  1. I left early yesterday to head to work so I would be in place for the eclipse. I was glad I left early as I would have not been able to view it. It was so amazing, really odd that it looked like night time. Was glad I had the chance to see it. That is the first time I have seen a total solar eclipse. There was no major traffic around my area. I was really worried about that. I think it might have been an issue in the trendy places that everyone likes to go to.
  2. I believe that Janelle said they are with some of his siblings now.
  3. I read somewhere that the rental she was living in in ST. George belonged to her dad. Not sure if that is true or just a rumor. Someone also said she was working in a nursing home. He should have had everyone working. With two moms working day shift and two working evenings and both sets of moms helping watch the kids and get them to school and back home.
  4. I hope Janelle and Madison's gardening works out great for them. Getting one started and keeping it up is hard work. The biggest issue I see with some gardeners is when they water, they use a sprayer hose. Big no no. You don't want the foliage to get wet, it causes all sort of issues. You want to water at the base. Which is why some people using drip irrigation I always loved helping my dad in his garden. But I just don't have the time to do one myself.
  5. After having almost two weeks of 70-80 degrees and Monday it was 92. We are going to have a few days in the 40-50 range and then back to the 70's again. I've noticed a few trees blooming already. Too early for that. I hope I don't get sick from the constant change. I use a nasal allergy spray, so hopefully that will help. Yes it has been very windy here in Texas too. Minus the temps you are having. Stay warm and try not to over do it.
  6. Ha Ha. I saw a man in the store the other day that had a pair of glasses on and then another on top of his head. Not sure if he knew. I frequently fall asleep and then wake up with my glasses still on. I'm just lucky i have never broken them.
  7. My dad also born in the 30's, said they listened to the radio often in the winter as it was too cold to be outside at after dark. I remember a great aunt who never missed her soaps on TV. Little did I know at the time that one of them began as a radio show.
  8. Same here. Last week was so nice here in Texas, in the 70's. I wore shorts to work everyday. Still in shorts this week but highs are in the 60's.
  9. I've already bought a five pack of glasses. We are right in the path.
  10. I loved visiting this area. Was only there for about 1 1/2 days. Went to Arches and Canyonlands. At canyonlands I walked right up to the edge not realizing how dangerous it was, had there been a huge gust of wind, it wouldn't have ended well. But it was a beautiful view. I would love to go back and do more hiking and exploring the area.
  11. They never went just for a weekend, as they had to drive from Utah/Nevada to Montana. That was a 13 hour drive from Vegas, 11 1/2 hours from St. George and 7 1/2 from Lehi. Usually it was for holidays or school breaks. They would stay for a week or more. I remember all the wives started getting their keys for their new homes right before they had to leave to drive to Montana.
  12. I've read several books about this group. This show is going to be very eye opening. I'm watching it right now.
  13. You are probably right about the "they will come after us".
  14. My thought is that they had no health insurance growing up so didn't have any way to pay for them. Even when my daughter was born in the 80's at that time they still didn't offer preventative measure at no cost, as a single parent I paid out of pocket for all of her shots. Luckily they didn't have all the different ones they have now. For years I had a constant running bill at the doctors office. Luckily at the time they would let you pay it out. I have a brother and sister, after our birthdays each year we are all three years apart. Needless to say my mom frequently dealt with 3 sick kids. My brother being the one who was oldest and brought everything home. At least my sister and I had all the childhood diseases before starting school. Long before they had shots for those things. We all had measles, mumps, chicken pox. At least at the time she didn't work full time. I had the chicken pox the worst, all over but I had them really bad on the bottom of my feet in clusters. So bad I couldn't walk. So I had to be carried around or walk on my knees and hands. The measles was bad, because you had to be in a room with low lighting. I remember the widows being covered, it was depressing. I would imagine that Tony probably had all of his shots growing up.
  15. I've thought the same thing. They seemed to cozy to be unmarried.
  16. I noticed all three of the OG's dresses covered their collarbones. But not Robyn's. Maybe the brown dress she wore did. Also did anyone else notice in the Meri and Christine wedding photos that Kody has his hand in his pocket? Almost like I'm bored.
  17. I have to agree. Same with not wanting people who had to work/school/travel interacting with your family during a pandemic.
  18. True. I have what my mother always calls baby fine/flyaway hair. It is very hard to style it. When I styled my hair, I would get a wave perm, just so it would hold a little wave. Once and once only did I get a curly perm. I didn't like it. But it was easy to care for. Just let it dry, After scrunching of course.🤣
  19. All the scrunching in the world can't make perm curls. True. Just shave it down close to the scalp. About 1/4" would look good.
  20. Try mixing in some warm water to make it softer and it is supposed to bring out the flavors of the food better.
  21. Same with my dad. When they built their home he planted the fruitless mulberry's for quick shade as it is really hot here in Texas without any shade on your house. He would trim them back when he was able to. My mom had someone trim them a few times before she finally sold the house. But he also planted plum, peach, pear and pecan trees. Two apple trees that only produced about 15 apples over the course of their life. Whereas the pear tree was tall over 25 feet and the limbs would be almost touching the ground as it was almost always loaded with pears. The plum and peach trees always had a lot of fruit. I miss having really good tasting fruit. What you get in the store now rarely tastes good much less great. We also had a neighbor who worked for a large farm and during the summer he would bring us huge watermelons, cantaloupe, honeydew and Israel melons. Not to mention the garden my dad always had. Fresh tomatoes, I would eat them every day.
  22. Cottonwoods like fruitless mulberry trees and hackberry, are considered trash trees. They grow quick to give shade but create a lot of problems.
  23. Maddie and Caleb moved soon after to North Carolina. But with as long as it took for their homes to sell, they should have all remained in Vegas until that happened.
