  1. I think we saw where his apparent lack of confidence came from! That was pretty sad to see. Bless him. Any of the three would have been worthy winners to me, though it was obvious after the showstopper that James was out of the running. I did really feel for Brendan when he was breaking up in front of the camera and couldn't finish. I do wonder what he was trying to say. It seemed like "in spite of...." That was lovely of him to want to bring the family back together after such a long time. I do agree with others that TPTB wanted a more "modern" winner. And sometimes when a contestant is so consistent, as Brendan was, they perhaps get taken a bit for granted. I came in late to the series, so now I get to binge the previous seasons on Netflix!
  2. But she’s still adopting Regina, so it’s kind of the same.
  3. McKenna Grace (little Emma) is in the forthcoming "Bad Seed" remake with Rob Lowe. That child is everywhere.
  4. That was great! Seriously, how much tonnage of makeup and prosthetics does it take to make Santiago Cabrera look like THAT? LOL. (And, of course, we could wonder how he did it himself, but we're not supposed to.) That guru dude (who's probably Nero) is so creepy, he always makes me think he's sizing up Jillian to make a skin suit out of her.
  5. Uh, is it related to Once? Yeah, I heard some stuff that wasn't general knowledge back in my X-Files and Alias fandom days. It's kind of weird. It can affect how you think about a show or an actor -- but you can't really explain to people why. Truth is good -- but sometimes it's easier just not to know.
  6. I never knew any of that gingerbread history — fascinating! Brendan seems like the obvious winner, but you never know. I do like all the bakers left, so I will be happy for any of them.
  7. I'm more interested in the "world vs. asteroid" aspect than the "presidential hot potato" aspect, so I'm sorry to see Darius stuck with being POTUS rather than being all science-y trying to stop the asteroid. And that was some piss-poor protection of the president -- a bulletproof screen that was the size of a card-table science-project backdrop and that didn't even come up to the top of Darius's head, plus how would they NOT have armed government snipers on every vantage point surrounding the area? Not to mention walking the president past a bunch of randoms in the kitchen. Terrible. Ah, Grace's dad. I'm irrationally attached to him, so I'm sorry he's going to be locked up. I'm annoyed by the COPE guru plot, but it's actually realistic there would be gurus like that at such a time, so I suppose I shouldn't complain. Of course I'm suspicious of him -- maybe he's Nero. I think it would be a hoot if Mr. Missing Scientist suddenly showed up with THE foolproof way to stop the asteroid and just saved the world himself while Darius and ReSyst were sniping at each other. That would be hilarious. Or maybe HE's Nero. I want to get a dog just so I can name it Barkus Aurelius. (My cats say no, however.) It sure is lucky they guessed right since it could've been BarkusAurelius, barkusaurelius, Barkus_Aurelius, etc., etc.
  8. Hated losing half the dancers in one swoop. It seemed so brutal. I know I said it before, but I don't like this scaled-down rush season -- it's going so fast, I have trouble investing. But I think Hannahlei is my favorite. At least they're not doing All-Star teams -- I REALLY didn't like that version. Somebody please remind me who Jonathan is. I have zero recollection of him.
  9. OMG, Once was nominated for an Emmy! (For Mark Isham for music composition, so at least it's for something actually worthy.)
  10. If they don't give us more of Bradley Whitford's character in S3, I'm going to be seriously pissed. He's a gold mine and we barely scratched the surface. "Have a great life. Stay off drugs!" I knew June wouldn't leave as soon as she tucked the picture of Hannah in the baby's clothing. I understand why, but it drove me crazy. GET IN THE VAN, JUNE!!! That needs to be the absolute last time she almost escapes -- the next time, she needs to actually escape. Her almost-escapes are to the point of the ridiculous memory curses on Once Upon a Time. I have no idea where they're going to go with June next season. It would make absolutely zero sense for her to end up back at the Waterford house without some major body-part punishment. And being tortured to give up who helped her. As for Fred, it would also make zero sense for there not to be repercussions for him after having his handmaid go missing not once, not twice, but THREE times; his driver's wife commit adultery and be killed for it; his wife get too uppity about reading and get her finger chopped off; and now losing his baby! However, I sadly expect her to end right back in the Waterford house, with those promised visits with Hannah if she's obedient. Go, Marthas! I hope none of them are punished. I'm worried about Rita. Lydia isn't dead, I'm sure of it. They mentioned calling an ambulance. If she was actually dead, they'd have shown it. I'm guessing Prof. Lawrence will say that he had Emily killed and disposed of after she stabbed Lydia, though of course that's out of the ordinary course of things. But if he's high-ranking enough, he might be able to get away with it. Please bring back Bradley Whitford. And show us Emily in Canada with Moira and Luke. Stuff needs to be happening there.
  11. I've watched all the episodes this season, but I don't feel like I know ANYBODY. It's like speed-SYTYCD, it's crunched down so much. Also, the girl they said had the best solo of them all? The hell??? I was shaking my head -- I thought her solo was a giant pile of MEH. Not even the best of the very limited number we saw.
