  1. I'm just cracking up at the mental image of Darryl sipping espresso out of a tiny cup while wearing a beret.
  2. I don't think so, but I recall thinking they'd cast well for a resemblance to Lowe. More so than Chad playing his half-brother, actually. That was surprisingly good. I'd expected to fast-forward through all the Owen scenes, but they kept me invested for the whole show. And the Judd and Wyatt plot was great as well. If they could spread this kind of quality home life storytelling to Marjan, Nancy, Paul, and Mateo I wouldn't mind the lack of focus on the firehouse. (No complaints about Tommy's scenes already mostly being personal rather than professional, her storyline has been the highlight of the show for me.)
  3. I did love Carlos' reaction to finding out TK brought home a lizard that had burrowed into someone's flesh. Not the sort of pet I'd be open to keeping around either!
  4. I chuckled at the voodoo doll exchange, but that was about the only funny part of the episode for me.
  5. Right there with you. I'm happy the show was such a success and brought so much new attention to live theatre, but a few attempts to listen to the songs proved it was very much not my thing.
  6. That horrible polished concrete floor doesn't help, though I suppose it is the ideal flooring if you expect to have wild animals running free or mad arsonists trying to burn the place down.
  7. I think all of the characters except Thorfin and Sassapis could have potentially been exposed to the idiom when living. It's not as if sex and the slang pertaining to it was invented in the 1990s. Alberta not having heard EVERY possible variation while working as a musician in 1920s speakeasies is the most unbelievable aspect to me.
  8. Based on the one I watched, no, it is not.
  9. Max I can see since they have so much bff history and compatible interests, and he really only developed an interest after he'd been dumped and Kat had a new, much younger boyfriend that was effusive in his praise for her. Nick, no way. He might tease her with the prospect of interest to get under her skin after she was vocal in calling him out about various misbehaviors, but I don't think he'd actually follow through unless he had something significant to gain from her.
  10. A friend of mine who was advising young actors told them that for commercial work they need to be prepared to portray husbands as incompetent man-children.
  11. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one.
  12. Don't give Dave & Buster's or Carl Jr's any ideas!
  13. While the X-Men action scenes were more impressive, I really much prefer Taylor-Jones' performance. He and Elizabeth Olsen managed to develop pretty good sibling chemistry in just a couple of scenes. (Interesting, because I'd have assumed their characters were in a loveless marriage on the brink of divorce in Godzilla for all the romantic chemistry the actors had there...)
  14. Think of it as a history of showing that you use credit responsibly. If you pay for everything by cash, the banks have no records of prompt repayment to assess the risk of lending you money.
  15. I'm not liking this thing with Nick. I really don't buy him being romantically interested in Kat from the start, he seems the player type that would be going after much more superficially attractive women. Hope Kat warns her friends about the cheese wheel. I don't blame Randi one bit for being upset that her boyfriend had suddenly all but moved in to her home without asking. Really, Max should have run that by her even if she and Carter weren't dating, but advancing a couple on the relationship ladder as a third party bystander is a really big faux pas. I'm also not thrilled to see the next episode will be hijacked by a crossover featuring the moron from Welcome to Flatch and some other FOX show celebrity that I'm completely unfamiliar with.
  16. In my opinion, even better in no doses at all.
  17. You'd think there's a limit to how lighthearted a movie whose antagonist is called "Gorr the God Butcher" can be. Then again, Watiti made jokes out of the Executioner, slavery, forced gladiatorial combat, the blink-and-you'll-miss-it deaths of the Warriors Three, and the utter destruction of Asgard last time around, so who knows?
  18. That's amazing to me, as I thought of Yeoh's performance in that as by far the best in an overall excellent film. I wasn't terribly familiar with her before that — I knew she kicked ass in Supercop and a Bond movie, but thought she must have been a top-tier dramatic actress in Asian cinema as well.
  19. It does seem like they're missing a prime opportunity to cast Asian actors as leads based on Zan and Jayna's cartoon appearance. And please, no one try to tell me they did race blind casting, I've seen KJ Apa's "acting" on Riverdale.
  20. I initially misheard her sobby "Nathan" as "David," which made me think the plot was heading toward a Freejack place and would explain David Choak's apparent interest in Nathan.
  21. I'm having a hard time imagining KJ Apa and Isabel May asking for that.
  22. Yeah, it was really refreshing how atypically Oscar reacted to the news of Max's confession at the start of the season, when he was all happy puppy over being picked. I hope the two can remain friends, as this time around Max didn't actually do anything disrespectful to him. I also hope Kat can find the wherewithal to tell Oscar that she's not breaking up with him to get together with Max, but because the kiss was a sign that she's not as confident in and committed to their relationship as he is.
  23. "Sure, he's selfish and obnoxious, but have you seen him in a tank top?"
  24. Don't the two main characters also seem like they're being (mis)written as children? I heard one of them make a reference to "back in high school," but the situations they're in seem like what high school freshmen or sophomores would be going through.
  25. Let's just say I don't think it's a coincidence that TK moved with his dad to work for him at the restaffed firehouse in Texas.
