    Sleepover

Anybody remember this movie? It's an old movie from 2004 starring the girl from Spy Kids. You watch it thinking your slumber parties will be as fun and as adventurous as theirs but you just end up watching this movie during your slumber parties. Not a perfect movie. It definitely has its cheesy and cringy parts but I love it. It's like comfort food, not particularly good for you but you keep coming back to it because you like it. We used to be able to quote so much of this movie line for line. I can still quote a lot of lines. Maybe not perfectly but I can come close.
  2. I know it sounds like you and I are bashing the show and hate watching but that's not it at all. We're just disappointed bc it used to be so entertaining with good characters. I agree that killing Ty was a mistake. When Graham wanted to move on the show should've taken that as an opportunity to wrap things up. Is Georgie completely off the show now? Do I need to stop holding my breath in hopes of seeing her again? I've never been a fan of any of Lou's endeavors. She seems to half ass many things instead of doing one thing well. And she gets bored easily. That's why she hops from thing to thing. She's like a dog chasing cars. She doesn't know what to do with once she catches it. The best thing about her was Peter. And the writers kinda did him dirty.
  3. I'm surprised they haven't made Katie a more active character. They actually seem to be more interested in her friend. I also agree with you about Amber losing interest. She seems to just be cashing checks now.
  4. I loved Caleb and Ashley. From what I've heard Cindy Busby didn't wanna leave. I wonder if Caleb/Ashley was getting too popular and they were afraid they would overtake Ty/Amy on the show. I know a lot of people didn't like Georgie to begin with but I've always liked her and miss the character. She, like Mallory, provided separate storylines and a younger perspective. Now they don't have that.
  5. Hrm...disappointing. I'll probably watch it when it's available in the states. And although I still like the show I sometimes feel I'm only still watching bc I'm a bit of a completionist. I'm just watching out of duty and inertia more so than bc I wanna know what happens. I feel it's gone on too long. It either needs new blood or to come to an end. Or to have some oldies return like Ashley and Mallory.
  6. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has a problem with this show. It plays like the fantasy of a teen. No responsibility. Tons of freedom. Allowed to drink and smoke weed in high school with no consequences. And the dialogue. Oh wow the dialog. I don't remember which episode but Belly tells one of the douche brothers that she thinks her mom "got railed" tonight. Who talks like that about their mom? Who even wants to think about their parents having sex?
  7. Interesting post. Part of the problem, I believe, is that degrassi lost its way. Go back to the original Kids of Degrassi Street specials that aired infrequently in their original run. They were just regular kids. The show tried to teach lessons. Junior High still had the DIY aesthetic that was part of the appeal of the original specials and it still had normal kids and tried to teach lessons. High had a bit better production values, was less interested in lessons but was still about normal kids and their lives. TNG was slick and well produced but the normal kid approach was quickly abandoned it became just another teen soap and didn't even pretend to try to teach lessons. Plots existed purely to stir up drama which meant they often didn't make sense or were out of character. Spinner and Paige seemed to be great together but then broke up. Why? The writers felt they needed drama even though it didn't make sense for those characters to suddenly break up and not get along. Craig suddenly is bipolar. Why? Because drama was needed. He had never shown any indication of being bipolar in previous seasons. That's not how bipolarism works. It doesn't just happen out of nowhere like a sneeze. And tng just continued to go further and further down the teen drama path. There was nothing setting it apart from any other teen drama. It was once unique but became white noise along with all the other teen drama. I know Paige was supposed to be the spoiled pretty girl that we all hate but I think she was one of the best characters. Liberty and Mani were always super annoying to me. Emma could be annoying sometimes too but less so. I thought Paige's rape storyline was interesting. I wish they had gone deeper with it bc I believe it had more to say. I kinda feel that they just left it unresolved. TV shows are missing regular teens. Look at Disney Channel. One of their best remembered shows is Lizzie McGuire. A show about a regular girl that we could relate to. She went through regular ordeals like most teens. Buying a bra. First heartbreak. Crushing on someone. Then came Hannah Montana and suddenly shows about regular kids were gone. They had to be about secret pop stars or secret wizards or secret super heroes or rich kids and on and on.
  8. I also feel like Amazon didn't do a great job at promoting this. Couple that with their terrible interface and it's a recipe for failure. They're just throwing money into the wind. Now that they've messed up Amazon Music, I'm done with Amazon. I don't order that much from Amazon anymore and I don't click on Amazon as much as I do my other streamers.
