THIS!! My college boyfriend was sooooooo cheap - why should I get you a card or flowers for Valentine’s Day, they just get thrown away or die?! Dinner and a show was all you can eat at Pizza Haven and the $1.00 movie theater 🙄 He did show me EVERY SINGLE free parking spot in the city of Seattle but I traded him in for a lovely guy who understands the value of treating yourself and others as well as paying for parking! (32 years and counting).

Yes, but they rinse out the salt before they prepare it (many many changes of water) but I’m sure it still has lots of sodium in it 😉

It may be she’s not well acquainted with spices in general - my husband is from Scandinavia (Norway) and when I first started going there 30 years ago they literally had no spices in their food - just salt and pepper. Everything they ate then and still most of what they eat at home is bland and white (fish, potatoes every day, boiled cauliflower even in summer). My mom-in-law had never had a “spicy” meal until she came here to visit - mild Mexican food still blows her away. I can say the influx of immigrants and globalization of the last 20 years have broadened the younger generation’s palate, but Finland may still be a bit behind Norway in that regard. Or she’s a nut and thinks spices aren’t healthy 😆.

I’ve been buying S.Pellegrino Essenza Flavored Mineral Water variety packs at Costco...it has Lemon, Cherry-Pomegranate, and Tangerine-Wild Strawberry. I like that the cans are 11 oz. - Not too big 🙂 Available at Amazon too.

Yes, a newborn and a toddler are hard work, but it is work that ALL parents somehow muddle through...you’re not special, Maddie! And looking back, that is the EASIEST part of being a parent - your only job is to make sure they are warm, dry and fed. Being tired isn’t the end of the world...just wait until those kids get a serious or life threatening illness, or start growing up and get their own ideas, friends (both regular and romantic) you don’t like, licenses, options to drink or not, use drugs or not, etc, etc...I know it isn’t helpful to new parents, but if only they knew that after those first few years they will swap exhaustion for non-stop challenges with real world consequences! Again this COL says get over yourself, Maddie.

Yes, I get it, and as a person married to someone from a foreign country as well, I recognize that every culture has its own set of customs and values which when viewed with no context or familiarity can be strange to an outsider. But I’m also here for the snark, and Avery and her mom have provided snark worthy fodder in spades. 😉. The disparity in dress between the two women and the guy in the sweat jacket was especially jarring - if Avery needed to wear even more covering over her very modest (and beautiful) wedding gown to be appropriate (never explained to her in the store or Omar) I find it funny that a sweat jacket one might wear to work out in is fine for the man.

An event to remember - Mom dressed up like ET in a bedsheet, Avery wearing an Obi Wan Kenobi Halloween costume, the male witness in his finest “athlete” branded athleisure jacket, groom holding hands to repeat vows with Avery’s bearded stand-in and all in PLASTIC LAWN CHAIRS!!
