  1. Also, when they put the sex back in a Marvel movie (Eternals) it definitely did not improve the film, and they might as well not have bothered. Not something I ever expected to find myself saying about a Richard Madden love scene.
  2. I wouldn't mind, but then I have fond memories of being in the painting studio at university and watching non-art student visitors enter only to turn green after breathing in a lungful of turpentine and linseed oil fumes.
  3. Yeah, kudos to the show for having Catherine treat the disrespect and craziness from Owen seriously and not put up with it. His accusatory meltdown was WAY out of line; even if she'd been involved with Patrick Sr. and had a thing for older men, there is nothing wrong with that. Unlike, say, constantly resorting to violence in disputes, or deciding to save someone from a fire after they've cooked a bit because you want them to suffer. Catherine was already overlooking enough red flags that I wondered if she were color blind. The Tommy storyline was well done, both sweet and sad. And it was great to see the bond of friendship between Tommy and Grace. Am I alone in thinking it's a bit soon for her to jump back into the dating pool, though? I know everyone processes grief differently, but I'd say if you still need to attend a grief support group (perfectly reasonable 11 months after losing your spouse), you're not yet ready. TK needing to talk to his sponsor about addiction matters isn't troubling, but flaking out on Carlos inconsiderately is, and shutting down on his boyfriend rather than being able to talk about his bad day at work or missing his mom really is.
  4. That I will forgive as this wasn't some case that outraged them as bystanders. Dude tried to murder them! I'd still be focusing my anger on him rather than the judge or prosecutor too.
  5. A cake should not so closely resemble meaty paté canned cat food.
  6. I'd say that Kat is definitely more successful, and likely a fair bit brainier (despite her quirkiness) than either guy. But those are qualities that are traditionally seen as attractive in a man rather than a woman. The men are more physically attractive, to a greater or lesser degree, but their lack of ambition (Oscar) and general success at life (Max) are working against them as far as being good catches. In Oscar's case I think the flip works, but Max is pretty much a Holly Golightly style hot mess.
  7. Sam's mother and the other ghosts at the restaurant seemed to be stuck at that locale, so I think it's just the general way the setting works, not something specific to Woodstone Manor. I suppose people who die of natural causes have enough time to prepare themselves and make their peace with dying.
  8. I'd like to see another season of Hellstrom if they could get the cast back together. Hey, they got Charlie Cox back for an MCU appearance, so nothing's off the table. Except Inhumans. That should be buried in a deep hole somewhere.
  9. Beg to differ. Wonder Woman targeted a metric ton of toys and merchandise to girls (like I said, I shopped for them that Christmas season), to the point that the merchandising supposedly exceeded the movie's worldwide box office take. At least for that one film Warner Bros did practically everything right.
  10. Based on what I've heard rumored about the plan for Flashpoint (rebooting the DCEU, killing off Cavill's Superman in absentia and replacing him with Supergirl), I'd just as soon Warner Bros shelve it and cut their losses.
  11. In my headcanon, the douchebros were asking themselves "Trevor thinks that Jeff guy from the limo company is hot and banged him? What was in those pills?"
  12. That or all the alcohol and drugs...
  13. Living upstairs from a locally-owned pizzeria really cuts down on the amount of carry out pizza I buy from chain restaurants.
  14. I think Hetty's boundary might conform to the actual boundaries of the property, since she was its owner. I don't know about all the others though, they might have overlapping territories that don't exactly match. Pete's might extend further to the back of the house and Thor's to the front, with Alberta's and Trevor's centered exactly on the house, for example. I will give the original show one thing over its adaptation, the little Plague Girl was creepy/hilarious in a way the basement dwellers just can't match.
  15. Agreed. I wasn't watching to catch the visuals, but the songs sounded fine to me for a genre I'm not particularly fond of. I certainly wasn't wondering why the dude considers himself a musician like I have in the past when Halsey or Kanye were the musical guests.
  16. I wouldn't necessarily mind so much if that time were spent on things like directing his firefighters what to do in emergencies or mentoring them, rather than policing the whole city solo as if he's the sheriff in the Old West. Like, I am more than fine with Tommy getting a larger share of screen time than most of the supporting characters, because the time she gets is used well. (And, admittedly, if the show were Gina Torres silently petting her character's cat for an hour I'd be down for watching.)
  17. I didn't know who Jerrod Carmichael was going in, but he made me a fan tonight. I can't remember the last time almost all the sketches landed.
  18. I'm a little disappointed that Trevor didn't buy it in a sexcapade. Or at least deciding to go streaking in a blue + yellow pill manic state and having his heart go kablooey mid-strip.
  19. Bleach and hydrogen peroxide dry pretty damn quick when mixed but I don't want to clean my floors with the combination!
  20. And this would explain why in 2017 DC got all my Christmas children's gift purchasing money. Wonder Woman wasn't excluded, or an afterthought tacked on to the end of a 15-piece Batman set, her merchandise was proudly displayed at the FRONT of the toy aisle.
  21. I can't be too critical of the relatives in those sorts of DNR situations, Kenadi O. Holding on isn't just about selfishly wanting to keep the loved one with you, deciding to let them go means you have to be brutally honest with yourself that there's no more hope of recovery, or at least not enough to justify their suffering. Telling the crash team to stop their rescue attempt on my father the night he died (a decision made jointly with my mom, who had the actual say) was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life by a WIDE margin.
  22. He doesn't strike me as an evil person per se, I'm getting more of a mentally ill vibe.
  23. At this point I'm wondering how Owen didn't see the second plane approaching the South Tower on 9/11 and jump out a window to punch the hijackers and land it safely.
  24. I do remember initially thinking Julie Benz's character was in cahoots with Murder Deputy because she's great at playing villains and I didn't think Tim Minear would bring her on just to play Owen's potential love interest and then drop her. But this episode had me fooled until Carlos' reaction to the footage. I thought Nancy's storyline was well done, and they made Carlos surprisingly quick on his feet and good at insincerely drawing the real story out of Sadie. I also really liked that they aren't playing Owen's belligerence up as a good character trait.