  9. Bwhaaaa?! **goes to check internet** I hadn't heard thst it was canceled. I was kinda enjoying this. It wasn't perfect but it was kinda fun. I'll forever wonder what happened to these girls now. I know it's based on a graphic novel and i could go to the source to resolve my curiosity but we all know that I'm not gonna do that. I see they're shopping it around to other streamers but I'm not holding my breath. Of the new shows I picked up on lately, this was one of the better ones. I also watched The Summer I Turned Pretty but that was kinda dumb. :(
  10. I'm guessing by the way you're posting that nothing is tied up and we're looking at a season 17 in the future.
  11. Also I think Louise felt bad for ruining that little girl's fun. Am I the only one that was hoping the episode would be about going to Tammy's party? I enjoyed this episode but I imagined all the hijinks that would occur at the party would be fun.
  12. Interesting that both plots dealt with childhood disillusionment. Gene realizing that his dad wasn't trying to keep him from having fun but was really trying to protect him from wasting his money on something that sucks. Some of those lessons you just have to learn the hard way tho. And Tina and Louise not knowing what to do after they reach their goal that they've had for so long. It's the danger of getting what you want. And then you don't know what to do with it and it doesn't feel like you thought it would.
  13. I thought line dancing was a 90s thing. It'd be cool if they had a show similar to this but in the 90s...oh wait. More Johnny Atkins pkease. He's not on much any more but the few moments he is he knocks it outta the park.
  14. I find it interesting how Craig is all of a sudden bipolar. Because that's how being bipolar works. It comes out of nowhere like a sneeze.
  15. I liked zeke and Tina's commentary during dance class. Where has Mort been? It's nice to see him again.
  16. I guess. It just feels like they dusted off an old script and changed the names. If they would find different or clever ways to recycle then ok. But this feels lazy.
  17. Agree I think I continue to watch because I'm a bit of a completionist.
  18. Why am I still watching this show? At the beginning it showed a clip of graduation from one of the previous seasons. It looked like a real graduation with other students and their families. Now Erica graduates in a room with 3 people and then later has a "ceremony" in her mom's house with next door neighbors in attendance. I'm beginning to think a nuclear holocaust happened and the Goldbergs are the only survivors bc there world doesn't appear to be populated by other humans. I didn't even chuckle in this episode. Not at one thing. Not even a little. ::sad face::
  19. I'm into season 4 now. They seem to be repeating Degrassi Junior High/High plots. Pregnancies, abortions, parents dying in car wrecks, abusive boyfriends, gun deaths at school...
  20. Teddy is the worst. I loved Bob letting Teddy have it but I didn't like that they seemed to walk it back at the end. Teddy really needed to hear that. Hey Bob's Burgers writers (bc I know you're all here reading this page), less Teddy. More Zeke. More kids episodes. TIA.
  21. I'm late to the party on this. I know many of you probably watched different versions of Degrassi when they were originally on but I've been going through them on streaming. I started all the way back with some episodes of Kids of Degrassi Street. It's weird to see the progression. Degrassi started out as little life lesson shows for young kids. With Degrassi Junior High and to some extent with Degrassi High, they still kind of had the facade of teaching lessons. But those lessons got thinner and fewer and further between as it went on. And with The Next Generation they just said "Forget it. This is a full on teen drama now." It stopped pretending to be about lessons and became 90210 or something. I'm currently in the 4th season of Next Generation. I'm not sure how much longer I can last as my interest is waning. Part of the appeal of Junior High was its unpolished nature. And even though High was more polished and professional it was still good because I was invested in the characters. I even enjoyed School's Out. In the 4th season of Next Gen they seem to be changing characters because...reasons. Spinner who was always a sweet and caring bf despite his being a doof sometimes. In season 4 he makes a hard left turn and decides to be a jerk to Paige. Makes no sense. Emma is now becoming self centered and surface when she had more or less been the voice of reason in the past. Even when she hadn't been the voice of reason she had passion and cared about things deeper than herself. Mani was always a terrible character. She only ever cared about herself with no regard to how it affected others around her or how it made anyone else feel. Liberty is straight up annoying. Writing hearts and boys names on her books. In high school. Are you 11? Because that's what an 11 year old would do. And I can't hear another character say her name without getting that stupid Liberty Mutual jingle stuck in my head. Maybe she's the reason I get so many Limu Emu ads while watching this.
  22. I think the whole first story was supposed to be a John Wick take off. Funny episode. So many little jokes squeezed in. I like the Gene Machine.
  23. I agree. Caleb did the rodeo because he loved it. Jade was a Mary Sue and she did it because she had a chip on her shoulder not because she loved it. And a character that's always angry is not a character the audience wants to spend any time with.
  24. I know a lot of people didn't like Georgie when she showed up but I always liked her. I miss her being on the show. And I agree with you about Caleb and Ashley. They were great together. I also miss Mallory.
