  1. Netflix documentary. Moved by the story of an asylum seeker separated from her kids at the US border, women across the country come together to help. Premieres March 3 2023
  2. Friday was really good overall, though I think Dax and Joss wasn’t that interesting. The best part was Ava telling Spencer that his relationship with Esme was a setup by Ryan from the beginning, as was the Heather confession stuff and Laura with Esme. I also liked Elizabeth’s conversation with Cameron. They seem so natural as mother and son and their conversations, both on Friday and in past episodes, are so interesting to listen to and feel so realistic
  3. This could have worked well as a series finale if the show isn’t renewed
  4. She seemed so caught up in him, she likely didn’t catch all the issues
  5. The show focuses so much on the defendant and their life that the court stuff is virtually non-existent and what is there has a lot of holes in it to tell the story. Whether they leave out the verdict altogether or tell us the verdict first then tell the story, I have a feeling it wouldn't make it any better. The show is a pretty good, sometimes very good, character piece, weighed down by very bad writing for the legal side that frustrates because of so much that the legal types on the show, especially the defense lawyers, don't seem to bother with. It might work better if they have short episode arcs for the season, like 2 or 3 episodes on the same story and 3 or so arcs for the season to better allow a particularly story to be told. As it is, it's very uneven. The ratings are low, but possibly decent enough for Fox to renew
  6. Canceled, reversing second season renewal https://tvline.com/2023/02/24/soulmates-cancelled-season-2-amc-sci-fi-anthology-drama/ Doesn’t surprise me given all the turmoil and renewal reversals at AMC Networks. And of course it being forever since the first season was broadcast
  7. I can’t believe 2 contestants forgot the bread. At the same time, I think one can creatively make a sandwich without bread and still call it a sandwich; I feel you just need a decent substitute to cover the ingredients Do the contestants only need to make just their one dish and not any copies for the judges to taste? It does look to me like the judges are sharing the one dish in order to taste it (as opposed to The Great American Recipe on PBS where they have to make 5 or so copies of the dish for the judges)
  8. Making the next level sandwich. Premieres Feb 23
  9. R.Kelly sentenced to 20 years for his recent child sex abuse conviction, though all but one year will be served concurrently with his previous 30 year sentence https://ew.com/music/r-kelly-chicago-sentencing-additional-year-prison/
  10. This was an outstanding episode on a character level. All the court stuff was perfunctory as usual, except for Kevin’s testimony on the stand dressed up as Robyn, which was mesmerizing. Kevin made it clear to the jury that him dressed as Robyn helping Jamie get rid of his wife’s body was ridiculous. The real sad thing, among a bunch of sad things in this story, was that the wife was completely comfortable helping and advising Kevin on what dress to buy, but said some really homophobic things to her husband when she confronted him after she saw he was having an affair with Kevin (at least according to Jamie). And Kevin was not doing himself any favors having an affair with a closeted man with a huge amount of internal homophobia Really great episode. I hope this gets some nominations come Emmy time
  11. Warner Discovery will reveal details of its combine HBO Max/Discovery+ combined service April 12 https://comicbook.com/movies/news/warner-bros-discovery-hbo-max/
  12. Man, Jacob happened upon some very dicey teachers from another school, with at least some of them only wanting to teach the better students and clearly ok (along with those kids' parents) with leaving the rest behind. My brother and I went to Catholic schools through 4th grade for me and 5th grade for him and maybe a grade or two more so I guess my parents were somewhat guilty of this as well
  13. Yeah, after the Blind Auditions, that's what I've mostly been doing for the last few seasons. To me, getting to know the contestants weekly for the live shows for at least the Top 10 or so really helps to build their fanbase. The winners already have trouble selling very much; this doesn't help
  14. So are the teachers required to go to these conferences? Or is it just a change of scenery and learning some things that excites many of them? Either one would explain why Barbara and Melissa look forward to going, only to slack off for most of it
  15. So was the ghost a random thing? Does this mean besides the obit subjects, she could see ghosts when she needs help? I recall one or two critics mentioning a sharp turn to the show with the 4th episode; this might be what they meant
  16. Chaka Modu, who played Jared in Season 1, to return for the rest of the season https://tvline.com/2023/02/22/the-good-doctor-chuku-modu-returning-jared-kalu-season-6/
  17. Janine forgetting the word the kids were supposed to guess lol
  18. I’m surprised yet not that Darlene, despite her misgivings, told Harris she’ll fully support her and the baby. That’s probably the best option for a young woman who doesn’t have much money and the dad isn’t in the picture
  19. The closed captions just says “grunts”. It looked to me like a feral growl or yell just as he’s getting ready to attack Ava or kill her
  20. Chilling: Heather telling Spencer he was next (as the victim of the Hook) Sweet: Laura fully leaning in to help Esme give birth. Laura is capable of being tough, but she showed her loving, maternal side in those scenes Thrilling: Mac shooting Ryan dead. And Mac, Felicia and Kevin’s reactions afterwards were moving
