Time's Person of the Year is supposedly awarded to someone/thing that's affected the world the most, for good or ill. Hitler was named "Man of the Year" by Time at one point. The idea of Caitlyn affecting the trajectory of human history, for good or for ill, more than Merkel or ISIS is beyond ridiculous.

S07.E11: GeekMyTree, Beard Head, Lovepop, PiperWai
A Boston Gal replied to Tara Ariano's topic in Shark Tank
I must be getting old, but I didn't remember a single product or company from Daymond's group update. Can someone help my fading memory? -
Chris dropped the dummy on the ground and missed the gurney completely. Was he even aiming when he threw it down? Say what you will about Justin, but if it's between him and Chris, I'd rather have Justin rescue me from a burning building. He was fearless.

HBO Picks Up The Leftovers For A Third And Final Season
A Boston Gal replied to Primetimer's topic in The Leftovers [V]
If the family stays in Jarden, I'd really love to see how the growing trust between John and Kevin blossoms into something like friendship. Kevin has been to hell (purgatory, at least) and back...could he offer John some help with his pain? -
If they hadn't already chosen six individuals/acts, I wonder if they would have gone with only four honorees or would have named an other person when the Eagles had to postpone. A good argument for annoucing six winners, I suppose, if you don't mind following through with six award presentations. IMO, the show is a bit rushed as it is, and I'm sure lots of good stuff is edited out to make it fit into 2 hours of commercial television. I can only imagine how much would get cut with six different sets of performances, instead of five. I wish CBS would just give the show 2 and a half hours, but I know I'm dreaming. :(

I loved this one, too, then it took a long hiatus, and made a big deal about coming back...lots of promos, Starlee Kine was a guest star on "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me", etc. And then, it returned...for ONE episode. Granted, it was a great episode, but that was it. Does anyone know what happened to Ms. Kine and her intriguing podcast?

Great interview; my only disapointment was there wasn't a photo of Zahn McClarnon as himself. I'd be interested in seeing what he looks like non-Hanzee'd.

Omg, yes! Your husband does indeed have a great eye - terrific pick!

I loved the last shot of the whole family, and am so grateful they did it (even though it reduced me to a blubbering mess). But, you have a truly intriguing concept there! If there is to be a season three, that would've insured I would come back to watch. What am I saying, I'm in for a third season, no matter what. But, I like your idea. :) Well, you know what they say: To err is human, to forgive (and survive three deaths), divine. ;)

I completely understand what you mean about the respective backgrounds, but I think that since John out-and out ran every single aspect of law enforcement in Jarden (including his influence over the US Park Rangers in keeping Matt back out of Jarden), then we've pretty much blown up many storyline stereotypes. John had all the (man made) power in his town, and Kevin had none. To my mind, that helped balance any disparity between the two men. Besides, in reality, a national park takeover by a known radical cult would probably result in some kind of US Government response, so I don't know how much of the outside world truly affects this show's reality. By the way, does the internet even exist in The Leftover's universe? Everyone was functioning in a vacuum of information and sense of time and space. It was almost "Pleasantville"-esque. That being said, I loved this episode and season. I cheered when Kevin chose the Mapleton cop uniform to wear ("To thine own self be true"), and was in tears when I saw Kevin's whole family waiting for him. Meg was right - Family Is Everything. (Although...Laurie and Nora being under one roof was kinda weird, but I'm sure they'll work it out somehow. ;) )

And Christine Amanpour when she's on. PS: I can't be alone in my Chris Cuomo hate, can I? He makes every story seem it's about him and his reactions to it, even if he never says so explicitly.

I'm venturing it's because this is such a small but consistant part of every episode. So much is going on with Ed, Peggy, various Gerharts, etc., that I practically forget there's some kind of UFO stuff happening concurrently...but then, boom! There's Hank's den, or some strange lights, or ghostly figures, and we're reminded that "Oh yeah, something's up with this as well." Love the subtlety, because that's not usually associated with alien visitations, assuming that's what's happening. Or mass psychosis. Also want to mention how hard Constance tried to get Peggy to give up her location. I have high hopes she's still unscathed because she couldn't have pushed more for that info if she was a Gerhart herself. Hope Hanzee appreciated that.

GMTA, BizBuzz, and all that good stuff. :D

In my heart, I believe the CJ decision did not stem from any logical character or story line considerations, but from the love the showrunners evidently had for Allison Janney. ;)

So, what do we think about the "Barry Strikes Back" episodes, besides being a super-cheap way to bring Barry back into the mix? IMHO, Barry is still fun to watch, and I love how he brings buddy Kenny (yes, Kenny's back!) up to speed with explanations of just how much a tool Dave Hester really is. By the way, just what is Barry sitting on while they watch? Some kind of car throne?
-
deaja, it WAS a strange move, and it was endlessly debated among us at the old place when it happened. So very unlikely in real life, but what can you do? In the end, we all just suspended our disbelief, took a deep breath, and moved on. Or rather, kept watching.... ;)

LOL! You know that if Meg had the chance to redesign the GR, not being able to talk would be the first thing to go.
-
Exactly...she couldn't even get through one lunch with a perfectly lovely Betty Buckley Mom without having to take a coke break? Feh. Is it silly of me to wonder about how Meg was able to get in contact with Evie after that one brief carrot encounter, since she got back on the bus out of Jarden directly afterwards?

Good to know, SmithW! I will certainly reconsider, and put this back on my list. Thanks for the new point of view!

Agree with you 100% about Adrian's character, Blixie. Half the fun was watching her come out of her shell, and be the person she was always capable of being. As entertaining as this new movie was was, especially because I used to live in Philly and loved seeing the sights, I also agree with you that the reviews might be a tad too glowing (lots of love for Stallone, perhaps?). If anything, I would call this a very good movie that you could easily wait until it leaves the theaters to see, especially if you are not a die-hard Rocky fan. ETA: I think they added Bianca's hearing disability to 1) flesh out her character with something specific, and 2) have a plot point the writers can revisit in multiple ways during any potential sequels. A musician not already deaf, but in the process of going deaf - oh, the Beethoven-esque irony, eh?
-
LOL, ShannonL, Mr. Boston Gal wondered the exact same thing about the turtle. And I also noticed the lack of the Rocky theme song until the final round. And the "o - w". ;) We should catch a movie together sometime!

Oh, it was great! Very tender, funny, and charming. Terrific costumes, and set decorations too, although I'm sure that's not the only reason anyone would see it. Loved seeing Julie Walters again. Her presence in a movie is a sure sign that it's a good one.

Sharpie66, me too! That was my first time noticing Liev Schreiber, and I also thought the rest of the cast was terrific in that film. :)
