained her and given her the knowledge to be entrusted with this responsibility? It seems Kristin has gotten everything she has because she's Mike Baxter's daughter. Whereas Mandy, the supposed dumb one, worked hard and had talent to actually be a designer. A plotline that they let die completely. I've always had a problem with Krisitn's success.
  16. I have not watched any episodes of the current season. Is it worth me watching?
  17. I'm making it too 1:1? Either it's an allegory or it's not. It can't just be an allegory in the parts that fit your viewpoint but have some hidden subtext that only you see when it doesn't fit. Animal Farm was an allegory of the communist takeover of Russia from beginning to end, not just in some certain parts. If you don't understand how allegories work, I don't know how to help you.
  18. I'm not sure what kinda school you went to but I've never heard of one where kids masturbated in front of each other. The masturbation correlation falls apart for me when the kids are getting on stage and doing it and cheering each other on.
  19. I guess that shows how little I've been paying attention to this series lately. I've been waiting several days before watching new episodes. At least Jen wasn't in this latest episode.
  20. I'm talking about S9E14 - The Two Nieces of Eve. Eve comes home for a visit and struggles to connect with her nieces - 22 minutes, Air Date April 8, 2021.
  21. On Hulu it's only a regular length episode. Kind of a lackluster finale. It didn't tie up any loose ends or make a big deal about coming to a close. It just kinda ended all of a sudden.
  22. I don't know why I didn't think to ask this question here earlier. So on the CW app chapter seventy seven is missing. It starts with s05e02. Because of that I haven't started this season and am way behind. Where can I find this episode so that I can catch up? Help!
  23. I hate to hear this about George Segal. Pops was so great. Bev promised again to never meddle in Adam's life. That promise will be broken by next week. I used to really like this show. The characters are so flanderized now and the real Adam is no longer involved in the show. They need to call it quits.
  24. I hate to say this bc it feels like I'm picking on a young actress but the girl playing Anna-Kat acts like she thinks that she and Franklin are weird. Whereas Julia AK is just being weird and was okay with it.
  25. So apparently that show is dead. I was really looking forward to it. From what I've read there was a disagreement on what Hilary wanted and what Disney wanted. Hilary wanted a more adult oriented show and Disney wanted something more family friendly. I'm really no fan of Disney but I can certainly see their point. I hate when shows like this come back and are too serious or adult oriented. I know a lot of people hated Fuller House but it's a show that knew exactly what it was and didn't take itself too seriously. Whereas Girl Meets World was nowhere near as fun as the original. It was super serious and kinda depressing. I hope they don't make the new iCarly show like that where they're dealing with mortgages, layoffs, depression, and stuff like that. Don't take these beloved kids' IPs and make them something they're not.
