Anticipation for Stephen Colbert's Late Show
A Boston Gal replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Late Show With Stephen Colbert
Ruby25, I'm hopeful that he will be able to pull off a cordial & interesting interview that won't scare off first time viewers, while still being his smart, witty, and whatever the-opposite-of-pandering is self. :) Edited to replace "friendly" with "cordial." Because Stephen does not have to be friends with Jeb in order for this to work. ;) -
It was a groan-worthy moment, for sure! Those poor guys - they almost were laughing themselves at that obviousness of it all. Salt in the wound much, NBC?? Sheesh.

Siro-A's over-use of lights just masks their aveage dancing. It was distracting and migraine-inducing, starting off slow, and only working its way up to live-show worthiness towards the end. They also are forcing me to use far more hyphens than is necessary.

The most interesting thing about this for me was discovering that "Australia's Got Talent" has DAWN FRENCH for a judge! Lucky Ozzies!! ETA: Actually, the episode was pretty interesting; it's just that DAWN FRENCH is more so. :)

Can I just vote for Piff and the Mexican girl singer now?

S10.E12: 10 Year Anniversary Special
A Boston Gal replied to Commando Cody's topic in America's Got Talent
Lonesome Rhodes, double check to all of your points. Even though I'm not a Simon Cowell fan, I'd take him over Piers as a judge, if there must be a change. (I will never forgive Piers for how he fucked over Prince Poppycock in the finals. I want to cry just thinking about it.) -
While I marginally approve of Rachel/Adam more than Rachel/Jeremy, the pairing that really makes this show sizzle is Rachel/Quinn. Dump the guys, Rachel, and take up Quinn's offer to rule the Television Universe! This is where Rachel's calling truly lies. (PS: I also am disapointed that Quinn has been portrayed as going Full Out Villian. She's far more interesting when nuanced.)

Paul Hebert collecting disability while on the show has made national news. Surprising that anyone cares besides us Wicked Tuna fans.

Jean Smart? Yes, please! Already, I'm enjoying Fargo's second season 10 times more than True Detective's!

Seriously? I mean, I'm not trying to sound naive, but ....my God, I can't believe that! Ok, I can believe it, but...what if someone got really ill? And what's with CASTING people that need all these mood meds, anyways? Would they withhold, say, thyroid medicine or blood pressure medicine as well, or just meds that affect the state of mind? I'm really stunned by this; wouldn't networks' legal departments put the kibosh on this practice, if only for liability reasons (not even expecting them to have ethics here)?

S03.E02: Your Popcorn Made A Messing
A Boston Gal replied to yeswedo's topic in Hollywood Game Night
You could almost see the smoke coming out of her ears. -
Me, too, Ohwell! I thought he was funny then, and he's only gotten better. :)

Agree that the Mexican singer far outshone her dime-a-dozen counterpart who got through, even though the performance this time was not as strong. I adore her voice, even though I dislike most adolescent performers. And yes, the rock band was the most average of the average ever. Blech. Rather, I can't even work myself up to say "blech." What do you want to bet that the circus son was smiling because as we speak, the producers are planning a way for him show up in his mom's act? And all the dancers this season can just go home now. I'm seeing nothing new or exciting here. Competant and graceful, yes. Mind blowing, no. Myk Kaplan the comic and Piff the Dragon were the kings of this episode, without a doubt.

(Sorry, the Quoting Gods are against me today....) Actually, this is a very fair point. Unless there was cause to think Mary was pushed, I can see the cops not wanting to press the matter. Although, I'm sure one or two detectives thought, "hey, why didn't they call us when they found the note?" And, I can also fanwank/handwave that their boss said, "Drop it."
-
Even if the show isn't to be taken that seriously, I still can't believe the police wouldn't be all over the suicide note, especially because it seemed to be found suspiciously later, rather than sooner when they were on the scene.
-
Whoa! Didn't know about any of this! Where have I been?? Laura's got quite the mouth on her, although I'm sure Hester could drive just about anyone insane. He's a jerk, but if the producers noodged him on, they've got to take some of the blame, no? ETA: Was this a recent event, or is this from months ago, when Dave was first kicked out?

S03.E01: Two Janes Are Better Than One
A Boston Gal replied to yeswedo's topic in Hollywood Game Night
I believe the amount of money is the same: 25,000 as the top prize, but if they don't identify all 10 celebs, they get 1000 per identified celeb. Each of the two celebs playing also win an equal amount for their charities. -
S03.E01: Two Janes Are Better Than One

I have a feeling that the "Two Celeb" final game is to double the celebs able to play for their charities. This increase in odds will attract more celebs for the show. -
Good Morning America - General Discussion
A Boston Gal replied to David T. Cole's topic in Good Morning America
They do this on ALL the morning news shows, xls. It's infuriating, and not at all attractive. -
I enjoyed the boy singing duo, the big women dancers (their performance was very tight - much better than many of the dance acts we've seen get tongue baths on this show, and they can MOVE!), and even the last-minute pop-opera quartet. I also admit I have a strange fascination about competative eating, so I'm not sorry the chef/egg guy got through for at least one round. Yes, the eggs were gross, but he needed to get the judge's attention. And yes, I know that it'll probably be gross again, no matter what food he chooses. Sue me; I'm weird. ;) But the rock band? I dunno...the lead singer's voice sounded really strained. Has no one taught him how to sing rock without ruining the vocal chords? ETA: I think the same Xavier just showed up in the first episode of the new season of "Penn and Teller's Fool Us". The boy gets around. :)

A thousand times yes...although I suspect I'd cut Ani some slack on her hair if I wasn't so irritable over Vince Vaughn's performance/character/does it matter which?
-
I also feel the execution of the finale was gawd-awful. The concept of Jackie OD'ing at the end (intentionally? mistakenly?) was a good one, but since this last season was so badly plotted, I felt there were too many nits left to pick to give the finale a thumbs-up. This ambivilence has led me to like many posts here that are in direct contradiction to each other. My apologies if anyone is keeping track of my logic, which, like the logic of this season's story arc, has gone completely out the window.

Count me as another who experienced a "Boardwalk Empire" flashback. I also seem to be a member of "I had to fast forward through the Vince Vaughn monologue" club. He was just painful to watch.