  12. I think he's feeling incredibly guilty. He ignored Eden and never gave her anything, because he was in love with June. And now Eden is dead because she was so desperate for affection. (As for Isaac, I didn't believe that he'd willingly die for love. He seemed too much of a hard-ass for that. But the situation was really all about Eden. That poor kid.) I thought Nick was shot at the end of the ep when it happened, but then when there was no blood all over that pristine snow in the next episode, I realized he must not have been shot. But I sure wanted more of a transition than "a few weeks later." Same! I really want to know more about what's going on in Bradley Whitford's house. It's so creepy but interesting. It's almost like some effed-up Jane Eyre shit. (Not really, but anytime there's a young woman coming into a secretive household with a crazy wife kept upstairs, you just have to make the comparison.) Now that's a 180 degree take from what I was thinking! I figured (hoped?) he was accepting the recalcitrant people who were on their last chances, to try to "make up" in some small way for his part in the whole thing. It could go either way. Serena is getting on my nerves with her whiplashing personality shifts. I suppose they may be trying to portray a "two steps forward, one step back" kind of thing, but it's gotten repetitive and annoying. I have hopes that this is going to end up with the baby getting yanked from her arms (hopefully to safety) -- let her see how that feels. Fred is a nasty perv and needs to die. At some point somebody needs to figure out there's a reason women keep running away from his house. Fucking bran muffin.
  13. I assume you know not to eat any apples.
  14. I expect that Fred will take June to visit Hannah, and June will discover that Hannah has been completely indoctrinated into Gilead and no longer sees June as her mother, just some lowly sinful Handmaid. He said "You deserve this" in the previews, so it's more of a punishment for her than a reward. June would feel that Hannah was totally lost to her. That would be devastating to June and could drive her to make a desperate bid to escape somewhere to have the baby alone. Either the baby could die, or they find her and take the baby immediately. Of course, then it would be totally unbelievable they wouldn't just kill her.
  15. Is anybody else watching "The Handmaid's Tale"? It's so upsetting and disturbing, but boy, do I love it. I get so excited each week when it's time for a new episode. I thought there's just be 10 eps in S2 like in S1, but I just found out there are 13, and I'm beside myself with glee. I'd have been distraught if next week was the last ep of the season.
  16. I thought she was just overcome with emotion given the "America the Beautiful" singalong. I loved that line so much! Burn!! I actually "Ohhhhhhh"ed out loud. Also cheered the Canadian guy who talked about visiting the U.S. -- with his husband. Sadly, I agree with this. He does have the feel of a character who isn't long for this world. Yes, that seemed like a crumb dropped that will (I hope) be picked up later. Perhaps something happened to the baby while she was caring for him. Or I liked the suggestion above that maybe she was a midwife who delivered her nephew, and her sister blamed her for his death. Oh, American Guy knew. That lighting up the cigarette was 100% deliberate on his part to tempt Serena. He knew she smoked, because he'd read all about her. It was the first overture and a way to capture her interest. As for the Canadians, it seemed to me that the government totally knew what was happening in Gilead, but the general populace probably didn't know, or only knew vague things. It's easy not to pay attention to unpleasant things that aren't right in your face. Then the letters hit the Internet with all their details and BOOM. I think the government may have actually been hoping to get some trade going again, but the public outcry about the letters revealing the truth about Gilead made that possibility untenable because it would be too unpopular. There was a lot to like in that episode. I was yelling at Nick at the end to tell June about Moira already! I loved how happy it made June that Moira got out, and how she laughed at the concept of her and Luke living together and how they'd kill each other.
  17. Final voting for the Previouslys is up. Several OUAT options to vote for -- mostly in the bad, but one good (CS for best couple).
  18. Not to mention he will be angry about the bombing at the Rachel & Leah Center, which was HIS project, and keen to punish any woman for standing up to him Gilead.
  19. She trusted him enough to arrange for him to impregnate June. So she's already trusted him enough to "ask" him to do something illegal. In for a penny, in for a pound!
  20. A few pics (the first poster has a bunch of info from his panel too): Gifs of Colin dancing a jig: http://pirateherokillian.tumblr.com/post/174509190848/colin-dancing-an-irish-jig-at-ouat-orlando-x
  21. That's what it looked like to me, too, Fred hitting/punishing Serena in front of June. I was also really hoping he'd be maimed in some way. I totally knew Eden was going to find those letters. Uh-oh.
  22. That really got to me, too. Such an indignity that even in death, they were still treated as possessions of the men. Which is why the scene juxtaposing that where they all told each other their names was so powerful. I spent the rest of the episode wondering if it was Rita (Serena's Martha) who was killed, until later when Serena said that Eden and Rita had gone to visit the family whose Martha had been killed. I think maybe they wanted us to wonder, because when June was crying to Nick about it, she just said "They killed HER." Ha, I got bugged by the picture like so many others, and that's exactly what I told myself, too. I'm wondering if Odette also performed abortions, and that's why she was one of the first to be rounded up, "before the war."
  23. My 12-year-old self was utterly heartbroken that Jo and Laurie didn't wind up together. I was SO mad at the book! I even felt that way in the Winona Ryder/Christian Bale movie. This is the first version where I was actually glad they didn't end up together -- because I hated this Jo. I just found her unpleasant and not very likable. I didn't care for the first part of this adaptation very much, but I enjoyed it well enough by the end. It wasn't great, but it was pleasant enough. I did think Angela Lansbury and Michael Gambon, especially, were pretty much wasted in their roles.
